Awful! Arracherra meat smelled like liver when I got home and opened package. Pork tamales were good though

I've been searching for a good butcher in the area, and was happy with the ground beef on my first…read morevisit. Was also very pleased with their selection and service. It's unfortunate that I receive the exact opposite on my second visit. I was waiting to be helped and they took two white men, and an elder white lady before me, even though I was acknowledged. I can understand if they're older and they wanna be helpful first, but there is no communication on this.... And then I saw the sign. I should've taken a photo cause it was a little startling, and unfortunate that they expressed so openly their political position and hate for Wokeness. I've heard some stories how they are true MAGA and slightly racist, but you have to experience it for yourself. You have to give a place a chance. And it saddens me the way I was treated on my second time back. Folks everywhere are just so sad and upset these days, every life has been disrupted in someway the last 10 years for multiple reasons. It's stressful out here, but it's also stressful trying to get good quality food with all the regulation changes. I travel out of the country multiple times a year and American food is just the worst. So I'll keep searching for quality in both the product and in the customer service. In some small way, it's good to know a store position because I don't wanna give them my business. It's so weird to fight against progress. And it's even weirder to think Wokeness is a thing. Stay asleep.

This place was intriguing. I came here on a recommendation. Put the address into my gps and off I…read morewent. It was like an old school grocery stop with a deli shop that was busy when I walked in. Had me curious enough to come back and try a lunch sandwich from here. This meat market has the soup bones for my dogs for a decent price also. I never wrote a review with the intent of a follow up review as I have to come back, grab a sandwich and buy some ready made family style dinner trays that looked like it would make my cooking nights way easier! The lady Çathy up front was extremely knowledgeable of the place. I will be back very soon to provide an update on the family dishes and sandwiches! Can't wait!

This is the spot to get whole catfish, it's a great price and has been fresh each time! The size of…read morethe catfish is about 2 lbs and they're headless and skinless. This is the perfect size for making mohinga (Burmese catfish soup). They also have a fish service counter if you need them to cut it into smaller pieces. They have nice big sturdy plastic bags that can fit the whole fish. They have separate service counters for chicken, fish, and beef/pork which is helpful to reduce cross contamination. It's super cold so make sure you bring a down jacket and beanie! The service line sometimes takes a bit of time so just be aware of that. There are plenty of other meat offerings like whole chicken, pork, sausage, beef, etc. All of them look really fresh and very competitive pricing. There's also a grocery store section where you can buy fresh vegetables, spices, and even baked goods like paczkis. The Bavarian cream paczki was delicious and not too sweet. There's also bulk frozen foods like fries and jalapeno poppers (if I remember correctly). Finding a whole catfish in Chicago can be difficult and I'm glad I can always trust Peoria packing for my catfish needs. The whole 2 lb catfish was only $6, incredible deal! The parking lot is decently sized, on a busy day like Christmas or Thanksgiving you can drive further near where the trucks are parked and park along the fence. For special holiday hours they were responsive both through Instagram DM and phone calls to confirm their hours! Really great service. They recently moved to this new location in October 2025. It used to be near Fulton Market in West Loop. Different location but same great service and item selection, probably more spacious too.

Can anybody tell me when Aldi transformed into a scaled down Trader Joe's? I mean, it makes sense…read morebecause Aldi and Trader Joe's are owned by the same family. By the way, I am a big fan of Trader Joe's. For a long while now, friends and family have urged me to visit any Aldi location. They said that I was in for a surprise? In my head, Aldi is/was a place people on very tight budgets went to for a squeezing of additional savings from grocery shopping. Did I ever go to an Aldi before? Yes, and to be honest I was not overly impressed. Therefore, I did not return. Was I surprised by my recent visit? Most definitely yes, the produce was very fresh. The meats I purchased and put on the grill were very good. What? Prociutto, charcuteria, fresh seafood for sale? But my biggest surprise was the wine section that did not exist before. One of my first thoughts was, "Are Trader Joe's wine buyers also picking the wine in all Aldi stores?" I glanced over the selection and of course did not see any very large wineries represented in the offerings? So I took a gamble and chose some of the better wine regions around the world and the grapes that most notably put them on every wine connoisseur's list (Argentina-Malbec, New Zealand-Sauvignon Blanc, California-Pinot Noir, Italy-Sangiovese, ...). Did my gamble pay off? Yes, each bottle that I purchased was excellent and probably would have cost me a whole lot more anywhere else for the same quality. As a result, this particular Aldi that I visited, hands down, now has the best wine selection for this particular area. Most grocery and liquor stores in this general area have a horrible wine selection. As a result of my new found revelations, Aldi is now on my short list of grocery stores that I shop at. Just thought I would pass on this nice tip for those still not in the know about the new and vastly improved Aldi!
