The Wurst is a great addition to the local food landscape…read more I picked up steak and a chicken, both raised on local farms, from The Wurst. They were both terrific, particularly the chicken. I roasted the bird and made a gravy from the drippings. Now, I roast a chicken in a cast-iron pan for dinner probably 2x\month. And my kids love that meal. Just chicken, gravy, homemade mashed potatoes and a veg. They all said the chicken from the Wurst was the tastiest I've made. And they went nuts over the gravy. But I didn't do anything different. It was the depth of flavor from the chicken that elevated everything. The store itself is pretty cool. The product is front and center, displayed behind glass cooler walls. It's like a shrine to meat. I hope The Wurst is successful, simply because no one else around here is doing anything close to what the owner is tackling there.

And I mean, alligator, ostrich, venison, etc. Of course they have what I buy which is the normal chicken, steak, etc. But they have it all. And I will tell you that the quality, taste and flavor are over the top! I have to say that this is the best meat we have ever purchased. Everything they sell is fresh but flash frozen. They butcher their own meat and there main feature is their healthiness. Their meats have no preservatives, dyes, etc. Many of their items are really expensive but they also have a lot of great values. We purchased the sweet sausage, pork roast, pumpkin pie and apple pie. On two visits. Actually ended up getting a second pumpkin pie on our second visit as this is the best pumpkin pie I have ever had in my life. All the meats were amazing. I am going back here often!!!!

Yes, beautiful fresh meats behind the counter but so much more. Frozen dinners, frozen soups, all kinds of quicky dinner mains. Sides of all kinds, along with a full complement of deli meats, salads of all kinds and description, sausages, stuffed meats. From the eye-popping displays to the variety, it's hard to make a decision knowing this could add up like a trip to Costco. The prices--nice--affordable. The staff behind the fresh meat counter are very accommodating with portions. I'm shopping for two, not an army. The meats we've tried so far have been very good, tasty, fresh, and I have more confidence in getting meat that is actually healthy and not a product full of chemicals or close to spoilage. Still, the chicken thighs we got recently were rather oddly cut; the only quibble I've had so far. I have many more choices to try--and I plan to.

Can anybody tell me when Aldi transformed into a scaled down Trader Joe's? I mean, it makes sense…read morebecause Aldi and Trader Joe's are owned by the same family. By the way, I am a big fan of Trader Joe's. For a long while now, friends and family have urged me to visit any Aldi location. They said that I was in for a surprise? In my head, Aldi is/was a place people on very tight budgets went to for a squeezing of additional savings from grocery shopping. Did I ever go to an Aldi before? Yes, and to be honest I was not overly impressed. Therefore, I did not return. Was I surprised by my recent visit? Most definitely yes, the produce was very fresh. The meats I purchased and put on the grill were very good. What? Prociutto, charcuteria, fresh seafood for sale? But my biggest surprise was the wine section that did not exist before. One of my first thoughts was, "Are Trader Joe's wine buyers also picking the wine in all Aldi stores?" I glanced over the selection and of course did not see any very large wineries represented in the offerings? So I took a gamble and chose some of the better wine regions around the world and the grapes that most notably put them on every wine connoisseur's list (Argentina-Malbec, New Zealand-Sauvignon Blanc, California-Pinot Noir, Italy-Sangiovese, ...). Did my gamble pay off? Yes, each bottle that I purchased was excellent and probably would have cost me a whole lot more anywhere else for the same quality. As a result, this particular Aldi that I visited, hands down, now has the best wine selection for this particular area. Most grocery and liquor stores in this general area have a horrible wine selection. As a result of my new found revelations, Aldi is now on my short list of grocery stores that I shop at. Just thought I would pass on this nice tip for those still not in the know about the new and vastly improved Aldi!
