WHOA! Slagel Farm goat, pork, and lamb in NWI! Small batch sausages and dry-aged meats...in Griffith! Taco meat? Yup. Barbacoa? Yup. Cuban pork loin? Sometimes. In all cases, this is quality meat from farmers who care about their animals. You can actually come in and see the sides of beef aging in the locker and there in a band saw in the window. Very little secrets here. Don't forget to grab a bag of jerky too, because the Jamaican jerk is slap your mother good.

Excellent steak! Tried filet and ny strip and definitely the best quality we've bought in NW Indiana.

    Nice roast!

Great local small business. 10/10 Highly recommend the seasonal chorizo-queso sausages when they're available.

The meat is only okay. There are much better places. We now go to Walt's meet department in Dyer. It's worth the drive

I have no complaints about the food, but I would say only so so for the price. Just expected something better.

It's unfortunate that I receive the exact opposite on my second visit. I was waiting to be helped and they took two white men, and an elder white lady before me, even though I was acknowledged. I can understand if they're older and they wanna be helpful first, but there is no communication on this.... And then I saw the sign. I should've taken a photo cause it was a little startling, and unfortunate that they expressed so openly their political position and hate for Wokeness. I've heard some stories how they are true MAGA and slightly racist, but you have to experience it for yourself. You have to give a place a chance. And it saddens me the way I was treated on my second time back. Folks everywhere are just so sad and upset these days, every life has been disrupted in someway the last 10 years for multiple reasons. It's stressful out here, but it's also stressful trying to get good quality food with all the regulation changes. I travel out of the country multiple times a year and American food is just the worst. So I'll keep searching for quality in both the product and in the customer service. In some small way, it's good to know a store position because I don't wanna give them my business. It's so weird to fight against progress. And it's even weirder to think Wokeness is a thing. Stay asleep.

It was like an old school grocery stop with a deli shop that was busy when I walked in. Had me curious enough to come back and try a lunch sandwich from here. This meat market has the soup bones for my dogs for a decent price also. I never wrote a review with the intent of a follow up review as I have to come back, grab a sandwich and buy some ready made family style dinner trays that looked like it would make my cooking nights way easier! The lady Çathy up front was extremely knowledgeable of the place. I will be back very soon to provide an update on the family dishes and sandwiches! Can't wait!

When mom gets a cold this is where she used to ask me to go with a twenty dollar bill. Sometimes she would give me a credit card. I am not a cook and you don't have to be I learned coming here for meatloaf is great and in the summer time shish ka bobs marinated in luscious sauces such as teriyaki and or buttery garlic herbs. The customer service is the best with fresh faced staff members ready to answer your questions and treat you with first hand care like you're the only one in the store. Fresh coffee ready and hot soup after you make your circle past the cranberry and walnut bread and more freezers stocked with satiating meats to pick from such as BBQ pulled pork and or various seafood items. My choice is the tuna steaks and scallops. And the deli is available for slicing your favorite cold cuts for a sandwich or buying a fresh salad in there case such as the popular spicy pasta salad or some marshmellow fluff dessert of some kind such as my sweet tooth kick in with the pistacho pudding and orange fluff. There is Welches festivities at the local fair grounds seasonal and grilled to bring out the steak sandwiches as the Saturday mornings bring to a sunny warm weekend in St. John, IN. The smoker in the back is smoking throughout the week dog bones and more. Enjoy the ambiance throughout the middle of the week with happy hour on Wednesdays. Welches location is in a soft and quaint corner near 93rd and off of a quiet turn light on traffic and stop lights. Just a great little spot to get in and out of in a hurry or convenience with friendly customer service all day. Top off your purchase with a slice of cherry pie and chocolate covers berries for dad or the kiddos. For me I end my stop and shop experience with the sweet heat beef jerky right at the register. The bogonias were a lovely Mothers Day plant that I bought there this year.

It is a quaint store with a variety of Filipino items, produce, and frozen foods. In the back is where the food is and they were out of the pork belly by the time we arrived. We bought some barbecue ribs and the last of the barbecue chicken wings. They also gave barbecue sauce to go with it. The barbecue ribs and chicken were good. The ribs were really tender and there was a hint of spice in them, but not overbearing. We are unsure if they make their own barbecue sauce, but it was just as delicious. I spoke with one of the ladies there and she said on Saturdays, they will have more food aside from the pork belly, ribs, and chicken wings. All I can remember is brisket. I wish we were going back tomorrow just so we can try it. But, next time we are in Highland, we definitely will!

I can't wait to go back to visit my family so that I can get some more of these bad boys! Trust me...if you are looking for well-executed bbq, look no further. This is a MUST TRY! Oh, and the pork belly wasn't too shabby, either! Melt in your mouth!
