Came to eat with a party 15 and after eating from 5-7 they lied and said there was a reservation at 7pm and asked for us to leave. We are a group of individuals that came to meet after traveling from out of town. They obviously didn't want us in the restaurant due to our two small children. Please note that the entire restaurant was empty. It was less than 10% capacity. One waitress was brushing her teeth in the bathroom for quite sometime. We knew they lied bc we still were outside chatting with the family for another 30 mins after they kicked us out with no large parties that joined afterwards since we were outside their front door. Food was decent but nothing to rave about. I am honestly so put off with the lie to push us out when we had brought large amounts of business to their restaurant at an odd time period. Thursday 5pm. They've gone downhill. I used to get them a lot in the 90s and they were great. Had a bad experience several years ago and hadn't been back. Ordered today to give them another chance and it was even worse. There's a reason they are cheaper than other similar places. The general tso's chicken is over 90% gristle. It's like they bought the leftover trimmings from another restaurant where they trimmed off all the inedible parts and used all the good stuff for their customers and sold the nasty bits off to Chef Wang's. I WISH I was exaggerating. Even my kids who normally eat nearly anything said it was horrible. The sweet and sour soup was neither sweet nor sour. I had to load it up with black pepper and salt for it to have any flavor at all. Super bland. Even the crispy wontons that came with the soup were extremely bland and I've NEVER had bad ones anywhere unless they were stale. These weren't stale, just bland as heck. They get 3 stars, not because of their food but because of customer service - specifically their delivery method. I've ordered here frequently. I've never dined in so I wonder how that experience would be. I've ordered multiple times with coworkers for delivery. There's usually 4 or 5 of us ordering. They're disorganized when delivering. There needs to be some type of system so we don't spend almost 10 minutes sorting the tickets out to pay. Maybe write names down when you take the orders or assign numbers and keep them organized. Something has to give. On one occasion I had an employee argue with me when he got my order wrong. This was an order for one person so wasn't complicated at all. I order the same thing every single time. I don't expect an argument when calling to report an issue with my order. That was unnecessary and definitely not appreciated. Lastly, whatever timeframe they give they generally don't adhere to. I frequently find myself calling to see where my order is bc it's 15-20 minutes passed when they said the food would be there. They hold the orders until they have multiple to send the driver with. I will say that even with the huge delay that my food has never been cold. read more

Ordered a variety of dishes for three people. Everyone was very happy with their order. Mine was spicy Chinese beef with vegetables, and I have to say I thought the dish was exceptionally well-made. The sauce was hearty and hot, but not over-the-top spicy, And the vegetables were plainly fresh and cooked enough, but not too much. The place looks empty, like a dingy strip-mall type of place past its heyday ... but appearances can be deceiving. Not good at all what I would call good food. The chicken I had was over cooked to the point of being chewy and the sauces are overly salted and sweetened. Their fried noodles were very greasy and also over cooked to the point the flavor tasted off. The decor was old and in desperate need of updating. Staff was quite friendly but service was slow. I ordered fried potstickers and the Dragon and Phoenix combo w/ white rice. The chicken in Dragon and Phoenix was delicious and plentiful. The shrimp came like I had never experienced it before, in some red sauce in what looked like soup. Also, there was only about 5-6 medium sized shrimp, which is flat out unacceptable. Alright so I've been driving by this place and keep seeing a lot of cops there, I figure if the cops eat there it must be good, right? Meh. I had chicken cashew and Mongolian Beef. Both dishes were sweet and that was about it. No flavor. Mongolian beef is supposed to be spicy, this just tasted like hoisin sauce dumped onto it with some onions, that were virtually flavorless. The cashew chicken was the same way, but it's supposed to be sweet, however there was just way too much sauce. You couldn't even taste the celery and carrots in it. The cashews could have been cooked a bit longer as well. The best thing here is the fried wontons they bring to you as you're waiting. I'm noticing a trend of almost every restaurant in Gainesville serving, tortilla chips or bread or something fried while waiting. The restaurant is a bit worn down, we sat in a booth and the girl sitting in the seat behind me was kind of playing pushing war with me as we both leaned against the seats they would lean against the person sitting directly behind you. This is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. I usually go for the General Tso's Chicken, but I've had numerous dishes here and they are all top-notch. Fit at the counter had a bad attitude when icame to pick up my lunch. The chicken is good but the sauce is unlike any general tsao I've had before. My co worker and I both ordered food from here and had it delivered today to us at our place of employment. The delivery guy with glasses was so rude! When my co worker was asking which receipt was hers to sign he snapped the receipt from her hands and slammed it on his side of the counter and then gave her her receipt and slammed it down in front of her and said here this is yours sign!! My co worker snapped back at him telling him that HE WAS BEING RUDE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! We also said he wasn't getting a tip either! Be careful ordering delivery from this restaurant. They will charge you for food and not deliver all of it. When you call to try to get them to correct it they will argue with you.
