The best thing I can say is the egg rolls were pretty decent. Ordered the house lo mein, hot and sour soup, and two egg rolls. The soup looked ok but had NO FLAVOR. It was pretty much a spicy cornstarch broth. No traditional wood ear mushrooms, and I could have overlooked that had it been good. House lo mein tasted like it looked. Old. Tired. Zero flavor. I'm sorry say, it was not very good at all. Everything tasted rubbery, with the exception of the tempura chicken. The rice tasted like the microwave stuff you can buy at the grocery store. There was no service to speak of... it's just a fast service restaurant. There were tables, but I don't think some of these places even try to create a decent, let alone nice atmosphere. Awful. $30 wasted on this meal. I can't believe how bad it was. We threw everything in the garbage and will never return. I drove 25 minutes to bring home a bag of garbage. Just tried Happy China for the first time. You won't get anything Happy here. I tried four dishes. Two chicken, if you can call it chicken, one beef dish and chicken low mien. The size of the lunch special is fine. I can't even figure out how they call this chicken. It really resembles and chews like gelatin. It's disgusting. I could not even eat it. It's a total throw away. The lack of flavor does not help mask this want to be chicken. It's such a shame that these Chinese restaurants in the area don't care about the food. Seems like they use the lowest quality food available. I get Covid hurt all restaurants immensely. But what I can't figure out is how you think you can regrow business serving this poor quality food. My husband and I love Chinese food. this was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. It was dirty it had a weird smell the entire restaurant. The staff very disinterested in a customers. My husband and I spent about $30. We ordered two crab ragoon, one large orange chicken , two orders of fried rice , two dr. Peppers , and one wonton soup. The crab rangoon was chewy and had no flavor. The fried rice tasted like soy sauce and vinegar. The wonton soup the broth had a very mild taste but you couldn't taste the wontons at all. And the orange chicken had no orange flavor I was supposed to be mild and Spice but it was not mild at all. The two best things about the meal was the dr. Pepper and leaving. We will never go back!!!! I extremely do not recommend ever going. Because of the cleanliness of the restaurant I'm a little worried my husband I might get food poisoning! I do not understand why this place isn't higher rated. It is the ONLY place in Gainesville that doesn't put peas and tofu in the egg drop soup and the only place here that hasn't made me sick. I've ordered delivery and pickup. The restaurant is clean and the family is very nice. Think some of these reviews focus on being entertaining too much. I highly recommend the chicken on a stick and the orange chicken. We order from here almost weekly and it's always fresh and yummy. read more

Worst place I have never ate at! I doubt this business has any english speaking customers after the way I was treated on the phone a short while ago. I would like to say up front, my english is very well spoken and I have extremely clear speech. Put simply... I called and asked if they could tell me something about a menu item they have. I ended up going through about 5 different ways to ask because she continuously kept asking me if I wanted a menu! After my 5 attempts to ask the question in different ways she said "I'm sorry I don't understand you..." (as best she could) then hung up! I called back mad of course, and she answered again, "Hellllloo?". I said "Yea, I just called and you hung up on me! I'm trying to order food!!!". Then she said "I no speak english good"... I asked her if there was someone there that did speak english and she said no, then told me I could go to china.com or chinese.com to get a menu!!! It's ashamed... I really like their website to order from and was excited about trying out the restaurant until I talked to an employee on the phone. Steer clear unless you know how to speak chinese. It's a tiny take out two wok joint that they try to make look clean but you know it's not. At best it's pedestrian oriental food with the same base. A large order of Kung Pao chicken ought to come with a bullet. Portions are large but heavy on salt, soy and msg. It's made to order and does a good job of staying hot until you get home. I think that this restaurant is good because it is delicious although its price is cheap. I ordered beef with garlic sauce. The beef was very soft and juicy and garlic sauce was a bit sweet, but it was nice. At least my order was very delicious. Although I just dropped by this restaurant on my way of bicycle ride, l could get a nice lunch time. However, the clerk seemed not to be good at English, so English native speakers might feel uncomfortable. I like it. Name is shabby,though! read more

This is the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had. We ordered a chicken dish and a beef dish. It was actually "mystery meat". My teen-age son who is a human garbage disposal couldn't even eat this. The eggrolls are obviously frozen. These must have actually had freezer burn because they were dried out and tasted like cardboard. The fried rice was not fried, boiled brown rice??? A complete waste of 35.00. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews but I just moved to the area a couple of months ago. This place is less than 8 minutes from my home and let me tell you, I've had some terrible Chinese food and they aren't one of them. Pepper steak and rice is delicious. The beef is so tender it's actually some of the best I've ever had. The lo-mien and sesame chicken are also my favs. I'll admit Chinese food is hit or miss, but this place is definitely a hit! read more

The food is normally fine but they do not speak English and will get your order wrong most of the time if you get take out. I will never give these people my business again after today's experience. Long story short, I got home and realized that I only received the appetizers and one of them was conveniently the wrong one also. They literally left out the main MEAL I purchased and this stuff isn't cheap. I called and the lady couldn't muster enough English to understand that I was not re-ordering food, I did not get all of my food. In her badly broken English she did not offer to make it right and that was enough for me to no longer go there, enough is enough. It happens all too frequent at this place and I'm generally easy going and certainly understand that things happen, orders get messed up..so on and so forth.. but it happens at this establishment almost every other time. If you can't grasp English you should have someone there who does. I am an honest person, when I pay for something..I use money that I worked for and I want what I paid for. I did not get that today, I got a lady telling me something else and she seemingly kept insinuating that I had to re-order the food and pay for it again.
