Since the other owners retired and the store has changed hands the food has a whole different taste. I had ordered a shrimp fried rice and it was not very good. It tasted like a burnt frying pan. This was a few months ago and may be different now but after being a customer there for over twenty years I have decided to find a different place to order from. read more

Just had Moo Goo Gai Pan (Chicken) from here - only hour and half ago - and now got SEVERELY sick - it is DEFINITELY food poisoning for sure. WONT GO BACK. read more

Only edible item is sesame chicken. Mongolian chicken not good, tangerine chicken not good, beef broccoli not good, fried rice disgusting

Sun garden has really gone downhill especially in the past year. I ordered delivery yesterday and I just threw it away. Crab rangoons were like cardboard and the sesame seed chicken didn't taste like sesame seed chicken. Have no idea what it was but it was definitely salty no sweetness. The fried rice was terrible. It was just brown rice or steamed white rice with some soy thrown on it. No egg, onions of anything or fried for that matter. They've definitely lost my business now. They used to be so good and cared about the quality of their food but now it's just terrible. Not to mention that my son and got very sick to our stomachs from eating it which wasn't much before we threw it away. We're feeling better now but had a rough night last night. This place has always served mediocre food, with mediocre service. It's that place you drop into when you want a cheap meal without a drive through. After my dine-in experience this evening I won't be back. My service was bad enough and part of my meal didn't make it to the table but that was the least of my concern. It was the open mocking of another diner. This gentleman for whatever reason chose to live stream his meal and was talking to a few friends that earned the 1 star. He wasn't being loud or disruptive by any means. A little awkward sure but there where 4 diners in the restaurant so it wasn't hard to hear his conversation. The gentleman clearly had a severe hand shake that looked similar to Parkinson's and was slowly eating with chop sticks. The two servers in the restaurant stood at the front counter snickering, looking his direction, and one of these women began mimicking his hand movements. I do not speak their language but there was absolutely no doubt who they where talking about and it wasn't kind. read more

I had a random craving for takeout Chinese food. Found Sun Garden through Yelp searches. Staff was very friendly and amicable. Food came out fairly fast. I ordered the sweet & sour chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. Both menu items were delicious as expected. Portions were also very generous. The shrimp were large and plump. The only issue with my order is that the mushrooms were spotty, clearly signaling them on the verge of spoilage. I also don't see mushrooms added too often to this dish, so maybe they were trying to make use of them before they went bad. Despite this I enjoyed the food and would order from here again. read more

Another awful Chinese place in Gainesville. Way overpriced. I can cook better at home. Terrible service. Dark, outdated ambiance.

it's rly good especially after chruch. a go too spot for sure. good service and food. it always comes out fast too.

My experience here was pretty bad, I did a pick up order. I ordered 3 lunch specials. The man that greeted me was very rude, I asked for soy sauce, hot sauce and he said it was an extra charge. He barley wanted to give me chop sticks. I would not recommend this place, I'd much rather go to Panda Express, sadly. My lunch special was General tso chicken, it was very gross and soaked in sauce. The rice that came in the lunch special was hard and had no flavor. The best thing was the egg roll. Save your money and time and don't eat here. read more

Sun Garden - a meal in a styrofoam container - Chinese Near Me - Gainesville, Georgia

Food is mediocre and service is terrible! As for ambiance several tables are covered with condiments, plates, stacks of silverware etc.

Service was horrible ! We walked in at 8 and they didn't close until 9. They asked are you dining in. I said yes. She said we close in a hour rudely I responded well good we have plenty of time. She had attitude the whole time. Even started taking up our dishes at 8:28 as we were still eating. I literally said umm no we are done yet. She grabbed the dish right out from under me while I'm holding my fork! I asked for side of yum yum to go on my rice and she said we charge extra. For one sauce?! Wow. Food wasn't even that good. Won't be back. Don't recommend at all read more

This place is what it is. If you go to Sun and expect a four or five star experience then you are fooling yourself. We called in our order and it was ready when we arrived. The staff was very friendly. The General Tso Chicken was ok, I've had better from other similar places, but the crab Rangoon was below average, we both had one and were done. Next time if we're in the area and have a similar craving I'd try again and just avoid the Rangoon. read more

Good take out every time. Lo mein is my favorite dish but I have not been disappointed yet.

Avoid. This place is gross. I ordered Mongolian Beef+Chicken and the food was nasty and covered in greasy oil. See the picture above. The flavor was almost bitter, and left a taste in my mouth I can only relate to swallowing sea water, then vomiting. read more

Sun Garden - Nasty, greasy mess. Got the Mongolian duo for dinner. I felt sick immediately after eating. - Chinese Near Me - Gainesville, Georgia

Service is terrible. We were the only people dining in. We had to get our own take out box, ask for the check, and the food was mediocre. We noticed everyone was getting takeout. We figured out why after seeing how bad the service was. read more

I've always received excellent service and even better food from Sun Garden! Their prices are more than reasonable and their portions are very large! read more

Food was a bit bland. Service was so-so. They really tried, but they just had more work than the 2 people in the dining room could handle. If I was really hungry and this was the only place open, I'd eat here again, but not if there are other choices. read more

The food is good and comes nice and hot. Delivery tends to be pretty quick. It is a little bit expensive in my opinion.

Great Chinese food for lunch...The lunch menu is so affordable at 6-7 dollars...Big portions eggroll and soup at no additional charge for lunch.. The sauces they use are delicious.. read more

After a five or six year self imposed ban, we tried Sun Garden again last night. No joy. When we moved here 12 years ago it was awesome. Then, the original owners sold it and it hasn't been worth a CRAP since then. Sorry to be so blunt but this place really is horrible. I have no idea how they are in business. We had shrimp with vegetables, and egg rolls and mixed sweet and sour. We both had fried rice. Well, it was Supposed to be fried rice, but it was really a gooey, nasty, mushy, cold bland mess. We only tried it again because Oriental Garden 2 sold out recently, too and isn't as good now. So now we are looking for a new GOOD Chinese place. Trust me, Sun Garden is not it. read more

Sun Garden - Nasty gummy, bland, mushy ( think mashed potatoes) "fried rice." Yuck. - Chinese Near Me - Gainesville, Georgia

Completely disgusting, the order arrived extremely quickly but not a single dish ordered worth it. Typically my daughter is willing to eat anything I order from Chinese restaurants (even if it's not really good) but not this time read more

Used to live close by for delivery. Now outside there zone. Never had a bad meal in fact I had lunch there 2 weeks ago and was hoping to get delivery tonight read more

The food has always been pretty good. On par, if not slightly better than most Chinese restaurants in the area. The wait staff are very friendly but can be quite pushy at times and they let kids run around, answer phones, etc. Quite disturbing. The tables, shakers and soy sauces have been quick sticky to the touch the past few times I've gone. Almost like it leaves a residue on your hand. They obviously aren't cleaning the place. It's gone downhill a good bit compared to 10 years ago. read more

The food was horrible we could mot even it what was delivered.we ordered soup egg rolls we did not get. Plus our entire. Service was fast . But food not fit to eat had to throw away. read more

I've been a customer for years. Consistent average food, but a decent Chinese restaurant is getting harder to find so I've always been happy. But tonight I ordered the same dish I've always ordered (Tangirine chicken w/ broccoli on the side) and was charged $1.00 extra. When I asked why, they said anything "off the menu" would now be an extra charge. Really?? A $26.00 order and they nickel & dime me because I don't want my broccoli soggy? Food a bit above average Customer service?? Come on Sun Garden, is it worth it to aggravate a long-time customer?? read more

My conclusion on this place is; depending on what you order will weigh heavily on your review (obviously). I ordered moo goo gia pan, general tsos chicken, sweet and sour soup, and eggdrop soup for my boyfriend and I. The moo goo gai pan and eggdrop were disappointing but my boyfriends order was good. The moo goo gai pan was very bland and the eggdrop was like flavored water; all egg was sitting at the bottom of the container. I'm not sure if we'll visit again. read more

Sun Garden - watery egg drop soup. Save your money, make it at home. - Chinese Near Me - Gainesville, Georgia

We've been eating at Sun Garden for almost three years, and until a month ago I'd have given it 6 stars if I could - but recently, the owners sold the place and the food, although not bad, is nowhere near what it was under the previous owners. It's now your average Chinese place with little atmosphere( what little decor there was seems to have left with the old owners) and so-so food. I keep hoping that the owners will show up somewhere else in Gainesville, but so far I haven't seen any new Chinese places opening up. I was literally sad when we went in and found out it had changed hands. If you're a regular there and you just haven't been in a while, I'm sorry to have to report the news. Your next best bet would be, in my opinion - the also decor-free, yet tastier " Chef Wang II ." read more

Ordered take out from them dozens of times an we keep coming back! Very friendly and prompt and the food is always delicious!

I do not want to give this business any stars except the bathroom was clean with the essence of mothballs. I ordered the most simplistic items and yes all its gets is a EHHH. Clean establishment, but i think I have more Chinese in me. The Crab Ragoons were too sweet. That did not bother me as much as the obvious problem with the wonton soup. Can I say Salt-on soup. There was so much salt in it I could not finish it. To top it off there was a meager amount of mystery meat in the actual wonton. They were generous with the 3 chives in the soup. Someone please translate for me, I asked the server if the vegetable roll and the egg roll were the same, she said yeah. She returned with these two pinky sized egg rolls that were vegetable rolls. If they said Spring Rolls, I would have known the difference. OK How about they do not sell Shrimp Egg rolls but ok, I will eat the mystery meat egg rolls. Can I say Gross. WOW. Thats 3 outta three. I asked for 2 wonton soups and got one large one and she said that is two. I was like I said two. The experience was less than stellar so much that I had to write this tonight. As I continue to drink lots of water to flush my system and the sodium away. Don't waste your time or your money! read more

This is the traditional take out Chinese place around here. The people are very nice and the food is consistent.

Please make the drive and go elsewhere! We came home with our take out order. It was all wrong. I called and they told me to DRIVE back to correct their mistake. I kindly asked them to deliver what was ordered. My son tried what we picked up to make sure it was not chicken. They took the used food back with them!!! Yuck. Ordered 3 crab Rangoon, large egg drop soup and sweet and sour chicken for delivery. Was told I was 2 dollars short for delivery. Not a big deal. I asked them to add 2.00 on the ticket to make it to the minimum they require. I was told they couldn't do that that I had to order something else. I told them I didn't want anything else but was willing to pay the extra 2 dollars. I'm not sure if they understand math or if their POS (point of sale) system really can't do it but I'm now eating a salad at the house. No big deal but I won't be back I guess unless I want to order food I can waste. read more

I wouldn't even give 1 star. Never will I ever eat here again. Owner is rude! Went and picked up my Togo order got home and no sweet and sour sauce for the chicken then he says it'll be 20 mins before they'll bring it to me. I live literally 1 minute away and all my food would be cold. Called back because they also didn't give me my egg rolls... he said let me check my cameras. What? Check your camera? so I said you aren't going to try to do anything to make it right he said I'll give you an extra egg roll. Wow so not professional. read more

So, I'm glad I did not read the reviews before I went here. My first time was on a Thursday night, take out was busy. I loved it so much, I came back Friday night and the place was packed, the phone was ringing off the hook, I never thought I would get my take out. Sure enough, 15 minutes later, it was good and hot. I love the beef teriacki sticks and the spicy shrimp in garlic sauce. The shrimp are large and the veggies are delicious! I might need to invite my family with me next time. read more
