Upon entry we received such a warm welcome from Chef Armando. The all-inclusive beverages and…read morecomplimentary charcuterie were a really nice touch to start the evening, especially if you arrive hungry like I did. We started by learning how to make Chicken Marsala, then moved into pasta making (my favorite part). After that, we learned how to make fresh mozzarella, and finally ended the night with dessert: tiramisu. The entire experience was so fun and interactive. I especially appreciated how knowledgeable Chef Alex was about everything we were making. When I asked about the type of pan she was using and why, she gave such a detailed and thoughtful explanation, which I really appreciated. By then, we had definitely worked up an appetite! We started dinner with a delicious salad and focaccia bread, followed by pesto fettuccine made from the pasta we created ourselves. Then came Chicken Marsala with mushrooms, and ricotta-stuffed ravioli in red sauce, also handmade by us. One of the best parts of the night was the atmosphere. Cooking, eating, and learning alongside people you've never met before somehow felt so natural and welcoming. You genuinely leave feeling like you made new friends. If I had one honest critique, I do wish there had been more opportunity to personally season some of the dishes to taste, as I felt parts of the meal were a little bland for my preference. I also personally prefer softer pasta over a firmer al dente texture. That said, I completely understood why the pasta had that texture since we didn't have much time for the dough to fully rest and develop. I also think some light Italian jazz music playing in the background would have elevated the atmosphere even more and really taken the experience to another level. Overall, I had a wonderful time and would absolutely take another class. It's definitely worth it for the experience, the knowledge you gain, and of course... dinner! Also, we got home (with our left overs) and finally had the tiramisu... and WOW. It was soooo delicious. The ravioli and tiramisu were definitely the stars of the show for me!

I've eaten that it was the best time I've had eating food in a long time. Reservations are insanely hard to come by their offered two weeks in advance for a period of two weeks and you better be online second they come open and even then you might not get a seat. But if you do get a Seat pay the extra money to sit the front row it is so worth it. This is a chopped/iron chef competition dinner where there are two chefs that are given mystery ingredients an hour and a half before the guests arrive. They are allowed one sous shop to assist them and they came up with a plan for appetizer, which is the first time event and a main course which is the second time event and a dessert which is the third time event. It's a flat fee reservation with tip included, except for the drink which you order off the menu and they have very reasonable prices and then you're expected to tip on that. Weeknight reservations are cheaper than weekend. The location is right next to the subway exit so if you're coming from Manhattan, it's an easy ride on the subway. There is a master of ceremonies host who tells you all the rules and conducts the voting and the penalties for overtime spent for ingredients lacking in the chef's dinner. The customers are the ones that award points. On my most recent minute visit a couple days ago I found that one chef had the most superb salmon appetizer that I have ever had. It was pretty much perfect and I would order it at any restaurant that I went to. However, he totally was a failure when it came to desserts and unfortunately, he lost the competition. It was kind of interesting as the males overly selected. The male chefs recipes has been superior and didn't really concentrate on his totally terrible dessert while the female females voted for the female chef. Most several couples were split on their vote. It was quite interesting. This would make a superb family outing or business activity, dinner or romantic date! I highly highly recommend Hudson Table!

I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend who came for an alumni networking event. The MC/Host helped set the tone and got us excited for the experience. The Chefs and Sous Chefs were awesome going head to head with their mystery basket ingredients. They got creative and delivered some amazing flavorful dishes. My favs were Chinese Bacon Soup, Arctic Salmon over Israeli Couscous, Chinese Bacon Fried Rice, and the Cheesecake with crust made from Animal Crackers! My friend and I also enjoyed an iced cold bottle of refreshing Prosecco. Notes: We got to be the judge scoring on Taste, Presentation, and Creativity. Overall, a super fun 3 hr dining experience. They took the competition seriously too with each appetizer, entree, and dessert timed (35-45 mins each segment). Highly recommend the experience but book in advance!

This was truly the most unique culinary and cultural experience that I've ever done!…read more I ventured to Borough Park to attend the Uzbek immersion workshop with Damira. She and her husband warmly welcomed us into their home and led us to a beautifully decorated table of what was described as a "welcome snack," but was actually a delicious feast in itself. There was Uzbek dried fruits, nuts, both sweet and savory pastries, and hot green tea. I loved the Uzbek raisins, which are bigger and juicier and just better than any raisins I've ever had! As we ate, Damira shared photos and stories of her family's life in Samarkand, an ancient city in Uzbekistan that lies on the silk road. Once we were all well-acquainted and nourished, we headed to the kitchen to cook the main feast. On the menu were homemade individual breads, spinach stuffed pastries, a spring cabbage salad, a cucumber potato salad, and a lamb stew. Damira was such a great teacher, demonstrating techniques before having us actively participate in the prep, cooking, and serving of each dish. She timed everything perfectly so that we had breaks and ate basically the entire afternoon, while continuing to engage us in stories of her home and culture. When we sat down for the final meal, the delicious food was somehow made even better from the meaningful connection we all shared while cooking it. The four and a half hour class flew by and while I didn't want to leave, I was very happy when we were each sent home with enough leftovers to last another two meals.

The class changed my entire perspective on how I view cooking, and I love it! Ronna took the fear out of cooking for me and removed all the blocks I had from getting myself into the kitchen. She pretty much took the stress out of cooking for me, and not only made me feel like a better mom and wife by taking the guilt out of not having home cooked meals on the table every single day, and teaching me creative ways to get meals on the table quickly, she really helped me discover a new creative side to me that I didn't think I was capable of in the kitchen! I will use the tools I learned at Purple Kale Kitchenworks for the rest of my life and will share them with others I know. The 2 hours whizzed by, and Jessie was really friendly and great and giving and showing instructions. She was also very patient with students' questions. A lot of us, including me, didn't finish the entire project during class, so we got to take home the supplies we'd need to finish at home. Jessie made sure we had the supplies and knowledge/skills so that we'd succeed at home with finishing up. The studio is nice and cozy, there were about 16 participants of mixed genders and ages. The…read moreinstructor was very knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely kind, which made the class welcoming and easy to follow. That said, there were a few organizational issues that took away from the experience. The class started late because the instructor chose to wait and see if more people would trickle in, which felt disrespectful to those of us who arrived on time. I also wish there had been clearer communication beforehand about supplies. We weren't told that we could bring our own molds, and the only molds provided were small condiment containers, which resulted in some pretty awkward and unattractive soap shapes. Better molds or advance notice would have made a big difference. It also would have been helpful if instructions or an overview of the process had been emailed ahead of time or posted on the class listing so participants knew what to expect. Additionally, a few of the soap mix-ins were unavailable. This wasn't a major issue, but it did add to the impression that the class was a bit underprepared. Overall, I still enjoyed the class and learned a lot, thanks largely to the instructor's expertise and friendliness. With better preparation and clearer communication for students, this could easily be a great experience rather than just a good one.

The group was small, just 6 people, so we got almost a private class. Entire class was well planned and organized. Each of us got some hands-on stuff to do, we asked questions, took notes, enjoyed our meal, yet we ran exactly on time. John provided a lot of information not just on specific dishes we cooked, but also on Thai cuisine fundamentals, ingredients, and main tastes. He also shared some cool cooking tips we found useful though we are not cooking beginners. We ended up with a plentiful freshly made Thai dinner consisting of Tom Yum soup with Shrimp, Fried Fish in Tamarind sauce, Thai Red Curry Chicken, and sticky rice. All the dishes came out delicious and tasted like in a Thai restaurant! And most important we've successfully reproduced these dishes at home one week later! Thank you John, and The HCNY Crew for the great experience! We highly recommend Home Cooking NY to all who likes and learns to cook!

She would explain each step from the scientific perspective as well her personal connection to the food and culture. Mukti facilitated a warm atmosphere was very welcoming and every student was able to participate rather than primarily demonstrations. We made several familiar Indian dishes (Chana, eggplant and rice) but everything was the BEST version we have had. We have been inspired to cook with whole spices and love the recipes. Thank you Mukti for such a special evening. We look forward to coming back. I would highly recommend a class with Mukti if you are looking to cook healthy and delicious food. The class size is kept small which is a huge plus especially since Mukti's knowledge of Indian spices and Ayurvedic cooking is just as powerful of an experience as the physical cooking aspect of the class. I couldn't recommend enough - what a gem!
