The biggest reason was because I've had the beef Wellington at the pourhouse and had been wanting my son to try it but he's 17 so that was a no go. The place is really nice and feels very upscale. It'd be the perfect place for date night. There was lots of food options that all sounded really good. We order the hot link stuffed mushrooms and we both got the beef Wellington medium rare. The stuffed mushrooms were to die for!!! They tasted almost like they were stuffed with hot spinach and artichoke dip with tangy cheese, a tiny bit of spice and a smokiness that reminded me of bacon. I had risotto and asparagus as the sides and my son got garlic mashed potatoes and the fancy squash with the weird name . The risotto was delicious and creamy. The asparagus was cooked perfect. It had a bit of a crunch and the very tip had a toasty edge which was amazing. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like real mashed potatoes although a bit grainy but with the perfect amount of garlic without it being too overpowering. As mentioned in another review I also needed a bit more salt. I think the reason it's lightly salted is so that you can taste the quality of the beef and it was definitely delicious on its own. The server was very quick to bring out drinks, refills, apps, food, and salt. The steaks were cooked to perfection with a beautiful pink center. Everything was great but what blew me out of the water was the quality of service we received. From the host to the server, they both seemed happy to be there and to have us as guests. Our server was so professional and thanked US every time he brought something to us. He even said things like "my pleasure" which made us feel wanted to be there regardless of us being THOSE CUSTOMERS who showed up 30 minutes before closing. I for sure thought we'd get sub par service or maybe a bit of attitude showing it was a drag we showed up at the time we did but it was the opposite. Our server still asked if we wanted to order dessert after we were done and this was well after their posted closing time. The food was delicious but the service was even better. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes and maybe even dessert. I hope all your servers are as impressive as the two we had tonight. read more

Went to happy hour here! Definitely upscale and pricier than the former Wikis. First and foremost I must commend the service, it was great! Food was brought out as it was done, fresh and hot. Ordered Greek tacos, pizza, truffle fries, Cajun butter shrimp and stuffed mushrooms. Everything was delicious. My daughter loved the truffle fries. My ultimate favorite was the steak Greek tacos. Nice chunks of meat, marinated and tender with fresh veggies. Would have ordered more happy hour drinks if they weren't $12 a drink. Kind of overpriced for happy hour! I was treated to this gorgeous spot by my Yelp bestie and wow!...what a vibe! From the moment we walked in I was fascinated by the decor. It looks so upscale, stylish, and totally sets the mood for a fun night out. Our host Kimberly was amazing ! She was welcoming and came to check on us at all the right times. Happy hour was a total win! We ordered a few things to share like the pita pizza, Greek tacos, Cajun butter shrimp, and stuffed mushrooms. Honestly everything was absolutely delicious. My personal favorite had to be the Greek shrimp tacos,they were packed with flavor and gone way too fast. I also ordered the Cadillac margarita and it was made to perfection. Wowzer!!!! Appetizers were absolutely all delicious and flavorful- shrimp in Cajun butter shrimp sauce with pita slices ( my fav) & quesadillas with mushrooms. You want a deliciously rib eye-- this is the place--Medium rare, hot, great seasoning. Al dente, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes were on point. Dessert was banana fosters bread pudding was warm and yummy! I must have been really hungry because everything was absolutely delicious. Service on a Wednesday was great and attentive. Teamwork! Went to Chef Lino's last night and were able to walk in without a reservation. Our server, Casie (I believe), was incredibly attentive. We'd only been once in the afternoon before, but wow--the atmosphere at night is completely different. It has this smooth, 50s jazz, old-era vibe that feels special the moment you walk in. The food was fantastic. The Caesar salad was solid--still chasing that Golden Steer gold standard from Vegas, but it was good. The filet was outstanding for the second time; perfectly seasoned and truly top-tier quality. The lobster was delicious, though the portion was on the smaller side. My husband had the Cajun shrimp with risotto, and while the shrimp was great, the risotto was an absolute standout. Also worth noting--the Old Fashioned was one of the best we've had locally. We came here for a brunch with our friends and we had so much fun. We came for the Galentines brunch. We were seated in a booth right away and got water and mimosas. The menu was great, it was hard to pick what to get but we were all happy with our selections. My friend and I tried the other drinks too. I loved the raspberry Moscow mule the most of all of them. For our food we ordered a veggie omelette with fruit on the side, the GOAT sandwich, the salmon lox toast and Greek chicken tacos. Everything we tried was delicious. I mean, what did we expect for Bakersfield, lol. Mildly disappointed and broke the bank. First of all, my dad wanted to watch the ball game because he's a red-blooded American dude or something and they sat us outside, even though there were TVs indoors. Twas weird but we looked past it. I may watch too many reality cooking shows because when I see the Chef's name in the name of the restaurant, I immediately assume it's going to be a life-changing dining experience. This was... meh. A for effort, for sure. I mean they even called their zucchini "Courgettes" to be fancy. But when you name something to sound upscale, for the love of God deliver on the taste. They were good, but when you're taking out a second mortgage to pay for dinner you expect a Sleepless in Seattle-esq moment when you taste it. I appreciated our waitress--she was doing the best she could. But when we asked for some bread (which we had to pay for) and a half-hour went by and we still hadn't gotten it, we got curious. Thankfully they have massive windows to put the indoors on display because we saw our waitress inside bussing tables. No wonder it took so long! Over the course of the evening, I ordered three vodka tonics. The first two were good, but the third was vodka soda. I still drank it because, hi, alcohol, but it was a bummer. The food was nothing to write home about. And when the check came, I thought my elderly father was going to stroke out. So disappointed with this restaurant! I've been waiting to try chef Lino's for a while, my husband and I needed a date night and the stars finally aligned and we went. We were sat quickly at a table. The server didn't greet us for at least 15 minutes. I ordered queen bee mocktail, the three dips with pita bread for the table, and the eggplant lasagna. My husband got the clam chowder and Gorgonzola chicken. The app took a while to come out. It came out before we got water. It was good but the babaganoush needed more eggplant and had too much yogurt. Otherwise delish. My mocktail came out in a glass with a straw. No garnish decorations a lime nothing severely disappointing for this nice of restaurant. My husband's risotto was clumpy, dry, and cold! My lasagna came out in the dish it was baked in. So weird and not aesthetic at all. I've heard many reviews swim friends that food comes out cold and service is terrible but all around I was pretty unsatisfied. Had an amazing experience at Chef Lino's Prime! I went with my mom, dad, and uncle, and it was such a great spot for a family dinner. I ordered the Moussaka and it was absolutely delicious rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. We also shared the Turkish and Zhoug hummus and the baba ghanoush appetizer, and everything was incredible. The Turkish and Zhoug was absolute perfection and brought back such fond memories with every bite. The hummus was smooth and packed with flavor, and the baba ghanoush had that perfect smoky depth. Chef Lino is hands down the best chef in town. My family loves ordering catering for him & we are all so excited for this establishment. The restaurant is dimly lit and provides a high quality dining experience at any time of the day. We were so lucky when we came for dinner one day we were offered the chef's beef Wellington and it was amazing! Perfectly cooked and we got to choose 2 sides. I usually opt for the risotto and carrots. My favorite item on the regular menu is the short rib which is fall off the bone tender and has a delicious red wine sauce. We haven been to Chef Lino's Pour House and we are so excited to have them come to the Southwest! They took over the prime location of Wiki's on Ming and Buena Vista. The interior is nicely remodeled, with a dark and sophisticated tone. The wait staff was extremely attentive. We ordered ribeye and prime rib. The prime rib has an amazing herb crust and was very flavorful. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and that radish sauce was to die for. I had the chocolate soufflé it was warm, soft, simply amazing. I am not going to be able to do justice to this review, but we had such an amazing experience, wanted to share how excited we our for this new restaurant! We saw they were having a "soft opening" and not surprisingly they were flooded with attempts to get in. I am so blessed we were able to squeeze in on Saturday with a few of our foodie friends. I'm going to come back and edit this, but I wanted to share that as we were leaving my boyfriend said he wouldn't change a thing about his meal . The drinks were amazing- our favorite- the Frances, a lemon drop with fresh raspberries, and their version of an Old Fashioned with three types of rum. It was served with chocolate truffles! Very reasonable corkage fee of $20. Our favorite entrees in this order was the butter garlic Prime New York, the grilled salmon with a roasted pepper cream sauce and the grilled New York. The sides, like Chef Lino's sides at the Pour House are amazing. My favorites was the Parmesan risotto, grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. My friend loved his courgette and roasted heirloom carrots. Chocolate lovers will love their chocolate soufflé. The venue is beautiful and classy.... Goodness what a change from the former tenant. The service is extraordinary. Several times we were checked upon . Harlan (I hope I am remembering his name correctly) really took care of us. There was a tiny oops and he went above and beyond. Chef Lino and his beautiful wife Frances are both community treasures. I'm so happy for them! Their soft opening was such a success! Can't wait to try more of Chef's Lino's delicious food! Really excited to have a new place on our side of town. The changes that were made to the inside really open up the whole place and completely change the feel. Been twice for lunch and once for a late night cocktail. The food has been really well prepared, the lamb kebab was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Loved the chicken salad sandwich (my weakness) and that you can swap out the fries to a healthier vegetable. Excited to try for dinner. Cocktails are well made and balanced. Personally always felt Bakersfield is more of a $12-15 a cocktail kinda place and they are on the higher end. Not sure how it happened but I ordered a last word and they ended up charging $25 for it..... The was absolutely amazing. The portions were just right and the menu had something for everyone even though it's not your typical restaurant menu. It's definitely a step above in offering such a varied menu. The service was perfect. Attentive but not hovering or annoying. The restaurant is beautiful inside with a cool vibe. I had high expectations for Friday night dinner, based on such great reviews...I had made reservations for dinner and when I arrived the hostesses "couldn't find my reservation" and seemed annoyed with eye rolling when I confirmed that I called around 3ish and spoke to a male, so it just started our experience a little sour. Was excited to see the renovations and hadn't been here since it was Wikis. This place has a perfect environment for date night. Our waitress Brittney was great had provided excellent service and recommendations. I do recommend the scallops as an appetizer they were delicious. It's an instant indication that a bar is solely interested in taking customers money and providing a substandard product, as opposed to providing premium tequila when a bar starts with Don Julio and Casamigos are available as tequila's. The bartender couldn't properly execute a simple cocktail request: Espalon and Club Soda with Lime. The bartenders acted insulted when I asked them for Topo Chico or Mineraqua. Too add to the insult, they charge $19 for the mid range Espalon, which is $26 for a bottle at Vons. Everyone at my table for the Holiday Party ordered.cocktails. No one finished them , they were all bland melted messes. A round of gummy bear shooters was undrinkable. This bar claims that they offer craft cocktails expertly prepared by mixologists. The bartender likes to run single drinks as opposed to opening a tab, this way he won't be bothered with future drink orders. The bartending staff was preoccupied with closing down the bar at 845 pm and acted totally inconvenienced when drink orders were placed. The decor is amazing and the interior looks amazing. Unfortunately based upon my experience with the bar, I will not return. Apparently this is a common occurrence from reading the other reviews. read more

Gave this place a second chance for brunch, and wow--what a difference! Brunch easily beats their steaks, which were not cooked to order last time. The avocado toast with poached eggs was phenomenal, and the French toast with fresh berries was equally delicious. Mai Tais and a Vietnamese coffee martini made for a perfect pairing. We decided to try Prime, which is located where the former Wiki's Wine an Dive restaurant was situated. It's still nice inside with a few new touches. We stopped by for a late lunch. For starters we ordered the shrimp, which was served with a buttery sauce and pita bread. It was very good, but I was a little surprised that it consisted of only 3 shrimps for the price being charged. Our entrees consisted of the lamb Kabob for me that I ordered with steamed asparagus and sauteed zucchini, and the beef Kabob for my husband that he ordered with asparagus and french fries. Both meals included a delicious aioli on the side. Everything was very good, and we would definitely order it again, except for the shrimp. It was too pricey for only 3. For dessert, we ordered a cheesecake to go. We were not a fan of the cheesecake. It's served with a crumbly red sugar topping that is way too sweet, which dominated the flavor of the cheesecake. I had high expectations for Chef Lino's Prime, but unfortunately, the experience fell flat. The food was surprisingly under-seasoned and lacked the depth and richness one would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Presentation was fine, but flavor simply didn't deliver. The cocktail menu was equally disappointing. I ordered an espresso martini, expecting a smooth and bold drink, but was instead served a version made with egg white--which not only altered the texture but completely threw off the flavor profile. It was confusing and unpleasant. for the premium pricing and elevated branding, I expected much more. This felt more like style over substance. Ambiance is great to start off with. Attention to detail is above par. The service never leaves you wanting for more and then there is the food....OMG. I've tried a few things there and have followed chef Lino from his various spots because his food is that good! But the NY steak. Absolutely a must try. This revue is for Taco Tuesday. Three tacos for twelve dollars doesn't sound that special in a town with really good Mexican food like Bakersfield but... . Lino's three tacos is a steal! They come in three styles, pork belly, braised beef and lamb all superb. These tacos are served Greek style, tomatoes, cucumber,cilantro with feta cheese. All served on homemade pita rounds( think med street taco size) . The pita works wonderfully with these tacos. Lamb is moist and tender beef melts in your mouth and the pork belly crispy but still moist( Lino knows how to cook pork belly). This dish is made by a chef not some 18 dollar an hour high school kid. Lino's staff is always flawless and never disappoints. Ambience is upscale and beautifully appointed for Christmas. What can I say about Chef Lino's PRIME other than amazing!!! We went there tonight for a birthday dinner. We made reservations in advance and they had a room with a table all set up for us. The staff was top notch and very accommodating. The food was out of this world and almost too good to be Bakersfield restaurant. I had the Filet Gorgonzola with carrots and risotto. The steak was extremely tender and cooked perfectly. The risotto had amazing flavor and the carrots were the perfect complement to the steak. Everybody enjoyed the food and had zero complaints.
