This is a fun side of the road food truck kinda place. Looking for lunch, we discovered this through Yelp. They only had outside seating, so think it's not year round. The outdoor seating was pretty basic picnic type tables which were OK. They only accept cash or Venmo, so come prepared. We both ordered hamburgers and fries. They came out quickly, even though there were a good number of people there. Fun and quirky - check it out (in warm weather)!

Just go! What a little gem. We stopped on our way back from stowe to CT for lunch. Tacos were phenom. Reasonably priced - around 5 to 6 per taco. 2 is a meal. Decoration was funky and cool. Hubby and I loved it and are happy we stopped in! ! We went in dec , so ate in the cafe , the bus and side area were closed. Loved the asian pulled pork taco better than the pork avacado one. They even have falafel ones ! Sigh , wish I cud have one closer to home. Cash and checks only tho !!!

What a cool spot! We stopped in for breakfast burritos before hitting the road. We were greeted promptly at the window & received our burritos freshly made to order within minutes! Takeout only at this time so we enjoyed them in the car. Just delicious with really good sausage (not the frozen link kind!!). Would definitely recommend.

Great food. Crab Cake sandwich was very good. The buns they use are excellent. Wife had pulled pork sandwich which was great. Ordered onion rings which were nice but bit pricey. Otherwise rest of the food prices were very reasonable. Bees kept bothering us but we enjoyed the lunch at a very reasonable price.

My husband and I stopped here during our trip to Quechee Gorge. It's such a fun place to stop and eat some great bbq! The lady in the food truck was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Asian bbq pulled pork sandwich and the salad with grilled chicken. The pork sandwich was really juicy and delicious however, I expected there to be a more Asian flavored sauce on it... either it wasn't on there or it was just a very light sauce. The coconut curry slaw is incredible! Such a genius concoction. The salad with grilled chicken was good, and they offer a nice variety of salad/sauce options. The fries were so crispy and flavorful. We Definitely want to come back sometime and try the tacos!

Ran into some folks here who say it's the best local joint in town! Only open for summer and fall hours, but they say they are doing breakfast and brunch through the winter in Quechee - so be on the lookout for that! Mostly fish items on the menu, some meaty options like a pork taco and a burger. Hardly any veggie options, but I feel like they are so accommodating here and would fix you up whatever you're craving. I had the seared salmon with a bed of field greens, it was delicious. Salmon was tender but crispy on the outside (a little oily but it's ok, I enjoyed it). The people who run this place are extremely personable and kind, and they remember things about you! You can eat in a wildly decorated school bus or outside at picnic tables. Apparently Brad (the chef) is a special one - some say he provides gourmet food! I agree and I would recommend this "joint" to any and all, especially those who are traveling through.

My dad had heard good things from neighbors so we decided to come for dinner one night. The first odd thing was the hours. There were different hours listed on Yelp, Google, and on their voicemail (I since corrected the Yelp hours). I was really surprised to see that a place open for dinner closes at 8pm. It's a neat spot though. Sitting on top of a hill, there's a surf-themed food truck, outdoor tables, small garden, and a school bus (!!) with more seating. The school bus is obviously a big draw - it's well renovated and had lots of available seating. Pretty cool! After perusing Yelp reviews, I decided to order fish tacos. They were.... meh. The fish was beer battered and honestly pretty flavorless. Usually fish tacos are either grilled or breaded with something crunchy like panko. Then on top of the tacos was raw cabbage and a mystery pink sauce. It wasn't the worst thing I'd ever had, but it I was surprised so many Yelpers gave it rave reviews. Basically, this place is kitschy and sort of a fun novelty visit, but don't come expecting legitimately good food (at least in my experience). I can see it being good for kids. Also, it's BYOB, so that's fun for adults!

I am Celiac, so I was questioning different items on the menu to see if they were gluten-free. The majority of the waitstaff didn't know much about whether items were gluten-free or not. They did go back to the cooks and find out. We had the chips & guacamole, and street corn cob as an appetizer. The chips for the chips and guac were mostly broken, which was disappointing, but the guacamole was very good. The tortilla chips are not gluten-free. They are made of corn, but are cooked in the same fryer as the churros which means they are cross contaminated. The street corn on the cob was excellent and we found out, gluten-free. Two of the members of our group had burritos. They were very big and well wrapped. They both enjoyed them. The rest of us had tacos. We had Carne Asada. (Excellent!), tuna (also very good) and pork (excellent!). If you don't like spice, the pork is the way to go. I ordered the chickpea and sweet potato side with my tacos. It was so spicy it was un edible. Even those in our group who like a lot of spice said it was too much and I couldn't eat it. Overall, it was a great meal. We really enjoyed ourselves. The deck was nice and I did not get sick from cross contamination. Overall, Trail Break was a winner.

I googled and found "The Box." www.theboxfoodtruck.com I read their story and their menu. It sounded pretty great. So I contacted Caleb Lara (chef/owner of The Box) and arranged for him to park out front of The Hartland Diner (I own The Diner) for my birthday and "cater" for my 20-30 guests. Best. Idea. Ever. Caleb grew up in the San Diego/Baja, California area and trained at the Culinary Institute of America. After he was laid off during Covid he was able to buy The Box food truck and launched a menu based upon the Mexican taco/burrito/nacho style of the area he grew up in. O.M.G. Caleb's food is OFF THE CHARTS. Delicious beyond anything you're imagining, or anything any of us in The Upper Valley has ever had, if we're talking about tacos, nachos, burritos, Mexican "street food." The Box is serving local pork and beef (they will tell you which local farms they source from) and using The Best Quality fish that comes directly from The Boston Fish Market to The Upper Valley from Wood Mountain Fish. I personally do not eat beef, pork or poultry. But I DO eat fish. The Box's fish tacos are The Best fish tacos I've ever had. And I've eaten a lot of different kinds of fish tacos in a lot of different places. The fish is SO BEAUTIFULLY FRESH and fried to order right there inside the truck. Your actual taco shell/tortilla can make or break a taco experience. For me, it HAS to be a fresh made corn tortilla. That really is the only legitimate taco. The Box is using only fresh made, Guerrero corn tortillas that are so delicious I'd eat them alone. The vast majority of Pico de Gallo in this world is very disappointing. It tends to lack flavor and your tomatoes need to be excellent. Pico has ZERO shelf life. It is fresh ingredients and you need to make it and serve it FRESH. The Box's Pico de Gallo is the best I've ever eaten (I've eaten Pico all over the Southwest - so I'm not just talking here). Flavorful, delicious, FRESH. Tacos also have actual, Cotijo cheese. Once you've eaten these foods with legit Cotijo cheese there is no going back. Actual, authentic ingredients are what Caleb uses in The Box and you can tell. The Box serves everything with their own, fresh, from scratch salsa made with tomatoes, tomatillos, habanero peppers, amongst other things. It is INSANELY good and elevates the food even further. (I LOVE LOVE LOVE tomatillos.) I did not eat ALL DAY on my birthday so I would have room for as much Mexican food as possible. I ate 4 fish tacos. AND nachos. Since I don't eat chicken (The Box's nachos are usually made with Caleb's pulled chicken) Caleb made me vegetarian nachos. My friends. I. Love. Nachos. I could potentially eat nachos every day of my life. Sadly, most nachos are really terrible, with that horrendous so-called "nacho cheese." NOT THESE NACHOS!!! The Box nachos are made with their own, house made Guerrero tortilla chips (CRAZY FREAKING DELICIOUS), slow simmered Pinto beans (one of my favorite beans), fresh Cotijo cheese, Chipotle Crema (again, just so much more delicious than anything you've ever eaten), the house made salsa and the most perfectly ripe avocado sliced over top. It cost me about $1000 to feed my entire party the most delicious Mexican food they'd ever had and AS MUCH of it as they wanted AND I did not have to clean a single plate or pot. Just a fantastic, wonderful, DELICIOUS experience. Caleb and Donna, who ran the truck and cooked for us and served us were WONDERFUL. And Donna SANG ME Happy Birthday. I will be hiring The Box for EVERY gathering in the future. I'm not even kidding. GET THESE TACOS. Any way you can.

The tacos themselves were nicely warmed and the guac and trimmings were fresh. All in all two really tasty tacos. They were doing a promotion that day so we only got to try the carnitas, but I'd definitely go back to try their other menu items next time. Really friendly staff too. It made it a pleasure to lunch from the truck.

The proceeds from the event will be shared to support youth recreation in New London as well as college and trade scholarships, literacy initiatives, and special charitable assistance by the Rotary Club. This year's event was a mid-scale plan and hosted 11 food trucks ranging from French fries and hamburgers to Burmese food. It was a superb and eclectic variety of food. The weather cooperated as it was an absolutely gorgeous day. However, the size of the crowd exceeded all expectations and over 1,200 people showed up to enjoy a delicious array of food The busiest truck was perhaps a grilled cheese truck that was the favorite with children and there was easily a 45-minute wait to get food. Next to it, a Home made French fries truck was also commanding half hour waits. On the other side, a Jamaican food truck, a Cajun truck, and a seafood truck with amazing lobster rolls were some of the salient ones. Towards the middle, a Burmese food stand and a cupcake dessert truck were available. Two great local establishments also made a hit. Grounds Coffeehouse provided muffins and gluten-free bakery items and fresh-roasted coffee. And Salt Hill Pub's local brew selections were presented in a fenced-in area. It absolutely rocked this year. And next year it's going to be even better.
