Arrived here hungry after driving over from Stowe and left stuffed. Portions are huge; we got the haddock dinner and shrimp dinner l, which were served with fries (plenty of them) and coleslaw. No-frills counter service, with plenty of outdoor picnic tables for seating. Good value for money. read more

What the heck this place is good, maybe great. Fisherman's platter was both huge and fresh. Very good. The veggie burger was insanely good. Fried were awesome. And the Giffords ice cream was perfect. Service was amazing, really nice people. Well worth the visit. read more

GET THE ICE CREAM. Maple ice cream. This is my 2nd maple ice cream in two days, and I am not upset about it. They have awesome food options here too, hot dogs and sandwiches. We got the seafood platter $22 and a maple shake $7 Pros: Quick service Friendly staff Large platter portion Ice cream in shake was thick and creamy Outdoor seating Cons: Bland seafood. Shake tasted like vanilla not maple Shake overpriced The seafood platter looked sooooo delicious but the scallops and clams had no flavor. Typically, quality clams and scallops will have a sweet fresh seafood taste. If I closed my eyes and took a bite I basically would of had no idea what I was eating. Now the piece of fish seemed to be the highlight. Nice filet that was white and flakey. It was haddock. I would recommend the fish and chips instead of the seafood platter. The shake had a nice creamy vanilla taste but no way did it taste like maple. All and all I would return but try something else. read more

Came here late August 2021* while camping, we decided to treat ourselves and ordered a clam strip roll and a lobster roll- both were served hot and Since then, I have made a point to try lobster rolls whenever I see them offered --which, full disclosure, as a Virginian, hasn't been super often-- but I have yet to find a lobster roll as yummy, generously portioned, and cheap as this one. On a hot hot day in July, this place was a life saver. We were by the gorge, hiking down into it actually, and had a bunch of kids in tow. I'm not much of a hiking guy, so after seeing the gorge from above, I was done. I thought to myself, "There's an ice cream stand, I'll just take the kids for maple creemees." But no maple creemees. At the ice cream shop. In Vermont. It feels like a crime. The hard ice cream was good. The kids enjoyed it. Heck, it's probably better than whatever a maple creemee machine would have cranked out. But I wanted that taste of Vermont. How I wish a clerk would have pointed me toward the Vermont Maple Shake. It might have scratched the itch. But with the extensive menu, and being partially blind by the sweat pouring into my eyes from the heat, I somehow missed it on my own. At least there was shade for the picnic tables, and some interesting people watching to be had. Maybe there should be some kind of state law that all ice cream stands near tourist attractions have to sell maple creemees. Then it really would be a crime not to have them available at the gorge. read more

Stopped for a maple shake and ended up getting lunch. My boyfriend loves the maple shakes and now I see why. My grilled cheese was too greasy but not bad. The scallop roll was HUGE and worth the price. I got maple walnut ice cream and the portion was pretty big for a small. Worth the stop! read more

Quick stop here after Queechee Gorge. There isn't too much to say really. My visit was rather brief. Seems like the line can be hit or miss. I got caught in it for a few minutes and no one was really behind me after. I got a quick hot dog. Nice char on the dog without being over cooked. They toasted the bun well. It gave it good texture. I asked for sauerkraut because I saw they serve a Reuben. They were happy to comply. I've eaten a lot Of sauerkraut in my life coming from a Polish and German back ground. It's worth your time. Salty and briny while the cabbage itself still had some backbone and not reduced to mush. I did not have the ice cream but I tried someone else's. The Maple walnut is very good. read more

We had the haddock and mixed seafood platter. Food was freshly cooked with hand cut fries and onion rings. If you're lucky enough to try it you should! First off, if you are in any kind of hurry or just want to grab a quick bite-don't stop here, especially if it's peak time or there is any kind of crowd. We waited 20 minutes for a couple hot dogs, fries and a veggie burger. As far as the food, my husband really enjoyed the veggie burger. My grandson and I gave thumbs up to the grilled hot dogs. The fries were too dark for my liking, but they didn't taste bad. I had issues with the cleanliness. One of the trash bins was overflowing, and (stupid) people had used the doggie bag disposal for their garbage so that was also overflowing. Tables had not been wiped down and finally there were no bathrooms. Public bathrooms (clean) are located across route 4 in the Quechee Visitor Center. But beware when crossing the highway because there are many out of state visitors in the area who aren't aware of the Vermont state law requiring them to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. All in all, I wasn't particularly happy with my stop here. The White Cottage Snack Bar is a short drive further west in Woodstock. I suggest you check that out. read more

Was driving through and stopped for the Quechee Gorge. Was really convenient to have the Snack Bar right there. Our whole party enjoyed the food: chicken tenders, mac & cheese, burger, patty melt, and fried clams. Big portions and all-around a good little place. read more

I love this place! The prices are affordable and not overly inflated like many places. The food is always fresh and hot. I've had the Mac and Cheese which was yummy. I've also had the burgers, fries, and hot dogs, all were delicious. The ice cream is extremely rich and creamy and the portions are also well priced and huge! The only negative is that there are a lot of wasps/yellow jackets flying around outside, but that's part of nature and what can you really do about that? If you can't handle nature and it's creatures then Vermont is not the state for you. read more

Cannot say if anything is good as, while we were reading the menu on the wall, an employee came out the door and walked between us and the menu, got into a car and drove away. No comment, nothing. Left "Open" sign hanging on door. If that's the way they treat customers who haven't been served yet, it's hard to believe the actual service is worthwhile. read more
