Highly recommend. Quaint and cozy. Nice outdoor seating but we chose to stay inside. Service was excellent. Our waitress Kylie was attentive, friendly, professional, courteous and polite. As well as the hostess and food servers. We ordered the mussels scampi for appetizer. The fish & chips and seafood fra Diavlo special for our entrees. Plenty seafood especially lobster which was awesome. All the food were cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious and worth the price. This was a cute place that we found from yelp. In the area for a tournament. The place has a country style feel to it. Staff was helpful and service was amazing. They started us off with the sweet bread which was tasty . We got the steak Frites, crab fried rice and chocolate lava cake. Steak fries was on point. It was perfectly cooked. The fried were super crispy. The fried rice was okay. It could of use more crab meat. The chocolate lava cake was so rich and sweet. Needed another scoop of ice cream for the sweet cake. They turn people away for no reason - they don't want customers It was midday Sunday, October 16. My wife, our daughter and I wanted to try Cheever Tavern for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside on the patio. There were plenty of empty tables outside. We went to the hostess stand and asked to sit outside. The hostess told us they don't have anything available outside, even though we just saw that wasn't true. We asked to sit inside, which was mostly empty. She smugly told us "We're not accepting walk-ins at this time." She was literally standing in front of a room full of empty tables. I asked "All these empty tables behind you are reserved?" And she repeated, "We're not accepting walk-ins at this time." Dumbfounded, we left. On the way out we ran into another family that had been turned away just before us - a husband, a pregnant wife and a young child. She'd told them the same thing. Was it because we had children? There were plenty of kids running around the patio, so they'd been allowed. There was no staff shortage and the place wasn't even half full. Our kids were well behaved, so why weren't we allowed? There was no conceivable reason for the snooty hostess to turn us away. I even check Cheever's online reservations and there were plenty of tables available to reserve, so why the hell were we not allowed? We couldn't even get a reason from them. It was embarrassing and insulting. What a stupid, trashy place. Instead, we went to The Blacksmith Tavern in Pembroke, a much better establishment. They were friendly, accommodating and professional. The food was fantastic, the service was quick and the price was reasonable. It was everything Cheever Tavern was not. We live in the area and we like to dine out. We tip well too. I'm going to tell everyone I know to avoid Cheever Tavern. If you're thinking of visiting Cheever Tavern, don't waste your time. Go to The Blacksmith Tavern in Pembroke instead, you'll have a much better time. read more

I cannot believe I've not been here sooner. First off, classy place. Well built and organized. Like something you'd expect on MV or Nantucket. Most importantly, the food. We had: Brussels Sprouts & Meatball Slider apps. Wow. Delicious! Then kids MacNCheese, probably the best tasting Mac N Cheese, ever.... Wife had the Cheever Hot Chicken Sandwich & and I had the Haddock Entree. I cannot remember the last time EVERYTHING I ate was unbelievably tasty. Service was great. Very disappointing experience here last week. Unfortunately the waiting area here is practically non existent so don't go without a reservation. We made that mistake and we were stuck in a tiny nook in front of the hostess desk where people coming in and people leaving are walking by with little to no room. Awkward! We were told the wait would be 45 minutes which we were fine with despite our cramped waiting spot. We were surprised looking around at so many open tables ! Why the long wait? Also no one else was waiting. Anyway we ended up being sat much sooner which we were excited about ! We had the Bavarian pretzel appetizer, basic but good. My 7 year old ordered the Mac and cheese off the kids menu which she enjoyed. And a side of mashed potatoes for 8$ which were beyond basic for the price. I had the Caesar salad and added steak tips. I know times are tough but for 15$ worth of steak the amount they put on my plate wouldn't have even been enough for a kids serving. 3 tiny bite size pieces of steak. The flavor was good but the salad itself was nothing special. What made it even less special is the tiny bug that came crawling from under my salad and on to the table. Eeeeeek lost my appetite immediately. Management handled it super well and was very nice by taking my meal off the bill. My husband had the chicken sandwich and said it was super disappointing. After a hot day at the beach, I did not want to get in the kitchen and cook dinner for my family. Instead, we called the all new Cheever Tavern and were able to get dinner reservations. Since it was so hot out, we elected to sit indoors. When we arrived, there were plenty of diners enjoying the warm evening. We were quickly escorted to our table. The air conditioning made for a comfortable dining experience. Our servers, Meryl and Eddie were friendly and efficient. The space that the Cheever Tavern inhabits what was once a dive bar. Make no mistake, the Cheever Tavern is no dive bar. Instead, the owners nailed that coastal style that has the atmosphere of a lovely seaside retreat: clean, cool and calming. And yes, there is a great looking bar that is sure to be the place to sit, once the scamdemic ends in November. The service was great. The ambience was great. What about the food? By all accounts, we enjoyed everything that they put in front of us: The Street Tacos, Chicken under a Brick, Field Greens, Turkey Burgers...all delicious with no leftovers to bring home. As a Norwellian, I am thrilled that we now have the Cheever Taven to turn to. Norwell is a town full of decent residents and now, we have a local place to visit for a good meal. read more

Great patio and delicious lobster roll! They've done a fabulous job remodeling. In current times glad they had the foresight to invest in the patio space. Seating is well spread out and has a fabulous gas fire pit, providing nice ambiance and comfort when the sun goes down. We started with guacamole, which was a large portion served with chips. The lobster rolls were perfect and ample, 1/3 lb of lobster meat on butter toasted brioche roll - add a few beverages and it was a perfect meal. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

First time having crispy chicken skins with onion dip and I have to say the flavors work and it was one of my favorite appetizers I have had in a long time. Our meal tonight was delicious! We both had the short rib burger. They were cooked just right. Desert was amazing! We had chocolate lava cake with ice cream and whipped cream. I don't which was better, the ice cream or the whipped cream ! Our server was very nice! The only complaint I have, I made reservations, at 10:00 am, the time table showed nothing but bar high tops available for the time I chose. Great staff from the moment you walk in - host to bartender - you'll get exactly what you're looking for. My girlfriend and I were there and had a Moroccan Old Fashioned (best old fashioned i've ever had) and a bottle of reserve Merlot wine that our server recommended... didn't know they had reserves here! We stopped into Cheever Tavern this afternoon on our way home. It was early, like 4:00PM but the staff welcomed us in!! We chose to sit outside because it was such a nice day, the Sun was perfect and it wasn't too hot. Our Server John was great, He suggested the Street Corn which we LOVED!! He was also very helpful When it came to our entrees; Purple Haze Salad with ( Perfectly Cooked) Salmon and the Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp. I gotta say the Basil Fried Rice was AMAZING! It was crunchy, and sweet with perfectly cooked shrimps on top! They also have a nice wine and beer selection, I opted for the local Stellwagen "Cape Traffic IPA". We were trying to allow for being short staffed but this wasn't the case tonight. Nice location but way overpriced, food ok but not great, small portions. They sneak and extra 5% charge for the "kitchen staff". A very hidden charge, when I asked to have it removed, it was in the lower back corner of the menu, so small you could not see it with a telescope, they refused, I took 5% off my tip. The 5% charge is pre meals tax so you get another 7% tax on the 5% fee. Ya that just pisses me off, pay your staff yourself and how do we know they are getting it? Parking is a pain and in very short supply. Think I am done with this place. read more

We've gotten take-out from Cheever twice and both the food and experience have been fantastic. They've gone above and beyond for my gluten allergy, are so friendly on the phone and in-person, and the food has been delicious both times.
