I had the taste for a Philly steak and found this place . Parking is strip mall parking. Staff was pleasant- both the cashier and the person who handed me the food . Now you was gonna spend like almost $20 bucks for a sandwich . But it's so big you can share it with someone or you can save it to eat later maybe :) I tried the Gilroy- which is a cheesesteak on the garlic seeded bread roll. Pretty damn good and so much meat I couldn't even finish. I also added onions for $1 read more

Cheessteaks - THE GILROY- cheesesteak on garlic seeded bread - Cheesesteaks Near Me - Kenilworth, New Jersey

I stopped by the Kenilworth location because I was craving a cheesesteak. I'd never been to this one before, but I've been to the Belmar location a few times and it's never let me down. Unfortunately, this location taught me one thing: with this place, location really does matter. The experience started off on the wrong foot. I walked in, and the cashier didn't greet me or acknowledge me in any way. She just looked at me like I was supposed to already know the routine. I actually did know what I wanted, but it would have been nice to be treated like a customer instead of someone interrupting her day. While I was looking over the menu to see if I wanted to add anything else to the order, she simply said she'd be back and walked away. Okay then. I ended up ordering two cheessteaks (intentionally spelled this way to match the menu item), one for me and another for a friend. I had spent the whole drive talking this place up because of how much I enjoyed the Belmar location. The service was much faster than at the Belmar location. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. Then we took our first bites... and immediately I wished I had lower expectations. The cheesesteak just wasn't good. The steak didn't taste fresh or even like steak, the cheese couldn't save it, and the whole thing was surprisingly bland. I've had better cheesesteaks from a random deli in Philly (if you know, you know). I actually apologized to my friend because I hyped this place up so much and it's safe to say that we didn't get much out of this meal besides a good story. I won't be coming back to this location. If you're really craving a cheesesteak and would like to try this place, I'd suggest visiting their Belmar location instead. This location just isn't it. read more

Cheesesteak! This place is nestled between a few food spots but when you jump out the car, you smell their food you walk in to a while open space there's a few places to sit down and eat very small menu option, but I know they're up-and-coming business. Can't wait to see how far they grow went here and tried the strawberry wings, cajun garlic butter wings, and The Gilroy sandwich. You see strawberry wings and have a second guess Sweet n Savory together all in one, boy was I wrong definitely 10 out of 10 for the strawberry wings as well as the Cajun garlic butter I would definitely get those again as for the cheesesteak. It was good. Served on a nice fresh sesame seed roll but way too much cheese. The cheese itself takes away from the sandwich. Definitely recommend getting cheese on the side. read more

Even though it's located in a strip mall, the parking can be a turn-off. And because they're in such demand, the wait for your food can be another turn-off. BUT other than that, I really liked this place. It's nothing fancy but it's clean and roomy. The food was fantastic! I wish they had a better variety of cheeses for the cheesesteaks but it was yummy anyway. We even got the blueberry bbq wings which sounds weird but what a delicious surprise! A little oversauced so next time, I'm gonna ask for the sauce on the side. All that sauce kinda took away from the crunch. The prices were nice for what they give you. read more

Hit up cheesesteaks for some wings. I went with the pineapple and strawberry variants. The food came out fresh but some of the wings were hard. Could have been from the coating of the sauces. I did prefer the pineapple to strawberry. Interest concept and is definitely come back to try other offerings. Check them out if you're in the area. read more

The food here was really good, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1--but the overall experience wasn't great. We ordered online, but the order status never updated from "received" to "ready." We tried calling several times, but all calls went to voicemail, so there was no way to reach them. By the time we went to pick up the order--almost two hours later--the food was cold. When we mentioned the online order issue, we were told that the system was broken. I'd be willing to give them another try because the food itself is good, but I wanted to note that the ordering and pickup experience needs improvement. read more

Brand new location for this franchise, so I'm adding it to Yelp. Cheessteaks (not a typo) is a small location inside of a small lot on the Boulevard, which is the main strip of Kenilworth. Like most people, I saw this on a viral reel on Instagram. They just opened this past Saturday (12/13/25). I figured waiting a few days would help, & apparently it did. I waited 1hr 10mins 55secs from walking in to walking out. That is NOT a complaint! I just was curious how long it would take. Small setup with some tables & chairs, not much more to it. Parking was troublesome as it sits inside of a small strip mall. Staff were doing an excellent job with keeping up with the insane demand that comes from going viral. The line was out the door when I arrived & the lot was a disaster, but again, the staff did an excellent job of managing everything & keeping their cool. I placed a large order as I was placing a work order. Everything in our order was correct! We had (not repeating how many of each we had) The OG, The Cheessteak, & a Chicken Cheessteak. All were excellent, everyone loved their cheesesteaks. We will definitely be back once the hype dies down. Grades: Cheessteak: A The OG: A Chicken Cheessteak: A read more

Good cheesesteaks but the wings are average. Crazy to me that the wings do not come with blue cheese or ranch, instead they charge $1 for a tiny soufflé cup. read more

Stopped in for lunch today and wasn't disappointed, Iv been too the Belmar location which is better but this one was good, which is why I have to give up his one a 4 and not a 5. The steak was flavorful and cheesy, the bread was perfect very fresh. The amount of meat that comes on the sandwich is perfect and is very worth the money. The workers are very nice and food came out fast. Plenty of seating inside and love the painting on the walls inside. Parking is a bit hard as there are other places in the strip mall that it's in. read more

Came in for a couple cheesesteaks. Stood in line for 30 min to order. That was my choice. No problem. Sat around for 45 min after ordering and watched so many people, who ordered way after us pickup before us. Not happy about that. When we asked about our order, we got it in 2 min. Coincidence? I think it. Regarding the cheesesteak. I'm not a fan of minced meat (especially a premium ribeye), therefore I wasn't a fan of this cheesesteak. Was so mushy. Like something you'd feed to a baby. A real disservice to ribeye. But the sesame seed roll was excellent. Stayed nice and chewy. For me, the bread was the star. read more

Have been waiting to give this place a try . Small location not a lot of tables so will be a hit or miss if you will get a table but don't let it stop you from grabbing some take out . Service was pretty quick so we didn't wait too long for our food . We ordered an original cheesesteak which I will say was pretty hearty with meat and the cheese was blended well so it was a consistent bite and the sesame Italian bread was a good touch . We also decided to give the peach cobbler sweet but you definitely get a bite of heat and strawberry wings tasted more sweet with the imitation strawberry drizzle ( did not really care for the taste). Now I would say the peach cobbler were much better than the strawberry. I would definitely return for the cheesesteak but not so much for the wings. I wish them the best of luck . read more

I visited cheesesteaks, I give em a7, a good sandwich but as for me wasn't no big fireworks,. Average good depending on your love for cooper sharp cheese, which makes it a buzz., very well portioned in size , only 2 cheese options cooper, n whizz, I recommend if you're gonna be a soul cheese steak place you should have many more options ,but I will return to try wings which did get my attention... the service was good n place has cool vibes n good seating available . Looking for good cheese steaks in North Jersey is really hard to find. I just happen to be in Kenilworth on a Saturday afternoon and decided to stop in for a cheesesteak. Waste of money and time. Tried canceling my order after waiting an hour, but they wouldn't refund it LOL. Ended up waiting two hours for terrible food. Staff is rude and unorganized. They had orders literally sitting for those two hours , not even on a hot rack. They were legit laughing about how they lie to their customers about wait times just to "make that money." Crazy. It's just a matter of time before someone gets sick from this place. read more

This was hands down the best cheesesteak I have had, bread was crunchy and seasoned perfect and the steak with cooper sharp made it absolutely amazing!! I added hot honey wings and honestly didn't need them because of how good cheesesteak was but I was glad I did because they were unbelievable as well, very meaty and the sauce was incredible!! read more

Ordered take out. God mango habanero wings, panzerotti and of course a cheesesteak. Wings were on the sweeter side and not as spicy as I would've hoped for. Panzerotti was lack luster. The fried dough was a bit sweet which was good but the cheese inside was flavorless. Being that it was reddish I assumed it would've been pizza flavor. Lastly, the cheesesteak was good. Packed with meat and cheese. I just wish it had a bit more flavor. Also ordered my bread without seeds and still got seeds. Overall good spot, nothing crazy. Spent hours on the toilet after and felt like something exploded inside me. I blame that panzerotti. Skip that. read more

We got the garlic Parmesan chicken cheesesteak and the strawberry wings. I'm almost embarrassed to say but after seeing a ton of Tiktoks swearing that this place was incredible I made the 45 minute trip to try it. Save your money. I wish it was as delicious as it looked online but what I got was too heavy and the flavor was not there. Bread was ok. The wings were ok, interesting spin on wings with the strawberry sauce but it tasted like they were smothered and covered in a heavy sweet sauce after being cooked read more

I didn't have to wait long for my order like the other reviews, but it was not good. You can tell they get their meat frozen from US Foods. You can tell they literally put sugar on the onions to caramelize it because they don't know how to do it properly and there's way too much pepper on it. I threw half of the meat out, absolutely terrible. After having a cheesesteak at Verona Pizza in maple glen PA I can't even tolerate garbage like this. I will drive the hour and a half next time I want a cheesesteak. read more

Very good cheesesteak, sesame roll, overflowing with goodness. Be prepared to wait, it took about 40 minutes for it to be ready, there was about 20 people waiting inside and no one seemed to care how long it took. That's when I first knew this was going to be something special. Parking lot is very small so do not anticipate finding a spot when they open. Overall super clean place super friendly super busy. These guys are going to do great. Keep up the good work I will see you again read more

The food was good (not amazing, I make a better one myself), but not worth standing on line for an ENTIRE lunch break, an hour, to get two sandwiches. They have been there for months. They should have their process streamlined by now so it doesn't take so long. read more

Cheesesteak is good, but the guy in the front that takes your order screws up your order. Make sure your order is correct before you leave. I clearly told him NO green peppers or onions and he adds it then charge me for it. My second visit I told him non seeded bread he gives me seeded bread. Come on. I guess he's a little slow or has a hearing problem. Parking sucks. So be prepared to look for parking. Or have to double park. read more

Got one to go. Heavy on the cheese, and the roll, though very good, was too small to accommodate the generous amount of meat. Onions were soggy. So when I got home I had to scape a lot of the meat/cheese/onion mixture off the thin paper wrapping. I love cheese, but I think there was a little too much mixed in with the meat and the whole thing, while tasty, was a little mushy. I'll be back because it's local for me and it has no local competition but it could be improved. read more

Best cheese steak sandwich anywhere ! Drove to Kenilworth from Lyndhurst just to get a couple of sandwiches well worth the trip !

Okayyyyyyy,,,,,,,after much anticipation, and after the initial crowd dwindled down, I finally got a chance to order and see what this place was all about. I ordered the chicken cheesesteak sandwich. My wife got a regular steak sandwich. My chicken cheesesteak sandwich was a nightmare. The chicken was cubed and not chopped or shredded. The amount of chicken was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy toooooo much. It overwhelmed the roll as most of it was just jammed on top of the roll and stuck to the wrapping paper which held it. When I unwrapped it, the chicken and cheese mixture just fell all over the place as it created a big f****ng mess. The cheese appeared to be the liquid artificial cheese they use to sell in cans back in the 80s called Cheese Whiz. It was horrible as it left a terrible aftertaste and required something strong to drink to eliminate. The green peppers and mushrooms were very few and appeared overcooked as they were slimy and rubbery, respectively. The ratio of ingredients were totally off as the cheese dominated the sandwich making the roll a soggy mess which caused it to separate at the bottom as the contents spilled out when I picked up the sandwich to eat it. The only good thing worth noting is the roll, which was fresh and toasted. My wife's steak sandwich was the same as my sandwich, minus the cheese. She said the meat was like eating cooked leather. We both ended up throwing the sandwiches away after forcing ourselves to take several bites. What a horrible experience. After eating some of it, I felt some kind of guilt.........like I had committed some kind of sin. My stomach was saying to me, "what in the hell are you doing to me"? I think I might need a drink at this point to dull the pain and erase the memory of such horror. Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to like this place. You see, I am a sandwich connoisseur and know a good chicken cheesesteak. I've had Jersey Mike's, Sabarro's and many Italian chicken cheesesteaks from Italian pizza joints from here to Philadelphia, and this by far is the worst. This was not money well spent as I threw away $40. The building's environment was not good. The floor is a botched-up concrete slab that really is a subfloor, but they are using it as a functional floor surface. There was no tile or carpet overly. The bathroom had an electrical socket, right above the sink, that was not protected with ground fault interruption circuitry (GFI) and did not have a protective cover-plate. The tables in the dining area were wobbly. This place has been open for maybe 2 weeks and it already looks worned down. I could go on and on but I'll stop here. I could be wrong, but see for yourself. I believe that this place will be out-of-business by the end of this year. read more

I just had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak on garlic-seeded bread and I'm not even exaggerating -- this might be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bread alone deserves a shoutout. That garlic-seeded roll was perfectly toasted, soft on the inside with just the right crisp on the outside. Every bite had that buttery garlic flavor that makes you not want to put it down. The chicken was loaded and cooked perfectly -- juicy, tender, and tossed in buffalo sauce that had the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Not too spicy, not bland -- just straight up addictive. The cheese melted into everything perfectly and tied it all together. And it was HUGE. They did not skim on portions at all. Definitely got my money's worth and then some. If you're thinking about ordering it -- do it. No hesitation. 10/10. Would absolutely get it again. read more

Just had one chicken and one beef cheesesteak, took forever to make two cheese steaks, and it was $38. You should call your doctor and tell him that you're gonna have one before you start to eat this because it is nothing but cheese this thing is gotta be so bad for you that you could only eat half of one a year. I would not go back at any price, the place inside is not even nice. It is the cheapest quality crap you can get,. I went. I tried it. I'll never go back as a matter of fact, I had a piece of each of the sandwiches and I'm done with them just not worth it way over done with the cheese. It should be called the cheese sandwich. read more

$17 for a chicken cheesesteak that is just dry chicken on a roll is a ripoff.
