I have tried this place several times. I have never had a good experience. There is always a long wait, the menu is mediocre and the service is terrible. It is seriously so bad that three of the times we went, we left with complimentary meals from the manager. The last of those ended up expiring in my purse because we did not want to go back. We here for lunch and was so disappointed. We were seated in a booth which had obviously lost all it's spring and padded as the table came up almost as high as my neck. I felt like I was seated at a giants table. There is an incredible selection of food in the menu except if you are vegan or vegetarian and then you have barely anything. Good thing I'm a vegetarian that eats fish. My sides were black beans which had zero flavor and broccoli which was okay. We come to Cheddars pretty often. Usually when we are on this side of the city already, a good lunch/late lunch stop. today we chose Cheddars and I was a little disappointed. I love the dijon chicken and mushrooms which is what I ordered. Upon arrival at our table I was dismayed that it was barely warm, almost cool. Yikes. The chicken was cooked well all the way through so maybe the sauce wasnt hot enough when plated? This brings me to the sauce. This is a dijon mustard dish and is usually so delicious. This time the dijon flavor was SO overpowering I almost wanted to scrape it off the chicken. It comes on a bed of rice which was, I dont know, undercooked? It just wasnt the same quality I remember from previous visits. I also ordered green beans which resembled canned, not fresh. I had never had them before so was just assuming they were fresh. My guy has ordered them and likes them, and said no, yours are like they always are. So cool, "I" just dont care for the green beans. I also ordered a black bean side which was delicious. The mushrooms were also very tasty BF ordered ribs (loved) mac and cheese side (loved) and the green beans which he liked. He also got the red beans wich also have cut up hot dogs in it. Eww lol. Reminds me too much of beenie weenies but hey, to each his own, I dont like, you might, I dont know Service was spot on no complaints there. We had a couple beers which were refilled quickly. Sat in the bar area next to the aquarium because we love to watch the fish. Aquarium is clean and well kept I might add. Who wants to see a yucky aquarium as you dine right? So even though my dijon chicken wasnt quite what Im used to we are still fans. Maybe thats a sign to try something new on the menu. Peace! read more

Busiest restaurant I've ever seen on Thursday night even. The wait was worth it. Good food at reasonable prices. Party of 12 received great service. Key West chicken and shrimp is really good. So much food a take out box was needed. Drinks looked great. Penne pasta on childs menu was not good. dry sauce and tough. Chicken strips were good. Rolls are very good. Full menu with lots of choices. It is very loud agreeing with other reviews on that. read more

This is one of my favorite places to dine with the family. Cheddar's has a comfortable atmosphere, great wait staff, and high quality food for the prices. For these reasons however, wait times to get seated can be long at certain hours of the day. If you plan ahead though and avoid the rush hours, you will have a great experience and leave happy. One of my favorite dishes is the Chicken Pot Pie. It is light, delicious, and made with fresh ingredients. The catfish is also a favorite for everyone in the family. read more

A restaurant where I can get reasonably healthy meals with VEGETABLES and my husband can stuff his face with meat and potatoes type fare. Had a Monte Cristo with fries. Possibly the worst fries I have ever been served. Waitress didn't even comment that neither my wife or I had eaten more than just a taste of the terrible fries. Just snagged the plates off the table and came back with our bill. The floors were so slick we could hardly walk without holding on to booths, walls or whatever we could reach. Restroom was even worse. Used to like this place but this last trip sure changed our opinion of it. read more

The food was nothing incredibly remarkable that I would drive across town for, but if I'm out east, it's a great option for something not avail out west and keeps the whole family happy with the variety of options. The Cheddar's off of 13th street in Wichita is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The place was not busy and we were seated at a table with trash all over the floor. The table and the menus were soaking wet. And we waited there for 20 min until the waitress came to ask us what we wanted to drink. One person at our table ordered macaroni and cheese with her meal and the waitress commented that it was garbage and only suggested to give it to children. Super offensive that she suggested us paying to feed our kids 'garbage' at a restaurant. The food came out and the macaroni and cheese was so terrible that it was passed around our table because no one believed that it could really be that bad. There was a steak that was supposed to be medium rare and it came out super red and with blood dripping from it so it was taken back to cook longer and it came out the exact same way. I went to change my baby's diaper and couldn't walk across the floor of the bathroom to get to a changing table because it was so slippery. So we had to eat dinner surrounded by trash and smelling shit. There was trash leading in and out of the kitchen that made me wonder what the kitchen looked like that our food was being made in. When we finally got our checks the waitress was no where to be seen to pay and we were all standing up looking for her. It took her so long to get back to the table with our cards that we ended up waiting for her at the door. She was not tipped super well because the place was trashed and service was terrible and she stood outside the front door smoking and staring at us getting in the car. Our friends drove two hours to eat dinner with us and it was by far one of the worst experiences we've ever had. Your east Wichita Cheddar's is in serious need of new management. The food is generally pretty good but at this point I would probably never go back. read more

I've had a few different items on the menu, all have been above average. The wait staff were willing to change-up an item, no problem. The chicken tenders, the Salmon, the Alfredo, the Philly, the Burger(s).. Very good quality. The salad was good, try the honey croissants. Drink prices are very good. A full dinner with drinks for two was about $30. Normally, I would have expected closer to $50. I will return often.. read more

This is my go to place for great food, atmosphere, and very reasonably priced entrees. My most recent visit, I had the country fried steak and a friend had the same version only with chicken. I would suggest the chicken, as the country fried steak was a bit chewy and bland for my taste. I had plate envy after my friend allowed me to try her chicken, which was seasoned and tender! Never have I tried to have a birthday celebration in a restaurant and have them seats our party apart. We even called and asked if they could accommodate us and was reassured they could. Once we arrived we were told we would have to squeeze 13 people in two booths. When we complained, we were told that we could have that or nothing. Then, once my brother talked to the store manager the other manager lied and said if we wanted to wait they could have done it. The waitress had an attitude, they tried rushing us. WOW..is all I can say. First time at Cheddar's...food was typical bar/pub/eat more than you need-kind of place. HUGE portions. Not much to complain about but not much to go on and on about. Clearly a fan favorite for the after church crowd. The 6 person booth, while comfy, is really hard to get out of!! Cheddar's finds new and creative ways of botching my to go order. Shame on me for continuing to try. It's almost as if they're doing it on purpose, even though I know they're not. Tonight, my to-go order under my name, was given to someone else. It was a call ahead order, so obviously I wasn't planning on sitting there and waiting for my order to be prepared. Initially I was told that I hadn't called and spoken to anyone there, I showed my phone to them and then they remembered as I was describing what I ordered that I did indeed call and speak with them. After realizing they're mistake, they asked me to re order and wait for food that I had called in 40 minutes prior and they would have it out as fast as possible. Save yourself the hassle and pass on Cheddar's to go. The dine in experience is wonderful and their food is great. Cheddar's has an awesome selection of classic American foods! My parents and I shared a great stack of onion rings, which were perfectly breaded and full of yum! I had the loaded potato skins, which were also good. The waitress we had was very nice and always there to see if we needed anything. The fish tank is also a nice attraction! read more

I hadn't been here in months, so I was really looking forward to having dinner here last night with a friend. We got right in and were seated quickly. I was disappointed that baked spasagna is no longer on the menu - that was my reason for wanting to go here. So I ordered the cornmeal white fish. Based on the menu description, I expected it to be like typical fish n chips. It seemed undercooked, so I requested another plate. But the next one was just like the first one - the fish was not flaky, but kind of mushy. I don't know what type of fish it was so maybe that's how it was supposed to be, and so I didn't send it back again. After cutting into it the breading wasn't completely cooked. All breading, steak was less than 1/8 in thick and tuff. Mashed potatoes were soupy and green beans were mushy. Left most on plate. Waitress asked if something wrong then looked at plate and apologized for meal. She was a very friendly. Floors were wet and very slippery. Food and trash on floors and bathroom was same. This place has the absolute best croissants. They are magnificent in texture. The flakiness of the breading and the smooth luxurious butter made me drool. I would highly recommend ordering their croissants. I could have ate 25 of them. The breading fell apart in my vicious chompers and I could have dreamt about that exact moment for the rest of my life. This restaurant also has nice scenery and I love the spinning leaves in the middle of the restaurant. Very disappointed with food. The Monte Christo sandwich is NOT a sandwich. It is a small amount of meat and cheese wrapped in a dough that rises, and is then deep fried. Chicken pot pie looked great, but there were so many onions in it that it tasted like onion pot pie. The onion overwhelmed every other ingredient. No chicken or vegetable taste came through. Did takeout. Quality of food was good. Value was also fair to good. Service was poor. Stood waiting at packed bar (where they manage call in orders) to get waiter attention. 5 wait people stood around engrossed in each other while only 1 person was aggressively working. I waited 5 mins for busy guy to get to me. They have no take out parking and no condiments etc at the bar. One guy had to go back to kitchen to get mustard and he was gone another 5-10 mins.
