I ordered a salad to go. It took over 40 minutes to prepare. It did not look like they were busy considering I was the only person parked in the to go spots, it was 4:15pm, and their parking lot was practically empty. Then when I got my order there was less than 1 oz of chicken on it, the croissant was hard, the lettuce did not look fresh, and there was no silverware in the bag. A friend recommended this place, we had never been. We went on Saturday night around 8 Oct.1. The wait was only about 10 min. However, once seated we had to stop a waitress after 10 min to ask for drinks. She said she'd go find "our" waitress. 10 more min. Went by so I finally asked for a manger and let it him know it had been 20 min and we hadn't gotten drinks. He said he'd take care of it immediately. The same waitress who said she'd find ours came back and said she was sorry she didn't know anyone was seated in her section. Umm we literally just asked her for drinks. Anyway, after that we got everything quickly. All the food was really good. I got the pot pie, I think it was canned chicken in it, but I'm weird about chicken so no big deal. Everything else was great. Came time to pay, and found out the manager took care of the entire bill. Totally did not expect that and nor did we expect or ask anything to be taken off. That was great of him and shows the restaurant wants to take care of patrons. We will be back and would've been back again even had he not taken care of the bill as the food was delicious. Cheddar's knows how to do things right. The food is very reasonably priced, with most plates ringing in under $8-9. The appetizers are delicious, especially the tower of hand-breaded onion rings with ranch (they're REALLY good). The entrees always have very large portions, especially for the money. It is obvious they take time to develop good attentive servers as well, I've have only had poor service once out of the 10+ times I've been. Unfortunately they were out of the entree that I ordered last night... but the manager came out, apologized, and offered to cook something else right away for me. The entree came out just 3 minutes later (I assume it was pulled off someone else's order that hadn't been waiting as long)! Very good customer service and handling of sticky situations. Great chain restaurant. I'd always thought of them as a burger place but everything we had was very good. Onion rings as appetizer is a winner. It's a large portion of lighted battered rings. Having found ourselves in Wichita over the weekend, my family I decided to stop into Cheddar's for dinner last night after passing a series of chain restaurants. I'm not sure if Cheddar's is a chain, but it wasn't something that we could get back in California and the menu was varied enough to meet all of the dietary needs of the group. The food was pretty good, huge portions, and remarkably cheap (especially when compared to California standards). The service was friendly and prompt, especially considering it was almost 9pm on a Sunday night. Overall a good experience, although nothing remarkable. read more

As a family we decided to try this restaurant. Mom gave us a gift card for 6 different places and we decided upon this place. At first impressions I thought very fancy with the seating and mood lighting. Then our waiter Nicholas D took our drink orders and was very quick with the drinks. We then ordered and the food which was there within 15 minutes. The food was just as good as our waiters service. I didn't even have to ask for a refill it was like magic poof another was in front of me. I would recommend this place to everyone. Prices are very affordable. Possibly the worst restaurant I've eaten at in the last 5 years. Ceaser salad - limp lettuce drenched in dressing with a couple of croutons Club sandwich - Asked for honey mustard to replace mayo... Did not get it. Sandwich was dry. Limp piece of iceberg lettuce was gross. Tiny, too. Fish tacos - VERY strange taste. My wife ate one and I took a bite of the other. Not sure what deal was but was afraid fish spoiled so we did not continue to eat. Prices were low. Only saving grace. I know that this kind of restaurant works in Wichita, but there are so many better places out there, that I would highly recommend that you go somewhere else. The low-price for casual concept idea is a good one, but pay an extra buck or two to get something better. You won't regret it. read more

Stopped in here for a late lunch on a Saturday. I am going to preface by stating that it was graduation for the local university. We were seated on arrival and our drink orders were taken right way. It then took 25 minutes to receive them. We had ordered appetizers and our meal. Appetizers arrived before the drinks. I ordered the salmon over a bed of rice. The fish was not cooked evenly and the rice was tough. I can't imagine that they aren't equipped to handle a full restaurant. I expected better and not certain we will return. read more

The bar had menus laying around all over and dirty dishes still on the bar-top. I found a clean..ish side of the bar and took a sit. There were two people behind the bar that completely ignored me (one male, one female). After about 10 minutes of waiting on someone to greet me, I left. The portions are great for the price (my spasagna lasted for two meals), but the dishes were average: the spasagna needed more marinara sauce and the BBQ sauce on the ribs was a little sweet. I did, however, liked their Texas cheese fries. The staff were friendly enough and it seemed like they have good business; both times I left around 7pm and there were people waiting for tables. I was very pleased with the Key West Chicken and Shrimp. It had a sweet and savory flavor with pineapple, rice and I think Teriyaki sauce. The red beans and loaded baked potato were delicious. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak. Not too much breading and good amount of meat. My 3-year-old son refused to eat his Mac and Cheese, because he thought it had chicken in it. It had some texture too it because it was baked and had formed some crust, if you will. I tried it and thought it was great. My 5-year-old daughter thought the chicken tenders and fries were very yummy and requested that we come back again. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy, yet we didn't have a long wait (probably about 15 minutes). The price was reasonable and the service was good. They sat at a table that had not been wiped down and the hostess took a half-eaten plate of nachos off the table as they seated us. We asked for the table to be wiped down by the server but it never was. The menu item my mother ordered was not explained clearly on the menu but could not find the server later to exchange for something else so she didn't eat her entree. My steak was cooked to perfection! I ordered medium rare and for the first time, I didn't have it sent back. The shrimp and sides were just as delicious. The croissants were warm, flaky and buttery. Got a Yelp account just to review this place. I've never been disappointed with Cheddar's. If I have one complaint it's that the steak is always slightly undercooked. So if I order medium it's medium-rare, if I order medium-rare it's rare. Not a big deal for me, I like it bloody anyway. Service is always great even though every time I go the place is packed. If you are looking for a place to bring the kids there isn't much to entertain them so bring an iPad. The best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life is the Monte Cristo from Cheddar's. read more

Usually, I review strictly Jimmy John's franchises, but this Cheddar's experience left me with no choice but to share it you- the Yelp-loving people. In the past, I have found Cheddar's to be a rather average dining experience, with the exception of one thing: Their heavenly honey-butter croissants. These soft and flaky treats are always the highlight of any day I have the pleasure to enjoy them. But then, there was Friday, May 26th. After a long day at the Kansas State Track Meet, my team loaded up the bus and hit the road for a late dinner. Sure, it took awhile to seat us all, and we had to wait a bit even before then, but that was excusable, as serving twenty plus people can be a challenge. But you know what shouldn't be a challenge? Not burning a croissant. I don't exactly have the credentials that most food critics do, but even I could tell that the croissants were left in the oven about 10 minutes too long. Adding to the unfortunate circumstance was the fact that I had attempted to hype up the honey butter croissants to my friends who were first timers at the establishment. I was really hoping to be able to say "Told you they were that good" once the croissants were brought out, but instead, I was just as disappointed as everyone else. Now, this isn't to say that Cheddar's is a terrible place and no one should go there, after all, the rest of the meal was superb, from my teammate's chicken tenders to may rather lame sounding, although still delicious salmon salad. Unfortunately, the croissant fiasco took this place down a solid two stars, and also prompted me to cut my burnt dough into the shape of an L. Because, you know, Cheddar's took an L with those croissants that night. (For those of you over forty, taking a L is basically when you fail at something or get roasted pretty badly. And let me tell you, those croissants were indeed roasted pretty badly.) Other than what may have been one of the most disappointing food experiences of my life, (which I suppose tells you how relatively privileged my life has been) Cheddar's made for an okay night at an okay restaurant, earning them a meager three stars. read more

I got a little bit of a headache from the noise, the tenders were kind of too salty in my appetizer.. And I thought that it took a long time for us to get our main course of food.. Food was average for the price, no better than Cracker Barrel's or other restaurants in the area. Atmosphere was not great for a family gathering like we had, very noisy! My real problem was the next day when I discovered my ticket was charged to my card twice. Matt the manager was very unconcerned, insisted it was only once the other was taken off and blamed my bank. Never had that before with my bank so I called my bank and it was Cheddars system. The only thing "Matt" offered was it would be off my account in a few days. My suggestion if you go here is pay cash or watch your statement closely! There was no apology even when I said I wouldn't be back he was unconcerned! Basically everything on that menu is amazing. I absolutely love every single thing about it! Now I noticed there's a few complaints but, come on! Let's just be happy folks and how can you not be happy that the price is a huge bang for your buck. Yeah, the "chicken may be slightly raw" or they forgot your silverware. This was the most disappointing experience we've had at a Cheddar's. We have been living out of state for several years and nowhere near a Cheddar's. Since moving back to this area, we've been excited to return for the delicious food. The atmosphere was charming as always and our server was on point. The food however, was lacking severely. We ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and the sauce was so sweet it ruined the flavor of the shrimp. We just ate the shrimp without the sauce but some type of sauce would've been nice. That could just be a preference issue but the other issues were significant and avoidable. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo and enjoys this dish when it's prepared correctly. If you like Monte Cristos, you know that a crucial part of the dish is the raspberry sauce to dip the sandwich in. When the server brought our food, he apologized that they had run out of the raspberry sauce! Not having the sauce totally changes and diminishes the flavor. Had my husband known there was no sauce, he wouldn't have ordered it. Our waiter asked if he wanted to order something else but it was late, we were hungry, and really didn't have the extra time to wait. It came with fries that were chewy and lukewarm like they had been reheated. Bleh. I ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp with southern green beans and sweet baby carrots as sides. Flavor wise, this was actually good. But, if there's one thing that will kill a dish for me it's not having it served hot. I like to eat my food hot! Everything except the green beans was lukewarm. Yuck! Again, due to time and hunger, it wasn't worth even complaining. We did eat our food but the experience wasn't pleasant. Like I said before, this experience was disappointing. We will really have to consider whether we will be coming back to Cheddar's anytime soon, if at all. With so many good restaurant options in the area, this one might just go by the wayside for us. read more

What a way to celebrate mothers day. I am sad to report that this was the worst service ever. It started out that we had a family of 16 and they served the honey croissants to my grandchildren and the little saucers they gave them were used. When I say used I mean, they came out of the bus boys bucket... they had cheese and other gooey stuff on the dishes. I was needless to say extremely upset. I asked for the waiter and his manager. He never came out with her, but the manager came out and while pursuing her lips and speaking very condescending to me, I expressed that I did not appreciate her speaking to me this way, I continued to Express my unhappiness. I asked her for her name and she told me her name was eden, she then asked me if I would like for her to spell it for me. Wow!!! Then I asked to speak to her boss, I met a nice man named Matt, he was her boss and he stated that he would handle he accordingly. "?". She came out and publicly acted a complete @@@ I requested she come out and publicly apologize and sweet Matt stated no, he couldn't ask her to do that. My family and I decided to cancel our order and we went else where. eden should be fired. I hope they never allow her to speak to a client that way again. HOW HORRIBLE!!! I love cheddars quite a bit these days. When you walk in the restaurant it has a very nice atmosphere throughout, and is well laid out. It has the look and feeling of a very nice restaurant. All of the food that me or any of my family has tried from here is always delicious, and looks great too, and the best part is how affordable it is! I can't think of any other restaurant in Wichita that has food that's so high quality yet such a reasonable price, and that's exactly why I keep bringing my family back.
