The entrance is strange. There is a small door, and a small table immediately in front of it. If someone is trying to leave as someone is coming in, it complicates the entry, as was the case for us. Service was great! Food is a little on the expensive side but it wears delicious!! The gnocchi was fluffy and tender sooo good! Wish I had another night in town to eat more!! The steak stroganoff was ok. Pasta was a little more al dente than I like the the beef was tender, the sauce was tasty and I ate it all. Got a side of truffle fries that was shoestring and delicious!! Great side. Our server had a few recommendations and I wish I had more time to try them all!! Great food, fantastic service in a lovely outdoor space. A group of 4 who waited too long to eat so everything looked good. Our server did a great job to help guide our decisions. We ordered spinach artichoke dip for the table and were pleased when it arrived with house made chips and bread, it was a great start. The grownups ordered margaritas and they ask your preferred tequila and had lovely options to choose from. The chicken Marsala was outstanding and more than enough for one person, the Swiss mushroom burger was great ( well done was a little too crispy, keep that in mind if that is your go to) the house cheeseburger was delicious (medium is definitely the move) we had truffle fries and they were so delicious you want to stuff them in your pockets. I say this as I normally think three truffle takes over but this chef knows how to manage it and they are worth ordering even if they don't come with your meal! We sat outside and the shaded patio was perfect for the summer, a band was setting up as we were leaving and would have been worth the stay had we not had a long day at the pool! What a fantastic find while traveling through Kansas! My group of four selected this place for dinner and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was great, service was awesome! Took a few minutes to decide on the appetizers. We chose the Deviled Eggs & the Ploughman's Plate. Only to find out they couldn't fulfill the Ploughman's Plate . That's when one of the group selected the Bone Marrow. That was a first for me to try out but really it was quite tasty. Everyone had a different taste in mind for dinner, Meat Loaf, Steak, Salmon and my choice of Lobster Spaghetti. Everyone was totally satisfied with their selection! As usual, the lovely and warm atmosphere of first mile was welcoming and cozy. We initially went to homegrown but didn't want to wait 45-60 minutes. First mile is a favorite and we had no wait there. I ordered my usual salmon salad but this time tried the burrata appetizer. It was delightful, fresh, and honestly a wonderful treat I could've had as a meal with a bowl of soup. Our server was very sweet and accommodating. We always have a nice time here. I'm grateful for the quick entry because we were not going to wait more than ten minutes with our busy schedules. A pig with makeup. The restaurant is beautiful and the appearance of the food is as well. But my mother in law even seasons the food better. The eggs were bland. The pancakes were way too sweet. The breakfast potatoes were elite and the bacon was good. The chocolate milk was made with milk and a drop of hersheys syrup. Food took 30 mins to come out and the water might've come out of the toilet. If you're looking for a very average meal this is the place for you! read more

I had the pancake, and I have never ever had a pancake like that. It comes in a cast-iron skillet and the syrup is on the bottom. That was the best I've tasted. I had an egg and bacon and those too were suburb. I am so happy homegrown was full lol. The food was amazing, everyone was happy with their order. We tried this place from the reviews we saw on Yelp and got our attention with the Lobster Spaghetti and Bone Marrow appetizer since we are from out of town. The place is located in a outdoor mall, the ambiance is nice and the staff were really friendly. We ordered 2 Lobster Spaghetti, Bone Marrow and the Steak Frites. Got to the hotel and we didn't experience the standard other customers had with their food. The Lobster Spaghetti has good portion of the Lobster; however, the taste is not all that flavorful. It was dry and bland. The Steak Frites on the other hand was a little bit if a step up from the Lobster Spaghetti. The Steak was definitely seasoned and cooked through well and the fries were good. The salad on the other hand, got some wilted greens, so with our overall experience, we didn't bother to touch it anymore. In addition, the bone marrow was a big letdown. For the price they charge and the amount of bone marrow we got (total amount is the size of a dime), was very disappointing. We basically paid for bones. We have seen better proportions than that. I really don't like leaving comments like this but for the amount of money we spent for our Christmas Eve dinner, this didn't cut it. read more

I recently visited during one of their rotating "takeover" events by Egg Shop and was impressed with the creative menu. We started off with some tasty but strong cocktails before moving on to the food. Since Egg Shop was temporarily running the kitchen, some of the dishes we tried are no longer available, but they highlighted the talent behind First Mile's ever-changing menus. The First Mile pancakes were fluffy and delicious, served with a side of candied bacon that added sweetness and crunch. The star of the brunch was the lobster roll Benedict - perfect poached eggs and creamy hollandaise atop a toasted brioche bun stuffed with chunks of perfectly seasoned lobster. It came with a fresh side salad for balance. All the flavors in the Benedict worked so well together to create an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions about the specialty menu. The interior has an urban-chic vibe with wood accents and cool lighting fixtures, making it a hip spot for a weekend date or get-together with friends. The vibes here are fantastic. I love the set up, the space, and the environment here. The staff are very engaged, especially if you sit at the bar, and it makes the experience enjoyable. I was only here for an hour, but wish we could have stayed longer. The Mint Julep was solid, but I heard the H.Y.F.R cocktail is amazing! Not for me, but my tequila loving friends really loves it and come back every time for it. Not the biggest fan of the Crispy Rice, but I heard the Brisket Croquetas and pork belly pilbil are amazing! We were in Wichita on a week day, so we decided to stop in and check this place out for the first time. I've seen reviews of their breakfast/brunch, and it looked amazing. Unfortunately, thats a weekend thing. However, There are eggs/sausage/bacon/potatos on the Sides for lunch menu, so I went that route. Breakfast potatoes were a little salty, but hard to stop eating. Rest was par for the course. Eggs cooked over medium perfectly. My wife is Celiac, and the menu left few choices, at least for lunch. The server said they had Gluten Free bread for sandwiches, probably should be mentioned on the menu. She went with the Grilled Salmon salad in the end, and raved about it. She's ready to return just for this. Hopefully our next trip will be for dinner service! More to come I'm sure. read more

I'm not sure why this place isn't more highly and widely recommended. Went in on a Monday night and it was fairly quiet. It looks like a place that on a Friday or Saturday night would be jumpin. Really simple decor and clean looking. I liked the vibe. The service was exceptional. Out waitress was attentive and very friendly. She was delightful. I'm a sucker for anything wood fired so I got a woodfired old fashioned. It was made with makers mark which isn't my favorite but this drink was unique enough that it didn't bother me. It was a hair on the sweet side but still very good and I'd order again. I ordered the meatloaf and hot damn it was so freakin good. I'm not a big meatloaf fan but, am I glad I ordered it.
