Cheddar's is a solid spot to go to if you're looking for a decent restaurant with large portion sizes. They pretty much serve Southern Comfort Food and they do it well. I got the Cornmeal Fried Fish with Fries and Cheesy Broccoli Casserole to go. I'm happy to say that even their take out has a good portion size. The fried fish comes with 5 large pieces of nicely battered fish that is golden brown and crispy on the exterior. The crunchy crust is just right in that it provides great texture but is not so heavily battered that you have more crust than fish. They have a good ratio of crust to fish. The fish itself is nice and moist and is complemented by the tarter sauce that they give you. They give you a nice portion of fries and a good hearty scoop of Cheesy Broccoli Casserole. The casserole has a nice breadcrumb crust while the inside stays soft and cheesy, just the way you like it. Finally, I'm glad even with the take out order, they give you a free side of their delicious honey butter croissants! Delicious! I'm going to change my review from 2 to 3 stars. The food is decent here and the portions are good but some things make you want to slap someone! My wife ordered a top sirloin and asked for horseradish like she's done for the last 20 years of our marriage! She almost wanted to change her order when 5he waitress told her they didn't have horseradish. With such a varied menu you would think they would offer it if a customer asked. Then there their "loaded baked potato" (finger quotes). You order it and the waitress asks if you want bacon for 1.00 extra. What? I just ordered a loaded baked potato! I feel indifferent about my experience tonight. I was clearly ignored by the bartenders when I tried to place my take out order. Then I tried to voice my concern with the hostess and her carefree attitude about the situation clearly let me know she didn't give a damn. Stopped in at the Cheddars on Park Street in St. Pete at 4 pm for a late lunch. The place was empty with the exception of two or three tables of diners. The hostess told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait. I looked at her in shock. Why do we have to wait if the place is empty? She said they were in the middle of shift change and we would have to wait. I told her that no, we're not waiting and we left. Went down the street to Chili's and had a great meal. This is either a problem with management or staffing. I know of no other restaurants that make you wait because of shift changes. They usually have overlap between shifts so that guests are not inconvenienced. Needless to say, not going back to Cheddars. There are too many other choices where I don't have to be inconvenienced by mismanagement. read more

I'm here for a late lunch today and I find this quite a Hard Review to write. Upon entrance I was greeted immediately by a very friendly Hostess that seated me in the bar area. Initially this wouldn't bring any things to my attention but after I was seated a couple was seated and they said they were sitting them there for a nice romantic Time by themselves in the bar section. This kind of leads me to believe,the bar area is for cast offs. They don't know me well enough to know that I prefer to eat at the bar or in the bar but they made that assumption without knowing anything about me which I think is wrong. My waiter was very attentive and also I had a Yelp Medallion on my purse so he knew that I was participating in Yelp. Food came out almost too fast, it was less than 5 minutes to get a steak and cheese Philly with french fries. Well okay let's start at the top the bun was fried like it said and had a nice crust on it, but it was small, not like a hoagie. The meat was minimal & not tough, but way under seasoned and did not have the onions and green peppers that were promised. The mushrooms, yes there were a few of them that were obvious. On the sandwich, I found green peppers after digging through the other half, I found 3 small diced pieces. The cheese wasn't all the way melted, but was entiful. For any of you that know me I love Philly cheesesteaks and I'm looking for a new Philly spot, as my fave closed. I didn't taste onions, I didn't see the onions and this obviously is not my new Philly cheese steak place. I also prefer for all of my cheese be melted into sandwich and not stuck to the side of the bun in a slab .. gross. The french fries were really quite good and cooked perfectly. No complaints with french fries whatsoever. My other question was there in a beautiful, large bar area, yet they have no happy or specials on cocktails. Here is this beautiful, big bar, being used for single & a few couples. I discussed this with my waiter, and he said that they were just waiting to see what happened you know once they got moved into the neighborhood and they would go from there. I understand that, but on the menu there were no prices for any of the drinks. I got a $10 Margarita that was supposedly some kind of special drink and didn't even taste the alcohol or feel it. Whether that was me or the restaurant I can't say for sure. There was way too much ice & the Margarita was good, but had too much salt. My rim had no salt, as I had ordered it, this was from the actual coctail. The interior is very outstanding and inviting. My service was great. The assistant manager came and saw me because I was new and I was taking pictures. It sure didn't do any good getting a lousy drink & sandwich & not even an apology. I don't know I think the food is, fairly good. The sandwich I got was lacking in what it said it was supposed to have and it was also lacking in the basics of salt and pepper. The bun was toasted and the cheese was somewhat melted but, no it was not a great Philly cheesesteak. To me it appears they are going for family &/or senior business. I was so excited to see that Cheddar's was coming to Carrollwoood. Brian use to work there when we first moved to Florida and I fell in love with so many items on their menu. The chicken torilla soup is the best I have had, honestly. And when they say everything is homemade, they do mean it. I will say this one is very much different than the Largo location, more modern and trendy. And since this is a Scratch Kitchen vs the Casual Cafe that Largo is, I noticed a few items missing from the menu. Luckily, my soup is still on it! We've eaten at many of the Ceddar's around the country. So when we saw this location on the way to the Tampa Airport when had to stop for lunch on our way home .It was Valentine's Day so we expected a long wait and we were delighted that it was only 25 mins. The meals we had were delicious. I had the Fried Shrimp, fries and slaw. There were 12 shrimp, lightly breaded, tender and delicious. My wife got the Chicken Pot Pie. It was served piping hot and was delicious. Our daughter ordered the Fried Chicken and Shrimp with a side of Red Beans and Rice and a salad. The food was all served hot, fresh and delicious. The hubs and I came here for lunch today for my first time checking them out. It was around 12pm on a Saturday we were seated immediately. The staff and our waitress Julie were great! They were very polite and attentive. Julie made great suggestions until she suggested some sort of chocolatey goodness for dessert after I was stuffed. Just kidding. We got the queso dip to start. I had strawberry lemonade the hubs raspberry tea both were great. The we both got the fried chicken and gravy with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The food was so good! The chicken tasted very fresh. However, I don't eat ham & they said they couldn't make it without it, so that tells me it's already pre-made. Not scratch kitchen fresh like they claim. I ended up picking the ham out. But the best things were their sides; the broccoli cheddar casserole especially. We also ordered an appetizer of onion rings & that was probably the best thing. Cheddar's- ah what more can I say. It's good wholesome food at a decent price and it is made from scratch - hopefully no scratching involved by the chef ( it is a clean restaurant). I would heartily recommend any of their shrimp dishes or my favorite, the buffalo chicken wrap. The sauce on the wrap is done perfectly, not too vinegary but just enough nip. One of the best things about Cheddars is that it is both quality and quantity. There is just about something for everyone on the menu and it is all quality made. read more

Mediocre food. Blackened Redfish came on a cold roll with little seasoning. Fries on the plate were cold and almost non existent with a bunch of broken ends. My second visit at this location. Our host was new and a little nervous but he did a good job. I had the grilled white fish-wanted it blackened but nonetheless was ok. Always on point are the cheese bites. A little too much eggs in the house salad but again ok. I liked the coleslaw and I can be a snob when it comes to coleslaw. All in all a good dining experience. Love the butter rolls with the honey butter. Not a fan of the rice.. chunks of onion diminished the side. House made ranch dressing was missing something. I would go back, just not anytime soon. They do not have their To Go system working well. Hubby called in the order at 5:59, paid and tipped. I arrived to pick it up at 6: 19. Sign at end of parking place said, "Call this number to let us know you're here." I did. At 6:32, I went in. No one was at the Take Out desk. After waiting several minutes, a man came out and asked me my parking space number. I gave him my name, but he was aggravated that I didn't recall my number. I said I called from my car from that spot when I arrived like the sign instructed. No one asked my parking spot number. Finally got my food at 6:39. No apology. Luke warm. This is a new restaurant and they are running it tightly! Went here after they were open for a day and I was impressed. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the food selections and that is a good thing. The lighting is bright and the space between each table was sufficient. However my food order was not exactly what I ordered. I asked for the shrimp platter and although the shrimp were food the baked potato was not. I asked for no sour cream and it can with it. When I asked for my server it took her forever to come out. She didn't do another asked what I needed. He took the potato back to being me another one. Well that was fine except that potato took longer and I had eaten the rest of my meal. We also ordered the sweet croissants and they were less than sweet. I would like to think that this is because this is a new location and they are not aware of what they should be doing so I will give them another try. We went there on June 19 they were a little busy but the service was great. My wife had a full rack of ribs and she said the ribs were the best she ever had, they were a little crunchy on the top, which she loved and the flavor was great. I had the 16 oz T-bone steak and it too was cooked to perfection. I usually order "Pittsburgh" cooked but they do not have an open flame but, none the less, the steak was perfect, and the flavor was as good as "Pittsburgh" style cooked. My steak was a bit over cooked but everything else was delicious! No wait and fast service during dinner on a Tuesday. I would rate it above Applebees and TGI Friday's. The food didn't taste like it was microwaved. I liked the selection on the menu. It varied but wasn't overwhelming. Drinks were ok. Cheddar's is a chain I was excited to try that opened here in Tampa. It's known to have everything made in house, down to their sauces. Unfortunately my favorite thing from this place isn't their food but their drinks. I tried their "lite" meal with chicken, shrimp and salad. Totally forgot the name. With a side of their croissant. Their croissant was delicious! But sadly the chicken wasn't completely cooked through and the salad was immensely soggy with the dressing. If I go back, I'll try something different but it's not at the top of my must try restaurants. read more

I was disappointed when I ate at Cheddars about a month back, I had been to the Brandon location and enjoyed it very much the food was yummy and the service was great. When I suggested we eat at the Dale Mabry location to my parents I figured it would be the same. When we arrived the place wasn't that full which was alright by us, there was plenty of parking and got seated right away but when we sat down our waiter stood tables always from us which I understand social distancing but it got a little out of hand not only did he have to make us repeat our orders multiple times because he couldn't hear through the mask which was ok until it got irritating and him putting two tables between us he even served our drinks and food the same way Even spilling our drinks on the table and almost us because we had to reach over two tables to get them. He wasn't very attentive at all either and acted I guess nervous to be around us which I get it's a pandemic but there was a waitress Who helped people nearby that seemed to not have this issue which I guess we should have asked for, the service was just awful had to ask for refills and croissants which the place in Brandon just brought them to our table and what country soul food place doesn't carry pepper sauce? When I asked the guy he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. The food experience didn't help the situation either, I got the chicken fried steak and the breading was greasy and didn't stick to the steak, just broke off, the green beans were just blah that's why asked for the pepper sauce, I was just very displeased. I am not the client that will fuss, I am the client that will review and not patronize again. I was sat promptly in the bar, however it was at a booth that was dirty. The hostess (Octavia?) could visibly see it was dirty and proceeded to cover crumbs and watermarks with the large menu. It happens, I thought.....the waiter, Eric, greeted me and asked for my beverage order and promptly brought it to me. He asked if I needed more time and I said yes. About 2 minutes later I placed my menu on the edge of the table and after almost 6 more minutes he finally came back (he was clearing plates and dropping off checks to 2 other tables). I ordered a small loaded fries, Monte Christo and broccoli cheddar casserole. The fries were hot and delicious but you can't hardly go wrong with bacon and cheese! The sandwich was darker than it should have been and you could literally squeeze the grease out. The powdered sugar and raspberry marmalade were omitted by the kitchen. It also had a baked potato on the plate. The expeditor had no issue getting me the casserole when I told him the side was wrong. When he brought it out I asked about the marmalade and he realized it was missing too. The broccoli casserole was hot, however the cracker roping that is usually toasted was just thrown on and it was basically stale ground crackers. I did not feel it worthy to even take home. This is probably the one of the horrible experiences I ever had, I went with my family for my birthday to eat in my favorite restaurant, and what a nightmare. They were extremely busy , so we have to wait for about 30 minutes, then it took like 45 minutes to get the food to the table, the waitress bring us the drink and then disappear, my family ate , with no drinks,the waitress brought us the food and disappeared again, my food was missing I never got it. Tried this restaurant for the 1st time on Sunday around 6:00pm. We were seated right away in a spacious & comfortable booth. Restaurant was clean & nicely decorated (brick & stone walls with contemporary drum lighting). We ordered Wisconsin Cheese Bites for appetizer. I'm a vegetarian so I kinda made up my own "entree": penne pasta noodles with Cajun Alfredo sauce with broccoli casserole. My husband got the fried shrimp with side of fries & mac & cheese. Checked in on my Yelp app after ordering..30 minutes later I stopped the server asking for our food. Noticing the tables seated after us were already eating. I was brought my bowl of soup that was served so sloppy there was crusted soup all around the edges. A few more minutes passed and I stopped a manager and explained my concerns.
