If you know Cheddars, you know they are known for their honey butter Croissants! I went in for a late dinner around 10pm and found out that just for that one day, someone had mis-ordered and they were OUT of croissants. I understand since it was late, but the manager shared that they had been out ALL DAY! They make everything from scratch so if something is ordered wrong, it's hard to recover from it in that day. Well, I was sorely disappointed but moved on when they were willing to comp my dessert instead. Thanks! I know they close at 11pm but I got there at 10 and there was no hostess to greet us at the door. Hrm, bad start but our waiter totally made up for it. Devon did GREAT with our order, getting the food to us quick, and even chatting with us here and there. I appreciated his positive attitude since most waiters don't like late night diners. I ordered one of their specialty salads (chicken, apple with a vinaigrette dressing), and my friends got a chicken wrap. The food was tasty and I would say I like this place better than Chili's because Cheddars' food taste more fresh and southern comfort than it's competitor. Lastly, the dessert which was a delicious warm perfectly gooey cookie with ice cream on top was SO GOOD. Three stars. Here's why. I wasn't greeted by the hostess at the stand. "How many?" "Your name?" Dang, can I get a hello? Wait time was short. Made it to the table, looked at the window and the blinds covering the windows were terribly dirty. Pretty disgusting in my opinion. Food was okay. Ordered double broccoli. DAMN! Go the extra mileage and go to the West Chase. I've been to this place 4 times since it's opened, I've ordered the same thing 4 times and 4 times they got it WRONG! Every time I go, I think, maybe it'll get better!! I'm sorely disappointed every time!!! EVERY time I ask for pickle, EVERY time the waitress writes it down (I make sure) and EVERY time the kitchen messes up my order. They DON'T make it from fresh when I send it back, they pick the pickle out, meaning my food is not only luke-warm, but also, everything tastes of pickle. Not only that, but today's 'attempt' had a sorry excuse for chicken in my wrap (one 1/4 of the wrap was freakin' EMPTY!!!!) and the chicken that was there, was so chargrilled it was BURNT. I ordered the Cesar Salad and it had way too much dressing on it. I also got a Club Sandwich which came with 3 types of meat, cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The Club Sandwich bread was a little stale, and they used cheap meat to make it. The price of the food is really cheap almost like its happy hour all the time. I think this is the reason Cheddars always has a big crowd. You can feed a large family for cheap here. This is the reason I am giving them 3 stars. The drinks are relatively inexpensive, and they are pretty good. They also have honey soaked corn bread, and it is so sweet. If you have a sweet tooth then you will like it. This is my 4th time dining at this location and 2 of 3 previous experiences were unacceptable. However, I chose not to write a review for experiences and instead, give them the benefit of the doubt. So today, some colleagues and I came in on lunch from a training at approximately 11:45 and we had to report back by 1:00. Luckily, our training was in the area (5-7 min away), we had more than enough time to talk, eat and return...or so we thought. We ordered our food at approximately 11:50. I ordered a side salad that came out within 10 min with NO silverware or napkins, and when I asked for those items, I got attitude in return. Our food did not arrive until 12:47, and it was ordered 1hour prior and it as the order for only 1 person in my party! Mind you, we had to be back for training at 1pm. The broccoli rice casserole was not cooked properly; meaning it was as if they poured a cup of Uncle Ben's in a bowl and added cheese and broccoli like I wouldn't notice. Every member in my party had an issue with missing/uncooked food or utensils. Other parties that came after us had gotten their meals, eaten and were leaving while they were trying to get our orders straight! Throughout this dining nightmare, the waitress never came to check on us until she saw us get the manager. She never apologized for the issues we experienced, yet proceeded to give more attitude. The manager was very apologetic and understanding, which we appreciated. Needless to say, we had to scarf down our food in 5 min and ended up being 15min late to our training that was 5min away! This was the worst dining experience that I have ever encountered at ANY Cheddar's restaurant, and I will not be visiting this location ever again! read more

Just went there...the hostess up front is dumb with a terrible attitude. We've been sitting at our table without a waiter for about 20 minutes and people around us were getting served, so I went up to the host stand and asked them if we had a waiter. Her response, "What section are you?" Um, hello idiot, I don't work here. Seriously? What kind of stupid questions is that? Anyways another hostess ended up helping us instead who was much nicer. This location def needs some work. Its not even that busy so you would think the service is good. Thats NOT the case. Incident 1: Despite the restaurant looking half empty, we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. When we asked the hostess about getting seated at some empty booths, she said that was not possible bcuz there wasnt enough servers?!! Incident 2: We asked for a coke. When the server delivered our drinks, it did not taste like a reg coke so we went and informed him that this is NOT a reg coke- it is clearly DIET COKE. Instead of apologizing and figuring out what might have happened, he proceeds to ARGUE with us that this is a reg coke. Seriously?!! Anyways towards the end of our meal, a DIFFERENT server comes to our table to apologize about the coke cuz apparently there was some kind of mixup with the Coke dispenser dispensing Diet coke instead of regular coke. Ughhhhh thats what we told our server but he didnt believe us!! Apparently he has no customer service skills. Check this ish out! OK, so we were trying to find a place to go, that we haven't been to in a while, to kind of switch things up a bit. I've also been dreaming about chicken and waffles for a week, so, I suggested Cheddar's. At the time, I didn't realize that it had been over a year since I'd been to one of these places. My girlfriend, I and both of our son's (both under 10 years old) head for the restaurant. So...here we go. We were surprised that there wasn't some sort of wait. I mean, you could wait 30 minutes just to get into Chuy's, which is just a block away, so that pleased us. So, we get in and we get seated. Reading the menu, I notice that there are NO chicken and waffles on this menu. My girlfriend suggests that it might be an off-menu item that you have to ask for. So, I got with that, to ease my tension. After a bit, our waiter (young, tall brotha) approaches us and does his little greeting/spiel and asks if there any questions he could answer in order to help in our menu decisions. I immediately tell him that he could male me one happy dude if he can confirm that they still serve chicken and waffles. He has this look on his face and, after a few seconds, he exclaims, "Wow, we took that off of the menu two years ago. Where have YOU been." He sees my disturbed look, and I mention that I've had it at another location, within the last year. He then continues, "We're a "corporate location. What we do, the other restaurants are supposed to follow. You may have been to a location that hadn't changed yet, because some of them don't serve the same things we do." All I could do is stare blankly at him. Corporate location, hell! But get this....So, that moment passes and we order our drinks and want more time to look at the menu. The waiter looks over the table and notices that I have a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. He says, "Man, don't even show me them Ray-Bans, I just lost a pair at the "mother-effing" beach..." (you do recall that there are kids at this table, right? OK). So, I'm looking up at him and he jumps from the past, back to the side of our table and I say, "Ohhhh, K." We need a minute. If that isn't bad enough...'cause that was really "effed up," (my own opinion, in case there are those out there who could care less if profanity is used around your kids) the waiter's uniform jacket had the words, "Corporate Trainer," sprawled across it. I don't recall that he ever really apologized. Does he represent the brand? I think you do when you wear the uniform with your company's name on it. That's all I'm saying. In conclusion, the food was pretty good. The drinks left a lot to the imaginaiton. I mean, my girlfriend and i both ordered mixed drinks and they tasted like powdered drink mix; there was no hint of alcohol. Having read the most recent reviews, I was sad to see that the Cheddar's near my house was not doing so well. Every time we had gone in the past, everything seemed perfectly fine to me. So, my husband and I went to this Cheddar's fully intending to have a horrible dining experience. We were craving chicken tenders and those ah-may-zing croissants something FIERCE. We walk in on a Thursday night and they aren't busy at all. No one is at the hostess stand so we have to wait maybe 30 seconds before a pleasant girl comes to us apologizing for making us wait. We're seated immediately at a clean booth (nothing on the table, on the seats, or on the floor) and greeted fairly quickly by our server, Jacob. Throughout dinner, we never felt rushed and our server was very friendly and quickly got us everything we asked for. We ordered the chips and queso, which we received promptly. Someone else, I think a bartender, just happened to be walking by and noticed we didn't have appetizer plates, so she stopped what she was doing and got us some without us even having to ask. I timed my food -- from the time we ordered it, we got our chicken tenders in 14 minutes. That's not bad at all, considering we ordered an appetizer and the croissants. Our food was nice and hot, and I'm not talking "sitting under a heat lamp for half an hour and now it's stale" hot, I mean "Jacob our server was standing right by the fry section to grab our plates as soon as they were done" hot. Cheddar's turned my skeptical trip into what I must say was one of my better dining experiences as of late. I have not eaten a Cheddar's in a while but decided to give it a try today as I was out shopping with my mom and we needed to get something to eat. The server was nice and pleasant although it did take a little while to get drinks. There was a table right next to us that was absolutely not 6 ft away. The part that made my experience the worst was the young lady bussing tables. She did not want to buss the table next to us which was evident as she huffed and puffed by us on her way to the table. She proceeded to slam dishes into her bus tub. She slammed cups so hard into the tub that ice was flying out of the glass. I lost my appetite after I got hit in the back of the head with ice. There was also some that landed on our table. Especially during these times, that is unacceptable . I watched the young lady clean and did not see her wiping down any chairs. She barely wipes down the tables. We informed the manager and she had an "I don't care" attitude. I do not think I will be going back. I did not feel clean after leaving there. read more

Love this place! It's a great place to grab a casual meal. Normal meals can go between $5-$20, so it's not really expensive. I highly recommend trying their buttered croissants! We went in a group and there were three orders with fries on the side. The fries came out cold and stale. Unacceptable for a restaurant. But on the plus side the server was kind and brought us fresh ones that were crispy and excellent. This is our FAVORITE sit down restaurant. It offers good quality food and ambiance for those on a budget. There are many healthy options, which is hard to find sometimes in restaurants. Everything is made from scratch and delicious. My favorite cocktail is the Texas Sweet Tea. It's yummy, refreshing, and fruity without being too sweet. Best of all, it's only $3.79. There are many other cocktails for under $5. The cornmeal catfish is to die for... perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's my absolute favorite. I also like the grilled catfish and the chicken tenders, which are so juicy and seasoned perfectly. The fresh side salad is a pretty large and comes with a homemade croissant slathered in sweet butter. You know... to make up for ordering a salad. My husband likes the steak and ribs and orders it with double fries. He loves the fries here. The food can sometimes be too salty, and the salad can be a little heavy on the dressing. The decor is kind of like TGI Friday's with the wood panel walls but without all the garage sale items nailed up. There are some interesting rotating fans that give it a little bit of an island feel. If you have kids, you'll need to bring entertainment for them because the restaurant doesn't offer crayon and coloring pages. But the restaurant is clean, and the waitstaff is always helpful and super friendly. We are always happily surprised when we get our bills (if that were possible) because it is about half the cost of what you would be charged at any other restaurant like this. This review is divided-up into service and meal. Service - was lacking. Waitress tells us after our meal arrives onion rings are not considered a side thus I have to order a different side - well if I would have known that I still would have ordered them but since I did not want to wait since my entrée arrived I ordered a different side. Our waitress paid much more attention to everyone else we had to constantly tell her to refill the water and get us other items (ketchup etc) since the one on the table was empty. I went for mother's day! I was pleasantly surprised that the wait was only 15-20 minutes with it being so packed that day. Don't come here. 1) We waited 5 minutes at least for the hostess to show up. Numerous employees saw us, but no one said anything to us. When the hostess appeared, she didn't apologize or anything. 2) I had to change seats because they decided to set up a large group in a booth and 2 tables pushed together. If I had stayed in my seat, I would have been hit numerous times by the people sitting at the table. 3) We waited 30 minutes for food. When the food finally did arrive, we were missing two sides (one for me and one for my mom). My steak was a center cut top sirloin; however, it was encased in fat. It was so bad my mother switched steaks with me. My dad's ribeye was very fatty as well. My dad's baked potato looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The skin was hard. The potato was so cold that the butter and cheese didn't melt at all. By the time they brought him a new baked potato, he had finished his steak already. His broccoli cheese casserole was cold as well. My steamed broccoli was cold as well. 4) The manager took my father's meal off our ticket; however, our bill still had it on there. My update is about the lack (timing) of response to our complaint. While it has taken months to be contacted by HQ over this matter... we still have not returned to what was once a favorite spot. It's the fact it took months and finally a tweet and RETWEET to be contacted. I hate Twitter. Does this change my opinion???? No. Doubtful we will ever return to this location fake apologies or not. When we ask where to go for a "family" outing- my children always respond everywhere BUT this place. I don't even want to go into the description they give this restaurant. They used to love it, we used to take out of town guests here- now we just pass by it weekly... with my toddler viewing it from the backseat. I've heard a lot about Cheddars and I finally got to try it this past Saturday. If you're coming here during a Saturday night, a word of warning, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes because this place is PACKED! It took me 45 minutes to get a table for 2 people but I can't complain because my experience was pretty good. The food took awhile to come out but our waitress was very nice and made sure we were happy with everything. Based on my friend's suggestion, I opted to get the dijon chicken and mushrooms with a side of mashed potatoes and red rice & beans. Also, I was feeling pretty hungry so I decided to add a caesar salad for $1.99. Since I decided to get the salad after my order was placed, it came alongside my entree but no big deal. About the chicken, it was delicious! I wasn't aware that it was served on rice pilaf so I was a little overloaded on starches but the dish is definitely something I would order again. The red rice & beans were a little bland so I wouldn't suggest them but the mashed potatoes with gravy made up for that. One thing to keep in mind, the entree is pretty big. A salad was not necessary and when I do go back, something I will avoid. Overall, Cheddar's is a great addition to Sugar Land in a pretty new area. Located next to H.E.B. and across the freeway from Sam's Club, it isn't that hard to find. The parking lot is roomy so you're sure to find a space but be warned that this place gets packed! read more

Meanwhile the other seats at the bar were filling up with absolutely no regard for social distancing. After looking at the menu for 10 minutes while waiting for a bar tender that was nowhere to be found. He finally came out and told me that he would not allow me to sit where I was sitting due to the guy being two seats to my right and that was too close even though there were people directly next to him on the other side. This location may look nice but it;s not. My husband and I and our two boys usually go to the Westchase location but we moved recently and only come to SL locat. for convenience. We've been a few times and it was ok.. I ordered to key west chkn/shrmp and my hubby ordered tenders/shrmp. when our food came out I had very small shrimp and the salsa barely had pineapple and my hubbys tenders very very small. when we addressed this to the manager he said it was a shipping issue and that the large chicken are seasonal..which doesnt make sense, since when was chkn seasonal...we've been going to Cheddars for years and NEVER had portion issues..the salsa was made different too, We will NEVER go to this location again, they definitely don't make the food the same as westchase! We were HIGHLY dissapointed BTW the key west chkn and shrimp is VERY good my fav dish on the menu!!!, just don't get it here! read more

I absolutely love Cheddar's. Never have I gone was I dissatisfied, until now. Food: I always order the tilapia mango salsa dish, but today after trying a friend's plate, I got the Cajun Alfredo Pasta. The chicken in the pasta was EXTREMELY salty. The pasta didn't taste flavorful at all from what I remembered it to be. Definitely wouldn't get this plate again at this location. The honey croissant was delicious because nothing could much go wrong with that. The chicken tenders have always pleased my sister, and I have to admit chicken tenders at Cheddar's was pretty delicious, but this location tasted different. I couldn't figure out why, but it just was. The salad was filled with the ice berg crunchy part and not the actual leafy part, so I felt a little ripped off cause of that. Service: The server we had was EXTREMELY overly friendly to the point he was annoying. I want service that cares and takes the initiative to make us feel welcomed and served, not kissed up to. This server was literally standing over our shoulders and kept reminding us, in a cheesingly annoying way, that he is going to take care of us. If he wants to take care of us, serve us and then let us enjoy our meal and the company that we came with. Then at the end he mentions and really pushes for us to take a survey and tell them how great he was because recently they have been getting bad reviews of the food and the service. Then we knew why he was being to annoying. He wanted to ensure he didn't lose his job. Sweet kid, but pushed it over the top. Then to top it all off, as we are leaving, this server brings out a tower of onion rings to us. We tell them we didn't order it, and he frantically apologizes and goes to the table next to us, then they tell him its the wrong table as well. Basically, after the second strike the whole section of the restaurant started to stare and laugh in confusion as the table who did order watched the server guess another table wrong. That table was extremely upset, and I wouldn't blame him cause he could've gone to verify it with someone before trying so many tables. Over all, this restaurant may not have been on it's best quality of food today, but service was quite disappointing. Yes, our server went over the top to make us happy, but he really just made it worse. I wouldn't return to this location but rather go to another location just so I can leave a little bit happier and remain loving the restaurant I do most. read more

I was really excited to hear that a Cheddars opened up in Sugar Land because I loooved going to the one in Austin. I was back in Texas for only a week and had limited # of restaurants to dine at, but Cheddars was one of them ; ) I was a little wary due to other reviews saying that service was bad or slow, but our waitress did a fine job. As for food, I ordered the lunch portion of the grilled salmon with sides of mashed potatoes and seasoned rice. My dad ordered the grilled salmon as well except dinner portion, and my salmon was actually pretty sizeable compared to his (I'm not sure how they compared ounce-wise but I thought mine was a good deal). It was all very tasty and satisfying. Salmon wasn't overcooked. I'm usually kind of nervous about bringing my dad to American restaurants since he has more of a taste for Asian food, but he liked his meal. We also ordered a side of their famous honey buttered croissants (comes with 3), which I was much anticipating/craving. Unfortunately it was a little skimpy on the honey compared to the butter, so it didn't taste as good as I remembered it. One more downside is that I think the prices went up because the chicken pot pie used to be $5 and change but now it's $6.69. However, the menu items are still reasonably priced (especially the burgers). Overall, I would say the quality is comparable to the typical Cheddars, which is a good thing. *thumps up* read more

I love Cheddar's. Especially those crispy chicken tenders and cheap drinks! I enjoy the Westchase location very much and never had much of a problem over there. Service was always excellent and food always comes out pipping hot delicious! This location does not live up to the Westchase one. Service either lacks or is just interesting... My first visit it was hard to track the waiter down. Then this recent visit... our waiter "Coolio" (the name he introduced himself with) was quite an interesting fellow. He was sweet and checked up on us frequently. But when we paid our bill in cash, he gave us short $10... It could have been an honest mistake but then again who knows? I don't know if it was the right thing to do by opening up his own wallet and giving us the $10 himself? Now that is suspicious! Both times I ordered the chicken tenders and they were warm at best. They weren't greasy thankfully yet still crunchy. Plus there was more breading then actual chicken. Pooo! Fries tasted frozen and just not good. Even I can make frozen fries taste better at home!
