That's when we came across Cup N Char and noticed they offered Detroit-style pizza--something neither of us had tried before. We stopped by to order in person, and right away the staff made a great impression. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was very clean. There were also a few groups dining in, which gave the place a nice, welcoming vibe. Since we wanted to try a variety, the staff recommended ordering a half-and-half medium pizza, which turned out to be the perfect suggestion. We went with half Italian Mob (pepperoni, onions, banana peppers, and sausage) and half Grassy Chicken (chicken, onions, and banana peppers). Both sides were flavorful, with the Detroit-style crust really standing out--crispy on the edges and soft inside. We also ordered the chicken wings with the original hot sauce, and those were a great addition. The flavor was rich and buttery--definitely a must-have alongside the pizza. Overall, the portions were generous, and we loved being able to mix and match flavors. This is a spot we'll definitely be coming back to for takeout pizza and wings.

Granted, two of the pizzas had been done correctly, the third was not as expected. Light sauce was on the receipt because it was ordered online and I verified the receipt after the box was open. The sauce appear to be double instead of light. Not sure how they managed to get the cheese and toppings to slide onto the side of the box, but I should have checked before I left because that box was not shut all the way. The establishment does not have the healthiest of choices, but I have supported them on a regular basis for 10-12 years. It was always nice to be able to catch a quick meal and feel confident in the staff. The staff there has always been kind regardless if things moved quick, if things were running behind or the friendly check in when I arrive. Plenty of parking in the Aliana area of Richmond and there's a faux grass area for kids to play between Blend & Bites and Fat Boy's Pizza. Great spot for first date and grab a cookie from Crumble Cookies or get a froyo and just sit by the faux grass area by any of their outdoor bench. Great for family, great for solo, great for a date, great for sibling quality time. Unfortunately (as of April 12, 2025), it looks like business may not be doing so well or rent/bills too high. They have updated their hours so no more late nights (which is actually my only time here) and now cash only. I hope they can stay in business because I genuinely enjoy this laid restaurant. The crust was so light and airy, no grease in the pan, packed with flavor in a healthier way. Customer service was great as usual and the pie came out within 5 or 6 minutes after ordering. In the past we would have had to ask for to go boxes. Last night we were able to consume both pies and were full, not overfilled. Right amount of sauce to cheese ratio and plenty of garlic, cheese, and crushed peppers. Can't wait this long to go back, ask for Sam the owner and he was not in.
