Great menu choices, everything cooked from scratch as in the name. We started with the Homemade Onion Rings (a tower). I'll post a photo but we ate it so fast it's only a partial tower. I had the Key West Chicken & Shrimp smothered with pineapple pick de galo served over rice and two sides. The sweet chili sauce was delicious. 660 calories. My sister had the Crispy Chicken Tender Noodle Soup ( 320 calories bowl ) and my other sister had the Crispy Chicken Tender Salad (760 calories) with Honey Mustard ( 370 calories). Everything was delicious and served enthusiastically by Tom. I think when they hired Tom they were holding auditions and not interviews. He was great and very well versed in the menu items. Decided to have dinner at Cheddars last night. We eat at Cheddar's often when we're home so this seemed like an ideal place to go. Cheddar's never disappoints. We shared an order of onion rings. A plate piled high with rings that were lightly breaded were scrumptious. My wife ordered her usual pot pie and I tried the catfish. A huge pile of filets, lightly breaded, were delicious. Had two sides and a salad. It was more than I could finish so a togo box would give me enough for lunch the next day. Our server was outstanding. My only criticism is the noise levels. With many families and young kids around a table in the rear is recommended if you want any quiet. Please don't let that stop you. Just ask for a quiet location. read more

For lunch I got the fried jalapeño cheese burger and I loved it. Must try burger. The service was ok, she was nice and friendly but did forgot the 2nd drink we ordered. We have been to multiple cheddars over the years. My boyfriend and I love cheddars! We are obsessed with their spinach dip. I have yet to find a better spinach dip anywhere else. My parents were in town so decided to bring them here. They have one by where they're from but never went. They loved everything!!!!!! They were amazing at how great the food tasted and how adorable it was. My mom was exceptionally impressed that the manager was walking around making sure everyone was doing well and had everything they needed. The waitress was very friendly and everything came out perfect. I recommend the spinach dip, the croissants, and I always get the buffalo chicken ranch wrap! Yum!!! My dad loved his Texas margarita. I have to say we have eaten at Cheddar's in Sanford so many, many times. It has slowly gotten worse each item and I am sadden by it, as I truly like going there. With all the new restaurants around, you would think that they would take a little more care in their customers. Tonight we visited at 4:30 p.m., thinking get in early and not have a crowd to deal with, there were 6 of us, and had the absolutely worst manager. Got there and they said just a minute, we are clearing off a table. So, 20 minutes later still no table. The manager kept coming back saying I have gone back there to get them moving. Finally when I said we would go somewhere else, the manager sat us at the table, which was the dirtiest table I have sat at. It was sticky and nasty. So, I asked the manager to have it wiped off before she gave us the menus. So, she goes and gets a rag, sits it down on the table beside us and starts to lay down our menus. Again, I said not until the table is wiped off. So, so starts and half wipes the table off. I actually had to ask her for the rag and wipe the table myself. The only saving grace was our server Brandon was amazing. He was the highlight to an absolutely awful start, middle and he made up for the end. So I ordered a ribs and chicken fingers plate with fries and a baked potato. The service was good. But the food was the worst I have ever tasted from Cheddars. The fries were literally so hard and stale it looked like they were sitting out for days. Not hours but DAYS. The ribs were super burnt. The baked potato came with a tiny bit of sour cream. About 5 strands of shredded cheese and butter. I am so disappointed. Worst of all this is not the first time I received sub par food from this location. This was my first time at any Cheddars restaurant. Everything tasted really fresh and made from scratch (as the name of the restaurant suggests). Also, definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. We ordered a chicken fettuccini, spinach dip app, 2 kids chicken tender and buffalo chicken wrap with a salad and potato cheddar soup along with two drinks for $50. The grilled chicken fettuccine was very light compared to other heavy cream and cheese sauces. However, there was not much flavor unless eaten with a piece of chicken which was very flavorful. They brined the chicken which kept it moist. Buffaloes chicken wrap was not bad. Came with cabbage and pickles inside the wrap. Not a very good combination for my tastebuds. The side caesar salad dressing was very good but too much dressing. And the cheddar potato soup was yummy but oh so filling. Creamy with little bits of chunks of potatoes and bacon. Can't go wrong with bacon is involved. The best dish would be the spinach duo appetizer and little salsa they provided. Both very flavorful and was the only dish we finished. Overall, giving three stars as some dishes we very good and others not much too write home about. Like the idea of a scratch kitchen as everything tastes fresh. Service was not bad but not memorable. The sand which we felt anyone could make at home and there was truly nothing special to it. I'm actually pretty impressed with this place. Went here with coworkers and we ordered an appetizer and 3 full meal and drinks which was a lot of food. We all had to take leftovers home. I think this place is a good value. They have a lot of variety which is great for when we have to go out to eat with a larger group (something for everyone). The New Orleans pasta is a bit salty, but enjoyable. The burgers are pretty good but they won't cook it colder than medium so be warned. My favorite items are the ribs and the Monte cristo. If I had one bit of advice, bring back the chicken and waffles! I've been to this location several times within the past few years. They have some pretty yummy dishes and at fairly reasonable prices. My go to dish is the Sirloin and Shrimp combo but my husband loves their Monte Cristo and New Orleans pasta. Honestly, we used to LOVE Cheddar's and this location. The service was always great, food was delicious and never a long wait. However, our last few visits here have been a different story. Last night there were five of us and we were told It'd be a 15-20 minute wait. It ended up being a 30-40 minutes. After being seated, our server seemed to not be having a great day as she actually complained to us about other previous customers she had that day. We waited a long time just to get our honey butter croissants which were kind of burnt and hard. We waited even longer for our main entrees. After 30 minutes of waiting, the manager comes out to tell us they ran out of the New Orleans pasta and only had one plate left (two at our table had ordered it) so someone had to order something else. 12 minutes after that, the server comes out to tell us there were zero New Orleans pastas left so my now husband had to choose something else. At this point we were all getting frustrated that no entrees had come out and they were now just telling us about the pasta ordeal. After finally getting all of our food, the manager came back and apologized. He gave my husband's dish on the house along with a free mac and cheese for my son, which did make up for a lot of it. Not sure why it seemed like the restaurant was going out of whack with their service, maybe under staffed or an increase of unexpected customers. It does seem like Cheddar's has gained a lot more in popularity so I hope that management and staff is able to keep up with the crazy nights. I'm a little conflicted on what to say about this place... We were sat at 655pm quickly. Our server was prompt in asking us for drink and app orders while we waited for the rest of our party. However, the app took about 20 mins to get to the table. We ordered the sampler platter and a loaded potato soup. All of which were good. The Potato Skins were my favorite and the cheese bites were surprisingly really good. I ordered the half ribs with red beans and rice and broccoli cheese casserole as my sides. Instead I got red beans and rice and coleslaw. Which I didn't mind, I like coleslaw. The sides were good. The red beans and rice were a little salty the colder it got. The ribs were a nice texture, fell right off the bone (thank goodness as I'm one of those people who eat them with a fork) and the sauce was amazing. I don't know what it was --- maybe the rub? But something about it was just off. Which ruined the whole meal and as hard as I tried to just roll with it because the texture and sauce were so good, I just couldn't. My boyfriend got a bacon cheeseburger with mac and cheese. He enjoyed the mac and cheese but only made it half way through the burger. Which is surprising as he usually inhales his food. It's very good for being a chain restaurant. Big portions including drinks and very affordable. My favorite is the ribs, a half rack is more than enough. I would have given it a another star if they won't have taken away the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles was the best thing they had on their menu, so when they took it off I stopped going for a while. I came in about 230 on a Friday afternoon and as people hello how common it there's lots of employees sitting around talking including the manager. I waited about five minutes for service while bunch people just looked at me that worked here as they chatted. Food was okay but the service was frustrating. The slackadaisicalness continued through out the meal with the manager chatting with her employees while they were not serving their customers. So rude! read more

Wife had the country fried chicken and it was excellent. Two large pieces cooked and season well and gravy was tasty. I had the bourbon grilled pork chop. To say it was over cooked is an understatement. It was a hockey puck and inedible. I was taken care of by a gentleman named "Jimmy" and for both times he took care of me and my friends he did an excellent job. Listen, I don't like giving anyone negative reviews unless I think they truly deserve it. I mean, some of the reviews on here seem pretty petty. As in, someone forgot your drink? Omg, the world is not going to come to an end. The waitress forgot to bring you bag for your food? *Shock face* Quick! Hold me while my millennial self swoons on Instagram! Having worked in the service industry, these things happen. When was the last time you were perfect at your job? But I have seen some legitimate complaints about the food and on that point, sadly, I have to agree. The food was pretty bland. Should have known this would be the case as we entered the restaurant and saw it was a geriatric convention. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and was pretty disappointed. The chicken itself was tough. Maybe it was old or overdone; I couldn't tell you either way. It was also one whole strip of chicken, which on top of being tougher than a dog's rawhide stick, made eating it a mess. Simple solution: cook it at the proper temp and cut it into pieces. Done. You're welcome . What you can't do is then slather it in bland (bottled?) buffalo sauce, sprinkle some giant shredded cheese on it and call it a day. I also ordered a side of Mac n' cheese, which was also super bland. It seems to be a southern tradition to over cook the pasta, slather it in Velveeta, and call it good. I'm not going to really fault Cheddar's on that one as a sophisticated Mac n cheese is just hard to come by in this state. Our service was great, even on a busy Saturday afternoon. We also didn't wait long to get seated. At the end of the day, this wasn't the joint for us. Maybe it was an off night, maybe I'm just a food snob, or maybe you enjoy more of a Bob's Big Boy type of menu. At the end of the day, it just wasn't for me. But you do you boo. read more

The BEST chicken strips I've ever had! A light, flakey, crispy coating and thick juicy chicken with a spicy mustard dipping sauce.. Extremely good! The shrimp had excellent seasoning with delicious teriyaki flavor dipping sauce. The restaurant was packed and we had to wait for about 20 minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait. Cheddar's in Sanford is always bustling. Expectedly, on Mothers Day, it was a madhouse. The declared wait time was 1 hour but we got seated around 30- not bad. The food was decent. I ordered the grilled chicken Alfredo. It was well portioned and priced reasonably for the taste. Personally, I have never found an amazing pasta anywhere I go but this was decent. What made this a 3 star experience for me was the server. She wasn't directly rude but was not overtly nice; she was terse. Her fellow workers were far nicer. She must have been stressed but it's not my job to counsel her on that. This is my second time here and the last experience was better. Minus the server, this time was still a decent one.
