Short and sweet review: bangin parking, bangin margs, bangin monte cristo, bangin steak, bangin good time :)

I loved this concept. From the outside you see beautiful bricks and copper --- in the inside you see a beautiful modern decoration complete with giant leaf fans, granite countertops, etc. Bathrooms are equipped with nice equipment from Moen and Georgia Pacific... Almost makes me feel like I'm in Biaggi's or Wildfire. However, the prices are as low as a casual diner, presentation of food is great, portion sizes are huge, service is very friends, and food is served fast even when the restaurant is very full. To reiterate, despite the extremely reasonable prices --- there is no compromise on food quality or portion sizes. The service quality and decorations are also not reduced as a result of low prices. All dishes do have an element of slightly higher sophistication (but not Michelin Star level, as you're paying about the same as you'd pay to go to any fast casual restaurant) and freshness to them. Flavors are simple in general, with clear themes and not overly reliant on sauces or spices. Here are my thoughts on some items: Cheddar's Painkiller and Spiked Cherry Limeade: Pretty good drinks, especially when you consider the price. These really stand out more for how nicely they are presented as you might think they're over $10 from a fancy bar -- although the flavor isn't anything special. Homemade Onion Rings: Huge portion and the flavor actually isn't too different from Outback Steakhouse (although it has a lot less spices). Chicken Tortilla Soup and Loaded Baked Potato Soup: Done surprisingly well -- chicken tortilla had a decent kick to it with nice crispy tortillas -- loaded baked potato really tasted like the potato was converted into a nice creamy soup and wasn't overly salty. Honey butter croissant: Nice and fluffy with a nice chewiness to it and just slightly sweet. Goes really nicely with the entrees. Triple treat sampler: Nothing really stood out for me here (was hoping the Chicken tenders would really stand out since they looked great) but on the other hand -- for $8.99 you get a lot of good food and it's great for sharing with the table. Fried shrimp: Nicely breaded, good for dipping but a little bland if eaten plain. Generous sizes for the prices paid though. Homemade chicken pot pie: The pie crust was nice and had a good buttery flavor to it, but the filling was a bit bland. Grilled tilapia and shrimp with mango salsa -- looks great, taste is okay but much better than I was expected. Portion sizes are quite generous and the shrimp has a nice sear flavor to it. Monte cristo: Tastes like a ham and cheese sandwich inside a nice fluffy soft donut. Sounds like an unusual combination but is actually a delicious dish. House salad: Nice and well balanced with a good crisp to all the vegetables and good color combination. Hand crafted asian salad: A bit too much dressing but the grilled chicken portion size was generous and the wonton crisp was perfect. The peanut sauce and sweet chili glaze helped to provide a very nice sweetness and just the right amount of heat to the dish. Ribs: Wow... this is a must-try dish here. Marinated nicely, with just a slight touch of burnt sauce. The meat falls right off the bone and is very juicy and not too lean. Fries: Crispy and light -- not too flavorful but matches well with other dishes. This restaurant is the perfect combination of good food, huge portions, beautiful decor, and low prices. I wish more restaurants would offer this incredible value although I'd still purchase this food at higher prices. read more

2nd time eating here and was surprised on how Delicious food was I ordered the steak and rib meal, lemon pepper chicken served over rice and ended up taking half of it home for leftovers the 3 stars does not reflect the quality of the food. The down side was my waiter Nick was dishonest with the cash payment that I gave him to pay my bill as he said he would take care of it a $93 & Change bill I gave him $100 + a decent tip and was informed by someone that I know that works there that Mr. Nick decided to pocket the money and acuse my party of dine and dashing which was not the case. I am very displeased with his lack of trust since he is in a position that may handle money and provide honest service. Hopefully management sees this review and takes the proper action towards Mr. Nick as this may not be his first time or last time acusing a table that he waited on of skipping out on a bill. My waiter was a little aggressive, the food was overall good & fresh. The mash potatoes aren't the best so keep in my the weird after taste. Tenders & fries were crispy. I went for the Nacho platter but I didn't see it on the menu anymore. Overall good food I'll be back to try more things. read more

Cheddar's is very large eatery of the main strip, hwy 50 in Kenosha. The building is very nice, large and organic, all clad in stone and copper. The inside is equally welcoming with natural stone and wood through out. The lighting is perfect and warm. Also the bar area, is all first come first served, to include the high tops negating the mere 10 minute wait on this busy night. The restaurant was packed this evening, as it typically appears everyday. Why? The food is easy and accessible... this is not a complicated eatery. The menu reminds me of all the favorite things you ask for from every other restaurant all gathered on one menu. This makes it nearly impossible not find something to tickle your fancy. Even for someone who eats as close to primal / paleo as possible, with 10% just eat and enjoy rule applied, I left full and satisfied. I had a perfectly seasoned and cooked bacon cheeseburger, sans bun, over greens, plus backed sweet potato (no sweet butter). It was about $10. The burger was large, had many (4-5) pieces of thick bacon and was nicely garnished. This might not be the place I aim for on the regular, but with kids, friends, and for something comforting... Cheddar's will surely satisfy, and they will do so with a smile. read more

Came to celebrate my moms birthday today. Here are the reasons for 2 stars: Food which tasted bad: fish plate with green beans tasted like it came from a can and broccoli was overcooked. Fish was very salty and didn't seem freshly cooked. Chicken tenders did not taste any different from fast food. Veg platter was not tasty which included the canned beans. The service was ok they didn't mess up the orders but they didn't come by often either to cleanup plates. They also don't do a complimentary dessert for the celebrant. It we ordered the pain killers we cake and choc fudge cake it was okay. The salads and appetizer we ordered were all good and the complimentary croissants were excellent. The bill did not automatically add gratuity for 11 people and it wasnt expensive. They need to work on improving the main entrees here. I was shopping in the area and we decided to try this place. The outside and inside looks nice and welcoming. The hostess was friendly and we got seated right away. The server took our drink order promptly and brought us complimentary croissants which were very good. However, I ordered my steak medium rare, it came extremely well done and looked terribly and tiny definitely not 8 oz. They took it off the bill and replaced with a chicken sandwich which was just ok. It started out well but went downhill with the main entree. Will most likely not be back. read more

Came for an early dinner here right after my fiance, sister, and brother in law went apple picking and we were famished! Let me start by saying the restaurant was big and very nice looking on the inside, we were very pleasantly surprised. The honey butter croissants are the best thing EVER! The service was super super slow and their mac n cheese was worse than microwave mac n cheese. Since we were all starving, we each ordered a dish. The one that stood out the most was the chicken pot pie, both my sister and i ordered our own and am I glad we did because once you take a bite, you do not want to share it!! The service was extremely slow and a lot of our food (Mac n cheese and chicken tenders) came to the table cold. Not a little cold, but literally cold cold, almost like when you take something out if the freezer and microwave it on high and then the outside of it is hot but the inside is still cold cold. Like that. Despite that, I 100% recommtthis place because it's a nice sit down place with amazing chicken pot pie, good Pina coladas, and phenomenal chicken pot pie! Not good. Took 2 hours for a "quick" lunch. So slow getting the food and drinks to the table. I don't know if they are fully staff in the kitchen or what but the restaurant was not very full at all. We had: New Orleans Pasta = Shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, peppers, onions and penne pasta tossed in spicy homemade Cajun Alfredo sauce with toasted garlic bread ($10.99); and Lemon Pepper Chicken = Grilled with lemon pepper seasonings, over rice, two sides- loaded baked potato + mac and cheese ($9.29). Drinks: Mango Mojito and Shaker Margarita Loved the service and affordable price points. Chicken was a bit underseasoned for my taste but definitely very safe to remain appealing. New Orleans pasta, oh so good, with a small kick. Drinks were awesome, mojito could have used more leaves but still a great end of summer drink finisher. This restaurant has a lot of great things going. The food was outstanding. The server was great and the decorations were stunning. I'd be wary of the low score. I waited to come here because of it. Man am I glad I did. No restaurant is perfect post covid. Try their garlic herb roasted chicken, sweet carrots and mashed potatoes. The chicken Alfredo was also really good. I had to send the steak back twice because I ordered well and the steak was still bleeding upon arrival (yuck) no raw meat for me please! Luckily, my server Kylie was excellent compared to the guy I had yesterday. I was charged double, but the price was zeroed out due to the inconvenience. I was more than willing to pay because once they got the steak right it was delicious however, I appreciate the gesture from my excellent and you're lucky if you have her Kylie. After years of enjoying this place, we have seen the service decline enough to not go back. The last time we were there after a long day, we stopped by. We got the typical wait line from the host and decided to sit by the bar to avoid waiting for a table. After sitting at the bar for a full 10 minutes, we were never approached or asked if we wanted or needed anything. While we waited, the bartender and servers talked about the food they would orders, their favorite drinks and personal lives. We then moved to a table in the bar area since there were 4 empty tables available hoping for a server. Once again, 10 full minutes went by only for the servers to make eye contact and continue on. No one approached us at all and we made the decision to leave. This was not the first time, but definitely one of the ones that sticks out. read more

Wow!! The Monte Cristo sandwich is exactly what everyone is raving about! We had a party of eight and because we waited so long, I almost ate the plant in the lobby JK!! Our plates came and our eyes popped out of our heads!! The portions were extremely generous and everything was super yummy! The honey croissants came after we finished eating. (They're so popular! Corporate dining. I love a good mom and pop but when you are not from the area and hungry you just go with something you've never tried. Service was very good it was fast too. I've been here before, food is decent (pre-pandemic, the menu looked different, more limited because of COVID issues?) but tonight we didn't even get to the food. Backing up some, wife and I have a limited time out for a wed night date night without our 4 kids and we chose to come here tonight. We walk in and 3 ladies were discussing something at the hostess station continuing to discuss themselves without even acknowledging us. Finally we get a "how many are in your party?" (No hello? Welcome to Cheddars?!) Not a good start. We get seated. We are hungry but definitely more thirsty than anything. Usually someone eventually comes by with "Hi, I'm xxxx. I'll be server tonight. Can I get you started with some drinks or appetizers?" We're looking over the menu. No one has come. We decide on 2 appetizers. Still no server. Waiting... still no server. We order the appetizers from the electronic kiosk thing at the table. Can't order entrees or drinks there. Still no server. I have a difficult time deciding between two entrees. Still no server. I finally decide, we are parched now. STILL no server. We're going on at least 25 min without being even acknowledged. Maybe it was busy? (Didn't look busy at all) Not even a stop by to say "So sorry we're so busy right now. We'll get to you soon." We're pretty reasonable people but that was past the point of ridiculous. We decided to walk out after 30min of NO ONE talking to us (though many walked by) and a waste of time on our precious date night. Well they gave me my scarf I almost left there, so I guess there's that. Take care of your customers, Cheddars. I definitely don't want to come back, at least not for a while. First time here. Always order a bacon cheeseburger for first time selection. The way I figure is if they screw up a burger there is no chance of other menu items being good. Well, the friggin' half pound burger was loaded with bacon and cooked medium rare to perfection. The fries were excellent. Drinks great. Very deserving of 4 stars. Next visit we'll choose other dinner items from the menu like steak, seafood etc., and hope to push the review to 5 stars. ........ and....... our waitress, who's name escapes me was polite, efficient, knowledgeable and competent. The service was absolutely horrible, and food was slow for the restaurant being not busy. I don't even know what our servers name was but she was older and clearly didn't give a crap about her job or guests. Probably saw her every 25 minutes. Waited 15 mins at least for every drink we needed. She was straight up rude and again just seemed like she didn't care about her guests. Waited 35 mins for appetizer (fried onion rings) and another 45 minutes for food. It was about noon and there was no wait yet and didn't seem busy. So went there this afternoon got the chicken Alfredo after 2 bites of the chicken noticed some of it was Raw. My date also looked at it and i was right. Server then looked at it and noticed it right away she says i can get you another ahhhh no thanks right like who has an appetite when they just possibly ate raw chicken. Worst dining experience I've had in at least 10yrs. I'll keep it short. My server was extremely high off something(not weed). Put our order in wrong 3 different times. The only reason I may return is because the rest of the staff were nice along with the manager as they knew she was high off her rocker. She single handedly will kill your business. This is a nice, new restaurant with really great pricing! The margaritas range from $3.00 to about $6 which is a steal! Most food items are between $8 and $10 which is really refreshing. Can't beat the prices, and the food is pretty tasty. We had: *Chicken and Waffles-wow! Great presentation, a full waffle, syrup for dipping and 4 pieces of delicious hot fried chicken tenders. Yum! *Fish tacos-pretty tasty. Opted for the fried fish, came with a yummie spicy mayo type of Cajun sauce on the side and some coleslaw/corn slaw inside. Choose one side and the list was pretty impressive! *Chips and Queso (with "free meat"). For $3.99 this was nice. Presentation needs work, a plate isn't the best vehicle to stack chips, and when you put the salsa bowl and queso bowl that takes up too much room. Luckily the chips are refillable. Great experience....well, the server was a pretty flakey girl, forgot her name but she had dark hair and announced she was under 21 so she claimed that is why she couldn't tell us about the drinks (??). Heard many brag about Cheddars so today I wanted to experience it. Today it was fairly crowded. Our wait was about 20-25 minutes. Our server "Shaun" was amazing! Friendly, courteous, knowledgable, and anticipated everything. Old fashion customer service is alive! Appetizers were "cheddar" and all that. We had 3-combo. Good. I had chicken & rib combo w/ broccoli casserole and red beans/rice. Huge portions--had to take food home. Atmosphere warm and welcoming. CSS guests left each table was bussed, swept, and sanitized. I wish there were a Cheddars closer to my area. I was out in Racine and really wanted to try Cheddars so we headed over. It was a Sunday evening and the parking lot was packed. We were greeted and seated right away, that was a nice surprise. Inside seemed much bigger than it looks from the outside. We were greeted by our waitress in a timely manner and since we were new to the restaurant, she gave us time to look over the menu without being pushy. Brie even gave us some suggestions based upon her experiences. We placed our drink order and waited, and waited, and waited. We were sitting in the bar area and waited 15 minutes to get our drinks. We watched the bartender make drinks....1 at a time and slowly. I don't know if he was new or just very slow but luckily our waitress went behind the bar to speed things up a bit after the 15 minutes so we could get our drinks. We placed our order, 2 appetizers and sandwiches. Seemed to have a longer wait for the food too. Other people around us were getting their food, so we continued to wait. I was very disappointed when our appetizers came out, not because they didn't look good, they actually looked delicious, it was because they came out on the same tray as our meals. I was told there "must have been an issue in the kitchen" I thought it was a little odd that she didn't offer to at least take one of the apps off the bill for the mix up. Overall, the food was great. Large portions for very reasonable price. Very tasty and fresh. Service could use some improvement, not as much by our waitress as the cook and bartender I guess in this situation. I would definitely try it again - hopefully this was a fluke night. read more

This place is very busy and always has a line. Went on a weekday for lunch and we still waited for 20 minutes. Food was very good. My daughter had a Monte Cristo which is pretty awesome. A little sweet but very good. She also had the potato soup which was very filling and good. I had their bacon cheese burger. It was good, but not GREAT. I would NOT come back just for their burger. Their menu has a good variety so we would come back to try other items. Service was good-to-great. In general, a good place to go if you're in the area. We've probably been here 1/2 a dozen times and we have never been disappointed. We stopped in today (Sunday) at approximately 11:30 and it already had a good crowd (I'm estimating 85% full). This place must be a goldmine, because it is always busy. At peak times there is typically a wait but it usually isn't too bad. Today I enjoyed the chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole. My son had the chicken fried steak which was massive and very tasty. The other two each had soup and 1/2 sandwich. Four meals and three alcohol drinks for $67. How can you beat that - you can't. read more
