Caesar Salad
Gary F.

We chose this spot mainly due to its location, diverse menu and the fact that it was open on Sundays. While I respect any business that chooses to close on Sundays, I'll say that people need to eat on Sundays as well! If I lived here, sure, I'd be happy to eat at home... but we're traveling and don't have the ability to cook! So kudos to Cheddars for being open. I originally ordered the herbed chicken but our server came back to inform us that they were out of it so I had to switch to something else and I chose lemon pepper chicken. I'm thinking the herbed chicken would have been better, since by its description, it was actual pieces of chicken and the lemon pepper chicken was more of a pressed patty made of breast meat. Not horrible, but not great either. The caesar salad was good - nice fresh lettuce and parmesan (I told them to hold the croutons)... the dressing was heavier than I'd like - if I had to do it over again, I'd get the dressing on the side. The croissants were delicious! Overall, this was a "mission accomplished" type of stop. Nothing fancy or special, but I don't think they are trying to be fancy or special... the servers were friendly and the place was clean. A solid option for someone on the go or someone who just can't or doesn't want to cook at home.

202402161810 Strange. Friday night with no waiting? Well, it is raining. Anyway, we sit quickly & Isaiah brings us Buttered Croissants, nice & warm. The Painkiller is a favorite drink & I'm trying a Maui Margarita with a shot of cactus juice. Mmmm-buddy. One's a tropical delight & the other is a coconut pineapple drink. Look 'em up. The Monte Cristo is a classic favorite. Smoked ham, smoked turkey & cheese, battered & fried, with raspberry preserves & powdered sugar. Boo-ya! Enjoy your meal in low lighting, high booths, funky spinning fans & a big fish aquarium. Clean place, fine foods, good drinks & Isaiah is great.

Although our server at Cheddars believes "Kaden" is more superior spelled with a "C", our experience with him was probably the best we've ever had. He was not only attentive and quick to serve, but he was absolutely entertaining throughout the entire evening! My girlfriend and I shared that it was our 8 year anniversary, and he made sure to customize our dessert before it hit the table. His attention to every detail made our anniversary more special than just a night out. We recommend Cheddars, and we highly recommend Caden! Kaden Franco

This is a popular place to eat since it opened in MJ and rightfully so. The wait isn't horrible. You can join the waiting list online by the way. The service is outstanding. The food is delicious. You get all of this for a very fair price as well. The wife and I both had a nice dinner for under $40 before tip. We had to wait all of 2 minutes to be seated. We were immediately greeted by a top notch waiter. They bring out these delicious complimentary sweet croissants that are really more like pastries. The blackened salmon was delicious. The wife loved her meal of pineapple chicken and shrimp. You can't go wrong at Cheddars!

Food was consistent, and croissants served for free were delicious. Service was definitely below par. Overall just a mediocre spot to eat, but a large menu which would be good for families or large groups.

New Orleans Pasta

I've eaten at Cheddar's in Alabama too many times to count, and I'm rarely disappointed. Though it has been a few years since I've been, I'm glad this location did not disappoint. My family always order the New Orleans Pasta, so since this was my boyfriend's first time trying Cheddar's I suggested he try that along with the butter croissants. Both were a hit and he loved it! I ordered the pasta as well and was stuffed after eating everything. We ordered curbside pickup which was an easy process and the food was well packaged. Based on his moans of joy from the pasta, I'm sure we will be back soon!

Not my first time at Cheddar's and probably won't be my last, but this visit was a bit disappointing. I love Country Fried Steak and Cheddar's is one of my favorites when I visit the South. However, this time it was raw in the middle and inedible about halfway through. Luckily I had mashed potatoes and yummy green beans to dig into. I also ordered a Margarita which was OK.BTW it was huge! The first couple tastes were fine but I was done about halfway through. Our server was a sweet girl.

Service was great and the fish was wonderfully cooked. Nice and relaxing too. Great place to visit.

This was our first visit to this Cheddar's location. We entered the restaurant and were seated quickly. Our waiter was friendly and took our drink and appetizer order. Our favorite appetizer at Cheddar's has always been the cheese fries, and these fries had plenty of cheese and bacon. Delicious! Our entrees were the Smokehouse burger with broccoli casserole and the shrimp & chicken tenders. These were both delicious and we had leftovers to bring home. I'm so glad we have this Cheddar's location near us. We look forward to visiting again.

Enjoyable dishes

Awkward and slow introduction, great waitress didn't put my number down correctly so no text when our table got ready but got seated quickly when we wondered in after the while. Waitress was timely and friendly yet didn't seem to hear us well but we worked with it. Had a good time looking over the extensive and familiar menu, went with cheese curds to start, one buddy tried the pasta and actually cleared the plate! My friend and I split the full rack of ribs, a bit fattier than others and lacking sauce but tasty and easy to eat. Wonderful to see the fake inflation corporate greed hasn't taken over priced here, also great to see excess food donated to local banks! Cheddar's always makes a good time and pleases everyone.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

Chad was friendly, chatted us up, and offered speedy, quality service. The Spiced Pear Mule was delicious and well balanced. The space was warm, and I would've been happy if we'd stayed and gotten dinner here. The pig ears were so good. They were super crispy and served with sweet and sour sauce and mustard, which provided the perfect contrast. The sweet and sour sauce gave you that addicting, luscious flavor and the mustard had just enough pungency to keep you coming back for more. We demolished the bowl in probably record time. We also got the pimento cheese beignets, which were okay. They were deliciously fried pillows of dough that I felt could've used a bit more pimento cheese filling, but the pig ears completely overshadowed them. Devastated that nowhere around me offers this dish and I'll have to wait until the next I come back to get them again!

That is surprisingly hard to find consistently in most of the barbecue places in Nashville. The pork here has great flavor good, but sometimes is a little dry. I love the beans and the potato salad here. The coleslaw isn't creamy, so it's not for me. I do wish they had bigger cups. They are hilariously small for a drink to go with flavor-filled BBQ. This place is not fancy. That's what is great about it. You get a free view of the marina, and after you eat be sure to visit J. Percy Priest Dam. They champion great music here, and I've enjoyed the solo players on the patio during warm days. I look forward to coming at night when the joint is jumping. Easy counter service and great conversation with the staff solidifies the authenticity of the food. There is magic here. Come and get it!

For my sides, I went with Mac and cheese and their baked beans. It took a bit to come out. First, I did not expect two sandwiches, I thought that I would get a platter. Not earth shattering, but different. The sides were both pretty terrible. Like I would not be surprised if the beans came out of a can and the mac and cheese came out of a box. The sausage was not the best, but the pork was pretty good. I guess I will give it three stars overall.

The fried chicken is, without exaggeration, among the most excellent in the city, and the portions are notably generous. Each accompanying dish is prepared with the utmost care and discernment, reflecting a commendable attention to detail. Having first dined here upon our arrival in Nashville, it has since secured a place of particular esteem among the establishments we hold in highest regard. This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.
