This local meat and three is nice to have available but the food is at best mediocre. Everything I have had here could stand to be seasoned better. Not sure I will be returning anytime soon.

I can't believe I've waited so long to try Local Joe's! Stopped in for lunch today. The food was fresh & GOOD! The service was top notch, friendly and proactive. The place is clean. They even brought warm, out of the oven, chocolate chip cookies to our table for dessert. Well done! Chicken & dumplings, green bean casserole & baked apples for the win. Only problem is I went home and took a nap for a half hour instead of logging back into work.... It was that kind of satisfying

Local joes is one of the last good meat and threes in MJ. I'm not from Tennessee originally but when I moved here the idea of a cafeteria being available in many different places was amazing (I may have gained 20 lbs my first few years cuz I can't say no to a meat and some sides!)! After the closure of Courtney's, Local Joes has been a good replacement. They have fun family events like balloon animals sometimes and even when it's busy they deal with it pretty well. It's somewhere I would be proud to take my family if they ever decided to come to Tennessee to visit! I'm giving 4/5 because their food consistency is not always 100. In my photo my food was lukewarm and kinda just OK, but I've definitely gone before and it's been some of the best food I've ever had. They also go around giving cookies sometimes and that home style touch is what MJ is all about!

That is surprisingly hard to find consistently in most of the barbecue places in Nashville. The pork here has great flavor good, but sometimes is a little dry. I love the beans and the potato salad here. The coleslaw isn't creamy, so it's not for me. I do wish they had bigger cups. They are hilariously small for a drink to go with flavor-filled BBQ. This place is not fancy. That's what is great about it. You get a free view of the marina, and after you eat be sure to visit J. Percy Priest Dam. They champion great music here, and I've enjoyed the solo players on the patio during warm days. I look forward to coming at night when the joint is jumping. Easy counter service and great conversation with the staff solidifies the authenticity of the food. There is magic here. Come and get it!

For my sides, I went with Mac and cheese and their baked beans. It took a bit to come out. First, I did not expect two sandwiches, I thought that I would get a platter. Not earth shattering, but different. The sides were both pretty terrible. Like I would not be surprised if the beans came out of a can and the mac and cheese came out of a box. The sausage was not the best, but the pork was pretty good. I guess I will give it three stars overall.

Today I realized it was right down the street from me so I stopped by, no one came to the counter right away so I was able to snap a picture of the menu. As I tried to sneak out the owner came to the window and I felt compelled to order a fish plate and wings. I just wanted to check the menu because I knew I wouldn't want to pay $20 for food. I left and came back about 20 minutes later and the food was ready and still very hot. My 2 plates only came out to $13 and change so I was very happy about that. The food taste amazing to say the least. My wings were seasoned perfectly and came with a Buffalo ranch sauce that my mom used to make at home, didn't even know that sauce was a real thing! The fish was perfectly crispy and the coleslaw different, since it had relish and mustard in it, and still very good. The best part of it all to me were the fries, I love how they were seasoned and soft. I could not tell for sure but some of my wings looked like the meat may have been old or previously thawed out, learned that from watching kitchen shows on TV. Still very good and not worth losing a star over. This restaurant is only open Thursday through Saturday and it's tucked off in a neighborhood beside the public works office.

Situated in the heart of Germantown, this modest yet distinguished establishment offers not only fare of exceptional quality, but also the singular pleasure of partaking in a communal table, where strangers are received as companions, an echo of a more gracious and convivial age. The fried chicken is, without exaggeration, among the most excellent in the city, and the portions are notably generous. Each accompanying dish is prepared with the utmost care and discernment, reflecting a commendable attention to detail. Having first dined here upon our arrival in Nashville, it has since secured a place of particular esteem among the establishments we hold in highest regard. It is, beyond question, an experience to which one ought to aspire at least once. I confess a certain satisfaction in knowing that such a venerable tradition continues to flourish in the South.

This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.
