I wanted some soul food on a Tuesday and decided to come here. Ehhh... not sure I'm satisfied with my choice. It's a cafeteria style establishment. Each day they have different menu options. Be sure to check out the menu before going to save yourself the disappointment. I ordered fried chicken (white meat) with Mac and cheese and candied yams. Fried chicken was fried fairly decent, but had they kept it in any longer it would've been burnt. The oil may need to be changed. Cornbread is delicious. This was probably the highlight of my entire plate. Candied yams...smh! I have never tasted candied yams like these. Nonetheless get the entire yam as the side. I was looking forward to these and was let down tremendously. Flavoring was off and I expected these to be top tier. Mac and cheese was good. Thankfully, I got the first scoop out of a fresh batch. Service was fast, but rushed when trying to decide on what you want. Especially when you're set on something and then have a chance to see it through the glass and immediately change your mind. This establishment has always been a hit or miss for me. Hopefully if you check it out it'll be a hit for you.

Glad I got in today before the week closed for VACA. Always GREAT FOOD, SERVICE and Easy to Order.

As you can see, I've tried a variety of meals here. I would give this place a solid three. I've been more impressed with the sides then the actual many entrees. Cons: Meatloaf was not tender at all. It was a block of whatever it was. I wouldn't get again. Chicken and dressing had something grainy in the texture. It was like either mashed eggshells or a seasoning that wouldn't dissolve. The dressing was salty. Do not get the banana pudding. It's not a homemade one. I was disappointed by that. I haven't tried the fried chicken yet but it doesn't look like it's made to order. It sits on a heat rack after it is cooked. Voicemail is full and no one answers the phone for call ins or questions. Pros: Affordable prices A large amount of food I enjoyed the mashed potatoes with gravy and fried corn. I liked the turnip greens (a little salty) and cabbage. Hushpuppies were warm and tasty. The ribs hit the spot and fall off the bone. It's so tender and flavorful. Staff are nice and patient. Restaurant is clean

Met there with an ole High School Football buddy. The location is back in the corner of the old Zayers Shopping Complex. It's been a lot of things over the years. They have a day to day menu that has treat choices of Meat and 2. When we were there they had Neck bones, Fried Chicken and pork chops etc. My buddy got the Chicken and dumplings and I had the Pork Chop, fried corn and Greens. Everything was delicious. They even gave us a sample of the Neck Bones. Had Banana Pudding which was ok. However they had at least 5 choices of deserts. At first I was concerned with the service line lady because of the yelling to the back cooks. Lol when we got up to order she was a doll. It was like being at a family's backyard grill out. So if you like Fried Chicken, BBQ, Liver And Onions and just good ole Soul food this is the place. Just make sure you check on line or call to see what their serving. If you looking for Ambiance IMHO this place isn't it. Great Food it's a Champ! Oh I forgot to add the Hot Water Cornbread. I thought I was a Cornbread Connoisseur. Yet It was a first for me having that type of cornbread.

    Poor reflection of Black Business.

Decent food but terrible business. They close early almost daily, they never have all the items on the menu and the employees look beyond tired. This is a perfect candidate for the show "Restaurant Impossible". They sell decent food but the management (if there is one) is beyond bad. Every time I've been they're literally yelling out what they don't have. Then it's "we got 25 mo minutes on macaroni". Maybe everyone else is rating the food alone at 3.5, which sounds about right. But the restaurant is definitely a 1 star.

This place is straight fire!!!! The lady at the hotel recommended we check this place out and I'm glad we did. This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time and we will definitely be back again. Oh yeah and make sure you get the ribs

Best Ox Tails in the world and their portions are not skimpy. All the sides are seasoned and tasty.

Please look up the website to see what they serve; because it will be different at the table every day. However, on this day we were served tender roast beef ( well done) seasoned crispy chicken and ribs. Our sides were mash, greens, green beans and not thrown out of the can, chicken casserole, corn soufflé, gravy, biscuits mac n cheese ( peach preserve) corn bread. Cole slaw ( good) and cucumber salad both teas and lemonade or this punch just delicious. pecan pie or banana pudding. So between the good food and the meeting of new people with laughter. I came out stuffed and with a smile. Also no RSVP but worth the wait. If you miss that feeling of home or just want comfort stop by to be welcomed.

We started with the meatball skewers, which were great, and the sauce that came with them was perfection. I also have to mention the Cabernet, one of the best glasses of wine I've had in a while. The one drawback was the dinner menu felt a little limited on options. That said, what we got delivered. My fiancé had the strip steak, which was really good, and I got the pork, which was also amazing. Overall a really good experience. The 3.5 is mainly because we spent $250 and still left a little hungry. Other than that, a really cool place worth checking out.

I forget if it was independent…read moreresearch, Breanne in my ear about her trip to the Charleston location, or it just showing up on my feeds that put it on my radar first, but I've been telling myself this is a must-visit restaurant. I even had a chance to go before, when Toby and I had made plans in 2020 to come to the city. Obviously, we know what happened then. I think it was worth the wait. I loved their whole take on Southern cuisine. From the confit wings in Alabama white sauce to their Bucksnort trout, to their Heritage pork--everything tasted delightful. Admittedly, the bright green sauce and saturated Carolina gold rice looked a little funny to me. But once I had my first bite I thought it was heavenly. The server was impeccable. He was courteous, quick, and helpful. I had questions about the menu and concerns about if the arrangement of dishes ordered were too much. But he made the whole meal better with his suggestions and assurances. Even the other incidental staff were well-trained, filling the water and always assisting with the experience. The ambiance was picture-perfect. Obviously the place is permeated with charm and class in equal measure. It felt like we were eating in our well-off friend's home and had put together a spread of time-tested country favorites but with a twist. From the decor to the herb and vegetable garden outside, I felt super welcomed and comfortable. Yes, Husk was a success. I'm a changed man because of the experience. Sufficed to say I will be recommending it to even more people than before and will be waiting like a puppy at the window back home for the next opportunity to come back to Nashville and/or the other locations for my next meal.
