This spot is my favorite place to get some good smoked brisket. The sweet potato fries are my favorite side dish and everything tied with the spicy barbecue is the best. The staff are very helpful, sweet and fast and I love the live music that they have. awesome place to get some good supper. Thank You!!!!

We were greeted by Justin. He's the manager on site at this time. We were seated with no wait time and our server is Marissa. She's friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The ambiance is family friendly and well lighted with soothe music. Fried green beans were very tasty. My better half loved the fried green beans. OK hands-down the cook must've knew we were coming. Everything looks really good and tasty so I have to give it a thumbs up. I suggest if you haven't been you need to try it out thank you.

We went around 2:30 on a Friday and there was hardly anyone here. The staff were all super sweet, our server was also incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was AMAZING, the Philly cheesesteak was really good and a unique twist on a classic that worked really well. I also HIGHLY recommend the fruit tea. My husband enjoyed the pulled pork with mashed potatoes and green beans, the mashed potatoes where the star of an already good meal. We will definitely be back in the future!!

Mallory was so kind and helpful! She took good care of us even though we told her we are from CA!

The bbq brisket was tasty. The green beans were awful. The rest was just ok. The bathroom smelled bad (moldy or something). We went a couple days after Xmas so service was a bit slow since there were only a couple of them at the restaurant. I've been to the one downtown before and the experience was different.

This is Puckett's newest location. And while the newness is apparent on several levels, I believe they will cruuuuush it here! Hendersonville has limited dining out options, despite its growth. And Puckett's will fill a void. Get your reservations as early as you can, as they book up very quickly. The smoked meats were as delicious as I know them to be from their other locations, and the baked beans, skillet mac and cheese and corn muffins make for quite the holy trinity of side dishes. The only miss for me is the smashed sweet potatoes. Just not enough going on there for what I was looking for. Overall, friendly folks and a great meal!

Throughout the meal, they checked in and made us feel truly taken care of. They even came by with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies straight off the baking sheet and handed them out for free! The food itself was excellent. They offer great Southern favorites like shrimp & grits and fried chicken, but I went with the fried boneless pork chop. It was perfectly crunchy, full of flavor, and topped with a generous amount of delicious country gravy. Portions are no joke -- I only made it through half before I was stuffed. I did save just enough room to try the cherry pie, and I'm so glad I did. It was fantastic. I can't say enough great things about Local Joe's. So I was coming back home from my Sunday night hockey game and as I passed what I call "Restaurant…read moreRow", I realized I had nothing to eat for dinner. Or rather, I didn't feel like cooking. It was 7 o'clock and I just had Edley's the Wednesday prior at their Murphy Road location. I was craving those ribs again, so I made a U-turn and went back. Being so "late" on a Sunday in the suburbs, it wasn't very busy at all. Nobody was at the front register for several minutes until someone peeked around at the to-go area and told someone else. As you may know, I'm a man of habit. I ordered nearly the exact same thing as I always do at Edley's but swapped up the sides. Half Slab St. Louis Ribs platter, Chess Pie, but Grits Casserole and Collard Greens. If there's a vegetable side dish I love more than any other, it's any kind of greens. The fact that they had them (they normally aren't on the menu) was a no brainer. The grits casserole was a last minute swap up but I'm glad I tried them. Now, the thing with going late to any restaurant, especially barbecue joints is that the food tends to "age" as the day goes on. Like, your food isn't as "fresh" as if you came earlier in the day. I knew this going in but I wanted to point this out. The greens were delicious but because I went in late in the day, they were super tangy from the vinegar being cooked down over time. They had a nice heat to them and the leaves were overly cooked, but I enjoyed them nevertheless. The grits casserole had a nice rich cheesey flavor incorporated into them. Just like the collard greens, there was a subtle heat that sat on your tongue after the initial bite. The cornbread was fantastic. Warm, sweet, with also a heat kick to them. Lastly the ribs hit the spot, just like I expected them to. Compared to the other Edley's (where I went during prime time lunch), these were a little dry but they had the same flavor profile. Meaty, fatty, and tangy-sweet with that nice crunch of cartilage at the end. I ended up taking my chess pie home to heat up in the microwave (who eats cold pie)?? As always, it was fantastic. The only reason this wasn't as good as the other review is because I came at the end of the day and the food "sat" over time in their warmers and such. Like I said in my prior review for the Murphy Rd Edley's, Edley's has always been consistent no matter which location I go to and that's why it still gets a 5*.

I took my mama there that same weekend and the rest is history.. The whole family was hooked. I live out of state, but my mom and son, in Springfield, frequent this place on special days out. They share a birthday, April 9th, and were having a birthday lunch there this afternoon, when I got the idea to call the restaurant to ask if there was any way I could provide a card to cover their lunch, since you pay at the end. I was greeted and helped by the kindest woman, Alicia. She found them, about to leave, and hurried to take my info! She was lovely in the sincerest way. I gave her my phone number if there were any issues. Well, there were, as my lovely mom perused their delightful gift shop area (think Cracker Barrel but better) so long the pre-auth expired and my card declined! LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS The girl who called back to get things squared away was just as darling as could be, I'm sorry I didn't get your name, but thank you. Portions are generous, everything feels fresh and comforting, and it's consistently done well. We've eaten here in person and grabbed it to go on busy nights, and it holds up every time. Our personal favorites are the chicken, pot roast, and meatloaf, all hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving a solid comfort meal. One of the things I love most about this place is that it truly feels like "come as you are." There's no single type of crowd here. You'll see families, business meetings, date nights, people dressed up, people dressed casually, groups of two, groups of four, and even three generations sitting together. It works before or after church, after school, after soccer games, or after work. No judgment, no pressure, just people showing up for great food and a great environment. What really stands out is how respectful and welcoming everyone is. Whether it's a toddler learning to eat, someone needing a little extra space, or a busy group navigating a crowded moment, people are patient, kind, and considerate of one another. The staff and guests alike create an atmosphere that genuinely embodies Southern hospitality. What also makes this place special is how much thought has gone into the overall experience. While you're waiting in line, there are fun and unique extras to browse like recipe books, aprons, and thoughtful items for kids. Nothing feels like filler. It all adds to how warm and homey the space feels for locals and visitors alike. And then there's the dessert area, which deserves its own mention. There's an entire cake station behind a large glass case filled with massive, handmade-from-scratch cakes. You can grab slices, order whole cakes in advance, and even place special holiday dessert orders. It's decadent, impressive, and very hard to walk past without stopping. Even when it's incredibly busy, the team is friendly, efficient, and well organized. Whether dining inside, outside, or picking up food to go, the experience is always smooth and welcoming. Included are a few photos from the first time we ate there in person outside, though we've been back many times since. Shown here are the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll and the roasted chicken with green beans and rosemary roasted potatoes for reference.

4.5 The new year is…read moreas good as time as ever to try a new (to you/me) restaurant in an unvisited (by me/you) part of the midstate. Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.
