I have a lot of mixed feelings about Cheddars, so trying to put a single theme into words is tricky. They have come a long way, into opinion. When this first store opened, I had several bad experiences with wait times and not loving the food, and I vowed to quit going there. After a couple years though, I revisited with a work group and had a pretty good experience. The food choices have changed a bit and I really enjoyed the Maple Bacon Chicken Sandwich. I used to love coming here for dates with my boyfriend, but as the years have gone by the service has gotten slower and slower. Now along with the slow service there is a constant high pitched squealing in the restaurant. I think it's coming from the unusual fan in the central dining area. Let's start out with the atmosphere. Basically the only reason this place received a star. That and the fact yelp won't allow you to give them less. All cheddars are designed the same way. It's a pleasant atmosphere with a mix of brick and dark wood throughout the establishment. As soon as you sit down you're greeted with a sudden burst of cold air as they crank the air conditioning as if they are trying to freeze Russian vodka. I'm not sure if it was just the time of day. I happened to visit late at night so I can't say whether or not it's the same. After sitting down in the bar we waited about 10-15 mins before being greeted by a server. Bartenders looked right at us several time. Servers were interested in their friends who were visiting during this late hour. Continued to view the menus that were sticky and covered with old food. Finally we were taken care of by the bartenders. Fast forward to the food. I ordered the jalapeño burger with red beans and rice. The presentation was alright. Nothing special or unique. The burger tasted a little dry and the tomatoes were green and must of been the last slices as they were the ends. Not only that but brown ends. So I usually would say it's a pretty decent place to eat . This past time though.. my usual salad and pot pie fell SUPER short . First of all the salad itself was droopy and tasted like it was old . Second of all after getting half way done with my salad because I was hungry I had pushed it to the middle of the table to clear the room for my entree and my friend had noticed something in the salad, there was a lady bug tossed in and dead. The menu at Cheddar's is the same at every location. This one is no different. The difference here is the service. This location has HORRIBLE service. We are in town to visit family for Thanksgiving. Our party of six decided to eat out while Black Friday shopping. This franchise is well known to us so 'why not?' Why not? 1. Rude, condescending waitress. When drinks were brought out they were all set on table...which is water? which is Sprite? She actually said: "Well, one of them is water and the other is sprite." So...taste test??? Several other instances (arguing with a guest about something on menu, ignoring a guest when guest tried to discretely tell her guest's order was delivered incorrect, etc). 2. Long wait time for food. Folks were seated next to us after us. Same waitress. The other table ordered right after we did. Their food was served before ours. Ours arrived cold. 3. Not all meals were served at the same time. One person at our table ordered her meal from the appetizer menu. All meals came out 15 minutes before hers did. Great! (if you stay away from peak hours and order the right items) This place deserves to be commended. I read all of the other reviews, and didn't see one complaint about quality. I did see some that were for service & seasoning which is to be expected at certain times of the day from this location. Cheddars will take a hit once in while on the reviews because they are so busy. One thing is for sure, if they weren't good it wouldn't always be packed. Any place that stays packed is going to suffer from attrition. The cooks & staff must be exhausted. Compared to other places in MWC they well deserve a 5 star rating, especially because of the Quality, Cleanliness, Consistency, and Affordable Prices. I'm a loyal fan, and I'm smart about what times I'm eating there too. I like to go during off-peak hours, late afternoons are my favorite time to go and have a nice comfortable meal. I always get good service during this time. Here are my favorites: Homemade Onion Rings - they always come fresh and hot with yummy dipping sauces, my favorite is the chipotle sauce. Side Salad - always fresh ingredients, with good choices on dressing minus 1. -- Stay Away from the New Honey Lime Dressing! It isn't good! -- Crispy Chicken Salad - is always fresh salad greens with cheese, tomatoes, and carrots, and I love the Honey Mustard dressing. Comes with a croissant that is "melt-in-your-mouth" good! Baked Spasagna - this is a simple creative dish, that doesn't look like much, but take home the leftovers because you will be craving it again later. I have gouged down on some of these leftovers. Cornmeal Catfish - a big plate of some good catfish with 2 sides, good stuff! BEST ITEM ON THE MENU: Napa Chicken Ciabatta - grilled chicken breast (perfectly seasoned), roasted tomatoes, fontina cheese, avocado, roasted garlic aioli, on warm ciabatta bread - YUM! I usually get the Coleslaw side or Corn on the Cob because I've been eating the onion rings before this sandwich comes. Not so good stuff: Vegetable Plate - for the vegetarians, this a good quality set of veggies, but it is bland, not seasoned very well. Add plenty of salt & pepper. Cheddar's used to be a 5 star service every time we went in. Since COVID things have gone extremely downhill. We frequent this location fairly regularly. I think this falls on management as our waitress informed us she has split tables across the entire building. Hair in ranch, food served cold and over cooked from being warmed. Manager even came to speak with us, took the drink to refill and never returned the drink. We were there probably another hour and asked multiple times for the drink or a refill, left the other person without any refills and no drink until the end when we were offered a to-go cup. Rarely saw our waitress but she was apologetic. We were there almost 2.5 hours. 30+ min just to get drinks and appetizers together. 30 minutes for a drink. I got to enjoy one whole drink until it was taken away and never returned until the to go. We saw people who arrived after us leave before us. The waitress mixed up my order with a table across from us after I kind of argued with her that's not what I ordered. Very, very, frustrating experience. Based off of this particular service I would not recommend cheddars which breaks my heart because it's one of my favorites to go to. Bland food, undercooked or overcooked from the warmers, one drink for both people over a 2 hour visit. Do not recommend. I will not be placing any more to go orders either. Last time I stopped by this place, it was just for a couple of beers and an appetizer. The restaurant was kind of busy, and it looked like the bartender was helping out the kitchen. This made service at the bar pretty slow. So, what should have been a relatively short visit was extended out a little bit. Finally, I decided to just order a real meal instead of an app. I finally got my order in and started watching the confusion of the rest of the staff. This is based on my experience for take out. I ordered the combo meals. Steak with half rack ribs and the hubby ordered steak with shrimp. So the order took longer than it should've due to ribs not being cooking on time/ they didn't know if they had any ribs left. The cashier was very apologetic and would keep me updated on what's going on. Then the chef personally came out with my order and for my inconvenient wait he gave me a bigger steak! The food was delicious even from the drive home. I definitely will come back and dine in next time. Absolutely loved the Cheddar's in Tulsa. I was accustomed to great service and great food. My recent experience in Midwest City was sad to say the least. My waitress appeared tired and spread thin, but I was reasonable and understanding. Not a big deal if the food was on point. The spinach dip wasn't tasty and was luke warm. The sprite tasted like carbonated water. My club sandwich was less than mediocre. My fries were no where close to being hot or fresh. The broccoli was overcooked and mushy like mashed potatoes. The only way I will go back here is if someone insists on going and paying for me. I will try to persuade that person to go to another restaurant. I want to chalk it up to having a bad day, but so many things were wrong that it's hard to believe this isn't a daily issue. read more

We really wanted to like this place, but just can't go back. The food and service is just too inconsistent. Last night my wife and I both order steamed broccoli and it was really too under steamed to eat and cold. The baked potato was a little underdone and the steak was tough. Favorite restaurant!! My soon to be husband and I have gone here for years now for some anniversaries, birthdays, many special occasions. Always great food. Love their menu options! Everything I've had is delicious. Including alcoholic beverages!! All good amounts for a fair price! And OMG, the best part is the side salad with the melt in your mouth honey butter croissant! It was my first time here and it was all kind of an interesting experience. First, the staff was awesome. Super friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant was clean and seemed to be kept updated. The menu was a little odd because they offered a full rack of ribs for under $16 but they also offer lasagna for $10. I've never heard of this restaurant until recently. The restaurant is located as a stand alone facility with tremendous amount of parking spaces all around it. The staff is friendly and there isn't a lot of wait time even when it's during peak hours. There is plenty of customers in the restaurant. The dining room staff are friendly and pretty knowledgeable about their menu unlike some places in OKC. I tried the Ultimate Lunch Combo and picked the Buffalo Chicken Wrapper with a side of bake potato. It's just enough food to fill you up. My wife and I went to cheddars tonight and the wait was reasonable, only about 10 minutes. Our server (Madisen) was at the table taking our drink orders before I had time to warm the seat. My wife had the spasagna and I had a sirloin with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The problem with our dinner was that it was so good it was difficult to not overeat! Our server was friendly and pretty attentive, checking with us a number of times on food flavor and for drink refills. I ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp with steamed broccoli and southern style green beans (they were out of red beans & rice today). Though the broccoli and green beans were slightly overcooked, all of my meal was still quite tasty. The shrimp and chicken were great and very good seasoning. Overall Cheddar's is a pretty good place to have a meal, especially around lunch time provided you get there early enough. Cheddar's in Midwest city is about as average as you can get. Don't get me wrong some times average is what pleases the crowd, and there were a bunch of us. The service was better than usual tonight but the food quality was as predictable as the sun rise. Several members of our party ordered the chicken pot pie which got good marks for taste and portion size. I ordered the beer battered fried shrimp. Just ho hum. The fries that came with it were less than average. The one drink ordered was a frozen margarita and the comment on it was I should have had the tea. The first word that comes to mind when my daughter suggests we eat at Cheddars is "dirty." The place is always a mess. The first time we tried it, I picked it up and took it home so I didn't take the time to look around the place. However, we enjoyed the food so much (not the edamame, it was a soggy mess) that we stopped in one day with the whole family and sat in a booth by the bar. The crumbs on the seat and table, dirty silverware, and something on the cloth seat behind my daughter's head distracted me too much to enjoy the food. I thought perhaps it was just because it was a Sunday morning... and we were by the bar...wrong. We ate there last Saturday after spending the day at the zoo. My daughter's menu was covered in something I hope was a big glob of dried rice. We had to ask for another menu so that she could see the list. It was gross! I had to wipe off the seat before I could sit down and then go wash my hands before the food came, and there were crumbs all over the table. The Asian salad is my daughter's favorite so she wants to eat there, but the place grosses me out...it makes me wonder what the kitchen must be like... On the upside, they make a decent cajun pasta (minus the chicken and sausage) and the salmon, while a little over cooked, was flavorful and good. The shepherd's pie...well...I can make something better at home. The management is great with food allergies and oversees the preparation of the food, which is a plus. If you don't mind eating a meal while sitting in someone else's dirt, you will probably like this restaurant. But, if you're grossed out at the sight of the mess from diners before you, I'd suggest you get the take out...that's what we do. read more

Would not recommend anyone to go here. Our food was cold and you could tell the cheese had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time because it had turned into a gel like substance. My chicken was light pink in a uncooked raw way. Our waitress was sweet but never came to refill our drinks the whole time even after asking. Super disappointed. We used to go to cheddars in Brandon, FL and have also tried the one in norman, OK. We drove 30 minutes to come to one, we love their loaded nachos with chicken. The nachos came out, and they looked delicious, arranged nicely, full chips, minus the jalapenos (which is what we had requested)- only problem, they were beef. I told the girl who brought them to the table that they were supposed to be chicken, she seemed slightly irritated and went to check with our waiter. He came over, apologized and said new ones would be out. Hah. What they gave us was ridiculous. $9 for broken chips and toppings just dropped on them, jalapenos included. Obviously someone in the kitchen got upset and thought it would be pretty nifty to take it out on the customer. Awesome. The rest of our food was okay, but really it just left a bad taste in our mouth. We won't be returning. We'll drive an extra 20 mins to go to the Norman location and take our chances there.
