Cheddar's is a great place when you're looking for something inexpensive, yet still tasty. I absolutely love their Santa Fe Spinach Dip. The only thing that I would change about them, is the service. Went there on a Friday right before 12 for lunch. It was just a party of two. The hostess barely smiled at us but sat us promptly. When we sat down, it took almost 10 minutes for us to get greeted by our waitress. It took another 20 minutes to get our food. When we did get our food, the waitress not once checked up on us. When we were finished with our meal, we stacked up our plates for someone to pick them up. It took about another 10 minutes for the bus boy to pick up our plates. The steak was dry, the broccoli was cold. The 1 star was definitely because of my Texas tea drink!!! When I arrived, I had to wait 20 minutes. No problem if when I was finally seated food wasn't sticking to the bottom of my shoe! This place was delicious. Not only was the food inexpensive but they were very generous with the servings. One plate was enough for two. My only complaint would have to be the room temperature. I mean I know it's hot in Texas but I'd like to enjoy my food without shivering. read more

So I decided to take my family to lunch yesterday we arrived at around 12:30 we place order, we didn't receive our plates until about 1:50. I look down at my plate and I see a hair in between the gravy, I tell the server and he brings his manager who just takes the plate away. Then while my sister is eating she finds a hair at that's point we are all disgusted. we only stayed since the kids were starving since they had already taken a long time. On top of all the manager Dominique was very rude no type of customer service, made it seem like we were the ones who put the hair in the food.. We used to really like Cheddars, but hadn't been to this location in about a year. Sat right away. Took drink orders, but my bar drink must have been forgotten. Waiter " checked". Took total of about 20 minutes to get my drink. Fav has always been the chicken fried chicken ( they might call it country now). My husband's came out fine. My wife and I just got back from 12 days in Katy. Cheddars is our favorite restaurant in the area. Everything is always wonderful and couldn't be better. Sometimes there is a wait, but that is a good thing as that signals "good food".We ate there several times and loved every minute of it. We come to Houston several times a year from Florida and Cheddars is on my list of "to dos" We have good Cheddars in Florida and I love them also. We travel to Erie, PA each year and we eat at Cheddars several times while there also. read more

Went to Cheddars tonight, February 17th, business was slow as it was a Sunday. A buddy and I sat at the bar stools and waited at least 25 minutes before being approached by anyone. Finally after talking to the manager, he stated that a waitress would be assigned to us and no one was assigned to that section tonight?!?! In that 25 minute span that we waited, multiple waiters and waitresses walked by us as no one wanted to take initiative and take on another table. Are waitress finally came and took our drink orders which took 15 minutes to get to us ???? My buddy ordered a Stella Artois that never came, instead we had to get it from the bartender. I then asked the Waitress, in the most empathetic way,the reason for such poor service?? She never responded, but instead stared at us blankly as if she had seen a ghost (weird af). As I asked again she never answered. Finally I looked at my buddy and said we would not be eating here the slappy manager came over and took our menus as if he was telling us F off, 5 min later he reappeared and asked if we knew what we wanted after he dumbly took our menus away. Bottom line, this place has gone downhill and the manager and employees are a bunch of idiots that want easy tip money without work. Normally have great service, but it seems tonight is not a normal night. Slow service and food was considerably less portioned. When we did get our plates, items were missing from them. When we asked for the items, we ended up basically finishing the plate before they showed up. Just not up to par tonight. Asked for the manager and they never showed up. Let me start by saying Cheddar's is one of the best restraunts I have ever been to. The prices are amazing! And that's a plus in my book, because me and my family are always looking for good places to go that also don't cost too much... but then again how much does price matter if the for is not good.. Well you will not be dissappointed at Cheedar's! Their food will leave you satisfied.. unlike other restruants, when you have to pay thirteen dollars for a plate of food and it does not even leave you satisfied. And the service is amazing. you will not have to worry about having to get the waitors attention because they always come at the right time. And they are absolutely pleased to serve. Also at most Cheddar's there isn't a long wait to sit down, unless you come on friday nights, and even then its not lond. Trust me when i say this.. ITS WORTH THE WAIT! read more

They are always prompt...even when we're told it'll be 20 minutes until we are seated, it's always much faster. We've never waited more than 10 minutes. The portions are great. Let me start by saying that I am a huge Cheddars fan. The food is usually top notch, cheap, amazing drinks and great service: HOWEVER, this Cheddars location single handily destroyed my respect for the franchise. We stopped in today at 2pm, when then place was half empty, was provided limited seating options because all (and I mean ALL) of the empty tables we still dirty and not bussed. Once seated, we waiting for 20 minutes for someone, anyone to come and take our drink order, food order, make sure we weren't dead - something, and yet no one ever showed. Instead they (at least eight of them) gathered like a bunch of gossiping schoolgirls at the register on the backside of the bar area. We watch one or two of them go to the few customers in there and check on tablets, passing us by and never stopping. Once I flagged down one of the waiters and asked if we could be waited on he gave me a go-to-h*** look and said "fine",. After another five minutes of watching him and everyone else sitting in the corner ignoring us, we walked out. Hands down the worst service ever. This Cheddars lost a customer permanently and I will be sure to share this experience with everyone I know. So sad this is how they run things there, hope they can get their head out of there - well you know where. read more

We went here on a Sunday evening for my daughter's graduation dinner. They weren't overly crowded but the service was horrible. Considering that it was a graduation weekend for several people, they should have planned staffing better. We waited 30 min to sit. It took 20 minutes just to get drinks and almost 45 minutes to get our food. Once we got our food, we had to wait almost another 10 min to get silverware that we asked our waitress for twice before the food came. She blamed the hostess for not providing us with silverware when we were seated but that did not solve the issue until she brought us some. They were also out of ribs which she stated happens everyday around 7. I'm don't understand why management wouldn't order more if that's a continuous problem since that is the most popular dish. The waitress also shared how unorganized the kitchen staff is which in my opinion is not good customer service by blaming and degrading your teammates in front of paying customers. So I've eaten at Cheddars in 3 cities. Each time I think "the food is great when it's done right...but the service, ugh". So while I'm in Houston for a wedding I figure hey, it's been a year, let's try it again. Nothing has changed. The restaurant wasn't that clean. We get seated and it's 10 minutes until we get greeted. Ask for unsweetened tea, get sweet tea. Nice waiter, just not trained properly, an apparent trademark of Cheddars. 20-25 min later here comes PART of our food meaning two out of three got part of the food, one got nada. The runner had no interest in getting it either. Flagged down our server and another 5 min later here comes the rest of the food. Had soup, potato and chicken sandwich among us three. Food was good. Ask for the check when I see the server. He walks by and sees my credit card out and says "oh yeah!" THEN brings the check. It's really unfortunate because If their service was HALFWAY decent they could own any market they are in because their food can be really good!! But they just totally SUCK at service from my experience. read more

So when we came into the restaurant at 10pm we understood we only had an hour before they closed. Our waiter, whose name I do not remember because he was absent most of the night full out lied to us about food and the kitchen. One of our guest who ordered her food 1st ended up getting her food last and it was wrong. When we asked about fixing it we were told it the kitchen had closed and the food had been thrown away. So not only did we sit for 45 mins with no food and no attention from the waiter but she ended up not having food to eat at all. When the manage came to the table he confirmed the lie that the waiter told us, was in fact, a lie. The manager did his part to attempt to fix the situation by offering Spinach dip. It's sad when all the guest have to get an apology from the wait staff. We heard the table behind us getting an apology from their server. The customer service has got to get better. It doesn't matter if the guest comes in an hr before closing, if you can't give good service, Do not let them in!!! read more

We were in town for work and stayed at The Hyatt Place (which was fabulous), and just wanted a quick bite to eat someplace close. My husband ran out because I was exhausted. 1 hour and 20 minutes later he was back with our to go order. It had been sitting on the counter for about 1 hour while he sat at the bar drinking water. The person handling to go orders never bothered to check on our order and after table after table ate a full meal and left my husband said can you please check on our order? My husband asked to speak with a manager he said they were busy. This was the absolute worst experience! To top it off he wouldn't even submit the order again so I could eat a hot quesadilla. He didn't include any to go cutlery and forgot the salad dressing. If you are thinking about eating here don't. We didn't even get and "I'm sorry." We were told, "This is the way it is on Friday." I absolutely LOVE Cheddar's menu, everything i've tried is amazing, especially the Key West Chicken and Shrimp...unfortunately I will never go back, because the 3 times I have been there I had the worst service I've ever had. My friend and I sat down at a bar table around 5pm on a Tuesday. There were waiters EVERYWHERE, walking past us, standing around talking by a computer, INCLUDING a manager...NO ONE spoke to us or made eye contact with us for 6 minutes...i know this because I called a friend when we arrived, and called her back when we left because we were going elsewhere. The first 2 times I went it was soon after they had opened, so I assumed the service was poor because all the staff was new....but they've been there atleast a year now and nothing has changed. I ordered carry-out from this location today since it's fairly close to my office. It seems like I order from there about every 9 months or so, with the time lapse due to a memory lapse. I ordered the vegetable plate... a salad (or soup) and 4 veggie sides, all for $7. Sounds healthy & cheap... how can you go wrong, you ask? What I forget is just how loaded with salt everything is! Thought we'd give Cheddar's of Katy a shot thinking that the staff would have had ample time to familiarize themselves on how to run a "new" restaurant... after all it's been about 6 months since they first opened. Well, hate to report that this place was quite disappointing to say the least. Arrived around 5:15 to avoid the dinner crowd, apparently everyone else were thinking along those lines cause we waited 35 minutes to be seated. Our server was clueless when someone in our party asked for dinner & specialty drink recommendations....that was disappointing. Anyway, finally ordered some appetizers and mixed drinks which took 25 minutes to receive. Well, if things weren't bad enough it took another 40 minutes (I kidd you not) to receive our entrees. The food itself was could be described as mediocre, warm, & served in child sized portions. At this point we had roughly invested almost 2 hours, and were all hungry so we opted to keep the dinners instead of sending them all back as we should have! So, all in all this place was terrible! I don't recommend it at all. Think I'll stick to the Cheddar's Houston's location. Hope Cheddar's GM reads this. read more

Cheddar sis Cheddars. Decent to good food at a good price. Our meal as always was ok. Service acceptable. Issue/warning here is about security. My car was broken into and a work bag stolen. This was around 7 pm. No security cameras filming the area my car was parked in. Spoke to manager, who apologized, offered to call police but with no camera and only a bag stolen and window broken I saw no point in further ruining my night by waiting for the police. The food here is nicely priced, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I went here for my cousin's birthday dinner and we were quickly sat at a booth. And we sat. And sat. And sat. Until 45 minutes later, a waitress shows up and says, "I just found out that you guys are my table. Do you want drinks?" We ordered drinks and got them maybe 15 minutes later. The food took another 20 minutes to come and it was NOT worth the wait. I ordered the Baja Chicken which was too spicy for my tongue. The menu didn't mention anything about "by the way, this plate will set your tongue on fire." In addition, our waitress wasn't very enthusiastic. I witnessed her fighting with the dishwasher twice. He was clearing some glasses off the table next to us and she said, very loudly, "I NEED HELP!" During the second incident, she told him, in front of us "I CAN'T DO EVERYTHING MYSELF!" There were about maybe 5-6 other guests sitting at the bar. There were 2 bartenders. When I came and sat myself at the bar it took 10 minutes for one of them to come greet me although they had already seen me. They kept checking up on everyone else and I was still sitting there trying to figure out if I was invisible or something. Finally one of them came to greet just to tell me "I'll be right with you." WTF??? He finally comes back 6-7 minutes later. I ordered a simple margarita and a spiked cherry limeade. It took him 10 minutes to make the drinks and deliver them to me. I was really thinking they would be good. NOT! WORST DRINKS I HAVE EVER HAD!! The margarita was flat out disgusting. No tequila. Taste like I took a sip of syrups and sugar. It was just horrible. The other drink SAME. I did not tast any bit of vodka in that drink. They were both so horrible and sweet that I couldn't even take a second sip. I then sat there waiting for someone to come back to I could tell them how horrible the drink was and to order an appetizer. I sat there for a good 15 minutes watching the bartenders running back and forth and checking on the 5 other people at the bar and giving them drinks AGAIN. HELLOOO DID I GO INVISIBLE again??! I had just had it!!! My friends and I got up and walked out I mean HORRIBLE SERVICE! Why would I want to drink something to disgusting and sit at a bar where I can even get one of the two to acknowledge that I am even there. We got up to walk out and as soon as we got up FINALLY one of them noticed!! A LITTLE TOO LATE!! As I'm walking towards my car the manager chases us out shouting "excuse me y'all didn't pay for your drinks!" I then expressed to her that I did not even drink what I ordered. How am I suppose to drink something so unpleasant. Why would I sit at a bar to get 0 service. She could've cared less and then expressed back to me that I needed to pay. If they tried their own drinks they would see how disgusting they are. they must be new or something. It was a white guy and a girl. I AM A BARTENDER. I know how drinks are supposed to taste and how they should be made as well as customer service!!! I ordered a chicken sandwich with a Caesar salad. My sandwhich came out barely warm, I was so hungry I still ate it. I mentioned that I ordered a Caesar salad to the guy who brought my food, he said "it will take longer because it's coming from the kitchen". So where did the sandwich come from? Our waiter didn't check on us until we were finished eating and ready for the checks. At that time I told him I never got my salad. Went there for my friends birthday. I usually like this Cheddars because I've never had any problems till today. We orders our drinks and appetizers at the same time. We got the drink and didn't get the appetizers till 45 minutes later. The table next to us had their appetizers way before us and we sat before them. When we finally did get them they were cold.... and the salad I order for my appetizer never came. Then another 45 minutes for the food we ordered came cold. On top of that only have of the order was brought and the other half must have got lost just like the salad. Also, we never received silver ware. We had to go to the hostess station to get our own even though we asked the waitress several times for silver ware. I'm assuming it was her first day or she just had too much going on that she forgot about us. We spoke to the manager and we ended up not paying for anything. Which I feel was fair.
