Stopped in for lunch with another couple while on a Route 66 Trip. Found very reasonable prices for lunch and appetizer trio specials. Our server was very helpful in addressing all of our questions. Our food arrived quickly and was all very well prepared. I had the Philly Cheese steak and my wife had the appetizer sampler from which I snatched most of her cheese curds (YUM). All of the food was very tasty, the breaded items were not overly breaded and were nice and crisp. Overall the restaurant was clean and welcoming. If we are ever in the area stop by again. One caution, don't touch the kiosk on the table other than to pay your bill. If you are just curious and touch the game button to see what is available, you are charged for games. I noted this to the server and she had the charge removed.

We stopped in on our family road trip. We were seated right away. We had Soloman and another gentleman as they were training. Both men were very nice and check our order right away, as well as brought everything out in a timely manner. We arrived at 9:15 and had eaten our appetizer and all entrées and we're walking out at 9:45. Super incredible service. The two gentlemen that we're our servers were behind nice and I highly recommend going in an asking for them when you come in! They were both patient and so kind to our crazy kids. I wish we had a Cheddars back home! We ordered Chicken and Shrimp - kids rated 10/10 Homemade pot pie - so delicious and full of flavor The potato soup was the best I've ever had! Perfect combination of not too thick but not too mushy/watered down. The butter croissants were so filling!

Great atmosphere, server was amazing, food was hot and fresh. Had the grilled salmon (bourbon-glazed), rice, and broccoli and it did not disappoint. Here visiting for work and will definitely come back when I'm in town again,

the 8oz salmon meal with the glaze - amazing!

Cheddar's is such a staple in Joplin! My family and I have been coming here since it opened years ago. I've lived on the east coast and now visit from my home in Los Angeles, and it's always such a treat to get to come here when I'm in Joplin! I wish this chain existed on the west coast! We don't have anything quite like it in the Los Angeles area at all. Their prices vs. food quality vs. portion sizes are unmatched! Last night, our dinner was only $48! That included 3 adult entrees, a frozen marg, and an app! Such a steal compared to the prices I'm used to in CA lol! Our go-to app all these years has always been the spinach dip. Served up hot and delish and always includes a side of salsa. The salsa is just blah, but the dip is so warm and flavorful. It maybe took us 3 min to finish this app haha. My sister loves their chicken pot pie. She got it with a "side" salad ... which was nearly the size of a lunch salad at any other restaurant! It wasn't just lettuce and dressing like most side salads. It even had eggs on it as a topping! I got the 8oz salmon. I chose to have it glazed. I could have also done blackened or grilled. It was cooked perfectly! I always worry ordering salmon from restaurants because they tend to overlook the fish and make it too dry but my salmon last night was perfect! It came with a choice of two sides, so I chose the steamed broccoli and sweet baby carrots. Both were perfect on their own without any salt or pepper. PS, my meal was only $13 for that huge size of salmon! Typical restaurants would charge well over $20 for this type of meal usually! My step-dad had the grilled shrimp that were on special. They came with the same glaze as my salmon did and he said they were extremely good. He got the same two sides as me. The complimentary croissants we got at the beginning were AWESOME! That drizzle you see in the pic was honey butter! My step dad was legit trying to steal my sister and I's leftover honey butter with a fork before we could get to it. Thank you to this restaurant for being awesome all these years!

Server If she said her name I missed it Ambiance It'd a casual dining comfort food restaurant Food Eh The grilled chicken was terrible. The queso was NOT good, chicken tenders were NOT tender. The only thing that tasted good was the fries. That's sad Overall If you're wanting good quality food, don't eat here. If you want bad service, worse food. This is the place for you. The redeeming quality was they comp'd my grilled chicken. (Why they got 2 instead of one star). The server claimed they were out of the croissants. Yet other tables were getting them. When confronted about this, oh they just came in.

I was pleasantly surprised! It thought it would be more expensive given the quality. It was well priced well made food with a great atmosphere. I'm going to add cheddars to my short list of good places to eat!

Cheddars is a pretty dependable spot. The quality of the experience feels like a big win considering the price. The food was mostly wonderful. The honey butter croissants were definitely something to write home about. Just melted in your mouth. And of course had to get the spinach dip again. The mashed potatoes weren't anything special and if I could go back would have gotten a salad instead of the veggie plate. Food is good but not life-changing. Service and restaurant quality Some good salads but does typify mostly buttery/greasy mix-western food if that's what you're looking for.

I used to love Cheddar's, still good but not as good. Building is a little tired and not always super clean.

To spite an over abundance of staff, service was slow and food was cold. We waited 15 minutes for the last of our entrees.

Iron Skillets are pretty common at truck stops, but this one really stood out for the service and consistency. Hot food, quick service, and our drinks were never empty. It's always such a nice break to sit down and enjoy a real meal instead of grabbing deli or fast food. The menu is familiar, the portions are solid, and everything came out fresh and fast. Great staff, great service, and a perfect spot to relax for a bit before getting back on the highway. We'll definitely be stopping again.

Quick Review: Overall 3 stars, because it's a chain,…read moredoesn't matter if it's a Denny's or an I-Hop, the food is pretty production line quality. If you've ever been to classic diners like the ones featured on Guy Fieri's such as Sam's #3 in Aurora Colorado (miss those days living out in the Rockies), then you know that special something when you sit down and all the locals come out and congregate for brunch...well didn't get that feel here. However, 5/5 stars to the chef. Let me explain. And don't get me wrong, the server was fantastic. The setting was in the retail section of the Joplin Petro Truck Stop, being a fairly dim but rather quiet corner. In all my years of trucking, on the road, whether it be at a Denny's in a truck stop, or a Black Bear diner, Waffle House, another Iron Skillet, or i-Hop, whenever I order medium rare on a steak, it would always end up on opposite ends of the spectrum-- either very well done OR bloodshot rare. So when my server brought me a true medium rare steak, there was this aura of sacredness to it. I simply didn't expect the chef was going to make it to that likeness...and he proved me wrong. It just shows, that there are still individuals on planet Earth that know how to grill up an everyday New York steak and not destroy it. , Thank you Jesus this art form is still alive and well. But of course going back to the quality and satisfaction levels of eating the food, I still want to stick to a 3. It's a truck stop, it's a chain, it tastes very manufactured production line quality. Like if you walked into any Flying J or Pilot, whatever they have in the hot food trays, it's on par with that. Basically the Caesars Salad, the Mashed Potatoes, but the steak was how a New York strip would taste but on the saltier side. Until next time, maybe I'll check out that other diner in Barstow CA on route 66

That personal connection aside, Crabby's delivers an experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. It does lean towards being a bit more expensive, but the quality of the food and the care in presentation make it worth the splurge. I ordered the gnocchi marsala with chicken, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Pillowy gnocchi paired with a rich, savory sauce that lingered beautifully. Mrs. K. chose the salmon pancetta, which arrived as a work of art on the plate, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. She enjoyed it very much, savoring each bite. And of course, we couldn't resist ending the evening with a crème brûlée: creamy, infused with vanilla, and topped with that satisfying caramelized crust that cracks just right under the spoon. Crabby's is the kind of place where you go not just to eat, but to celebrate, to linger, and to enjoy the finer side of dining in Joplin. It's polished without being pretentious. We had put our name on the online waitlist (which we love). We were seated immediately when we got to the restaurant. It took at least 10 minutes for someone to come over to our table to take our drink orders. We ordered our food, and at least 15 mins later the server came back to our table and said, "Oh yeah, I keep meaning to tell you we are out of our 12 oz prime rib." So my husband and I had to quickly order something else. I ordered the 6 oz filet medium rare, and my husband got the filet and ribs combo, also medium rare. We waited another 40 minutes for our food to come. Our 5 year old actually waited for it well, but my husband and I couldn't figure out what was taking so long. When we finally got our meal, our steaks were not medium rare. However, we did not send them back, because we had already been there an hour and we were hungry. My steak was more like medium well than medium rare. The steaks were not seasoned at all, so they were also bland. My sweet potato was not thoroughly cooked. Honestly, the saving grace was the rolls and the green beans. Luckily, we had a gift card, so we only ended up paying $6 and the tip. Our server was not overly friendly or helpful. We never got refills on our drinks, except my son, and it took at least 20 mins for her to bring it back to him once he asked for a refill. It was a fairly busy night, but we have been on nights that are busier and we've received better food and service. We were definitely disappointed because it was our anniversary, and we thought it would be nice to go to dinner as a family. Maybe we should have gone somewhere quieter anyway. Can't take it back now, but it may be awhile before we go back.
