When I come to cheddars I always get the sirloin, and I get that sometimes it's not always going to be cooked exactly how you want it but it's okay. (I lowkey still love outback's more) I'm not entirely a fan of chicken unless it's full of flavor and juicy, or maybe that just makes me a picky eater. But there's was okay. I have to learn to stop comparing everything to my Katy, Texas experiences when I go places that are of the same chain. Katy was growing so quickly, to whereas we were getting new and excited people trying to make a lasting impression, so they went the extra mile with service and seasoning (for the most part). With that in mind, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, with even a name change, is a place worth dining when you want value and portions to collide. This is a place where you can bring the entire family and there will be something for everyone to order. Children, and grownups as well, love the chicken tenders here. For sides, I often see the broccoli cheese casserole ordered and devoured. All in all, even items like steak and shrimp comes to you at a pretty decent charge and portion size. Many folks that are bread eater enthusiast will tell you to order the croissants and let the honey butter melt inside of your soul. With my new experiences at this chain outside of Katy, Texas, I have noticed service not as cheerful and food not as flavored, but I always seem to enjoy myself. Coming here is sometimes a circumstances dice games of craps because this chain is still popular no matter what location you visit. Sometimes you will find a seat right away, then other times you will have quite the wait! The last time I visited this particular location, I order their new item, blackened red fish with a crab sauce, and I am happy to report that dish is actually tasty. The rice that accompanied the dish was over cooked and bland, but the fish and cream sauce were enjoyable. We are from out of town and we decided to come here for dinner before going back home.weI waited around 10 or 15 mins after being seated to get someone to come to our table. Saw so many people walk by us before we got any drink orders taken. We ordered some waters that tasted horrible even after adding lemon to it. Reminded me of what dirty sink water smells like. It took a very unreasonable amount of time to get our food and our waitress was slow to check on us. When we got the food it was cold. Like it had been sitting for about 15 or 20 mins waiting to get to our table. We waited just as long to get our bill and pay so we could leave but they were so slow about that also. I really don't recommend coming here. If you do decide to come here the "Pain Killer" drink isn't as good as it looks. read more

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is a chain that reminds me of Applebees, Chili's, Friday's, etc. I'd put them a notch above though and they have affordable prices. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday evening. After being seated, it took our waitress a while to stop by but service picked up after that. I went with the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Plus gravy on both the chicken and the taters. Even at dinner, you have the option of choosing either the lunch portion or the dinner portion. I went with the dinner portion which was a looooot of food! Two large pieces of breaded chicken breast and a generous portion of mashed potatoes. The green beans were forgettable but the rest was good! Service sucked. I came to this Cheddars for a birthday dinner and arrived a little later than the bday party. When the waiter came to drop off their drinks, she passed me up and didn't even ask what I wanted to drink. I ended up ordering my piña colada with my grilled salmon which was way overcooked. The rest of my party had an array of issues: the salmon on someone else's plate was noticeably smaller than mine, they took forever to get bar drinks, one girl asked for chicken fried chicken and got chicken fried steak, apps came 5 minutes before the entree...the list goes on and on with my party of 10. If you asked for anything the slow waiter took 10 minutes to bring it. A dude sat there waiting to eat his steak because she was acting unbothered about getting A1 sauce. Food got cold. Well, this happened on Fathers Day (June 18, 2017). Management contacted me and advised someone would contact me. I responded and stated I would love to get clarification of their process which makes no sense. As of today, August 5, 2017, I have spoken to no one from Cheddars. This explains everything! I finally received a call from a manager about a month ago, and he attempted to clarify the store's reasoning. So, here it is! If you have more than 8 people in your party on the weekend, do not go to that location. They are not able to service over 8 people in a party during Friday thru Sunday. Now here is the kicker..Remember I mentioned my husband came in with a small softdrink? When the waiter gives us the bill, he says he is sorry about all the confusion and he gave us a discount. First thing first. My party arrived at 2:09pm Sunday, June 12. We got two tables of 10 because they said was an hour wait versus a two hour wait for 20!! Reservations was under Monica and Robert name. We received a text at 3:33pm that Monica table was ready. So when we sat we noticed several other tables were available. So therefore we asked or other party to sit at the adjacent tables. The other table never received a text saying their table was ready. Manager (chow) came and asked how many people was with the party. We explained we had a party of 20 guest but we reserved 2 tables. She told us we could not occupy the empty seats. But be mindful they had at least 7 additional tables untouched. Long story short the manager would not make any accommodations even though we reserved back to back. We just left and have no plans of going back!! To sum it up no matter how many seats are available Cheddar do not make accommodations to serve their customers. read more

Cheddar's (the nighttime edition) is waaaaaay to dark for me. All the Cheddar restaurants I have visited have never been so dark. When I first stepped in, I thought I was I a lounge or a club. The pallet of the walls is also dark, so dark and dark equals pitch black. I felt as if I would step on someone any minute. Since I was ordering to go, I was directed to the bar to order where a couple of TV screens were projecting some professional sports games. Works for me. I asked for a take-out menu and the young guy behind the counter quipped, "Well you can't take it with you, but here you go." If I had a thought bubble over my head it would have said this: ??????????? followed by WTF! Are you serving butter with that response because that was completely CORNY! Maybe my hunger was making me oversensitive, but the way he said it wasn't very warm and inviting--it was actually a little insulting to my intelligence. Some restaurants do have a takeout menus. If you do great, if not just give me a freakin' menu. I knew what I wanted, so I didn't have to deal with his egotistical shenanigans any longer than need be, but 10 minutes for a sandwich and fries and I'm sitting at the bar. Would have be nice if I was offered a glass of water. Parched, I decided to ask for some water, which another wait staffer politely gave to me. While waiting, I can honestly say I felt like I was at a sports bar, which is great if it's a sports bar, but it's supposed to be a family restaurant. Coming in, it felt like a lounge that I was too underdressed to enter into. You can't be everything to everybody. This Cheddar's needs to choose an identity and stick with it. As far as the food. Pretty stellar! I had been wanting a philly steak and fries for a week when I finally got to Cheddars. This was the only place that I knew that could deliver what I wanted. The steak was succulent, piled high on the French baguette. Gooey cheese dripping on the sides with the green peppers vibrantly presenting its desire to be devoured. I asked for no salt on the fries to make sure they were pretty fresh. They had a crunchy outside but pillowy interior of potato to suit my palette. In lamest terms, the meal rocked! However, I wouldn't dine here unless it was daytime and they had some light coming in. I'm way too clumsy to be in the place without enough lighting. read more
