Usually this restaurant is 5 stars all the time. BUT today management screwed up. How can they be out of these things at 6pm, ribs, Monte christo, and chicken pot pie...things you are known for. It took me a long time to visit Cheddar's but I finally made it. Hubby had the day off and I cherish any time we get to spend together. We were out and about trying to find the gun he wants, but it seems like everyone and their grandmother has armed up over the past year and everything is on back order and just like a baked potato ... who knows when the next shipment will come in?! Anyway, we were across the street becoming hungry and my love suggested we go to Cheddar's since we have never been. First off, the inside is aesthetically quite pleasing with a beautiful aquarium as part of the wall divider and the built-in brick style. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo Pasta and hubster went for a regular Burger (I can see a trend here; see previous review for Sunflower Eatery). The portion sizes are quite large so it was a good thing that I was hungry, but not even with a large appetite could I finish all of my pasta. It was creamy, the chicken breast was well cooked and served in long strips that had to be cut and plenty of penne pasta. All in all it was a good meal and thankfully he finished it for me as he still had room left. Husband felt that his burger was nothing special. We also ordered the Hot Fudge Cake Sundae for dessert. I love desserts, but this one did not strike me as special; I enjoyed the hot fudge the most, but the cake was not warm as we had hoped and in fact it was dry and only the ice cream helped get it down. I did have my eye on the Pain Killer drink, because it looked delicious, but I chose to refrain this time; now I think I may have missed my chance for quite some time as he is not excited about going back. One big negative was that once we tried to get up to leave we nearly couldn't. And I mean, physically could not get up, because our shoes were practically glued to their sticky floor! Ugh! It really does not take that much time to mop a floor with decent help. Who knows when it was last mopped, because I can't imagine it was in any recent time. Sad! I don't think I'd mind coming back when family is in town altogether and we need space for a larger party, but otherwise I think I'd stick to sitting at a high-top chair at the bar and try to swim out the door via their nice aquarium. For straight up American favorites made from scratch you can't beat Cheddars. Food is good and fresh. Prices are very reasonable. And the service is great. They really know how to keep things moving. Garbage employee Alert! There is a waitress by the name of ERIN!!!!!! She is the WORSE waitress ever! You can't be a server and have an attitude when that is your way of making money. We had a party of 30 & she had an attitude the ENTIRE TIME. It was so bad we had to request another server. Erin kept mumbling under her breath and conversing about us to other employees right in front of us. She doesn't not deserve to still have a job there. She should NOT be able to work with the public at all with the kind of attitude she has. The manger on duty (Gee) really wasn't that much help either throughout the whole situation. He didn't really seem to concerned with the situation. Side note** The hostess needs to look a little bit more presentable. She had a jacket on with the hood pulled up on her head. I called four days in advance and spoke with a manager by the name of Richard and he took my name and number and said that they could accommodate our party on Saturday. Once we arrived another manager was on duty and he told us that he could not accommodate us. If it wasn't for the whole party coming to Cheddar's for my daughters 11th bday dinner...we would have taken ourselves elsewhere, but it was too difficult to call everyone to change the plans. I always do takeout and every time I order curbside to go when I arrive I call for them to bring food out they never have anyone to bring the food and my order is NEVER correct! They are only occupying half capacity seriously if u offer the service make sure u can provide it, there is always rolls or last time it was order of chips and queso missing!!! It took about 10 minutes for our server to even greet us. She didn't bring us silverware until we asked for it after our entrees had been brought out, same thing with the table beside us. They brought us the wrong appetizer, put it down in front of us, then fixed it and handed the wrong appetizer to the right table after it had sat on our table, we didn't touch it, but still gross. I ordered a medium steak and it came out pretty much rare. I couldn't eat most of it, and what I could eat was covered in fat. Chicken tenders almost tasted like McDonald's nuggets. Then got seated and placed our order and asked for an appetizer but received the salad before the appetizer we ordered. Then we ordered simple steaks a 6oz sirloin and 16oz ribeye with loaded baked potatoes only to find loaded means with cheese. Then the sirloin was ordered medium and ribeye medium, well the sirloin was overcooked and the ribeye undercooked. Then the waiter had the audacity to say he was going to remove 25% after the sirlion was sent back and just asked to be removed. I went with a female friend the other night, we were seated at 9pm, and we waited for our waitress. My friend went to the restroom which was a mess and barely had any soap while I was going to order drinks. Our waitress took awhile to come to the table then repeatedly referred to my friend as "him" and I had to repeatedly tell her that she's a female. For those of you wondering no she is not trans nor is she masculine looking. I ordered our drinks and asked for no ice. I also tried to order the spinach dip but they were out. Once my friend came back I went to the restroom and our waitress brought our drinks and mine had ice in it. She checked my friends ID for her alcoholic drink and fixed the ice in mine after my friend reminded her. A hostess nearby asked how we were and we asked her to check on the drink from the bar but she didn't. When our waitress came back to take our order we ordered and my friend ordered dessert at the same time. The waitress said she would put it in later so it would be fresh for us and she never did. We also asked her about the alcoholic drink at which point she asked to see my friend's ID again and said she would go put it in the computer. She brought me a refill which had ice and plastic from the soda machine in it. My friend finally got her drink at 10:15 after our food had already been brought to the table. Once we got our food my steak was so rare I didn't eat it, and the potato was not done enough. As far as the shrimp goes I didn't know what to expect since there is no description of it on the menu other than "grilled shrimp." After she brought out the sauce we asked for she never came back. She didn't bring refills, boxes, the dessert, or check up on us. I got up and got a box myself. This place is reasonably priced. And other than the frequent wrong or messed up order, the food is acceptable. I am actually quite partial to the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. However, the food has never been my problem. My problem from day 2 has always been the service. Every visit (except for my very first) has been less than stellar... Far less. But this most recent visit ticked me off. It began when the hostess sat us. I almost felt bad because I was intruding upon her personal time. Why did I think this? Because when she sat us, she was in the middle of a conversation with the other hostesses. When I handed over my signaling device, I had to wait for them to finish and decide which would have the displeasure of seating us. When we arrived at our table, she threw the menus and silverware on the table at the same time that she was turning to walk away. She did at least say, "Enjoy" between chews of her smacking gum. It took nearly 10 minutes for the waiter to take our drink order. 10 more minutes before he brought our drinks. Then another 25 minutes before we received our food. The drinks were only refilled when I physically searched out the waiter to have him refill, or just walked to the bar and had them do it. You may ask, "if I don't like this restaurant, then why do I keep coming back?" Not my choice. Sometimes, it's with a group of friends. Sometimes it's an insistent family gathering, or my wife is having a Grown-Up Grilled Cheese craving. While I'm here I typically only observe. I stopped trying to have an enjoyable meal at this place long ago. I'm sure you wonder why I said "Day 2". To briefly explain. It was within the first week the restaurant was open. We had a very good waitress and the food was very good. But ever subsequent visit has been incrementally worse. If service is one of your peeve list bullet points, then you will definitely want to steer clear of this place. But if you don't care if the service is God-Awful then try it out. Went on a Sunday evening with a buddy as things were heating up with the post-church dinner crowd. It was crowded to the point of almost not being able to find parking. As I walked in, I saw quite a few people waiting to be seated. I was afraid we were going to have to wait a bit to get crackin', but the hostess sat us right down and we were off. Even with the excessive crowding, we had drinks within 5 minutes of sitting. Our server was friendly and attentive, and I watched some of the other tables who seem to be equally cared for. I got a steak (ribeye), and it was GOOD. Ordered medium, it came out medium (unheard of right?). I would put this steak up against any other one I've gotten in Greenville from a typical steak "chain." Potato was good, broccoli was...well, broccoli. My buddy got the chicken tenders. They were hand battered, huge, and reportedly delicious. I liked the decor as well, including the large fan system in the main dining area, the stained wood walls, and the large fish tank. Overall, I was VERY pleased with my inaugural voyage to Cheddar's. Great staff, great food, great place. I will be visiting again very soon. read more

Awful. Tuesday night and there was an hour wait. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday and our server Kendra was absolutely awful. We waited forever to put our dinner order in. We made the assumption that since it is a corporate restaurant that there would be adequately trained servers who were familiar with the menu. We asked what she could recommend and her response was "everything". When we asked her specifically what she likes her response this time was "well I've never eaten anything on the menu". STRIKE ONE Our appetizers come out and the onion rings were ICE COLD. No server in sight to ask for a new one. We had to flag a server from another section down to return the onion rings. Dinner arrived cold as well. Again, no server in sight. Empty water glasses - server never came by to check on us. STRIKE TWO. We asked for a manager who seemed to have a scripted response. It seems that there have been several complaints that they are now used to people complaining. We had two choices - have the food remade which would mean we would probably have to wait another hour (seeing as everything else was taking forever) or have it taken off our check and we could go. Great options. Not. The sad thing is that the food tasted pretty good but the temperature was off - the service was awful. There was no excuse for the food being cold - both the appetizers and main course? I was extremely embarrassed that we went to celebrate a good friend's birthday and it turned out so awful. The last straw for me was when I asked for the bill. The server finally made an appearance only to give us the biggest attitude. She LOUDLY argued with me in front of other guests that "it's not my fault the food took forever! I am running two six-tops!!!" She pointed her finger at me and poked my breast. She claimed to have seven years serving experience. Anyone with service experience knows that two six tops seated right next to each other is CAKE. They need to get their act together. Get some professional service staff that know how to handle things. At least pacify customers if the food is taking a long time. I am surprised that Cheddars corporate didn't have managers from other locations help "open" the store and get them moving with good service. The true test of a restaurant is how they handle the Friday night rush. Cheddar's failed. Drinks were not only slow, the second set never made it out. I had to ask the server the problem. Apparently they ran out of mix and the bar was short staffed. These things are forgivable if communicated and apologized for by management. I don't HAVE to have a discount. I can understand a rough night. However, when I have to inquire and no management can be seen coming forth to offer an apology, I get a bit irritated. Won't be coming back. I was referred to this establishment by a fellow coworker. Upon walking in the atmosphere is very comfortable and the staff was friendly. Took about 5 minutes for the server to get to our table and place our drink orders which wasn't bad. We got them very quick and I was pleased. But this is where the trip turned sour. I ordered the 14oz ribeye steak which I wanted medium rare. When the steak came out I didn't even think to check the way they cooked it I took my first bit and realized it was extra rare. They ended up cooking me a new steak but nothing was taken off my bill. about a hour after leaving the establishment I had gotten the worst stomach ache I have ever had. Over 12 hours later I am still dealing with the stomach ache. I do not ever plan on returning nor would I recommend anyone go here. I had high hopes and was let down. read more

I just visited this location and waited 15 minutes at the table to be greeted by a server. After no one provided service, I and my party decided to leave. On the way out the door, an associate said "have a great night" after just seeing us come in. Why would they think I would have a great night after wasting 15 minutes not being served? Mind you, she just walked by our table and made eye contact with me while I was waiting. Additionally, another associate said "step to the left or you'll slip on the cheese." Mind you, this cheese was on the ground when I walked in (directly in front of the door). It would make sense that the associates would clean the cheese to prevent a slip and fall, but maybe I'm over thinking this whole interaction. Kelsay and her two sisters visited Cheddar's while in Greenville. One thing about his menu-there's something for everyone! We went for a classic meal- the chicken tenders and fries (one original, one with hot honey sauce) and a club sandwich. We also tried the queso dip and salsa. We were impressed by the serving size of food we were given for the price! The majority of items in this menu are $13 or less which is a steal and the service we received was great.
