I travel frequently and get tired of the same old chains when looking for a place to eat dinner. Green Tomato Buffet is a great change from all of those places. They have a big variety of different mains and sides along with a salad bar and desserts. In the 3 times I've visited the staff has been incredibly friendly and the 2 servers (Jennetta and John) acted as if I was family. One surprise was the mac-n-cheese which was made like I do (not out of a box or or with canned cheese). It was really good! This isn't the Taj Mahal, it is a buffet in a strip mall with great service and a low price. I would choose this any day over Golden Corral or the local Chinese buffet. Been a loyal customer for over 10 years. Have experience good food and wonderful respectful service despite the several turnovers with owners. Unfortunately this new owner charged me almost $170 for what should have been 50 servings of soup for a small gathering. Well after been shorted 20 portions the owner was very condescending towards me and stated he did me a favor by taking the order. He went on to accuse me of trying to get free money for my church and called the police. He also threatened to contact my supervisor. Keep in mind after he inconvenienced me. Owner is definitely going to be the cause of what's been a great neighborhood restaurant and catering service down fall. My wife had just lost her dad, we were traveling on a day would have usually had a family reunion (Easter), and my wife was longing for the foods she would have had at that reunion. We woke up and randomly found this place. My wife cried and felt like she was home again. The people were amazing, and the food is real, down home, country made food. Wow, what a find. Found it by accident just browsing Yelp. We aren't from these parts but wish we were. There are too many foods to list on the buffet but I really enjoyed everything I ate. I tried to get a sample of at least 2 plates full. Then desert was great too. The service was on point too. Dinning room is just like your normal buffet type . However, this one has live music which a guy was playing a jazz guitar and tearing it up. What a cool thing to have. We are seniors and received a discount. Great service, hot and fresh food. However during busy times they run out of items and don't have proper backup..had to wait 20 minutes for fried chicken, worth the wait? Yes..hot, juicy and delicious. But they were also low or out of other "meats". Great salad bar with numerous choices, same with dessert choices. I love fried green tomatoes, it's actually the only way I eat tomatoes, but disappointed with theirs, very greasy and no sauce provided. This is my 3rd or 4th visit... There will be a 5th. This place was a very good buffet I went with my family. Very reasonable price. They had a good selection of food including a very large salad bar. Some of the food that they have was Baked spaghetti, Sweet potato casserole, Cooked carrots, Collar greens, Mashed potatoes, Meatloaf, Lima beans, Cook green beans, Squash, Homemade rolls and cornbread, A large variety of dessert pies, Baked chicken, Fried chicken, Mac and cheese, Chilli, Cantaloupe, Peaches, Pineapple, Brownies, Is there menu changes depending on the day best thing to do is to check online first see what they have for that day. The only small issue I had was when they give you a gave plastic glove to go up to the salad bar when you pay that is that is the only plastic glove you have to use so you have to keep using it. I would suggest that each time you go up they would have a station where you can get a new one So you don't contaminate it when you take it off and reuse it. Best buffet we have ever had and best of all, it's Real Southern Food! We went on Sunday at 1pm and although it was packed the flow was fast. Our server was friendly and we thought the food was excellent. Between us we tried it all. The mashed potatoes were real, the beef tips in gravy were tender and flavorful, and the Butter Coconut pie was amazing! This is real, homemade food that tastes like Sunday dinner. They have several vegetables to choose from, glazed carrots, steamed cabbage, green beans, macaroni and cheese, rutabagas and of course fried green tomatoes, just to name a few. I used to love eating at Green Tomato, one of my favorite places. I hadn't eaten there since covid & some other reasons. I had some friend here from Florida & took them there this week. Everything has changed. The cashier didn't give us the Sr. discount, I asked why & she said you have to ask for it. They used to give it automatically. The food was not as good as it used to be & it was barley lukewarm, which really ruined it. Who wants cold food! The place used to be packed at lunch, I noticed there weren't that many people in there. I guess lots of other former fans had the same experience as we did. The restaurant itself is lined with booth seating along the side walls with tables and chairs flanking the food bar in the middle.
