I ordered the steak and tenders! Steak was great but tenders were pink and smelled like they were freezer burnt. The food here is outstanding! It is probably my top favorite place to eat in town. Unfortunately, the service is horrible. Almost to the point that I've quit eating there and I discourage friends from doing the same. If I've eaten Cheddar's 10 times, I've had 9 bad services related experiences and 1 good one. If you call in an order (assuming somebody answers the phone), without fail, something won't be included (sauce, napkins, etc.), if you dine in, you'll probably wait an hour for your food even when it isn't busy. I've worked in several restaurants before, and this, by far, is less organized than any I've worked at. And I worked in some rough ones. we came in may 7th around 3 o'clock. it took about 20 for anyone to come to our table. it took even longer to get our drink orders. we had crystol as our server, and she didn't start off with "hi, how are you guys" or "my name is crystol", she started off with "listen guys, i really want to leave and i hope you guys are my last table". she took our orders, then rolled her eyes when the 6 year old at the table wanted to order his own food, because he didn't immediately answer when she asked what side he wanted. we had ordered an appetizer that never came out, she never refilled drinks until all of our cups were empty and we had to ask, to which she replied, "yes.... *sigh* you CAN get refills. what do y'all want, 5 sweet teas? yeah fine." none of us actually had sweet tea, but that's what we got after about 15 minutes. the food was okay, the people who brought it out were super sweet, but crystol was very impatient and rude. when we left, she didn't give us a "thanks for coming in" or "have a nice day," she threw her hand up in the air and said "i'm out of here." i would totally understand if she was waiting multiple tables in different areas, but she had 3 tables in our one area. read more

My daughter decided she wanted to have a family lunch for her birthday at your Gainesville location. So we called ahead but we were told you don't take reservations or call ahead service, but we were assured by one of your managers, Emily, they could accommodate our large party. So we show up only to be told it would be 2 HOURS!! Are you kidding me?!? There were several tables empty, but for some reason we couldn't be seated together for 2 hours! Unfortunately this restaurant neglected my food allergy and showed little concern until they messed up and brought out food that I'm allergic to. This was after I asked the waitress to please make sure they didn't have nuts or dairy on my dish. She was nonchalant when taking my order and didn't seem to understand the gravity of food allergies and/or anaphylaxis. I repeated myself multiple times to try to clarify for her. This lead me to believe that they don't focus on food allergies in their training. I'm only writing this to give others a heads up. They could accidentally kill someone with their reckless behavior. They did comp my meal which I appreciated. Since they had lost my trust I couldn't risk eating anything. My husband and I just had lunch here after church. It was my first time at this location and the chain itself. I am so pleased with their service! Our orders were taking a while to come out so our awesome waitress Kaleigh came to assure us our food was on its way and they took the appetizer off of our tab. When we finally received our food, my husbands steak was too tough and the ribs were cold but Kaleigh QUICKLY fixed the problem and several people came to our table to do whatever needed to make our experience better. Every person that talked to us took full responsibility and took it upon themselves to fix the problem. I honestly felt like the most important customer in the entire restaurant! Even though there were little issues (which were honestly no big deal for me and my husband) I promise we'll be back! The restaurant was beautiful and clean. New orleans pasta was amazing and the prices were better than expected

I was looking forward to eating here, we got seated and it took about 7-9 mins for a waiter/waitress to take our order. And after our order was in, it took nearly an hour to get our food, ridiculous. People that came in after us had their food before us, unbelievable. Also we had to ask for water refills and that also took 5 mins. And to beat it all the server was using foul language. I have never had such poor service before from this place. Let me start by saying my past visits have been pretty good but this one was absolutely horrible! We just visited this past Saturday at 530pm. We expected some kind of business but not this kind of lack of concern. First we were told that the wait was 5-10 minutes. 20 minutes later we were seated. Ok, so its hard to estimate wait time and I understand that. It was me, my wife, 2 yr old son, and my parents. Our waitress was good when she first came to the table and we ordered an appetizer. It came, we ate and everything went downhill from there. 7 pm came and then 715. At one point the waitress came back about 640p and said our food should be out soon. At 715 she came and said that we came right when things wee getting busy. We had watched others with the same size group come after us and get their food way before us. I asked for the manager. He seemed very nice, we explained the situation and he went to the kitchen and came back. We were told it was just being prepped for the table and would be out in 1 minute. We asked if that was a real minute and he assured us. 6 minutes later the food came out. It was the lunch portion and not the dinner portion we had ordered...(2 pieces of fish for 2 different plates), broccoli casserole instead of sweet potato casserole. They said they would bring the rest and the corrections out to us. The Manager told us the waitress had entered the lunch portions into the computer. The fish was barely cooked and the carrots with my wife's dinner were hard and barely cooked. It looked as though they rushed it out and separated the plates to look like we got what we ordered. Who knows but it was horrible! The Manager then came out and checked up on us and said he would only charge us for the lunch portion for the dinners and give us our appetizers and desserts, if we wanted it for free. We ate, then ordered desserts and waited another 15 minutes for TO GO desserts and to pay. We got out of there by a little after 8pm! over 2 hours later! It was ridiculous!!! read more

Party of 7 placed at a booth for 6 while many more comfortable tables were open. 40+ wait times while a large portion of the tables are unused is poor management. Heading back through Gainesville, we decided to stop in for a beer and a quick bite. The place was hopping but we were able to find two spots at the bar. Once there, we were able to survey the bar atmosphere...an upscale environment with a nice big bar (with a huge fish tank behind it), several high top tables and a bunch of booths on the perimeter all within eyeshot of the several TVs showing sports. As for the beer selection, there were only three beers on draft (Miller Lite, Yuengling and San Adams Lager) which was somewhat disappointing, but there was a decent selection of bottles which sufficed. My lady and I each ordered a 23 oz draft and after perusing the menu, she decided on the sweet heat chicken and shrimp combo and I the citrus miso salmon with a baked potato. The food came out pretty quickly despite the restaurant being packed so we were pleasantly surprised, but we soon figured out why it arrived so fast...my lady's shrimp, in addition to being quite small were RAW; not undercooked, but raw. Totally unacceptable. Her side salad was doused in dressing and the accompanying ginger rice was half raw/hard and half cooked. Lovely. I asked her if she wanted to send it back, but at that point she said she no longer wanted them anymore. My salmon was decent until I got to the thickest part in the middle at which point it too was raw. Don't get me wrong, I love sushi, but I ordered grilled salmon. At that point we were officially ready to move on from this place. The best part of the entire experience was that my pedestrian 23 oz Miller Lite was $3.00. To sum it all up, if you're down to slug some inexpensive run of the mill brews in a nice environment, you could do worse. For a much better beer selection in a sportier environment, you may just wanna walk across the parking lot and hit Buffalo Wild Wings. Just don't order any food despite being tempted by the low prices...there's obviously a reason for that too. read more

My family and I have always come to this location. The food is always good and the service is decent. For some reason, today, we had dinner here and the hostess basically sat us down. The server served us drinks, took our order and literally left and never came back to check on us. Our drinks were empty and we were missing other items. Finally our food came. We did not have utensils, steak sauce, etc. He finally showed up and we asked him for the utensils. He left and never came back again. My wife had to get up and ask someone else for utensils and steak sauce since our food was getting cold. I spoke to the manager and explained to her what happened. She apologized but did not seem that concerned. The server never apologized. It was as if he did not know what he did wrong. I wondered if the manager spoke to him about the situation. Our bill came and the manager took 10% off it. I appreciate the gesture but I would have much rather gotten an apology from the server. I may not come back to this restaurant again. Too bad because I really liked this place. read more

I had yet to visit Cheddars since the Gainesville location opened, I was excited to try out your restaurant for the first time. My daughter turned 5 yesterday September 3rd, and I thought we could enjoy a family dinner at Cheddars. We called ahead and explained we were a party of 8 (including 2 children) and were told that you did not accept reservations, but to expect a 40 minute wait (as to be expected on Labor Day). We arrived at 6:30 and were told the same information. We sat and waited.....40 minutes pass and still no table in sight for us. We asked how much longer and again were given no information on our wait time. An hour passes and we are still sitting there. When speaking to your male manager about our table he was incredibly rude obviously lacking manners. He proceeded to inform us that they were busy (as if I don't have eyes to see) and he was attempting to manage his kitchen staff, bar staff, and floor staff. As a manager this was a HUGE mistake, never should you inform your customers about your restaurant duties as if my request to be sat was miniscule in comparison to all his task. He ultimately did NOT remain calm when explaining why we had yet to be sat, and upset my party. He explained that he was UN aware of a time estimate of when we would be sat. REALLY!!?? Don't you think this is information you give your customers prior to them sitting there for a hour!! I've worked in food and beverage for over 10 years, and this experience makes me incredibly grateful for the staff that I have. NEVER EVER would one of my managers speak to a guest like your manager spoke to me. Shame on you. First impressions make a large impact, needless to say your manager made a huge impression on my opinion of your restaurant. read more

1/18/15... Stopped in with a friend for lunch around 2PM on a Sunday. The place was busy and there was a wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. We both ordered a soup and half sandwich combo. Overall our food was very good and the price was very fair. The problem was the service. I was lucky enough to get a small plate with a large chip in it which I returned immediately for another. Then I decided to try my soup. The spoon was already in it when it was served to me and when I pulled it out it was about the size of a baby spoon. So, then I had to ask for a soup spoon just so I could eat. I felt like someone was pulling a gag on. So now I can eat and the food was better than the presentation so far. But then we watched the lady next to us order her cheese covered fries. That became a cartoon of blunders. The first time her food comes out it is not even melted and they forgot the jalapenos. She sent it back and and they blundered it again. The bartender said the manager was going to make a new order for her and come out to talk to her when done. 5 minutes later someone walked out her plate, sat it on the bar, and walked away. We pointed it out to her and finally the bartender picked it up and gave to her. It looked like a messy pile of fries with cheese on it that had been nuked. We paid our tab and left and wished the lady next to us good luck. I hope she didn't have to pay for her meal. All I can say, if I go back, I will not expect decent service but hopefully at least a decent meal. 2 stars for the food and price, I would have given it 0 stars for service. read more

This is an amazing restaurant. Prices cheaper than Applebee's with better portions and quality. Good selection too. Recommend the dijon chicken. Comes with two good size chicken breast with a honey mustard type sauce with rice and mushrooms and two sides. The mushrooms are so good that sometimes we get extra mushrooms as a side. $8.99 for the this meal. Highly recommend this place. Wish I still lived close to one. read more

We have been to Cheddars several times. The food is good and the prices are reasonable, but the service is terrible. The last time we were there, they messed up three orders and people next to us came in after us but had their food eaten and were gone before we even got our food. I called the manager after we got home and he apologized and said he would send us gift certificates the following day. You guessed it....the gift certificates never came. The service was horrible. We ordered our food with our drinks to save time. I think the waitress didn't put our order in right away and we were waiting for over a half hour when we asked to speak to the manager. He never came to the table. the Waitress finally came over and said it was on its way a few different times. The people that were seated next to us came in after us and were almost done eating their meal and we still never got our food. The waitress was rude in her explanation and kept telling us the food was on its way . It never came and after sitting there for almost 40 minutes we walked out. My daughter's Girl Scout troop and leaders stopped for a meal after kayaking on Saturday the 29th. Even though we were a large party, we were seated quickly. Things went downhill. We ordered appetizers and our meals at the same time. 15 minutes after ordering, the appetizers came out. We quickly polished them off in 15 minutes. Our server came to our table to refresh our drinks and informs us she just put our meal order in and it would be 30-45 minutes because the place was really busy. Trying to be an example for others, we waited patiently, watching others who came in after us get their meals. The server avoided our table and many of our girls sat with empty drink glasses. After waiting nearly an hour for our meal, about five in our party got their orders. One of which was cold. An adult grabbed the assistant manager to speak about our poor service. About 15 minutes later, the remaining orders arrived. While the food was average, I would not return to this restaurant. The as't manager did reduce our bill by half, but only after we insisted some compensation for our time. We had arrived at 4:50 and left after 7pm. I talked with several ladies in the restroom with similar experiences that evening. read more
