Waited 20 minutes for my take out order just to be told my order was not available wow. Not good, do better Cheddar's

Tried to go eat here yesterday and sat in the waiting room with about 20 other people who were just ignored by all of the employees who walked by us. Finally someone comes up and then tells us "because you were here first. We want to seat you but because they have a party of about 10, you will have to wait like 15-30 minutes." Why would they be seated first without a reservation, if we were here first and the host stated it? We ended up leaving. read more

My husband went to Cheddars for a pickup order we ordered while there. The customer service was appalling. Upon ordering the waitress checked on our order three times. once the food was done the waitress came out and told us after we had already asked for macaroni and cheese that there was not enough to complete our order. There was not enough macaroni and cheese to complete three orders of macaroni and cheese there was only enough for one says the waitress. We asked her to put the macaroni and cheese with the burger and then just double fries and double fries with the shrimp . the food was then brought out but the order was completely discombobulated everything was wrong. And an astronomical amount of fries came out with the order. it was almost as if she canceled all the original sides and replace it with french fries. We're probably there an extra 15-20 minutes from when the food originally should have been out. The whole ordeal was extremely frustrating as they were very busy and it took too long so we left. read more

Let's start with the wait time being ridiculous at over an hour and a half. Not that the restaurant was packed because there were so many empty tables. Staff was late causing a major delay... But there were at least 4 hostesses??? The experience was sad to say the least. I gave them 1 star because our waiter was working several areas of large parties and still found the time to entertain my high energy toddler. The second star because those chicken tenders were the the most plump and juicy tenders we've ever encountered. That's where the good ended. So I'm a sweet tea kind of person and often times tea can be too sweet with it tasting more like sugar water with a hint of tea flavor. This sweet tea had no sugar it actually was slightly less sweet than the unsweetened tea. The food portions and quality was very inconsistent at our table of four. We had to order our steaks medium rare to get it close to get it close to medium which still arrived at our table medium well. The shrimp and other seafood just tasted fried. The sides were cheesy or very overcooked. I will not be returning here. It seemed like a large bar instead of a restaurant. At the price point I didn't expect great but I would have settled for okay. Granted I haven't been to this restaurant in years but it was a major disappointment for the wait. Huge Saturday night mistake. read more

I was introduced to Cheddar's when i lived in Kentucky. My all time favorite thing on the menu is the broccoli and cheddar casserole. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food, but the service was fine. I ordered the maple bacon chicken sandwich (minus bacon) with a side of broccoli and cheddar casserole. The chicken sandwich was pretty basic- nothing to rave about. I felt I got more bread than i did actual chicken. The broccoli and cheese casserole wasn't cheesy at all. Came to Cheddar's for the 1st time in a few years. Much better experience. Our server Nathan was excellent. Very friendly and gave some great food and drink recommendations. The food was good. I had the monte Cristo and my cousin had the Bacon cheeseburger which she said was mediocre. I truly enjoyed my meal. Our drinks were really good. We had the Texas Sweet Tea (my new favorite) and the Maui Margarita. I'm only giving ths rating a 4 because my cousinwasn't that satisfied with her burger. read more

Hit there about noon on a rainy Sunday. There was a wait (expected) and told about 30 minutes. Hostess was pleasant. Got the text that table was ready after 13 minute (perfect). Sat down got our butter croissants right out of the gate. Ordered drinks. Came fast. So fast we still hadn't gotten through the menu. Ordered food. I had ribs and tenders. My son had double country fried chicken. Based on price we were both pleasantly surprised by portion size. Both left very full. Our server Zane was on top of drink refills and checking in on us. I have never given a restaurant a negative review but this was the absolute worst. We arrived which a larger party which I know can be harder for some restaurants but the manager said it was fine. We sat down at 8pm. We didn't get to order until 8:30. We didn't get our drinks until 8:45 some until 9:30. Our server Roman was rude, openly ignored us, didn't update us on food, didn't clean our bread plates (which he didn't even provide us with at first), and didn't refill drinks. He walked by us many many times and was never on the floor. We didn't get our food until 9:50 and before that, 1/3 were able to get their food, finish and get their checks. The other 1/3 had to keep sending back their orders because they were incorrect. Someone else got raw bacon and the second time, it was almost chips. One of our party had to send her food back 3 times. We asked for the manager Won Kim for 30 minutes and when he finally, literally just peaked his head out the kitchen asked, "y'all good?" I wish i was kidding. He then told us to just tip the server and leave, which is fine however but it shouldn't have gotten to that point. Idk if this location uses a different vendor or what, but nothing tasted like the one back home except the croissants. The cheddar broccoli casserole was tasteless and hard, the chicken strips were absolutely atrocious and were not tossed in buffalo sauce as asked. Chicken strips are a pretty hard meal to mess up and they are usually good at the locations in KC, but the chicken strips at this location were so nasty that neither myself or my bf finished our food. We went here on New Years Eve and was refused service. Arrived here at 9:04 (restaurant closed at 10) and was told there was only 1 server working and the wait would exceed the time remaining for them to be open. The hostess was unpleasant and seemed annoyed that we were even there. My issues are: I called this place in advance to confirm there hours so someone should've stated then they were short staffed etc. secondly, I understand the hostess probably wanted to get off so she could celebrate HOWEVER, when you accept a job in the food service industry, you acknowledge and accept the fact that you will be sacrificing your time which will include working on HOLIDAYS. Needless to say, I will not give this restaurant a 2nd chance no matter how great the food could be. Well.... this makes me sad, but Cheddar's in Charlotte is only getting 2 stars from me and it's solely based on service. I was in town for a meeting and a few of us decided to grab a bite before I left town. Everyone agreed on Cheddar's because we typically enjoy the food and you can't beat the prices. We were seated immediately, but we sat in our seat for about 25 minutes before a server came by to introduce themselves or get drink orders. Two members of our party were there before we arrived so that was about 30 minutes. A hostess came by an apologized to us and said she'd have the manager take care of our appetizers for the wait. Later our server came by and he was very nice. He was apologetic, but he didn't have to be. We weren't seated in his section, the hostess asked him to take care of our table. The food was good. I usually get the Key West Chicken and Shrimp, but this time I ordered the Mango Talapia with carrots and broccoli casserole. I also had edamame. Everyone at our table was pleased with the food. The group seated behind us encountered the same problem. They hadn't placed drink orders or met their server. The group complained and we shared that we'd just encountered the same issue. Cheddar's was surprisingly over staffed that day. Everywhere you looked there was a server, but apparently the section assignments were wrong. The manager came out to the group seated near us and began to explain as well as help the servers get orders. By this time, we'd all finished our food. We were patiently waiting for our bill, while we watched the madness unfold behind us. It took us another 15 minutes to get our bill and the appetizers had not been comped. Everyone was ready to go and paid quickly without even bringing up the promise the hostess made earlier. I think the food is always good at Cheddar's, but this is the first time I've experience such poor service with so many servers on staff. Customer service was ridiculously poor. I called to place an order and was put on a 15min hold. Redialed and told them no one ever came to the phone and before I could finish my sentence I was put on hold again for another 15min. By that time I'd already arrived to the restaurant & when I attempted to place an order inside at exactly 10:31pm i was told that orders halted at 10:30... Even after telling him I'd been on hold for 30min , he blankly stared and said "sorry". I was going to be seated since I'd driven so far but after approaching a group of workers on their phone who were uninvitingly looking at me and failed to even greet me, I left. The food was fine here. I ordered something new and I wasn't a fan, but that's my issue not the restaurant. My husband enjoyed his and I was happy with the chips and salsa. My problem with my meal today was the service. One of the main reasons I go to Cheddar's is for the Cookie Monster so I know it takes a while to cook. As soon as we received our food I asked the waitress to put in an order for one, then she disappeared. We waited for half an hour before I finally went to the host stand and asked for our check and left without the cookie monster. Perhaps Friday night was not the night to go? The place was packed so my girlfriends and I decided to have a drink at the bar while we waited. I ordered a margarita...and it was pretty yummy. After we were seated and given our menus our very unenthusiastic waitress arrived and asked if we were ready to order?!? We. Just. Sat. Down....so Ummm...no...not yet can we have a few moments? Literally, after TWO minutes she was back...still not enough time to review the menu which has a pretty good variety and again very reasonable prices. So we asked for a few more moments, and she seemed annoyed but obliged. Now, don't get me wrong I'm all about attentive service...if it had been that I wouldn't mind but I hate feeling rushed! Especially after I just waited 30 minutes for a table! When she returned we were ready, I ordered the tilapia with mango salsa with comes topped so shrimp over rice with the choice of two sides. I asked for the mango salsa on the side, and ordered the broccoli and cheese casserole and buttered corn. After we ordered we waited and waited. Our waitress didn't make another appearance so we were left with empty glasses, no napkins or silverware. However, another server finally brought out our food...still NO silverware or napkins....so we asked if she could bring them....nothing....so we waited some more. Then when we finally found our waitress we asked again, she said she would, be right back with the silverware and again we WAITED. Finally, we tracked out another waiter and finally got our silverware and napkins...UGH! The sad part is that the food was actually really good. My fish was seasoned so well and it shrimp on top were the perfect compliment. the mango salsa was really good too...but I'm glad I got it on the side. But since the service was lacking and it was a complete madhouse in our section I just can't really say I'm a total fan of this place. So for now, everything was just okay. Honestly, based on experience alone they deserve 2 stars but the food bumped them up to a 3 star. My family and I must have caught them on a bad day. Our initial wait time was about 5 to 10 minutes but it was almost 10 minutes before someone took our food and drink order. After another 15 minutes I asked the hostess to track down our waitress, because we had not received our drinks yet. I even found the a lady that said she was the manager and informed her, she really seemed to care less. Our drinks finally came and were told the croissants were coming fresh out of the oven. Once we got them they were not completely done but the parts that were done were pretty tasty. My husband ordered the salmon with rice, which he said was average. My step-son ordered ribs, no complaints, but he eats anything. My daughter had chicken strips and fries, which she seemed to like. I ordered the country fried steak, when I cut it open, the meat seem to deflate and a large amount of juice came out to reveal a purplish color meat. I was not too sure but took a bite anyway. I decided not to finish the meal. The waitress was very nice and offered to order me something else and put it on rush. Initially I told her that it was fine I just wanted to leave the restaurant and not have to wait another 45 minutes for food. I gave in and carried out a bourbon pork chop. The waitress was also servicing a table next to us, I noticed that she had gotten their order wrong a couple of times. Upon finishing our meal our check was debited for the wrong amount, once it was corrected we hurried to leave the restaurant. Upon our exit another couple mentioned to the hostess that they had been seated but were leaving because no one came to take their order. The hostess unapologetically sounding said that she was sorry.. it seems as though customer service and quality of food are not a concern for this establishment. I do not recommend!!! read more

First my salad , then my dinner and I asked about my wine and was told that the bartender was still "making " it. OMG, do any of the restaurants care about anything around here? While the food is mediocre, at least Billy's offers great service. Next time, I am just going to have to make a drive somewhere to find a decent meal with good service. Cheddar's is a nice place to go to for a nice meal if you want something that's fairly inexpensive and want your monies worth. I would say sometimes service could be a little better but I have never really had awful service. Cheap drink specials that taste really good. Overall I would say try to go when it's not a busy time you should enjoy it either way though. All the food I have tried I've never really had a bad dish. read more

This bonus edition of Excited about Eating takes us to Cheddar's Restaurant in the University area of Charlotte. This casual family restaurant, founded in Arlington, Texas boasts that they want to "be a great restaurant that serves quality food fresh from the kitchen in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere at a fair price." I believe they accomplish this. For lunch I chose the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie served with a fresh Caesar salad. The Pot Pie was full of chunky chicken, potatoes and vegies, and a tasty cream sauce. The crust was flaky, golden brown, and just the right thickness. Dora here. Candy pecans, honey lime dressing and a finger-licking-buttery croissant jazzed up an ordinary salad to over-the-top for me, and I could drink a gallon of their unsweet tea. I would rate this restaurant five forks out of five for a family friendly restaurant serving outstanding food. read more

I went in for a lunch time visit for some good soulful drinks. My wife and I were a little skeptical going during lunch as our previous visit had us being seated and getting no help(not even an offer of water) for over 30 minutes with an active 18 month old. This visit, we were seated pretty quickly in the bar area and Elisabeth was excellent. She greeted us just after being seated, and took our drink order. We originally placed an order for drinks and informed her that we preferred them with our food opposed to before and she was ok with that. 5 mins later after changing our minds, she was 100% okay with going ahead and making the before the food and her attitude did not change. The drinks were stellar and the food was pretty good. I would definitely recommend Cheddars for lunch time! read more

Came here on a Saturday night needing some good food after a business conference as I was at the point of being hangry. My man, my mom and I walked in and you could tell the food here had to be good 'cause there were a bunch of people waiting for a table. To our surprise, however, we were told the wait would only be between 11-17 mins which was awesome!!! So we waited for literally 5 minutes and a very pleasant server walked up and told us there was seating available in the bar area -- which means we didn't have to wait!!! Yay! Within minutes our server, Xavier, came over and took our drink order, and we also ordered the spinach artichoke dip. By the time he brought our drinks, we already knew what we wanted to order... Fish tacos, Dijon Chicken and Mushrooms, and Steak & Shrimp. He barely walked away to put in our order before he came around the corner again to bring out the spinach and artichoke dip. Phenomenal!!! Ooey gooey melted cheese with spinach, topped with a dollop of sour cream, along with freshly made chips, and a side of salsa. Ya, we devoured it pretty quick! Minutes later, our food arrived bubbling hot from the kitchen, smelling divine! Everything was so flavorful and tasty, we nearly licked the plates clean! Needless to say, the service, food, and atmosphere was absolutely great!!! We came in extremely famished/hangry, but we definitely left satisfied and happy! Well done, Cheddar's, another group of happy customers! P.S. Anyone that gave Cheddar's a less than perfect review must've gone on a terrible evening; or perhaps your tastebuds misled you... My family is disgusted by the treatment we received last night from the staff here. This location needs to either shut down or fire every one and start over. As someone who waited tables before, there's nothing valuable about having a staff who doesn't care about giving great service to every guest who walks in the door. Although there are multiple 1-star reviews for this Cheddar's restaurant, I have to counter that and say my family and I had a great experience with our server - Alexis. We were seated promptly, orders taken within 10 min. and meal turnaround was within 15min.
