We had heard good things about Cheddar's and wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. To put it right up front: it did not. Perhaps it is the fact that they have one of those menus that does everything; but nothing extremely well, or maybe that the kitchen was slow as a dog, or perhaps the fact that after engaging with the manager, little was done to remedy the problems. Whatever the case, here is my take: Waiting staff was pleasant and always kept our water glasses full (my meter stick to tell if they are keeping tabs on our table), the environment was noisy but not loud. We were able to engage in a conversation without feeling like we were yelling. That said, the conversation quickly devolved into "where is our food?" 30 minutes after our crispy cheese bites with marinara sauce were polished off. The sauce was a hearty, chunkier sauce than typically served at at similar chains, which complimented the panko-breaded fried cheese bites very well. Our food took about 45 minutes to hit the table after our order went in, which is downright unacceptable for this type of dining. If it were a fine steakhouse or more refined establishment, I would be more forgiving. That said, my Monte Cristo sandwich was full of flavor thanks to the variety of cheese and meet complimented by the sweet raspberry preserves, albeit a bit salty for my taste. The batter was also overdone, a lesser amount would really set this dish off. The macaroni and cheese and cheesy broccoli casserole were served lukewarm and were nothing to write home about. With a name like "Cheddar's" you would think cheese would be front and center. But alas, this reminded me more of bland velveta than any cheddar I have had of late. My wife's blackened red fish sandwich was good, but the bread was soggy and had lost its crisp. I wonder if had been in the window for a while. I don't know if we will be going back any time soon. There are better places to dine in the area. I understand that you want to have something on the menu for everyone, but I believe a more focused menu with improvements to the house staples would really serve this place (and it's slow moving kitchen) well. read more

Let's start by saying that the food is reasonably priced, and very family friendly. You can see a wide variety of options on the menu, but the chicken finger platter wins me over every time. I have tried most of the side, and keep coming back to the broccoli casserole. They generally have a few decent beers on tap, but usually just 1 or 2 local'ish brews. I have only had one visit where I waited more than 30 minutes to be seated, which can be a good indication of how the service is that night. I'm knocking it down to 3 stars, based on the service my last visit. We waited entirely too long on the spinach dip, which finally arrived moments before our actual meal. If they choose to put a 12 year olds drink inside a styrofoam cup, they better start asking if it needs refilled. If the person who brings out your meal ask if there is anything else he can get you, he should not follow up by saying, I just bring the food out. We were escorted to our table and had to fight through 5-6 employees who apparently had nothing better to do than block the aisle...chatting. We were seated next to a booth with what sounded like 10 screaming children and with the noise of the other diners it was difficult to hear the conversation at our own table. Our waitress greeted us promptly with pad in hand, "are you ready to order?" Um, no....haven't even looked at menu yet. The waitress appeared annoyed and gave us a couple of minutes. Ok, I finally understand what this restaurant is. A few years ago I tried their ribs at the location in Cincinnati. Duh! They are not a bbq restaurant. My two star review was somewhat unfare to them. What they do a great job of is American Fare and they do it at very family friendly prices. We went there to celebrate a birthday lunch and the atmosphere was fantastic. The service was great even though they were extremely busy on this particular day. We were seated farely quickly despite the crowd. I'm a huge fan of sweet tea and their tea was superb- probably sweetened with pure cane / sugar in the raw, etc. We ordered the Monte Cristo and Maple Bacon Chicken sandwiches, as well as the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla- all were excellent. I went with my husband tonight for dinner and this was our first time at his location. I got the chicken pot pie and my husband got the key west chicken and shrimp. We also got the cheese bites as an appetizer. The cheese bites were good, but a little on the salty side. The entrees were both hot and tasty. The one issue we had with our meal was the salad I got with my pot pie came with my entree versus arriving before the entree. The waitress apologized profusely and said it was because they ran out of lettuce. However, this wasn't a big deal as the pot pie was very filling so I ended up taking the salad home. It was reasonably priced and the food was pretty good. Overall, I'd be willing to go back. Yuck! There weren't many positives to this place. Food, service, flies at our table...it all pretty much sucked. Imagine this...we requested to be seated outside on a warm summer night. As soon as we sat down we noticed the fly problem. We have an infant so I was not a fan of flies circling her precious little head. Went there again tonight 1/21/17 my wife had the salmon she said it was good I had a full rack of ribs they were ok but a little bit dry in spots so dry that I couldn't eat all of it. They should spend a little more time in cooking the food right and not just serving as many people as they can in a hour or so. We sat in the area in front of the fish tank and the floor was sooo greasy and slick that you couldn't hardly walk on it. I won't be in a big hurry to go back.
