I think it's funny that this Cheddar's scratch kitchen is right next door to Olive garden because they are literally the same company but I was glad I chose Cheddar's on this day though because I really wanted something a little more hearty and they delivered. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo because he was craving sweet and savory and of course I sampled some for myself. The jam was fantastic! I had the Dijon chicken with broccoli cheese casserole and it was like eating at my grandma's house. Everything was delish and the prices here are so good. All but once I've had a great experience here. The staff is always very nice and fast. I've been there at a lot of different times of the day, and it is always a good experience. The restaurant is very nice and I like the aesthetic. They have their specials on the board out front, and everything from lunch to dessert is good. Cheddars may be chain, but it's a Darden Group chain which typically means it's better than others... not always. In this case it was an extremely strong experience before even stepping foot in the door. The restaurant is not located off the main highway, but is along their main drag of chain restaurants. Olive Garden another Darden was beside them. The parking lot was free of debris. The landscaping is a WOW factor. It's absolutely stunning! The same company does Olive Garden too which looks amazing. Also worth mentioning is they have a large patio to enjoy all the floral fragrances. Even a fountain is nearby. Our hostess promptly seated us with menus for a lunch visit. Soon after our waitress welcomed us with their signature croissants drizzled with frosting. So yummy! She got drink orders and in a short amount of time we had drinks. We were prepared to put in orders. Within 15 min or so our two entrees came out by a runner. Cheeseburger with dude if broccoli and Monte Cristo with side of fries. Everything looked visually good and tasted better. Our waitress checked I soon after the foods arrival. Over half way through our meal drinks were low and a manager checked in and took care of it. We stopped here on a Saturday night after a long day of driving, and Cheddars was a great choice. Having never heard of Ceddars we had no idea what to expect, but we all left happy with our food and service. We had steak, salmon, and a cheeseburger and they were all very tasty and presented very nicely. Steak and salmon at a restaurant we have no experience with can be a roll of the dice in terms of what you get, but Cheddars really delivered. The steak was cooked to the desired temperature and was not all fatty or gristly, and the salmon was cooked just right. The sides were all really good. No one left hungry or regretting their order choice. We don't know if we'll be out in Beckly again anytime soon, but if we are we'll consider a stop here. read more

Having enjoyed the Wheeling location I was glad to stop at this location on our way home from Pigeon Forge. The layout is pretty much the same with the horizontal ceiling fan. People here are very friendly and of course your meal starts out with the famous honey butter croissants. This visit I decided to try something different so I went ahead and ordered the Bourbon salmon with vegetables. My husband had the Buffalo chicken wrap, and my daughter had the chicken pot pie. We got our food fairly quickly and it was piping hot. I loved the Bourbon glaze that came with my salmon. I got to sample my daughter's chicken pot pie and believe me it was very good and tasty!! I must say that even one bite can be filling. My husband enjoyed his Buffalo chicken wrap. Since Cheddar's is a ziosk restaurant you can pay directly on the little machine on the table or summon your waiter to bring you the check if you prefer to pay cash. I've had enough good experiences at this chain that I usually won't pass up an opportunity to visit - stopped in after visiting the New River Gorge. We arrived a bit after 8pm & there was no wait. Took a few minutes for our server to arrive, but once greeted service was pretty fast. I ordered the Grilled Salmon with Baked Potato & Broccoli as sides. Salmon was quite tasty and not dry. My Girlfriend had the Top Sirloin - good but looked a tad small. Only 'complaint' was that in the middle of a trivia game, our server backed us out to show us how to check out with the tabletop tablet (same tablet as everyone else uses ...Ziosk, I believe) - I suppose I can give a pass as I'm sure everyone wanted to get home, but it was still 45 min before 10pm closing when we left;) All-in-all a pretty darn good meal! We got the spinach dip for the app and that was warm and tasty with the chips. I got the country fried chicken, I was a little disappointed that they only offered the chicken breast and not leg and thigh. The breast was very juicy though and had a very crunchy coat with gravy, and it tasted great. I did not care for the mashed potatoes, it was overly thick to enjoy. Use to be a regular at Cheddars in Beckley WV. The staff all seem to be pretty good people and are good at serving. My issue with Cheddars is ever since they were bought by Darden you can't get food that is hot even if you ask for it. I have never gotten Hot French Fries ever . My boyfriend and I dropped in last minute from out of state looking for a dog friendly place to have a quick meal after a hike with our puppy. I recently ordered the Bourbon-glazed Salmon with Seasoned Rice, Broccoli Cheese Casserole, Fries, Honey Butter Croissants, and a Peach Sweet Tea. Oh gosh, it was all so very delicious. Just excellent. Superb service from a professional, courteous, friendly worker. I was also lucky enough to sit directly in front of a large, nice looking fresh water fish tank that housed numerous cool fish. I wish I would have taken a picture for posting here. I particularly noticed a personable and great looking reddish colored Parrotfish. It had a lively personality and looked great. Bugs in the bread. Manager acted as if we put them in the bread and the honey. Croissants had sat for a while before being served to us with dead sticky bugs on and under them because the paper was saturated. Server took orders from our two grandson and then my husband and ignored me. I had to ask to place my order. When husband took croissants to the manager regarding the bugs the manager asked "What do you want me to do about it?"!! All of the food was disgusting, service was horrible, and the manager was rude and condescending. Server treated me like I was too stupid to use the ziosk - an add on to the table to take up room and force the customers to wait on themselves. When will these restaurants start having customers to go to the kitchen for their orders. We are being instructed to place our orders on a kiosk on the table, then pay on the kiosks and then guve a review. Why go out to eat if you are going to wait on yourself!!!
