We were traveling home and wanted lunch. We stopped because of the good reviews. We were warmly greated when we walked in and offered to seat ourselves. What a great diner. Such a good selection of sandwiches, salads and pizza. We got an order of onion rings to start off with. They were delicious with there house sauce. I ordered Camp Creek Club with house made chips. It was on toasted sourdough bread with a hearty helping of ham, turkey, crisp bacon, lettuce and thick slices of tomato (I opted to leave off the cheese and mayo). The Ham and Turkey were not deli meat but actual pieces of sliced ham and turkey! My husband ordered The Nate which is a fried bologna sandwich. It came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard. The sandwiches were huge and very good!. He finished half of my half and I got the other half to take home for dinner. We had to save some room for the ice cream. Half of the restaurant is the diner and the other was ice cream and cake. There was plenty of choices of both! It was good creamy ice cream. While on the way to see the Grandview, it was only right to stop by the diner with the same name for a quick lunch before our hike. And pleasantly, we enjoyed ourselves here. The Food: Food was great! I went with a cup of chili as an appetizer and a Cheeseburger with chips as my main entree. The cup of chili was pretty good, great ratio between meat and beans. The burger was cooked perfectly as well, tender and juicy with some fresh toppings. The Service: Service was amazing! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Orders were brought out in a timely manner and there were frequent table check ups as well! The Atmosphere: The diner was nice, very clean on the inside and there was a decent amount of seating available. The diner is connected to the ice cream shop next door as well, so there is also additional seating there. Overall, a 5/5! Absolutely enjoyed our time here. My family and I were traveling and stopped for lunch. Everything was so good it makes me sad that we won't be able to go back unless we're in the area again! We were excited to find a place with good reviews that was so close to our peaceful airbnb, as well as opened at a little later of an hour. We thought it was also a good sign when the parking lot was packed! Well, unfortunately this missed the mark for us. We were seated quickly, but the floors and the table were a bit of a sticky mess, and the table right in the front of the "hostess area" was covered in napkins, spilled drinks, and food all over the floor. It didn't get cleaned for what seemed like quite a while either. We eventually ordered a personal pan pizza and a burger, both of which came out separately, almost 10-15 minutes apart. My pizza came out first, but I felt incredibly guilty eating in front of my very hungry boyfriend, so I waited quite a while to be able to eat with him together, leading to my own food to start to get a bit cold. When his food finally did come out, it was a bit of a disappointment. My pizza was okay, but not incredible. The same can be said of his burger. We are big foodies, but this food felt very "snack bar average". I feel like we could have cooked the meal ourselves for the same quality at home. Our waitress was incredibly nice, but we felt bad that she seemed much more overworked than she should have been. Basic hygiene and sanitation, please, or I'm not interested. The hot dogs took forever--what's so time-consuming about a damn hot dog?--and we waited extra long for them to bother letting us know that our order was ready. They had just left it sitting there for I can't guess how long, no doubt with flies buzzing and crawling all over it the whole time. Well, I tried them and fried green tomatoes at the Grandview Restaurant in Spencer years ago. However, there's also a Grandview Diner in Beaver. Today, I jumped at the opportunity to mark another restaurant off my list. Before going, you must know that the "new" menu they have on Facebook is not the newest menu. I like to plan ahead, so I had already decided on two hot dogs and onion petals before I walked in. To my dismay, onion petals have now been replaced by a $9 onion ring tower, and that's way too much for this ol' gal to handle. Also, they raised the price of hot dogs. I scoured the new "new" menu quickly and discovered they had fried green tomatoes. That's a little treasure you don't see too often. Five slices for around $9. I thought it was a little steep for a place playing Lynyrd Skynyrd and Charlie Daniels in the background, but I do love some "maters," so I decided to give them a whirl. Side note, I have no issue with country and southern rock. However, music sets a certain ambiance for a restaurant. Those prices were a little steep for the "Devil Went Down to Georgia" vibes the diner projects. I paid around 19 bucks for a pop, one hot dog, and tomatoes. It wasn't bad food. The hot dog had a nice slaw. It was sweet, just like my mawmaw used to make. The chili had a good flavor. They only sell English dogs, by the way. I like English dogs, so that wasn't a big issue with me. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the "maters." I thought they lacked flavor and were kind of mushy. I felt a little let down. I expected them to be better for the price and also because folks had recommended them. Would I go back? Nah. I can mark this one off the list. I kinda wish I had gone to Olive Garden, lol. The Never Ending Pasta Bowl special would have been cheaper, and I'd actually know what I'm getting. read more

Great find. Fantastic hospitality. Good burgers and onion rings. We didn't have any, but looked like there was a homemade pineapple upside down cake on the counter. Inside has about 7 tables. I called ahead for a pickup of 2 hotdogs chili and slaw. These are as good or better than King T in my opinion. Toasted bun fine chopped coleslaw homemade for sure as well as the chili. Place was very busy but no excuse for lousy food. It took 25 minutes for a sandwich order to be served after ordering. The club sandwich was awful. My wife only ate 1/2 and not because it was big but it was hard and tasteless. I had the worst buffalo chicken sandwich ever. I've had a burger and a cheesesteak before that were pretty good. I looked upon YELP for guidance and was rewarded by being advised to eat at The Grandview Diner. What a breath of fresh air. Charming hostess and equally kind and welcoming wait staff. The Diner is run by three Southern Ladies who run a tight ship. Very clean and warm service prepare you for a terrific meal. I had breakfast this morning with eggs over easy ( done to perfection ) hash browns ( done to perfection ) and topped off with ...you guessed it...sausage and grits ( done to perfection ) A true find for travelers who find themselves in Beaver or Beckley West Virginia. If your Mom and Pop took over an old Subway, sprinkled a long time collection of lighthouse themed objects around the place you'd have some idea of what this place looks, feels and tastes like. Lighthouse themed weeds bringing life and character to the former corporate blandness. I don't mean to brag, but I've traveled the world and eaten at the some of the best restaurants (at least that's how I remember it being before I had kids) so I'm all for sophistication. But sometimes, when you've got a long morning's driving in the rear view, and a long afternoon's driving ahead of you, all you want for lunch is honest food, at honest prices, just next to a gas station off the highway. I got the Philly Sandwich with fries. It tasted great, just like my mother had made it. But understand that my mother has never been to Pennsylvania, never-mind Philadelphia. I followed that up with a slice of homemade Coconut and Pineapple cake that could've come straight from the church bake sale. You'll pay a lot more elsewhere for food made with a lot less care. I stopped here on a vacation to West Virginia. I think this was the only restaurant in the area. Fairly mediocre food. I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a side salad and chips. My friend had a grilled chicken salad but it came without chicken. The staff was very friendly but new. So she struggled with some things, which is fine. Not docking points for that. Mostly docking points because of the mediocre food and the salad didn't arrive with any chicken on it (which my friend just ate it and didn't bother complaining).
