I stopped on for The Peppercorn Cheesy Steak Burger and Im disappointed to find out that they no longer serve it, it was hands down the BEST burger they make so instead I opted for the new Garlic Steak Burger. What a major disappointment, the flavor was just ok but it had very little cheese and was dry. I could not understand a word the women at the order booth said because her English was so poor. They put Bacon on it which I didn't order. read more

I asked for extra pickles and they put no pickles. Bun is a flat/mushy potato bun. Burger doesn't look or taste like it was grilled. Fries were great though. Strawberry shake was ok, wouldn't have gotten it if I knew it had ice cream in it. Strawberry flavor was great but I thought it was going to be a malted milkshake - those are much more delicious. It's like they just put soft serve in a cup and stuck a straw in it. read more

Went earlier today to get some food through the drive through and one of the employees in clearview from the food window was not wearing a mask or gloves and was openly handling food. All other employees I could see were complying except for her but it made me super uncomfortable as a customer. I called later to complain and when I pointed it out the employee on the phone told me that in fact everyone was wearing masks and had no idea what I was talking about. This place is a real health hazard since they clearly aren't making all their employees comply with the legal standards set by the Health Department and are willing to openly lie about their current practices to their customers. Don't go here. read more

Like their motto says, Fast foodies know the deal! This place always has great deals and the quality of their burgers is superb. However, the drinks are pricy and the soft drinks are 50% ice. I love the weekly deals such as 69¢ cheeseburger deal, 4 checkerburger for $4 deal, and the free large fries (when you sign up for text messages/emails) with any purchase. read more

This was our first time to a checkers and we were very pleased. They had great deals, the food was no compromise- delicious. The portions were right for me and they had a good menu selection. The people were courteous and professional and the service was very fast. We will definitely be back. I would hope that they would add some caffeine-free diet drink selections. read more

Food: Checkerburger w/o cheese: eh, a lot of mayo, and mine didn't have onions :( I usually get it without mayo and I think it tastes better that way (tastes more fresh). 1.5/5 (would rate it 3.5/5 based on precious orders without mayo and with onions). Chili cheese fries: they were all right... Nothing special. Kind of soggy. The original plain fries are muchh better. 3/5 (5/5 for the original fries). Funnel cake: a lot smaller than I imagined. Size of my small hand! (Palm of a larger hand). Came wrapped in burger foil - soggy on top, crispier on bottom, needed way more powdered sugar. 1/5 Stuffed Oreo cone: I'm not a huge fan of chocolate ice cream but I decided to get the swirl for the Oreos sakes. Chocolate flavor easily covers over any vanilla. A lot of ice cream on top and then an overwhelming amount of Oreo cookies once you hit the middle of the cone. I liked how the Oreo cookies were soaked in the ice cream though! I've gotten this before with just vanilla and I'll probably do that next time too. 3.5/5 Service: -- walk front - sometime you need to wait a minute while they get the drive through orders set but once they get your order, the food comes really quick. -- drive through - really quick -- they didn't have knives so they offered to cut the burger for me. Checkers knows their role well - they understand that fast food may not be the healthiest option out there and they do not try to mask it, in fact, they embrace it and I respect them for that. Checkers' food are flavorful (and probably greasier) and portion is generous. As far as fast food goes it is one of my top choices. If you decide to give them a go, make sure you try their seasoned fries! read more

Tasty food, but if you're health-conscious beware that it's a bit on the greasy side. Open late too, so if you're hungry at night it's a good place to stop by and grab a bite to eat. The menu item prices are reasonable, with plenty of coupons available, either on the back of the receipt or through their e-mailing list. I went one time with a coupon, the food on it was not available so they let me redeem it on another item of my choice. Another time, they got my order wrong and when I came back and told them, they quickly corrected their mistake by giving me the sandwich I'd wanted originally and let me keep the one they gave me, so I basically got a free sandwich. Very nice of them. read more

I received a free order of large fries, for signing up for getting emails I purchased 2 orders of Popcorn Chicken and 2 big Bufords My son said there were more Fries than popcorn chicken One had fresh fries and the other had mostly older fries Which were very Salty My 2 sandwiches were sloppy And my fries were the same mixed of both new and old and very salty Very disappointed My visit was on 5/27/2020 between 4-5 pm read more

My husband cautions me about writing this review - but I'm going to present the facts and let everyone decide for themselves. We were busying packing up our condo, as we were a couple of weeks from moving into our new home. As we rushed around, trying to complete all of our errands, we realized that we hadn't had a single bite to eat all day, and decide to grab a quick lunch from Checkers. My husband gets the fish sandwich with onion rings, and I get the Big Buford with french fries (please note that we did not have anything in common with our order). We got a bit of attitude from the staff - the check out girl keep cutting us off as we were trying to place our order. A little annoying and our hunger probably made us a little more gruff then ususual. My sandwich wasn't as thick as the pictures, and the bread was a little soggy from the grease (this is not necessarily a bad thing), but it was still fairly tasty. My fries were crispy and well seasoned. Basically, better then most fast food burgers, but definitely not the best fast food burger I've had. So I give it 3 stars. After eating, we made another run to Home Depot - when my tummy felt a little...weird. Like there was a lump of lead in it. And a little queasy. I didn't really think much of it, because I did scarf down the food pretty fast, and I'll admit, I was also pretty stressed out about the impending move - I figured that it was just a combination of eating too fast and nerves. After Home Depot, I started to feel worse, and decided that it *had* to be nerves, and decide to take a quick power nap. Upon waking from my nap (which was less then a hour), I made a MAD DASH to the bathroom where I proceeded to spend the next 6 hours, hugging the toilet and hurling up every last bit of burger and fries and diet coke I had in my stomach. My husband - who had the fish and onion rings (again, nothing in common with my order), was totally OK. Now, I am NOT saying that Checker's gave me food poisoning - because I didn't get my vomit tested and I don't want to be open to a lawsuit or anything - so PLEASE NOTE I am NOT saying that Checkers gave me food poisoning...especially as it COULD have been my nerves...but IF they did give me food poisoning (and please note the IF), I would like to say... ...THANK YOU CHECKERS! You have earned an additional 1 star bump up...because 1) I love vomiting (no, I do not have an eating disorder...but vomiting feels good to me!), 2) due to the vomiting, I got out of packing, which I absolutely hate, and 3) because I vomited for 6 hours straight...I ended up losing 7 pounds! SEVEN POUNDS! WOOHOO! OK, I gained it all back the next morning with Waffle House...heh...but if I DIDN'T vomit for 6 hours, I would have GAINED 7 pounds after my WH run, instead of breaking even...so I count this as a WIN!!! BUT - because I can't prove that I got food poisoning from Checkers, I am NOT going to give them that 1 star bump up, but instead stick to the 3 stars that I had intended to give them prior to the marathon vomiting session (which was truly epic and awesome). read more

I'm no longer a Checkers virgin... It was about time. Honestly, based upon one visit, 3 stars is a stretch. But the fries blew me away, so I'm being generous. Let me explain. On a weekday at like 6PM, I think both of the windows should be open. That line gets long. But just my luck - only one was open. The line moved painfully slow. Then, once we got to the ordering box, we saw that none of the deals were on the menu. There was a giant 4 for $4 sign just before entering the drive-thru and we wanted to see what items were included in that deal on the menu, but alas - not even a mention of it on there at all. And we didn't want to hold up the line by asking about it, so we didn't. As I mentioned, the fries are insanely good. Someone else made a Popeye's reference and it's true. They're seasoned like Popeye's fries. But somehow, they're better. Great crispy bite on the outside and amazingly soft and delicious on the inside. We devoured them all in the car on the way home. Bit of criticism: I found the meal sizes to be totally inconsistent. We ordered two medium meals and got HUGE drinks, like the extra large size from McDonald's, and yet the fries were teeny, like about the size of the palm of my hand. Very strange. My burger was tiny as well. I liked that it wasn't very greasy, but it was gone in about four bites and that's sad... Oh, and they don't have Dr. Pepper. They have Mr. Pibb. But they didn't tell me that until I asked them why it tasted off. (Yes, I can tell the difference!) I will say that the popcorn chicken was delightful and I'd come back for that and the fries alone. read more

Can I just say how much I love the song "Linger" by the Cranberries?? Alright fun fact: back in high school, I brought my lunch every single day in those four glorious years, but ONE DAY (and one day only) I got lunch with Suraj and K-Chod. We didn't come to Checkers (we went to Chipotle). I never went out for lunch because I was scared that I wouldn't get back in time for 5th period, and I didn't want to get in trouble for being late. I also liked to get to class early so I can get my notebook and pencil ready. You've got to sharpen those Ticonderogas! We went to the Chipotle after the AP Biology exam. I thought that I finally deserved a reward for never going out. But anyways, people would always come to this Checkers. I guess they ordered burgers and fries? Similarly to how I confuse Teen Wolf with the Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Twilight, or Leslie with Lesley and Kim, I always confuse Checkers with Sonic. First had Checkers a few months ago with some frail dudes, and I got the famous seasoned fries. Last week I got the Checkerburger with the garlic fries and mozzarella sticks. Be honest, who can actually spell mozzarella or am I just schmacked? The regular seasoned fries and mozzarella sticks are each 4/5. The garlic fries are egregiously wack, but then again I have stupid high expectations for garlic fries. Ever been to a San Francisco Giants baseball game? Ah you HAVE to go sometime and get the garlic fries. YAS GURL YAS The Checkerburger makes me feel like shit because that's what it's supposed to do, but otherwise the taste is excellent. read more

Great burgers and excellent specials (2 cheeseburgers for 2 bucks, or buy one get one free's). Fries are always fresh and delicious. Definitely not what you wanna eat 3 times a day, but Jesus Christ a Big Buford is f***ing amazing. Far better than any fast food competitor in my opinion. read more

I come here all the time because when I get off work its my exit to get home. They always have pretty good deals, and usually I get a nice guy who helps me and allows me to use coupons on different transactions. Last week I got a indian guy who was very adament about not letting me use two coupons which was fine and I told him I would only use one coupon and cancel my other order. I drive up to pay and he gives me the total which was something like $10.60 and I told him I no longer wanted to get the Sandwich cause I couldn't use the coupon. he rolls his eyes at me and takes the bag back and fixes the order for me, I was an idiot for not checking the bag there, I get home and find out theres no ketchup or napkins. Thanks. read more

I hardly ever eat fast food anymore, probably once every 2-3 months. I have a SUPER sensitive stomach so Checker's Big Buford burgers are the only fast junk food that suits me well. I can't even eat Wendy's anymore as of the last several years nor even Five Guys (too greasy which messes up my stomach). I tried few things on the menu but only really like the Big Bufords and the French Fries! Their french fries are AMAZING, they are like Popeye fries but much better. The Chili Cheese Fries are phenomenal too but I feel too guilty eating them so don't order them anymore. The Spicy Chicken Sandwhich is not good. The chicken patty is just too thin, it is a joke really how thin and low quality the chicken meat is. The wings are pretty good but not that memorable. I have been going here occasionally for years. The service and management is always very respectful and top notch. The odd times we do come here is when we come back from the club late at night since they are open until 3AM on Friday and Saturday nights! For a "Junk Fast Food" place I would give this place a 5/5. read more

Let me start this by being as forthright as I can possibly be, but- I HAVE NO BUSINESS EATING THIS STUFF! But d*mn! If it isn't good enough to slap somebody's grandma-I don't know what is! If you are going to eat fast food whether it be sparingly or frequently, it should be as good and artery clogging as Checkers is. The fries are the best in the business with their spicy, salty snap. The chicken sandwiches have no peer in the fast food business, and a banana milkshake? What?! Good as having a personal back-scratcher on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When my husband and I feel like committing a healthy-lifestyle sin-Checkers is our vice and supplier. read more

I had a shake and funnel cake fries. The shake is definitely thicker than most. I ordered chocolate, and as is true for other fast food places, I always wish there was more chocolate in the shake. I'd gladly pay more for a more satisfying flavor. The funnel cake fries were new to me . I enjoyed them. I didn't know I could get strawberries and whipped cream with them, so I should do that next time. I wish I could have seen the menu before pulling up to the person taking the order. I feel rushed in that situation. I may have ordered different food if I had another 30 seconds to look at the menu. read more

It's good to know that you can count on old friends. I hadn't seen my best friend - the guy who was the best man at my wedding - for nearly a year. It was his birthday last week, and I happened to be at a snoozer of a networking event in DC. I called up a mutual friend and asked if he would pick me up at Shady Grove Metro if I decided to bail out and surprise my friend for his birthday. It worked out well and I had a blast with old friends at an old watering hole (Quincy's in Gaithersburg) and my wife kindly obliged to pick me up and take me home. Having had "several" adult beverages, the late-night munchies were creeping in. But both nearby McDonald's were closed, and I figured the best I could hope for was 7-11. But another old Gaithersburg friend had my back - Checkers. Checkers is one of my guilty fast-food pleasures. I must have eaten here 100+ times in the 7 years I lived in G'burg. After a night of hanging out with my G'burg peeps my liver thanks me for moving to Manassas, but two Double Mushroom Swiss burgers sure hits the spot for a nightcap. Checkers ... thank you for being a friend. read more

I've always come to this checkers when I get my cravings. Today I decided to try the $2 shrimp box and like usual always fall for some of their "2 for" deals. The food was typical and decent but what is causing me to give one star is that I asked for a cup of water. Response? "That'll be $0.22". For tap water. I despise places that nickel and dime you. And for $0.22, you've lost a "sucker" customer who comes in looking for the $2 special and always ends up spending more than triple that. read more

I am not normally a big fast food fan, although I admit I visit the places more than I should, however last night I made an impromptu visit to Checkers and was pleasantly surprised by their new burger, the Prime Rib sandwich. Oh man, this baby's got TASTE!! I mean, I was probably really hungry and that affected my opinion of this thing, but it was certainly deeeeeeee-licious! It's got a good healthy portion of meat, nice and greasy bun that blends together nicely with the meat, and then the oh-so-flavorful caramelized onions that just puts it over the top! Man, just writing about this thing got me hungry. I'm about to run there for lunch as soon as I get these papers done! YUMMY!! Count me as a Checkers fan as long as this thing is there! read more

I was thinking to myself "I bet no one writes reviews for a lame fast food place like checkers." So I decided I should write one. But 23 other fatties beat me to it. Ok, lets get down to business. Checkers fries are hands down the best damn fast food fries on this side of the milky way. Don't believe me? I don't care. As for their burgers and stuff, its aite. I have noticed that the meat inside the burgers have gotten smaller over the years. TLDR: wait for their coupons in the mail. read more

Not that good. Maybe I'm too old to eat this kind of food, or maybe 5-Guys has ruined me for the food that once passed for good burgers. But this burger left me wanting to circle back and ask for something else. The meat tasted like it was full of filler. Most of the menu options come with cheese and variations on typical burgers: mushrooms, BBQ, bacon, etc. I had to ask for no cheese specifically because that did not seem to be a standard option. Now I see why: The meat so bland that it needs a lot of stuff on it to make it edible. read more
