I got this giant lightbulb that I have absolutely no use for
Taylor G.

I was very disappointed with my experience at cheaper by the day. I got one of the $30 mystery boxes and literally got Scammed - I received a bunch of miscellaneous stuff and a ripped duvet cover! What a great deal. Never going back and I wouldn't suggest this store to anyone. I knew the risk, when purchasing thought, would be fun, turned out to be more disappointed than anticipated. Box was said to be valued at $75... you couldn't pay me $75 to take this junk.

Pay before you open! Don't do it

I went here once. They are a resale store for returned items- they buy returned items in bulk and resale. Obviously they go through the boxes and take out the best stuff. Forget about finding the Diamond in the rough here. This place is only good if you're looking for a specific item which you can get for half-off retail. Otherwise it's expensive and stuff you don't want l. They even have a section for food which is probably all outdated. I looked at a lot of stuff and everything I saw was past the expiration date sometimes by years!!! They have boxes or pallets you can buy for a set price. Forget them. We tried a box and got pure junk. This is how they get rid of the stuff they can't sell. Mayb one item is something you can use or resell. Save your money.

The psychology of overpricing junk. I want to really like this place but I can't. Rummage through random bins to find good deals. I checked out this place once or twice and thought it was an odd place full of overpriced junk. A lot of poor-quality items here, damaged merchandise. I visited on a Friday afternoon - when the prices are highest. That being the case, I expected the bins would be well-stocked with new merchandise for the week. Nothing but junk. Nothing they advertise was available. Saw nothing in the bins worth $13. There are some interesting things here - never know what you will find. Total bait and switch tactics. The white older guy (Cheaper by the Day owner) is super rude, unfriendly, and very unprofessional. The CBTD owner doesn't value his business or customers. Seaun R. the store owner is a total grifter and smelled alcohol. If you find something like a great deal, they don't give it to you for the price of the bin. The owner changed the price on an item that was from the bin when I got to the register. Thought this would be nice but after buying 9 boxes, and one box that said: "guaranteed over $100". All items were broken, or trash. The "surprise boxes" were being filled while we were there and the dude was literally just scooping the broken stuff from the nearly empty bins into boxes. The appliances are dented and damaged and are being sold for more than buying new ones from Lowes or Best Buy.

Don't expect to show up to a perfectly organized store. You're coming to dig through bins for deals. The bins have various items from clothing, pet items, home decor, etc. I have found tons of great items. Not every time, but most the time I walk out with something great! They do have bigger ticket items that are along the wall and in other bins. I have scored a brand new portable AC unit, new dyson fan and what looked like a returned (unused) Keurig for a fraction of the cost. My biggest and best find was a factory sealed iPad Pro for $400! And and Apple Pencil for $50!!While I don't find amazing big ticket items every time, I do find them. The bins are replenished on Thursday's and all items in the bins will be $11 for the whole day. Each day the bin price drops by $2, eventually the items will all be in $1 on Tuesday. I will warn you that Tuesday $1 days are absolutely insane! The line up begins early and the shoppers that day can be very aggressive. A lot of the items that come from Amazon come in boxes so they allow you to open and see what's inside and even test it at a changing station. A lot of people trash the place by pulling everything out of the box and leave it, causing missing pieces. Don't be an asshole like that. Just put the items back for the next person. Like I said before, you may not find something amazing every time, but the more you frequent the better your chances to find something awesome will happen. They are constantly filling the bins daily. If you like the hunt and a killer deal, this place is for you! Oh I forget to mention, on Saturday all bigger ticket items are an additional 20% off. Happy hunting!

Im glad I didnt drive out here just for this spot. Im an avid thrifter and so as soon as I walked in I was excited to see the 11.00$ tiktok boxes advertised but as I walked the bins and then the outer parts of the store with furniture and appliances I was left with a very meh feeling. Lots of smart keypads for 50-250 - quite the range but ive gotten similar keypads like these in better condition at value village for under 10$ long story short pop in if you are local but id avoid if you are used to goodwill/thrift store prices. Picture is of entrance

Was extinguished before serious damage could occur. Purchased as an open-box return.

Similar experience to all the other reviews (poor customer service (stand-off'ish), trash heaped bins, saw the same waffled iron a year ago; the one thing of value I bought was an Insignia Air Fryer that cost about two-thirds of retail. I was happy with it until it caught fire while I was out walking the dog with my son. My daughter, who already has house fire trauma, was alone to extinguish the flames. She managed well since I keep extinguishers handy throughout the house, but it took a day or so for her to recover. Come to find out the air fryer was recalled due to it randomly catching fire. Would be a decent business model with better management.

Unhygienic--the place literally stinks: piles of random, rejected junk, a dystopian dump, food and funk all lumped together.

If you get a mystery box it's like Christmas, and you definitely get your moneys worth, I got well over $150 worth of stuff in the $59 mystery box.

What makes it so incredible is, the exact same fridge at Costco, also delivered, installed and old fridge hauled away, was $400 more. I got a 33" wide fridge, 26 cf bottom freezer with ice--for $1100. At Costco it was $1500. Incredible savings. Appliances 4 Less is a "scratch and dent" store that also gets returns of undamaged appliances, that's what I got. I took some time and looked around while Rouchen Zhang (Store Manager) was finishing up the sale before me. I was shocked at the low prices. When it was my turn, Rouchen explained that their store averages 40% below retail, and that was certainly my experience. Costco is cheaper than retail also, and Appliances 4 Less was substantially less than Costco! After my purchase, the delivery was scheduled 3 days out. I got a call that morning and the delivery people were on time. They hauled away the old fridge and installed the new one. They left me instructions because the refrigerant got jostled around and needed to settle, so they made sure I don't plug it too soon. If you're in the market for a new appliance, give the Lynnwood Store a call. You really can't beat the prices. As I was calling around, I found out the Tukwila Store charges EXTRA for delivery, installation and haul away ?!?! so your experience may vary if you're not at the Lynnwood Store.

Well over that 20-year time period I can probably count on one hand how many times I walked out of there with something worthwhile. For one thing the store is always in a fair amount of disarray. The racks are overcrowded. Too many items where they just have one or two things and it's really hard to find what you want in your size. A lot of stuff on the floor and if you do find something you love you have to wonder if it was stepped on or rolled over by a cart at some point. The prices probably are more reasonable if you do find something but you really got to dig. The thing that really burns my hide is the line. It's been long often in the past but it could be worthwhile if you found something. This most recent time I went the line was ridiculous. I would guess there was 35 or 40 people in line and three cashiers. The people were lined up all the way to the dressing room. I expect this if I go in Ross or the Goodwill. Not Nordstrom rack. Never again. But I want to give credit where credit is due, the cashiers despite the crushing workload where personable and did not display any stress despite the obvious frustration of everyone staring at them doing their job. Thank you for what you're doing, and hang in there ladies!

In short Looking for bargains is the smart move for anybody…read morewho has the time, and this place has 'em. Only one other shopper here really made me nervous or anything like that. In long Probably most people know the deal with these places. The stock changes all the time--they buy unsold inventory from other businesses and sell it cheap. The layout is super basic, lots of big mismatched shelving units, not a lot of merchandising. You look around, maybe see something you can use, and note the price. They do have some perishables, and some beer and wine. The alcohol selection is super big-brand stuff, but most of the perishables looked healthy enough. Probably need to get eaten soon but that's cool. The shelf-stable stuff and knickknacks are even easier to shop with confidence. We found chips and snacks and candies, some for us, some for family, nice variety, everything usually at least 50% cheaper than what mainstream stores charge. We found a Hello Kitty coffee mug for $5--that's a goofy stocking stuffer now for my sister, and at the price, even if all it gets is a laugh out of her, it's worth it. We found quite a few other things, including several pounds of wagyu ground beef, all for under $70. These days those are screaming deals. I will say that everybody seemed nice, and not everybody looked like they spend every second of their lives on a tight budget. More people said hello and beg your pardon and all that here than at most stores. Friendly. But as we were leaving, that lady in the gigantic fake leopard-skin coat with the wild hair, wrestling with the shopping carts, crashing them around and cursing, well, that played into the stereotype a bit of who shops at places like this. She almost bumped us pretty hard, but now it just seems like some amusing local color.

As I approached the self-checkout area with only five items, I noticed an associate glance at my cart, change direction, and then proceed to follow me closely to the register. When I turned to ask why, the associate replied that he could help me scan my items--while continuing to focus on the two boxes of sneakers in my cart. I explained that I was fully capable of scanning my own purchases. The way this interaction unfolded felt intrusive and gave me the impression that I was being scrutinized, rather than assisted. It left me questioning whether I was being unfairly targeted as a paying member. I came simply to make a purchase, not to feel policed. I later spoke with a manager, Dominick, who was professional and empathetic. He explained that Costco has been encouraging associates to assist more at self-checkout. While I understand and respect that initiative--particularly for heavy or bulky items--the manner in which this situation occurred came across as forced, aggressive, and unnecessary. I value Costco and have always appreciated the high standards of service and integrity your company is known for. My hope is that this feedback will be used constructively so that assistance at checkout continues to feel helpful and welcoming, rather than suspicious or invasive.
