We had a massive tree fall in our yard during a storm. My husband started the job but it became too big of a task. We also had a relatively large dead tree that needed to come down before it crushed our fence, so we started seeking professional help. When I got home from work one Friday and found the flyer from Cheap & Great Tree Services in my mailbox with a "Free Stump Grinding with Purchase" coupon, I immediately showed my husband. We had two trees removed previously but left the stumps for later. It was hard to say no! I called Cheap & Great Tree Services that Saturday afternoon and an estimator, Dani, came out to our home to assess everything later that same evening. We were quoted for not only our massive tree removal, but the dead tree, our two stumps from previous tree removals, and three debris piles of branches stacked high. We were advised they were able to get the job done the Monday following our estimate. It sounded too good to be true but it wasn't! Not only did Cheap & Great provide a quote that helped us in more ways than one during a difficult time but Manuel and his team provided top notch service!! Able to show up quickly and take care of my trees very quickly. They were extraordinarily proficient and capable. Literally able to drop trees I thought would be difficult and made it look simple and fast. They handled a big job with several large trees as well as some moderate sized ones. Took care of my existing stumps in top of the new ones as well. They gave me a good price and then went around the neighborhood offering to extend my neighbors a discount for work that day since they were already in the area. Very pleased with their work. The before is another season, but it gets across the idea. We have since planted around 11 cedars, 5 apples, 4 peach trees, and a fig. Last week my grandparents were looking to have a tree in their back yard cut down. My grandmother had an estimate done by this man in the morning and they quoted her $400. My grandmother told the man who quoted her this amount that she needed to talk to her husband about it, intending on getting some other estimates done-- not giving the man a direct yes/no answer. I went out and confronted the 5 men, 3 of which were lounging on our outdoor furniture. My grandmother arrived, and being in an unfair situation and caught completely off guard, she shortly left thereafter to get $400 out of the bank for these men. WARNING: Tree Service Company - Lack of Accountability Want to share a recent experience with Cheap & Great Tree Services in Woodstock, GA. They worked in our neighbor's yard and left unresolved damage and debris to our property...then went completely silent. During the work, massive amounts of debris fell into my yard - branches, trimmings, the works ..landing on top of the fresh pine straw I had just paid to have spread. I have video of their crew actively working as the debris was falling onto my property. Branch feel on our fence and fence was damaged in the process. I have video of one of their crew members attempting to fix it on the spot - and failing. The fence came down. When I contacted the company: They acknowledged the damage They promised to come back and make it right They never showed up They stopped responding entirely I sent photos. I sent video. Complete silence. A reputable company does not leave your yard & fence a mess and ghost them when it's time to be accountable. After providing an estimate, Daniel immediately pressured me for a $1,000 DEPOSIT Daniel left my home and came back which then changed the DEPOSIT to $500. When I decided not to move forward due to their poor reputation and reviews, Daniel became extremely aggressive. ​Despite being told multiple times to stop calling and texting me. I called my husband and told him about the harassing calls/texting from this guy.. It eventually escalated to a verbal altercation where the contractor was cussing at my husband. They took some trees down at our neighbors but in the process came through side of our yard and damaged our grass and one of the trees fell in our fence and they damaged our fence. They refused to come back out or fix fence and then I discovered they took advantage of another person an elderly woman in our neighborhood and over charged her thousands. Do not use this company. I asked them to top off my 6 magnolias and then thin out a few branches. I came outside after they had done 3 of them and saw they had cut almost ALL of the branches off, leaving a tall, almost bare 25 ft trunks! I call it a huge BUTCHER job. This company removed a tree from my yard illegally, without getting permits from the city. I received a fine for $2,400 as a result. I called them upon receiving it and they assured me that they had gotten permits and would promptly resolve the issue and call me back. Having not heard from them for several days, I tried calling again. Call went straight to voicemail. Odd. Called several more times over the next few days. All straight to voicemail. Tried calling from my wife's phone and it goes straight through and I talk to the guy at the office again. He tells me again everything was done right and he's follow up with me. Call back from my wife's phone and they had blocked her number as well. These guys are absolute scammers do not use their service. While removing the tree they also destroyed my mailbox and dropped the tree right into the street breaking the asphalt!!!! read more

I had a relatively small job that most other tree services wouldn't even quote me. They arrived the same day I called with a quote and started the work a few hours later. There was a lot of debris that didn't fit on their truck so they said they'd come back later. I expected them to come back the next day but they returned at 6:30pm to remove the debris and said they'd grind the stumps the following day. Which they did bright and early. Reliable work, fair price and fast service. I highly recommend this company. read more

Don't use them!!! We just used them today and they hung up on me when I called having an issue. They over charged and didn't do what they said they would. Tried to call to get info what went wrong and they hung up on me mid convo. They sent a 35% coupon in the mail and my husband didn't realize it so when I asked about it, he said it was the price with the coupon. They asked my husband what the other companies charges and he told them (he shouldn't have done that). This company reduced the price by $300 than other companies. When I called to say we had the coupon, they said they inclided the coupon. If thats truly the case, they are WAY OVERPRICED!!! We were going to have them cut down 3, 2 struck by lightning the insurance was going to pay for and one we were having done. They told my husband they'd come cut the one and wait for the other 2 for the insurance to give us the money. They got here this morning and cut ALL 3 DOWN, so we had to pay for all of them which we didn't have the insurance money yet. I called Cheap and Great Tree service to give me a quote to take a tree down at my home located in Brookhaven, GA. When they came out they looked at the tree and gave me a quote of $1,750 and mentioned that they would get the permit needed to take down the tree. They also mentioned they have done a lot of work in Brookhaven and know how to get the permit easily. I refused that service and told them I would get the permit myself. They charged me a down payment of $750 to schedule the appointment which I paid on credit card. They left my property and I immediately started working on the permit. When I went to the city of Brookhaven website to submit for the permit, the site mentioned that Cheap and Great Trees was prohibited to do work in Brookhaven. I even called the city of Brookhaven and asked them why it showed prohibited and they mentioned they are not allowed to do any work in Brookhaven. I called the company back and told them I need my deposit back because they aren't allowed to do work. The receptionist that answered the phone said she would talk to the owner and multiple days went by without receiving any update. When I called the 4th time they told me they don't provide refunds and I wouldn't get my money back. I disputed the charge on my credit card and finally got the money back. This is a company that operates unethically and I believe they have lied about getting permits in cities where they say they are getting them, especially in Brookhaven where they said they have done a lot of work and received permits. This company needs to be shut down and their business license revoked. I believe they have changed their name a couple times already and likely because they have been in trouble before. read more

Fairly high starting quote, then when I told them I'm getting another couple of estimates the salesman got progressively pushier while lowering down to 1/4 of starting quote. Even then I still said no because I'm just getting quotes. Got to the point of being rude and pushy so I walked away. The pushiness, rudeness, and aggressiveness and final quote also seemed way too good to be true. They also seemed upset with me when I asked for a copy of all their insurance coverages before I committed or signed anything. When I told them they were actually starting to freak me out, they got more pushy. I decided that if I can't trust them to give me a quote without drama, I can't trust them to do business at my house. As I walked away to go back into my house they yelled at me a little more. These company trespassed onto my property to trim my privately owned trees. They did not have permission to come onto my property and climb my trees, they climbed up a neighboring fence, and then crossed over into my property and onto my trees. Not only is that illegal, it is irresponsible. Avoid these people at all costs. If they ever set foot only my property again they will be criminally trespassed and sued. read more
