I have used Southeast Tree twice now. First time was for 3 96 ft+ pine trees to be removed. These trees were close to Lower Roswell Rd-- a real hazard for power lines or falling and taking out my house or blocking a busy road. This team was amazing and did this with such precision. I was so impressed. They were on time, quick and courteous. I highly recommend them for dangerous tree removal. I hired them the 2nd time for the removal of 7 different kind of trees in my yard. I had to have a fallen tree removed several months ago, and as a result of reviews and ratings, I contacted SoutheastTree.com. The owner, Colin Dunkley, was knowledgeable, very friendly, and seemed professional. We discussed additional work, and shortly thereafter he provided an estimate, which I compared to other bids I had received, and as a result I agreed to have his company do the work. Colin reassured me that his crew would come with all the necessary equipment and skill to get the job done properly and thoroughly. When his crew, headed by Chris, showed up, they removed the fallen tree in a relatively short period of time, and did some of the other work as well, Chris didn't seem to comprehend what I wanted, and as a result, some of the work was done reasonably well, and some of the work seemed inappropriate. The crew seemed apprehensive about access to some of the tree branches I wanted removed, and along with not trimming to the degree I wanted, they finished in two hours, rather than the three I had expected, due to Colin's mentioning to me what his crews' hourly rate was. They also left empty plastic water bottles strewn around both my yard and my next-door-neighbor's yard. Since he was unavailable to speak with at the time, and communication with the crew was less than ideal, I wrote a check to SoutheastTree.com and decided to take up the discrepancy with Colin later, as he had repeatedly said that he always wants his customers to be completely happy, and that he would do what it takes to make sure that this policy applied to me. I have contacted Colin Dunkley a number of times since then, and, always friendly and reassuring, he promised to come by my house to discuss my concerns. This is a promise he has yet to fulfil, and each time I tried to contact him, he either did not show up when he said he would, or he would say that he would get back in touch with me... which of course he did not. An acceptable solution would be for him to refund the appropriate amount of the substantial fee, as I am no longer confident that further work would be done properly, if at all. When I was in business, my attitude was to always deliver more than I promised, and I lived up to this goal. Southeast Tree is great for so many reasons. From booking through completion, they were professional, hardworking, conscientious, and kind. Chris, our point person and lead on the job, is terrific. I cannot say enough good things about him. And his team is amazing. They are fearless, as you'll see in the photos. First, they put down wood planks to protect our yard, then in a little more than 4 hours, they handily took down a 70 ft, double-trunk white oak that was way too close to, and towered over, our new (to us) home. And they cleaned up afterwards, going above and beyond. When the gale force winds were blowing recently, the tree trunks were swaying so much we feared they would crash onto our house. I called Southeast and 3 days later they were on the job. Another reason to hire them - they have the best price out there. I called several companies for estimates and was shocked at what I was quoted. Southeast is fair and affordable. We'd give 10 stars if we could. read more

Hired Southeast tree to remove a dead poplar tree behind my house but on the outside of my fence. I asked that they call me before they down the tree. They did not call me and I saw their crew on my property in process of cleaning up after downing the tree. I wanted some of the wood for firewood but they had already run it thru the grinder. I called to pay them and they would not accept credit card without a 3.5% upcharge. I advised that I did not know of this prior to engaging them. I was told that they notified me when they emailed their quote. I went back and checked and found that their notification of the surcharge was hidden in an attachment to the quote which did not automatically open. THe quote itself did not mention a surcharge. If I had known this was their policy I would not have used this company. Their handling of this was devious and purposefully buried. Colin was unyielding about this fee and at the least should present his terms/conditions upfront and within his quotes. read more

The crew did half the job I wanted and left. They said to me that they would come back later in the day but that was the last I heard from them. I had to engage another company to finish the job. I then asked Southeasttree for a receipt for the payment I made but they never provided me with it. I will never use them again. read more

I've used this company several times for large jobs at both of my properties. They had a great price and they cleaned up our yard right away. Colin the crew & the office staff were great to work with. They do get busy, but that is a good indicator of there popularity. Gave a very fair price for some difficult tree removal work (leaning over the house at a pretty severe degree). I had 4 full grown trees removed total. I got another quote from an off the books type guy who priced it double what southeast tree quoted me, and for only 3 of those trees. The Owner, Colin, is a trained arborist and was very helpful in identifying another tree that would give me issues down the road at my new home. If you're between two companies and even if these guys are a little higher, go with southeast tree. They do impressive work, timely, are responsive, and were generally a pleasure to work with. He even threw stump grinding into the price and was still half the off books guy's price. 10/10 recommend. read more

Do not bother, they were 45 minutes late to a appointment, when I called to see what the deal was, the receptionist gave tons of attitude and then hung up on me. So glad they showed their true colors before coming onsite. If this was my business, I would hate that's it being run like this. I strongly recommend NOT to hire Colin for your next tree removal project. The price he quotes you and the work he suggests he will do is not correct. You will not get what's on paper, instead you'll a different price and the so call "free of charge small tree removal", dead wrong and a lie. Also, he doesn't have his crew clean up existing brush and branches as suggested in the estimate. His crew is messy and if it rains and they track mud everywhere, including on your siding - Colin will blame mother nature and has no intentions of cleaning up after his crew. I still have mud stains on my siding. When first meeting Colin he said he grinds his own stumps - WRONG. He hires a third-party Ness Stumps Grinding - awful company as well. It rained a lot during this tree removal process, so I understood it would take longer to complete but Colin even knowing the weather and the three days of sunshine in between still managed to promise completion on the sunny day but it was a lie and instead after two and half weeks of hearing from Colin "The stump grinders cannot come out because of the rain and the ground is too wet" I LITERALLY HAD THESE GUYS SHOW UP IN THE RAIN - WET AS A RIVER GRINDING STUMPS because Colin said I was making it difficult to get his money --- mind you this guy hadn't even finished the project. Colin showed up at least 4 different times asking for money before the project was complete. I wouldn't even be off work yet or home and Colin would be waiting at my doorstep practically begging for money "because payroll was coming up". If you must beg your clients for an advance on money, you haven't rightfully earned yet, that's a major red flag on you not knowing how to run a business. I felt sad for him. read more

Where do I start? They have damage my property and say that they're coming and they do not show up. This company is a joke customer service is horrible. I hired Colin, and his team, because I thought I was receiving a fair price, and he appeared to be very professional. Turns out it was a mistake. I paid him $1,700 in full before I saw the work (admittedly this was my mistake). They left huge craters in my lawn (over 7 feet in length) from dropping sections of tree. My lawn was completely destroyed, even though he told me they would put down boards to protect the grass. I also now have a stump with green spray paint on top of it because his stump grinder never removed a stump that I paid him to remove. After I sent Colin the pictures of my lawn he told me that it was unacceptable and he would do everything he could to make sure it was repaired properly. For over a month he was responsive to calls, but came up with one excuse after another on why it was not repaired yet. Finally after two months, he does not respond at all. When I call the office, the receptionist tells me "the owner is looking into it". Please do yourself a favor and hire a different company. read more

I live in East Cobb and needed 5 trees taken down and 8 others trimmed. I called 3 companies for quotes - SE Tree was very reasonable so I went with them. Sure am glad I did. They showed up right on time with a 6-man crew who quickly scoped out the job with me and got to work. They were all polite and professional and had obviously worked together a lot. I was out splitting the wood while they worked and they gave me help getting the hydrolic splitter set up and situated. They worked efficiently and quickly, did minimal damage to surrounding trees/shrubs, were very cautious around the house, and cleaned up pretty well after themselves. My neighbor came by (he's particular about who he hires) and he ended up hiring them to take down a couple of difficult trees in his yard. Also, David (?) the crew leader was really good about consulting with me on the trimming and on how they were going to tackle the job. They finished by lunchtime on a job I thought would take all day, so needless to say I am impressed by their work. Great experience, reasonable rate, and high recommendations from me. Disappointed to be writing this, Colin had done work for me before and did a great job at a reasonable price. To add insult to injury, I like the guy. This time however, his guys came out and removed part of the tree until their truck was full, left for the day, and never came back to finish the job. I talked with them multiple times and each time they said they would come back to complete the work. After 2 weeks I gave up and did it myself. I feel stupid for paying them before the job was complete. Shame on me. read more

After the first missed appointment, I called Collin and he said he would personally come the following evening between 5:30 and 6:00 to my house. I left work to be home by 5:30 and he never showed. We have been working to resolve an issue with them for over a year. In essence a neighbor was having a tree cut and was told by the crew they would drop the tree on their property. Instead, the crew dropped the tree on our driveway. They did so without trimming the tree so when it hit the driveway, the weight caused a section where it hit to drop about an inch. We tried to work with the CEO Colin over the past year and even have a voicemail from him saying he would make it right. At one point, we had an appointment where we took off work to meet him and his concrete person...but they no-showed us. We even had our own concrete company come out and offered to fix it ourselves and accept a credit for future tree work but he won't even return a phone call (multiple tries). Maybe it was just this crew or maybe it was a one time thing or maybe it is a trend since there is a similar review years ago. Southeast Tree removed a large dead/dying oak from my property. Before even agreeing to use them, they secured a permit for me with no obligation. (Saving me what I can imagine would have been quite a hassle.) Access to the tree was severely limited, but the crew was able to drop the tree with minimal damage to the surrounding landscaping. Hired them to cut my cypress tree in March 2017 because of people wrote great reviews about this company. So I gave it a try. What a joke? First, I have a newly replaced zoysia grass on my front lawn. They drove their truck on my front lawn without my permission. I wasn't happy about this. Colin, the owner, checked his team, after the fact and saw the truck right on top of my gorgeous grass. He noticed that I wasn't happy about this. When their truck left, the tires made a few marks on my grass. His company destroyed my personal property! He sent me an e-mail that he will replace it when it starts to turn green so he can assess the areas needed replacement. We're now in summer, the grass are green and very easy to see the damage of their truck. I sent him an e-mail. He replied a few days later that he'll check the area. A month came by and still haven't heard from him. I sent him another follow-up e-mail and didn't hear anything back. I called his company and left a message to his receptionist. Still nothing. I gave him many chances. So far his e-mail and words are all lies. He cannot be trusted. I wouldn't even recommend his business to anyone. read more
