To get good results, you have to pay attention to the details. Just like a quality thermometer to pull that brisket at the right time, you need quality clean burning dry wood. I have a box of Smoak Firewood cherry, white oak, hickory and pecan at the ready at all times, if I get an urge to grill out or smoke on my PK360 or Cookshack. Every box appears to be hand picked, and clean and fresh but most importantly it's kiln dried. Having several boxes at the ready allows me to pick and match the wood to the thing I'm cooking. The owner Amy and staff are incredible folks that can answer any questions you have and even provide appropriately sized pieces. I'd much rather give my money to a local small business like this. If I'm remembering right, I believe they also supply several restaurants with cooking wood. This wood is even packaged so nice, it would be a great gift for a foodie! If you need some on a Saturday or while in Newnan or Sharpsburg it's also available at Cleaver & Cork.

It was a little more expensive than some, but the quality is better than anything I've had before. Why does that matter? It starts easily but burns much longer. The pieces aren't from a trash tree, no rotten sections, perfectly split and clean. My full wood rack will last much longer than the cheaper products I've used in the past. I am a huge fan.

The big deal to me is when you order wood, is how much wood you are getting from the provider? I've…read morebeen buying firewood for over 40 years and in the last 5 years it has become more difficult to find a seller who knows how to measure wood. You'll find plenty of companies that sell "cords, truckloads, ricks, stacks, etc." I always buy a "true" cord. A "truckload"-think a Ford F-150, will barely hold a 1/3 cord. If you want a "cord"of wood, then you better make sure that you understand the difference between a "face cord" and a "true cord. A "true" cord of wood is a standard measurement used to quantify firewood. It is defined as a stack of wood that measures 4 feet high, 4 feet wide, and 8 feet long, totaling 128 cubic feet of wood. A "face" cord, on the other hand, refers to a stack of wood that is typically 4 feet high and 8 feet long, but the depth can vary. The most common depth for a face cord is 16 inches, which is a common length for cut logs. This means a face cord contains about one-third of a full cord, or approximately 42.7 cubic feet of wood. In summary: - Cord: 128 cubic feet (4' x 4' x 8'). - Face Cord: Typically 42.7 cubic feet (4' x 8' x 16"). Make sure to clarify which measurement is being used when purchasing firewood. It takes 3 "face" cords to equal 1 "true"cord! I texted Matt at North Atlanta Firewood to confirm the measurement of a "true" cord of wood. Their website clearly shows the measurements of all the wood that they sell, but I just wanted to be certain as my previous purchases from other providers over the last few years didn't "measure up" to what was promised, both in size and quality of the firewood. Matt arranged for a delivery of Oak firewood a couple days later and texted me the evening before with a 2 hour time window for delivery. The next day, I received another text from the delivery guys telling me that they were 15 minutes away-right on time! The 2 young guys that delivered were extremely pleasant. The stacking site was not that easy to get to, but they worked very hard getting the wood to that site, with a smile on their faces the entire time. When finished, we measured the wood pile and it was, as hoped for, a "true"cord-128 cubic feet. I gave them both a nice tip-(they worked, very, very hard). The quality of the wood and the delivery service was exactly what I had hoped for. I have already referred my neighbor to Northside Firewood and will absolutely use them again. Do yourself a favor, buy from Northside as they know how to measure firewood, in any amount that you want. You will get great firewood at a terrific price, from nice people.

Well, I wish I could have provided this business with a more favorable score. I am always looking…read morefor businesses in my neighborhood to support. It is that time of year when I go out to purchase my firewood for the season. I decided to give this location a try as they deliver and it if fairly close to my home. Since I have been burned before whenever trying a new location for firewood I purchase a small amount and then the larger amount depending on my satisfaction. I went to the lot and everyone was very cordial and I obtained the pricing on larger loads from a nice gentleman named Nick. Upon getting home and attempting to burn this wood it was clear fairly early on that the wood was green and definitely not ready to be used as firewood. I have been burning wood since the age of 17 on the farm and am now almost 60, so I know green wood. I called the number listed on the company website and got Darryl whom I assume is the owner of the company. He apologized for the problem and said we could exchange the wood the following day. He was was professional in his approach to the complaint. We arranged a time for a call and Darryl called the following morning and indicated that he wanted to meet a bit later and I informed him that that was fine as I was also getting a late start to the day. He said he would call me when he was done running the errands he was doing and would give me plenty of time to be able to come to the lot for the exchange. Well I am still waiting on the call. I did not attempt to call Darryl again because when I spend money with a business, I am not going to chase you to rectify a bad situation. I have already been inconvenienced by the sale being not being what was promised the first time around and secondly, when I have to come out again to the lot to now exchange the wood. So thank you ArborServ that single sale is all you will ever see of my money, and for those of you seeking firewood I would go elsewhere.

I used Georgia Landscape for about 15 years for firewood but they stopped offering that service…read morelast year, so had to find another provider. The wood that I got from the provider last year was just fine but It wasn't a true cord. The big deal to me is when ordering a cord-what are you going to get? You'll find plenty of companies that deliver "by the truckload" and by "half cord/cord", etc. However if they tell you that they are selling a "cord" of wood, it is critical to know how they measure that cord. A true cord is 4'x4'x8' or 128 cubic feet. A typical full size pickup truck with 8' bed will hold at most about 1/2 cord. A "face" cord is 8'x4' with a typical length of wood about 16". So with a face cord you are only getting about 1/3 of a true cord. Be very careful and ask exactly what their definition is of a cord and only pay for what you want and expect to get. Now to Champion Yard Services. I found them on my Nextdoor App where they advertised the sale of wood. They showed pictures of the wood (like many companies do) and quoted prices for different sizes-1/2 cord, full cord and what it would cost to either deliver and stack, deliver and carry to a place not directly where they bring the truck to, or self pickup. They indicated that the cord size was a true cord or 4'x4'x8'= 128 cubic feet All costs were clearly disclosed-they hid nothing. I emailed them 2 times to make sure that the cord was a true cord in measurement and they assured me it was, so I ordered 2 cords and asked them to look at Google maps so they could see that my driveway was on a hill and my stacking point was up 12 steps and about 45 feet from the parking area. In other words, not the easiest delivery and I held my breath hoping that I'd get what I was paying for. They delivered as scheduled, one day after the order was made. The 2 cords of wood were in "cages" exactly as shown on the website and the wood was exactly like the pictures-no "file" photos-no tricks. In addition they sent 4 guys to haul the wood to my backyard. It wasn't an easy job (I've done it many times myself) and the guys worked very hard for about 2 hours without any complaints-very nice guys-all pleasant and very polite. The next day Jimmy the owner called to make sure that I was happy with the wood and the delivery. I can say without question I got exactly what I hoped to get-2 cords; the wood is clean, appears to be aged at least a year, no "scrapes" or tiny pieces of wood, no filler wood (pine) and exactly the length that was expected (about 16"-18"). I paid what I think was a fair price for the wood and the labor. I recommend them without any hesitation and will use them again. I hope that your experience will be as good as mine--
