I went to Chau needing a quick turnaround for a dress and a jacket I bought online; custom made, from Africa. The dress and jacket were lined. The dress needed to be let out in the waist and chest and the jacket needed to be taken in on the sides. She made quick work of what could have easily been mangled and made both look like they hadn't even been altered, but came that way! They fit me perfectly after the first alteration. I even got them both back before my deadline. Her prices were reasonable for the quality of work she does. I just took another custom made online purchase; this time from Poland, to her to today... Thank God for Yelp! I have A wedding to attend next week and had a dress that I needed altered in time to attend. I immediately got on yelp and did a search and the very first result was Chau's Alterations. After reading the reviews I knew this was the place I had to go. I have to start by saying this is my very first experience getting anything altered, anywhere. But Anne at Chau's made this the most pleasant experience ever. After a very short introduction and she had me try on my dress and pinned it to perfection. When I explained to her that this was my first experience and I had found her shop on yelp she was so happy to hear that other reviews brought me in. I told her "THEY WERE ALL TRUE!" Anne is very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable about alterations. I dropped the dress off on Thursday and she let me know it would be ready the follow Wednesday. Perfect timing for the wedding next weekend. There was a moment another customer came in while I was changing and even overhearing thier conversation proved to me why Chau's has been in business for so long. The most expensive alterations shop I have ever been to! I have tried her 3 times out of location convenience and she has been almost double. This last time I brought in a basic pair of athleisure no lining, cotton straight hem. My regular alterations girl (much farther away) charges 18.00. Anne quoted me 30 maybe 35 she said. I told her that her prices were too high and that I would not be back. I was in my car on my phone and she came out and "knocked on my window" and told me she would match the price and would honor that rate on all my "basic athleisure hems" going forward. I reluctantly went inside and told her I appreciate her wanting my business. I went in again yesterday same athleisure pant. She said 30.00! I was floored since she made such a deal the previous week. I reminded her of her last conversation the week prior and she said no just one time at that price I do a good job so I charge more. NOPE! not true. I told her I would NEVER be back and I will not. I know many ppl who will not use her do to her inconsistent and high pricing. read more

Amazing work. I need a pair of tuxedo pants hemmed same-day for a wedding and they were able to do it, no problem. They also had me try on the jacket "just in case" and realized it needed alteration too! So friendly and helpful. I highly recommend coming here. I wore a hole in my favorite 30 in inseam jeans. Bought another two of the same pair but they only had 32 inch in stock. Came in asking to be hemmed to 30 inch. She asked me to try them on, I told her I usually wear my jeans with heeled cowboy boots and will need the length longer than how they would look with the sneakers I was wearing. I was argued with repeatedly and we agreed on 29 inch. Picked them up and they're 28 inch. Ripping out the seams as we speak. Was also told they would do their best to match the thread color. Light denim with light brown original stitching and black hems.... Not impressed. Make sure you bring the shoes with you. read more

We go to Chau's for ALL our alterations. They are masters, and always give prompt service with a smile, and very fair prices. You can trust them with anything from a wedding dress to a favorite pair of sweatpants. I just had them repair a broken zipper on my purse. They even replaced the Velcro on a pair of shoes! I am now much less likely to discard favorite things because I know Chau can make it new again. I bought a soft, stretchy knit jump suit from StitchFix, and despite it being petite length, I still needed it hemmed. I spent a couple of weeks researching how to sew the fabric and just wasn't comfortable doing it at home. I brought it in to Chau's and it was hemmed to perfection by Anne within 24 hours. I'm very glad that I took it there instead of trying to do it myself and possibly messing it up. Anne is very friendly and I will use Chau's in the future if I need alterations on other pieces!
