Unfortunately, Mr. Lee's English is poor and he is dismissive of your questions. I had to bring back 2 pairs of jeans that he had already altered but he left too long. I asked him when I first brought them in if he could shorten them a little more but he waved me away. My first mistake. I brought a 3rd pair that were overly flared and asked him to leave them boot cut with a light flare. He pinned them in a way that looked too skinny. I asked him to change it and again he waved me off and dismissed me. My second mistake was to assume that he knew what he was doing or understood me. He gave me back tapered pants. I asked for bootcut. He does not listen. That cost me about $250 in loss since the pants look ridiculous now and I don't wear them. read more

3.5 stars for "the best tailor in the world." Yes, I paid a lot of money to get two pairs of pants taken in and hemmed by Mr. Lee. He spent a fair amount of time telling me how he was "the best tailor in the world", and he spent a fair amount of time measuring and marking my new jeans for alterations. But the proof is in end result, and this is where my experience at Lee's went a little sideways. Read on fellow Yelper... The two pair of jeans I got for xmas gifts were not cheap. I was told that they were $300 for both pairs - more than I would spend, but they were gifts. They needed to be taken in at the waist and hemmed. Lee's is 5 stars here on Yelp, so I go with high expectations. I get measured up, and I get his personal spiel about how great he is. I come back about a week later for pickup. I take the jeans home and find the waist to be perfect but the length is way too short. When measured I had asked that the pants be left long, and they looked ok at the shop, but instead they were altered so that the bottoms fall well above the heel, not appropriate with even a no-heeled shoe. Lee charged over $100 for the work and at this point the $300 jeans with $100+ in alterations are Goodwill material. I bring the jeans back to Lee. He has no explanation but takes the pants for more work. A few days later Lee has added a half inch, and the jeans are perfect length. Unfortunately there is now a seam where he added the material. It's not totally invisible, and certainly not what you would want. My waist alterations were a little complicated, and I have to hand it to Mr. Lee that the waist was perfect. But the seemingly simple hemming was inexplicably way too short, and the subsequent fix is less than perfect. Sounds like I got the sizzle and not the steak. Lee's may be good, but based on this job he's got a ways to go to become the best tailor in the world. read more

I have lots of good things to say regarding Mr. Lee and his business. First, I have been very satisfied with the work as well as the friendliness of the store. His family works there as well, and they're all friendly Korean people. Always helpful and cheerful. I have experience using Mr. Lee's services for taking in sport coats, my dress & casual shirts, and 1 time a pair of jeans. He is very experienced, and able to correct issues due to the design of shirts, for example, and explains why when fitting your shirt (or whatever garment) with pins for tailoring it. Don't expect bottom-dollar pricing. You can't expect to get good work for next to nothing. That being said, his prices are similar to other shops, to my knowledge, but I've been happy with the results. Basically, in my case I mostly had shirts tailored. In some instances simply taking it in on the sides isn't enough, and wouldn't give the proper fit. They had to be adjusted properly in the back as well, and Mr. Lee's & his family were able to do so and the results were very nice! It can really make a big difference how a man looks when wearing clothes that have been properly altered to fit him. I would recommend avoiding Crabapple road during the "rush hour" time of the day (after work, say 5-6pm) due to the really heavy traffic. Try to schedule visiting at easier times of the day. Mr. Lee did a fantastic job shortening a Burberry raincoat with zip liner. The coat style is timeless, but I haven't worn it for years, because we lived in the desert. Perfection! I had a gown shortened for the first time. The first local place I went to wanted $85 which I thought was pricey. I came to Lee's and they did it for $50 and had a much better hem than the first place showed me (it looked like the original double stitch instead of a single). Mr. Lee spent a very long time perfecting the bottom of the dress with over 50 safety pins and making sure the dress flowed as I walked. The first place just marked it with chalk in 3 places. The work Lee did was fine but his business practices are unethical. I took my wedding dress in and asked for some length taken off the bottom and the sleeves taken in and for it to be done next week. He said he could do it and began pinning the dress and then I prepaid for the work. I thought this was a strange policy as I haven't had to prepay for alteration work at other places but I agreed to his $140 price without haggling and left. When I went to pick up my dress it looked good so I changed back into my clothes and started to leave. Mr. Lee stopped me and said there was a $50 extra charge for "extra work". I politely and firmly told him I didn't ask for extra work. He then says it's because he didn't know there would be so many layers to the dress. I reminded him that he counted the layers when he gave me the original price. He tries once more saying he added a bustle to the dress and points to the ribbon attached to the train that you use to hang the dress. He must of thought I didn't know it was there before I took my dress in, but the reality is that the ribbon there is standard with my dress model. I firmly said "Thank you for your work Mr. Lee" and walked out, in shock that he tried to swindle me at the last minute. $50 in "extra work" he didn't even do and I didn't ask for! Customer beware at Mr. Lees. Trust your instinct and be firm or you might get taken advantage of. read more

I took my husband's white dress shirt there for a monogram on the sleeve and it was done beautifully... so I brought 2 more to be done and that's where the trouble started. I chose the same design and color as before, but when I went to pick them up, not only were they not the right design (font), it was tiny and done badly...not straight and the letters were not all filled in with embroidery. Mr Lee said his son had done the work and was both rude and unprofessional; he kept saying "you take like this" and insisted it could not be done over when I asked for that. When I said I could not accept the shirt like that he reluctantly agreed to remove the cuffs and replace them, reminding me that he will lose money on it. He also had the nerve to say when the work was done " you no come back". I told him that would not be a problem, and said I don't understand why the first shirt was so perfect and these so bad. He was surprised at that and told me to bring the first one in as that was the only way the monogram could be duplicated, despite the fact that I had chosen the style from his book. The end result was not great; he did not replace the cuffs, but tore out the old monogram and re-did it, and that too, had gaps in all the letters with the white shirt showing through. I sat and waited half an hour while he fixed it. I will never go back there... read more
