I went to Chau's because of all the great reviews - 700+ reviews on Google, 4.9 stars, so my experience appears to be an outlier. I dropped off an expensive pair of size 0 suit pants and a few other items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I dropped off, I was asked to leave a review, and said I couldn't because the service hadn't been provided yet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I picked up my items without trying on, and didn't realize until after the shop closed that my pants had been swapped w/ large black trousers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I left a voicemail explaining the situation and that I needed my pants ASAP for a work trip, and they opened the store on Sunday, so that I could come in and help search for them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ultimately found them, and the cost of hemming them was refunded. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They asked me to delete my review, and followed up twice in the hours since I left the shop, which felt a bit pushy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do appreciate the efforts to resolve and intended to update my review anyway.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I understand that everyone makes mistakes, but the process was still frustrating and stressful. Outrageously overpriced and not at all friendly. I have gone in twice. Once she quoted me $40 to shorten a shirt with a basic hem. Most recently she quoted me $60 to take in my daughter's strapless dress. I really don't like writing bad reviews for places, especially small businesses, but please take your money elsewhere. All I needed was to take the sleeves off of my 4 year old's dress. After picking up the dress and looking at the "alteration", they literally just cut the sleeves off with scissors. No sewing, stitching or hemming. Anne originally quoted me $40 and I negotiated to $20. I paid $20 to have someone cut sleeves off of a dress with scissors. I was scammed. Please be careful!! read more

Anne is very sweet, I will say that. I just feel like I was overcharged/they are expensive and I regret not shopping around more. I was charged $80 to hem a regular David's Bridal bridesmaid dress about an inch and a half (simple polyester with a lining). Then I was charged $120 to hem satin dress pants and bring in a satin suit jacket. I tried to pick it up before she started because I was having buying remorse but she had already finished them. She did give me a $5 discount and try to convince me I got a good price, but I really regret it after seeing prices other places. Also, they take cash, Venmo, or Zelle so you can't use a credit card which is a major con for me. I also got a quote for my wedding dress and she estimated $800. Thankfully I had previously gotten a quote from another specifically bridal place for $535 so I knew that was too much and brought it back home. I'm sure the quality here is always good, but I just think you could get similar elsewhere and for less. read more

I had my fiancé go to a tailor to get measured for his wedding suit. He chose Chau's because they had good ratings. After being measured my fiancé asked the owner what size suit he should order from the suit maker we were getting his suit from. Mr Chau told him to get a 44R even though my fiancé normally wears a 42R. My fiancé trusted Mr. Chau's opinion and so ordered the larger size. His suit arrived and my fiancé took it back to Chau's to get altered. He picked up the suit without trying it on and brought it home. Thankfully, I had him try on the suit a few weeks before our wedding to make sure that it looked OK. It looked awful. All they did was hem the pants and shortened the sleeves slightly and my fiancé paid $130 for that. They did not take the waist which was way too big nor did they do anything with the jacket that was way too big because it was a whole size too big. We took the suit back to Chau's to see if they could remedy the situation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as my fiancé tried on the jacket in front of the owner, he declared that the jacket was too big to which I said "well... You are the one who told him to order the 44R". He proceeded to say that it was not his fault and that my fiancé just had narrow shoulders and a big chest, which is completely inaccurate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He flatly refused to fix the shoulders saying he did not have enough time even though there was still a few weeks before the wedding. He was also going to charge $120 to fix the shoulders if we forced him to. He said that he would take in the jacket and the waist and maybe tuck in the under arms a bit to see if that would help. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked why none of this was done the first time my fiancé came to have alterations done, but the owner could not explain that. Just kept repeating that it wasn't his fault.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came back a second time and had the suit tried on again and it still looked horrible. My fiancé said it felt like they hadn't done anything to the waist of the pants and the jacket still needed to be taken in quite a bit. We told them that they needed to alter it yet again and I made sure that he pinned it and marked the pants instead of just eyeballing it and saying he knew what to do. Just picked up the suit and my fiancé tried it on yet again. The fit is still not great. It is better than what it was, but considering how much money he spent on the suit from Scotland and the fact that it is a high-quality tweed It's ridiculous that it doesn't look better. We will definitely have to take it to a different tailor to have it fixed after the wedding if he wants to wear it again. All in all this was an absolutely horrible experience and we definitely would not recommend. read more

They tailored my suit exactly how I wanted it to be and did so in a timely manner! This is only place I go for alterations in Alpharetta.

Getting charged $85 at the most for just one sports jacket sleeves shortened doesn't seem like a very reasonable price. Especially when they don't alter it from the shoulders but just from cutting and sawing from the end.. Wow.. After I posted this review, I had 7 missed calls from them in a row.. Can anybody guess why they are calling me about? To change my review? This is more like they are harassing me.. I consider myself as a very honest guy and as you can see in the picture, I took the same jackets to the other experienced place and they only asked me for $140 for four jackets compared $265 what they asked for. The only advice that I can give to the customers is to shop around more before you drop off your clothes and ask for price! Because, I don't really think that 32yr experienced place can charge $125 more than 28yr experienced place. Wherever I go, there shouldn't be this much of price gap which is almost the double! I would highly consider you take your business else where. Her prices are extremely high. I came in to bring a pair of jeans altered and she charged me about the cost of my free people jeans. I wish I didn't get them hemmed there but she only gives pricing after she measures. The reason why she told me it cost so much was because she was keeping the original hem. I used to work at an alterations shop so I know the max for an original hem jeans should be no more than $50. Around $35 if you are just shortening the leg but not keeping the original hem. She charged me $85 cash. Won't be returning back. read more
