Tonite the omg bartender (her) I would have gotten her name but she was to busssie chatting it up with her friend !!!! Even when I tipped big still no go!!! Not untill I pulled my tip back and then she said I owed dher money for a another round !!! And she says her hearing is great, just can't hear I need another round !! It should not be this hard to buy a drink or two !!!! Owner do you her me I !!! Drop dead weight and move on to some one that will put paying guest in front of her friends !! Man this place is pretty cool and chilled out. Came here on a Thursday, where they had open mic comedy which was pretty cool. Got tap beers for 5$ and well drinks for 7$. People are quick to call this place a dive bar, but what is a dive bar really? What I would consider to be a dive bar most people would not get all dressed up to go to. So what is the Chatterbox? To me, it's the box. A box. A place with friendly and familiar faces. Bartenders that I would gladly hand my debit card to, knowing that I'll have just enough left to make an early morning run to the closest fast food establishment. Yes it can be a sausage fest but what do you expect with such cheap prices. My advice.. Guys..Make a few female friends and take them to the box. If another group of guys does the same and so on and so on..More girls!! Plus men are more attractive to women when in the company of other women. Boom! Problem solved! Pull up to the bar. My friends and I decided to leave the fate of our Saturday night to fellow Yelpers of Covina. We were in the mood for a local dive bar and Chatterbox came up after a quick search. With a rate of 4/5 stars, we decided to check it out. It's a typical dive bar atmosphere with locals drinking and having a good time. Different genres of music selected to play on the jukebox. Thank goodness it wasn't the typical power 106 playlist on repeat. The bartenders seemed friendly. Drinks are cheap which is a ++++. There's a pool table in the middle of the establishment which made the flow of traffic a little awkward. Several times I stood at the bar and would get nudged by someone's cue stick. I think that's the only negative aspect of the place. Other than that, I can see myself coming back here if I don't feel like going to a typical LA club. My favorite local dive ever. Its like cheers for me here now, I know the bartenders, the door guy, and always have friends here. Whether its packed or empty I seem to always enjoy myself here. I have been coming to the Chatterbox for about 2 years now and its my local watering hole. The bartenders are friendly and funny and always remember our drinks, the jukebox is up to speed and even the door guys are nice. I can honestly say I have never once seen a fight at this bar and Ive been here a lot. The people are always friendly and down to earth here and there's never any attitude.. This place is the size of my garage! From the outside it looks like a regular dive bar. It's right across the street from a Sizzler's. Its set up to be a lounge. Bars on the left. Lounge area on the right. Pool table in the middle, and a DJ on the far end to your right. I've heard they remove the pool table later in the night so people can starting dancing. I've been to alot of sketchy bars recently and Chatterbox looks pretty sketchy on the outside. But as my 1st grade teacher always taught me, "Don't judge a bar by it's cover"... or something like that. Chatterbox definitely looks better on the inside than the outside. It's pretty spacious for a dive bar and the decor and bar look very nice. The drinks are reasonably priced and they play classic movies on their big ol TV. Pretty chill bar. I might stop by again. If you're not looking for it, Chatterbox is pretty easy to drive past. Aside from the neon sign, the outside kind of blends into its surroundings and looks like somewhere you might take your lawn mower to get fixed. It was kind of a surprise to walk in and see the inside. Bar to the left, lounge area to the right, pool table in the middle, jukebox in the back. Dimly lit, the place is a dive, but nice enough to where I didn't feel the need to check the seats before you sit. Long story short, the atmosphere is pretty chill with a good mix of music and cheap drinks, the bartenders and even the door guy are cool AF. I don't play pool so this isn't an issue for me but note there is only ONE pool table. The drinks are guaranteed to be strong and cheap. This is a great bar to just wind down at and occasionally you get to shake your booty as they have a DJ the last Friday of the month. They also feature a comedy night usually the last Sunday or so of the month. I love coming here and love having had the chance to get to know all of the people that make up this amazing bar. Two words - SAUSAGE. FEST. I used to love rocking this place when I moved in to West Covina from Alhambra, but lately it's been overcome by packs of early 20s dudes rolling deep in fives and sixes. I guess i'd recommend the place to single chicks but if you're a single guy hoping to mingle or make new friends...it can be a real buzz kill when the guy/girl ratio is 10 dudes for every 1 girl that walks in the door. I visit the place regularly because it's so close to home and the drinks are ridiculously cheap but it ends up being a very last resort situation when I do. I can't complain much about anything else because for being a dive, they do a good job on the alcohol mixing. As stated earlier- the drinks are extremely reasonably priced, the people are pretty cool but the bathrooms are filthy and the amount of guys that pack the house on any given weekend is out of control. To management - get rid of that pool table in the middle of the room. As small as that joint is, it goes from improbable to impossible to play any legit game between 12-2am as everyone crowds the little place. read more

The Young People's Dive Chatterbox is smaller than most other dive's in the area, really only able to seat 20-30 people comfortably. Though it's not the easiest place to catch while driving down Citrus, it is plenty popular among people between 21-30. Don't expect to get in without an ID, for their bouncers are enforce the 21+ rule effectively. With only 2 flatscreen televisions, one $1 pool table and a mediocre jukebox, there much that stands out about this place. Sure, they have a more modern interior design that makes you feel like this is the IKEA of Dive Bars, but nothing particularly pops. They have a variety of four tap beers at a reasonably cheap price, but really you can get cheaper at Buffalo Wild Wings Happy hour. However, the Bartenders here are well experienced and know a majority of drink combinations. Before 9pm on any night, you can expect a near empty establishment. This place rarely gets crowded on game nights as well. On the other hand, after 9pm and you are sure to have a bumper to bumper fest during their busier nights. The only offering the Chatterbox has is their occasional Comedy nights and open mic nights. In which you typically have to find out by at least visiting the bar and asking the patrons, because there in no publicity made for these events. Also, on some nights, when there aren't any big games on, they'll put on cult classic movies like Pulp Fiction. They are even courtesy enough to put on subtitles. They don't allow smoking inside, and you are bound to run into a few drunks once in a while. The two star given is that the crowd is usually pretty chill....if you live in the area you'll see people you know there. Decent prices for drinks if you can actually get one. Cheap drinks, heavy pour. Only 3 beers on tap (PBR, Bud Light, and Shock Top), but a pretty good bottled selection including a couple of ciders. They have weekday drink specials that change every few months. The bartenders are really nice; they'll chat if you want and if not, they'll just keep your drinks fresh and strong. Plenty of seating, weekly comedy nights, pool, and a jukebox. Movies play nightly as well. Pretty clean for a dive bar. Decent restrooms, etc. I come at least once a week, if not more. read more

This is by far the best bar in the area for a few different reasons. 1. The bartenders are awesome. Aliza and Steve are not only very knowledgeable in terms of drinks, but are also fantastic people. 2. It is close. This may not be applicable for everyone, but my fiance and I can cab here for under $5 each way which is wonderful. 3. The drinks are strong and cheap. You get a lot for your money here. 4. No smoking inside. I have found that many "dive bars" in Covina allow smoking indoors which as a non-smoker, is quite depressing. Let's just cover the basics: Bar- it's a dive bar, stfu about the size, if you don't know what a dive is, stay at home since you clearly don't have enough public drinking experience. Bartenders/employees- I've seen the same employees since I've been in the area (7 years now). That should tell you how successful the place is. Turnovers show terrible business practices. Area- "high school reunion", so far no one has become famous out of Covina, chill out with your ego thinking people do what they can to go to the Chatterbox just to make sure they run into you. Bar fights: When? Where? Last time I saw anyone try to fight at the chatterbox, it was a guy and his car. (He was cut off, bouncers called him a cab, it was hilarious) I don't care what time it is right now, cab it to Chatterbox, (if it's closed, you sit your ass down and wait), go inside, order yourself an Old Fashioned, relax, and have a great time. Located north of downtown Covina, Chatterbox doesn't look like much on the outside, but the interior really surprised me (in a good way). Don't park across the street in the big strip mall parking lot (they WILL tow your car, even at night, and Chatterbox has a big sign outside reminding you not to park there. A bouncer even came inside the bar when I was there, asking if someone was parked there because the towing company had shown up). There is one pool table - don't leave your quarters on the table to reserve a spot, you have to write your name up on the board instead. The bathroom was clean, but there was only one toilet so I ended having to wait a few times. There are benches around the perimeter for a loungy vibe, and people were "dj-ing" the jukebox all night long. Best part: Drinks are STIFF and cheap. As a local to Covina and a big fan of dive bars, Chatterbox is the ideal place for me! Given that this place is within walking distance from my house, I love the fact that I don't have to drive home after drinking here. I gotta give a shout out to Steve, who is definitely one of the coolest bartenders that I've come across. He's always willing to get you a drink and usually is very chatty. The drinks are strong and for the price, are a huge steal! At most places, ordering a Grey Goose-Tonic will usually cost me around $10-11. At Chatterbox, I end up paying $6! And if you think that is cheap, they have PBR, both bottle and draft, for $2!!! They're practically giving it away! The girls that come here are usually pretty good looking. You do have some eye sores but generally, those get out numbered by the good looking ones; especially, when they have a DJ which is usually on the last Friday of every month. Sunday comedy is the best thing ever! My partner loves comedy and I usually avoid it because j don't think racism/sexism/homophobia is funny. However, at the chatterbox I have found that not only are the comics funnier than at flappers and the improv, but it's FREE and the comics are smarter! It's more common to see smart comedy than low brow and that makes it fun for both me and my partner. I've also been to the chatterbox on non-comedy nights and it is also fun and feels down home. As a person in my thirties I feel like the age demographic feels right-it's not just a bunch of 21 year olds. Anyway can't say enough how much I love this place. After going to a different bar down the street I was impressed coming here. I came in on a Monday night so it was pretty empty in there, but you can still feel the laid back vibe. The bar is pretty small though and has only one pool table so I could see it being pretty packed here on the weekends. Our bartender was really chill and cool to talk to. He was knowledgeable of the drinks, the bar, and it's history. He informed us of the no-charge comedy shows on Sunday nights which seems like a lot of fun. I was invited here one day and showed up about 30 minutes before last call (1:30am that day) I had a beer. The ambience felt v hunky-dory. At the bar area, there was tv's playing Bob's burgers and a juke box playing Frank Sinatra by Cake in the background. I saw a billards table and a small section of lounge booths. The bartender was attentive despite the regulars and the drink orders taking up some of his time. I still had a little more time to have another beer so I did lol. I'm a little fatty 5'2 girl so for the life of me I could not chug a beer even if I tried. I love this place. It's one of the few places that I know in the area that has Sailor Jerrys and Barenjaeger. The drinks are cheap and the jukebox has a great indie selection. A little unknown secret is Sunday Nights when the bar is semi populated, Travis the bartender serves up very tasty drinks (freshly squeezed juices). Awesome little dive bar. Drinks we great and both bartenders were very attentive. Lines weren't bad. Bathrooms we very accessible. Decent selection of liquors and pretty good beers. I like a lot of craft beer so I wasn't impressed with the beer but I found a couple I like. Pool table right in the middle! There is a chalkboard to get in line for Billards.
