We stopped here while traveling to give our dog an opportunity to burn off some energy. Overall, it was a nice experience. However, it's in need of upkeep. The water feature and fountain in the large dog area were out of order. Also along the back fence, a tree has fallen across the fence causing damage and if a dog seemed inclined, could jump the fence. Thankfully, ours wasn't interested but we kept a watchful eye just in case. Otherwise, there was ample seating for humans and plenty of shade/sun areas. I also appreciated the double gate which helped manage coming and goings. read more

I had high hopes for Chattapoochee Dog Park and made the journey up here mainly for my puppy to access to the river and cool off. Unfortunately, the road was closed off and no one was allowed in. Having come from DC, the concept of a "dog park" is new to me, and I absolutely love it. My dog has so much energy and loves running around (she sure is fast at it too), so I always look for areas where I can let her free. This is the perfect place to do so. I also love that the park is separated into two: one for small dogs (30lbs and under) and the other for big dogs (over 30lbs). My dog is under 10lbs and gets scared pretty easily especially by bigger dogs. The small dog area has a part where it's all trees and another where there are no trees (no shade). It was fine when I went because weather was in the 50's so I was looking to be in the sun. But, knowing how summer heat can be, not having trees/shade could be a big con. read more

I tend to visit this park when it's not very crowded in the later evening. I've found the owners to be very responsible and the dogs to be friendly, for the most part. There's always going to be a bad apple in the bunch but it could just be the day/time you go. On hot days some of the owners leave behind jugs of water for everyone to use. There's always dog bowls in the middle area where the fountains are and for the most part not too much unpicked up poop around, since there's usually poop bags in the cleanup stations. I've also never had an issue finding parking. The road is closed so you can't access the part with the river and bridge, which is a bummer. read more

I'm going to start off by saying I work at a doggy daycare where the dogs play with each other unleashed in a yard while being supervised. Fights almost never happen, and when they do, they aren't injured. It is completely safe for both you and your precious dog to be in a yard with an unleashed dog. It makes me sad that most of these dogs clearly don't get other interaction with dogs because their owners are scared that a dog without a leash will suddenly lunge at your dog for no reason. It's incredibly unlikely. RELAX. Let your dog run and play with the other dogs and watch them to make sure tensions do not build. Bring distractions for them whenever things DO get tense. Taking pictures of strangers and their unleashed dogs won't solve anything. NOR is it the park's fault. read more

My dogs love coming to this park, so despite it being out of the way for us, we try to make it out just about every week or two. There are separate areas for large and small dogs, both with a lot of running space, seating for dog parents, and plenty of shade. The small dog park has a small agility course and both have fountains and working sprinklers now that it's summer. There are usually plenty of doggie bags and the parents are good about cleaning up after their dogs. As a bonus, there is a trail leading to a creek where the dogs can splash around. BE ON ALERT FOR THIS MAN: This park is decent and has potential. However, dangerous owners will ruin it. Pictured is a irresponsible dog owner. I was sitting on a picnic blanket (near the tree pictured in the leashed area) with my 4month old LEASHED German shepherd doing some desensitization and focus training. When this man's full grown shepherd darts towards us. I tell my significant other, we quickly switch off the leash (he was originally holding our dog) and he stands to protect our personal space 5ft radius around us. 10-20sec later the LAZY/ IRRESPONSIBLE owner moseys along. We shout for him to leash his dog. We state that it is so unsafe for his dog and disrespectful and DANGEROUS for others. Not only is this area designated as leashed but the City of Duluth has leash laws. This man should not be an owner of a GSD. These dogs need proper training which he has lacked to provide. He was not able to recall his dog. His dog was growling/barking while darting and dodging my SO while he was block me and our pup (I moved him into my lap to shield him). This is sad to see as a GSD owner, he has set his dog up to fail and will reap the consequences eventually if he does not give his dog the decency to leash and train him. A leash is the only way you can safely protect your dog and others. It is the bare minimum of control when training fails. read more

I would actually put this in my top five dog parks in the country, and I found it on a random drive through Georgia because I had to get out of the fucking traffic oh my goodness. Also, the park is open to the public- and while my dog is big it has the biggest small dog side I've ever seen. I actually took my dog their first not even realizing there's a whole other magical wooded wonderland up yonder sidewalk. It's a nice park and we have been going there for several years. Unfortunately, there are ignorant owners that have brought their aggressive dogs to have some sicko entertainment! There is one particular man that lives down the street and brings his gray 2 yr old Cane Corso to the park, and that dog almost killed my Great Dane! The Cane Corso had my dog on his back pinned to the ground in attack mode! My Great Dane stayed on his back and didnt move a muscle since he knew the danger involved. The bald headed man just stood there and watched long enough to take a picture and watched his bully-ass dog over-power a Great Dane! He finally pulled the dog off and I had to leave. I will never go back due to this horrible behavior of the man and his dog. I just want to warn future park-goers that your dog's life is too precious to lose because of people and dogs like this. I am an expert on dog behavior and this is not an exaggeration! Please be aware of this man and his dangerous dog!!! read more

Love coming here with my dogs. Lots of room for them to run. The water frature is the. est part during hot days. Usually we will take a walk to the river if weather is permitting and let them go for a dip. Location is easy to find. I am in LOVE with this dog park, whoever said doggy haven doesn't exist on earth haven't been to the Chattapoochee dog park! When you arrive, there are plenty of parking. You are then greeted by some cute doggy mural painted by local students. There are two dog parks, small and large, they are separated by a wooded area. The small dog park is for dogs 30lb and under. If you ever come and there are only folks in the small dog park, don't hesitate to ask even if you have a big dog. The folks at this park are very friendly so are there dogs! Now, on to what really sets this park aside from the rest. The doggy fountains! You know in the summer when kids go to those nice parks and they could play in the water/sprinkler, they have them here for dogs! This can be activated by the green button by the entrance. There is a water fountain inside, so a good source of water on warm days. No need to deal with leaky hoses. There are water bowls around as well. People usually do a good job of picking up after their dogs. There are balls around the parks that folks have left here. In both parks, there is shaded area and the woods your dog can go roaming at. The woods has a path. The fence here is very well made, no rust, sturdy and tall enough. They have poop bags here, benches and a picnic table and dog house in the large dog area. There is even a river you can go take the dogs to go cool off, if the fountain is not even for you. The directions of the river is if you exist the dog park, turn right walk all the way down the a slight left. Go down the ramp then you are there. When in doubt, just ask someone, most people are well aware of the river access. Let me hear it, clap your paws! read more

I used to go to this dog park with my dog a lot more, back when there were more trees. The problem is in the summer without trees it gets really hot really quickly, and there's no shade around. The people who bring dogs to the park though usually have well behaved dogs though, and the times I've went it usually was a 75% chance there were at least 2-3 dogs for my dog to ply with. I wish they made this park a little more interesting though, without the trees its a bit just like a wide open area with only the water fountain for your dogs to play with. read more

I've been living here all my life and had a dog for almost half of it, but never bothered to check out this dog park! Chattapoochee Dog Park is at the end of Rogers Bridge Rd on the Gwinnett side of the Chattahoochee river. It's a nice mix of everything you'd want in the dog park. You have two fenced off areas, one for small dogs and the other for larger dogs, a large field, trailer, picnic tables, pavilion, trails, and a water area for dogs. My dog is 30 lb on the money, but we've only been in the larger dog area. All the dog owners are friendly and talkative, I've met so many people and heard amazing stories while my dog was sniffing around and playing with the others. The center of the fenced area is a watering station, although finicky at times, usually works. Sometimes people bring in large bowls to make it easier for the pets to drink water. Near the edges of the play area is forest, which my dog loves to wander and explore around. Generally the dogs that come are friendly, fights rarely break out and owners are quick to react. There isn't really any play equipment for the dogs, just a simple area for the dogs to interact with. The rest of the dog park resembles a normal, everyday park. There's a playground for kids to play at, a large field, and a pavilion for picnics and gatherings. A little further is the water area for the dogs to enjoy at. It used to be a boat ramp, just a concrete slope that connects to a shallow part of the Chattahoochee river. Nonetheless, it's a great place for your dog (and you!) to cool off after playing at the dog park. It's a pretty shallow part of the river with a lot of rocks, though if you walk further the water level gets deeper. Dogs are supposed to be leashed in this area, but it doesn't seem to be too enforced. Chattapoochee Dog Park is a clean, simple, and spacious park for both you and your dog to enjoy at. You don't even need a dog to come here: a lot of people were just enjoying the park space flying drones (!!) or having picnics. Just note that dogs are supposed to be leashed outside the dog play areas, but as long as your dog is well trained and won't wreak havoc, you can get away with playing fetch in the fields and other areas. read more

(there needs to be more places like this. this is definitely like an amusement park for your dog! they have two spacious fenced in areas & they do separate the big dogs from the small ones! they have a water area for your babies to enjoy. they even offer water fountains for them too. they have benches inside the fences so the owners can make friends too :) I'm very pro dog areas, & I think we definitely need more areas like this. if you haven't gone yet be sure to come! your dog is going to thank you & after all they deserve it for putting up with us :) read more

My husky absolutely loves coming here. We stop by a couple of times during the week. All the other dogs are well behaved and she always comes home tired and happy. There's a lot of room to run around in the trees and the grass. We are excited to use the fountains and the trail up to the river once it gets warmer. My only complaint is that they don't have functioning water fountains so remember to bring a bottle of water with you so your pup doesn't go thirsty after all the running and playing. read more

There are plenty of places to park as well. This park has a splash pad for the dogs. There is so much room so my dog had plenty of places to explore alone but also was able to meet some friends. I didn't see much poop lying around but there are bags and trash cans provided. There were also some water bowls and fountains available. There is a separate yard for the big dogs and the little dogs and they are very separate-not right beside each other like some parks. Will definitely come back! I am so disappointed with this park. I heard from my brother that my dog had a great time here last time so I went today with her again to let her have fun. My dog was having fun time until this lady with gray scrubs on came in with her two dogs ( a black labrador and a boxer) started telling everyone around her and new people coming in that their dog should be kept away from my dog because my dog showed discomfort towards her dog. I felt pressured to leave because every time new people came in, their dog wouldn't approach my dog because of her accusation of my dog being vicious. All my dog was doing was sitting next to us. This dog park has clearly gone to the dogs - pardon the obvious pun. We used to come here all the time and it was phenomenal. Today, we decided to come back up after moving out of the area to let our dog play in the river. When we brought him up to the park to let him dry off, the grass is grown up and there are wild mushrooms growing all over, which are not good for dogs should they eat them. It's also very clear the area hadn't been sprayed for bugs in quite some time as they covered my wife, myself and my dog. We left before being there for 5 minutes. Quite sad to see it get to this state. Hope it returns to being a great place for people and dogs alike soon. read more

While this is a very nice, large, and clean dog park that is over shadowed by some of the dog owners. I was excited to try this dog park because of the fabulous reviews but my experience was anything but. My dog is not aggressive, feisty, or mean in any shape or form so when two dogs in particular attacked him here he did not fight back. I however, pulled the dogs off of him while their owners looked from afar. That's right, they did absolutely not a thing. I've been to dog parks around the city before and when this happens the owners handle the situation. I cannot say with a good conscience that I would ever go back to this particular park. If you go I hope your dog can fight for itself or at least there are owners who will be "owners" and not on lookers. read more

I brought my mutt to this park yesterday for the first time and we both loved it. The large dog and small dog sections are separated, which is nice, as they don't go at each other through the fence like I've experienced at other parks like Windermere. There is a WORKING water fountain, and some neat rock structures and bridges for training if you're into that sorta thing. Some areas were a little muddy, but it had rained incessantly the last two days, and I was actually impressed that it wasn't worse. The people there were very nice, mostly choosing to interact with one another and pay attention to the behavior of their pups rather than stare down at their phones. So many times I've seen inattentive owners who aren't looking out for what's going on, which can mean it's often too late if a few dogs get to scrapping. My PSA for the day- if you're going to bring your dog to an off-leash dog park to play with a bunch of strangers, pay attention! If you feel funny about the way another dog is playing with yours, gracefully exit before something goes down. Anyway, big play area, with open grassy fields and wooded areas and several trash bins. -1 star only for the 2 empty bag dispensers at both entrances. read more

Pretty Great dog park! We use the large dog area so I can really only speak for that one. The space itself is big which I love. It allows for my pup to be social or go off by herself if she needs a break. Everyone here is nice and welcoming. Of course let's be honest, dog people are always the nicest The fountain is a little finicky but my pup hates it anyway. There have been a couple times here lately that the water fountains weren't working. I think it may be because of freezing temperatures, but just a heads up! They have plenty of space for humans too. Quite a few benches and a few picnic tables too. However, if you choose to bring food into a dog park best of luck to you. Either way a great place to bring the pup and trees provide adequate shade in the hot summer months. A great place to chill while your pup gets their energy out! read more

This park is a really nice and open area for my dog to play in. In fact it is one of the few in the area to actually take my dog too. I am only dropping it down a star because there seems to be a few places against the back area where the fences needs to have their bases covered in again. There is a hole or two, that if my dog really wanted to she could squeeze on out. Also, since they cut down the trees in the back the back area is very uneven to walk in, but I honestly don't think the dogs mind. Lol read more

There is only one small dog park near my house, so I am constantly on the lookout for a great place to go. I went there today and absolutely loved it. The park was clean and free of poop. People were very friendly and all the dogs seemed to have a great time! There was plenty of room for all the dogs to run and have a great time. I tried to take her to the river but the water had already been released, but someone mentioned it's released around 3pm so now I know to go earlier. Right next to the dog park is a couple large sized green fields that were gorgeous. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening at the dog park and I will be back! read more

Clean and spacious park for your doggos! There is a small and big dog section if you're worried about huge dogs running to greet your 5 lb pup. The small dog section is for dogs up to 30 lbs, and the big dog section is for 30+ lbs. Both sections appear well-kept. We spent most of our time in the big dog section (my pup is 35 lbs), and we had a blast! Plenty of shaded areas and water bowls for hot days. There's also at least 20 tennis balls laying around. No need to bring your own if you don't mind the dirt-covered balls. Everyone at the park was really nice. My puppy LOVES new people, so she was jumping up on every dog owner there. She got lots of head pets and belly rubs. We didn't get a chance to explore the rest of the park, but we'll definitely be returning for another play day. Bonus: if you're bored just sitting around while watching your dog play, you can start up Pokemon Go and swipe on the PokeStop at the park. read more

The park is always clean, and it's never muddy or dusty because the grounds are very well kept. I love that there's are large off leash areas for dogs under 30lbs and one for dogs 30lbs+. This place is amazing! The big dogs and small dogs are separated which is nice! Also both areas have amazing amount of space for the pups to play in! The small dog side has such a nice shaded forest area for dogs to go explore in and the noise is minimum so the dogs don't get too distracted! There is also a fountain for the pups to run around in and water drinking stations! Further down is a playground which is equally as shaded! And if you go to the left you can enter the creek which pretty clean! The closer you get to the creek the cooler it gets! Regrettably you can't BBQ around there just look at it on the steps but it's a nice change of pace! I alway recommend this dog park to anyone! It's so amazing! Also a lot of people come here so it's a great place to socialize your dog with other dogs! read more

After the first of April, the ground fountain and water are supposed to be back on. There's always poop bags in the canisters for use (I always recommend if you are going to use one that's there the next time you are in, put one back for someone else). The grounds are nice for the dogs. Big dog house, ground water fountain, "woodsy" area and slightly slopping grass area. Large and small dog park areas. There's also restrooms and play ground area outside the dog park. Inside there are benches and tables for people.
