    Small dog's half of park

I am ranking this specifically for the dog park as that is the only reason I have been here a few times. Plain and simply "OK". If there were other dog parks in Forsyth to compare to, it probably wouldn't even rank that high. This is your basic dog park. It is very well hidden like Lee says. Be ready to make a U-Turn after passing right by it and also be ready for some flooding in the park as also mentioned by Annie. When I have been there, there is only a water fountain on the side for the large dogs, although there is a slab of concrete on the other side with pipe coming out of it and I am guessing they are working (slowly) at adding one there. For now, it's the one place in Cumming that has a fenced area for the dogs to run and socialize.

Pretty solid little dog park. It's definitely hidden. At first, all I saw was a fenced in area and a parking lot and figured my phone misdirected me. Opposite the fenced in area is a short trail and bridge that leads you to a couple fields, playground and the dog park. Poopbags, maintained trash cans, working water fountains for both the small dog and large dog sides, covered benches and plenty of space for dogs to run and play. We went on a Monday and absolutely no one was here, which was kind of a bummer. But my pup, Jimmy, and I enjoyed our visit. I would suggest a larger or more obvious sign for the entrance to the park.

Whenever a dog might have acted out the owner immediately stepped in, which was good to see. The area itself looked to be well maintained and had a wiring fountain for the dogs. There were also a few benches for seating.

You pull up to the building and from the parking lot, you have no idea where it actually is. You just have to get out and start exploring and hope that GPS has actually landed you in the right place. You are indeed there. Walk around the community building and follow the path off to the right. There are three enclosures: big, little, and ?? I didn't walk that far because I always stop for my pup to play with the bigs. There is fresh water at the entrance, and when it's hot, there are plastic pools you can fill and mud for your dog to play in. There is some shade, but it's not every where, and the grass (as you'd probably expect) is non-existent, but it's a fun time, especially when people actually get off their phones (AND THE BENCHES) and play with their dogs.

Once inside, I headed straight for the Bar(k) for some beer and cocktails. There's a good selection for whatever sustenance you need on a hot summer day. I wanted something cold and juicy - the POG basement IPA is one of my favorites, so I skipped the draft list and opted for the can. I also loved the cocktail list with dog themed names - the Moscow Mutt was pretty tasty. There isn't much shade at the park - so we were all crowded under the shade of the awnings, attempting to get as close to the fans as possible. I tried to get my pup to go out to the turf and play with other dogs but it was way too hot for her so she just kept following me back to the shade to chill. The tennis balls were too big for her to catch and there are only one size available. She prefers to play fetch with the smaller balls we have at home. The dog trainers/park workers tried to interact with her but she was a bit aloof and clingy to me. My pup is not very dog friendly anymore thanks to a bad incident at a public dog park, so unfortunately I can't come by regularly now - however if your dog enjoys playing with other dogs and people and you want to be able to drink and socialize at the same time, definitely recommend!

The dog park is sectioned off for large and small dogs. My review is based on the large dog park. Half of the park is filled with gravel makes the area cleaner than most after a rainy day. The other half is like a forested area with dirt. On hot afternoons, many dog owners and their pups gather in that area to keep cool. PROS: - 3 water stations - Multiple poop bag dispensers that always stocked in my experience - Lots of benches throughout the park - Wash off area outside the park - Almost always occupied with dogs throughout the day - Gravel - Convenient walking trail entrance adjacent to park - Well lit parking lot and park CONS: - Some days, there's more poop on the ground than others. Not too bad though. - The wash off area can be cleaner - Not close enough to home :( Parking is plentiful. I never have trouble finding parking unless there's a festival/event going on in the park. ** Note: Dog park is closed from 9am-12pm first Wednesday each month for cleaning** Bravo to the Brook Run community/volunteers who contribute to keeping this park clean and well stocked.
