They had originally told me over the phone that it was only $49 for the co-pay with insurance but then when I got there in person, I asked again and they said actually there is another fee for the contact lens exam, (which is normal) but not for 150 additional dollars on top of the 49 WITH insurance. Additionally, the front desk woman was extremely rude to a man who came in to deliver packages when he accidentally set them on the desk instead of the shelf. After he walked out, she continued to complain about him loudly to the customers. I would not recommend going here because of the price and the unprofessional attitudes of the employees. read more

Dr. Sechler was great. Chloe got my exam started and was great with me as well. My eyes are in good shape so that always adds a star. They were courteous and timely especially with a scheduling snafu. Was out of town on the 16th but that's when they originally had me scheduled for. I'm certain it was my mistake in one way or another, but they rescheduled me for the day I had planned for and were really good to work with on top of that. Three reasons Chattanooga Eyecare is great: 1. NO PUFF OF AIR TEST. If you're like me, you hate this glaucoma test. Anticipating that stupid puff of air makes my eyes water and my hands sweat. So when I found out that Dr. Draper skips that altogether and goes to the step she would have to do if the puff of air "found" anything anyway, I was one happy camper. 2. No paper. The whole office is trying to go paperless, which is super enlightened and eco-friendly of them. They even emailed me a PDF of my prescription instead of making me come get it. Well done. 3. Dr. Leslie Draper is super nice and personable, which is always appreciated. Just another thing that made a normally dreaded doctor's appointment that much easier and better. read more

I think that one of the most difficult thing to do when you move to an area is find new doctors. There are not many review out there for medical professionals (doctors, dentists, etc.), and the quality varies dramatically. When I decided to go from glasses to contacts, I picked Chattanooga Eyecare because their website looked friendly and professional (I couldn't find any reviews to go on). I was very impressed with my experiences there. Dr. Draper is very friendly and empathetic. She actually has a personality, unlike most ODs. I've been in there 3 times for an eye exam and for adjustments. I was impressed with their comprehensiveness, good service, and lack of "nickel and diming". Dr. Sechler is the new eye doctor at Chattanooga Eyecare and I was very impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness of the exam. He has a great personality and I was very comfortable during the exam, despite it being the first time I met him. He diagnosed a condition that my previous eye doctor had missed. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks in advance and my insurance information was provided that same day. I received a text the morning before asking me to confirm my appointment. I confirmed. I received a call that same evening, 20 minutes before they closed, asking me if I was using insurance. I provided the girl with my insurance. She then tells me that they do accept my insurance but because my insurance company is merging with another, the insurance company has made it so they cannot file under my insurance company. She proceeds to tell me I can either pay out of pocket and get refunded when and if they can file or I can cancel my appointment. I cancelled my appointment. I called my insurance company the next morning. They told me they could look me up in their system and see that I was eligible. They told me that because of the companies merging, there are longer than normal wait times when placing an order but that it's not impossible to file under them. They also said the provider probably doesn't want to deal with the long wait times. My insurance company also tried calling to speak to someone to clear this up but they were "unavailable". I made an appointment with a different provider that same day and had no issues. read more

After 56 years of wearing glasses for astigmatism, I am now glasses free thanks to Dr. Matzkin's implant of a special lens during my cataract surgery last week. We are blessed to have an ophthamologist and surgeon like him in Chattanooga. His staff is very professional and helpful. I highly recommend him for routine eye care and surgery if needed. Very disappointing in the compassion for patient at this office. I went to Dr. Hooper for an eye infection that was very painful and had 3 follow up appointments within 2 months. Dr. Hooper diagnosed the infection and gave me a prescription. She said that if I had any more problems with the medication to call her cell phone. The medication took care of the problem and pain. Last week my eye flared up again and I had extreme pain and redness. I called to have the prescription refilled and was told I had to come in for an appointment before they would refill the medicine for my recurring eye infection. Dr. Hooper is not in until Friday so I called their office and was told "well you were supposed to come back and so we won't refill it." I am shocked that they don't care about their patients....obviously just their insurance payments. too bad". My annual eye exam is in January but will be making it with someone else. Would not recommend this office if you have anything wrong with your eyes. Only good for routine visits. They don't care about anything else. read more

Although based on price comparisons, I & others in my office have found them to be quite a bit higher priced than other doctors in the area, I stayed with Chattanooga Eyecare for several years, due to Dr. Draper's expertise & caring attitude. My last appointment was in May of 2013 however because in April of 2014 I received a bill from them! After MANY attempts I finally got in touch with a person that would discuss it, and they claimed they'd mailed statements every month. No bills ever arrived at my house, and I was assured at my last visit that my account was good. A bill for $42 after a YEAR? No thanks. These folks are all about making money anyway they can, and I've finally "seen the truth" that others have tried telling me. Dr. Draper does a good test, and seems like she cares. Too bad her billing folks are untrustworthy. I would NOT recommend getting sucked into their practice. Not worth the extra money up front, and not worth random bills months after the fact. read more
