For our wedding anniversary, we traveled across the river to Annarellas Ristorante on 276 Malden…read moreTurnpike in Saugerties We arrived early as we were traveling about an hour away and we're aware there were many detours as the Malden Bridge is undergoing repairs.  I'd read about Annarellas prior to this, and based on glowing reviews chose this to mark 50 years together, 39 as husband and wife...long engagement! We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!

Ima keep ranting about this part of New York. This area really don't got a lot of good flavor. And…read morewhat I mean by that, like the cooking just ain't cooking for most of these spots. And idk what it is, it could be just the local folks don't got that much flavor in their taste buds and they the anti-City folk type so most of the businesses just lack in that field. With that said... this was a pretty decent Italian spot I will say WITH that consideration in mind. I did have the ravioli with slow cooked carne inside and that was delicious. My wife got the lasagna and... it was iiiitte. Family next to us were raving about it and like they were nice and we were being polite. But like let's be real here - it tasted like Stouffer's. Not that it's a knock, but at that point, you paying for the atmosphere. Which I will say the indoors is nice. You can have a nice date night or family outing here. There's a bar and plenty of parking. The service was on point and very accommodating with our new born. Who we were chopping it up with our waiter, and found out the owner's name is also the same as our kid so that was fun talking with them on. The garlic bread - idk if it's supposed to come cold, but it had like tomato sauce on it, it was like the complimentary bread with some extra shit on it. But I wasn't feeling that, but my inner Italian side just kept dipping it in my red, and it was all good. I'm glad we came here but probably won't be back if given the chance. But we looked around, and it seemed like to be the only viable Italian restaurant in the area so, if given under the same conditions, we would be back lol. I just went back and forth there like 3 times. Is that non-Ai enough of a review for you Yelp? After they flagged me for actually structuring and editing my reviews like in old school English class. Now yelp is promoting "Yelp Assistant" even though it's Ai. Gtfo here lmao

Great wine list, great pizza, delicious entrees, great service and huge portions /good value for price point. The in house made "house" salad dressing is the bomb. It's a balsamic something. The cannolis are better than most anywhere and large. I've been on a cannoli kick over the last year or 2 and this was better than any, including from Italian bakeries that I've had recently. The wine list is expansive and at $11 a glass, with a great pour, is reasonable, as is the bottle prices. I've been many times for both eat in and pizza for take out AND attended a catered event here and they really get everything right all the time. See you there!

We looked up Italian food options, and while there weren't too many choices in the area, this place's pizza looked really good--so we decided to give it a try. You walk in and the space feels much larger than expected--high ceilings with some familiar décor I've seen in other Italian restaurants, like small statues, vines, and painted scenery. You could also tell that this is a popular local spot, since it seemed like the staff knew several of the guests personally. We ordered a medium Margherita pie and a Penne alla Vodka--both simple and safe choices. The pasta dish came with a side salad (choice of house or Caesar), which was perfect. Note: if you prefer a small amount of dressing, you may want to ask for it on the side. We did make that request, but unfortunately, the server seemed to have forgotten, and our salad came drenched. We didn't mention it, though, because we weren't that hungry and just ate what we could before moving on. That said, the pizza and penne were both excellent. The pizza had that great brick oven flavor, fresh mozzarella, and a robust tomato sauce. The Penne alla Vodka was also flavorful and nicely seasoned. If you're ever in the area and in the mood for Italian food, definitely check this place out.

Don't know how they got such an amazing whipped texture. I recommend making a reservation if you can. We walked in on a Friday night around 7pm without one as a party of two and just got the last two seats at the bar. Can't wait to return!

They also have a garlic knot pizza, which is very popular where I live in NH. I stopped by Gnome Slice Pizzeria for dinner recently. I placed an online order through Spoton. I ordered a slice of Cheese Pizza ($3.50 plus tax) and a Mushroom Kingdom Fettuccine ($21 plus tax) with a side salad. I enjoyed the Cheese Pizza slice in restaurant that was heated up in the oven. The thin crust was crisp on the bottom with a soft dough texture with the right amount of red sauce and cheese. The Mushroom Kingdom Fettuccine & side salad was bagged and ready to go in about 15 minutes. I enjoyed my dinner outside on a warm night. The good size portion of pasta was very hot and had soft fettucine noodles with tender pieces of chicken, mushrooms in a rich creamy alfredo sauce. The side salad had a mix of arugula, ripe tomatoes, red onions, tri color peppers and shredded mozzarella cheese, dressing on the side. My dinner overall was solid excellent and now I am tempted to drive all the way back here again so I can play some Ms. Pac Man and order a specialty pizza (Gnomish Coastline Quest) and a Bonus Level Bolognese pasta dinner.

Warm beautiful dining room with a wood burning fireplace, with a fire going, on a chilly night. Ann, our server was perfect. Perfect timing and flow, gave us recommendations and bussed empty glasses and plates every pass. They start you off with warm fresh Italian bread and a bean salad. Both were tasty and they also said popovers are coming. Another staff appeared with a piping hot fresh baked basket of popovers and gave us each one. It didn't even need butter. Amazing. It felt like being in a bakery in Italy or Europe. Next, our apps and salads arrived. The calamari was tasty, as was the mushroom beignets. I wasn't used to this style of mushroom caps but boy were they delicious. The salad was tasty and came with fresh homemade bread bits as croutons. Everyone at the table enjoyed the apps, the popovers, and our entree. The specials list and deserts sounded wonderful but it was just so much food, we were full. A+ all around and I will be going back soon.

She was friendly and professional from the moment we arrived until we left, making us feel truly appreciated as guests. We shared our favorite cocktail, the Lavender Lemon Drop, which was once again fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. For our appetizer, we ordered the Filet Mignon Meatballs. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Parm served with linguine, and I had the Shrimp Parm with linguine. Every dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service from our server this time was not as attentive as it was during our visit two months ago with a different server. While the hostess provided outstanding, and courteous service, the same could not be said of our server. The difference in the level of hospitality was noticeable and somewhat disappointing. Overall, we still enjoyed another delicious meal.

Service was friendly and the food was amazing. The "new" (to us) building was spacious and clean. Perhaps because it wasn't too busy on a Thursday evening, it wasn't overly crowded (three tables were taken when we got there at around 8pm), but you could definitely hear the conversations from tables that were close by. Complimentary rolls were delicious. We got the Calamari Fritta to start and no complaints. Nice, crisp, light breading with a pleasant marinara dipping sauce. My GF got the Gnocchi in a fra diavolo sauce, which she loved (and said would order again) and I got the shrimp scampi with linguine; it came with 7 or 8 decently-sized shrimp that was combined with the silky smooth, lemony, buttery, garlicky scampi sauce. Absolutely would order again. Piccolo Trattoria will always be on my list of go-to places whenever we are in the area.
