Pretty darn tasty breakfast in The Poconos at this super no frills, down-home, small town, friendly spot. There was about a 10 minute wait at prime brunch time on a Sunday morning which coming from the city was such a welcomed, easy wait. We were shortly seated in an ultra comfy, oversized booth and drink orders were taken immediately by our friendly waitress who had coffee pot ready on hand to pour. We ordered our diner standards- tomatoe juice, cranberry and chocolate milk. We then drooled over the breakfast menu which is filled with about a half a dozen eggs Benny options, over a dozen specialty omelettes of all kinds, unique savory and sweet options such as Belgium waffles, pancakes or French toast stuffed with eggs and meat too. They also have signature "Messy Mike" sammies which contain all of your favorite breakfast items including country fried steak, home fries or steak piled high with other breakfast staples on either a tortilla, toasted kaiser, bagel or ciabatta. My favorite part of the menu however was the dozen or so pancake options! Not only did they come in a variety of tempting flavors, but were offered as a single, short stack or tall stack. I really wish more places did this! This allows you to taste more than one or just order a small portion if you so desire! It's genius! Hubs had the sausage eggs Benny with creamy steak gravy which he really, really enjoyed. I opted for a side of classic oatmeal which I asked to be made with water instead of milk. They obliged without issue and I also asked for a side of cinnamon. The little one gobbled her chocolate chip single pancake in two seconds. It was a perfect pancake!! A tad crisp on the edges and soft, warm and chocolatey on the inside. The big one went for a side bowl of cheesy grits. These side items were HUGE portions for a very minimal cost! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal! As if the prices weren't reasonable enough, we took off the 10% For Yelp check in making our total for this tasty, hearty pre-hike meal, an all around great, tasty adorable one! This is what I've been searching for in this area! "Diner" quality food. 1st time here & look forward to going back! The servers were all so nice & attentive. They had specials available. Not a lot of places have specials. I got the "Big One" - 2 eggs, meat, toast, home fries & pancakes or French toast. Wow! Everything was flavorful. Coffee was hot - not warm - hot - the way it should be. They made a special accommodation for the French toast - they made it without cinnamon since I'm allergic. The French toast was light and flavorful - didn't need syrup, the powdered sugar was just enough. And they do have real maple syrup for an up charge (most places charge extra which is standard). It was a great breakfast! I finally found a great breakfast place. This is my new go to spot. read more

Awesome place! Stopped by here with a pretty large group and this place was exceedingly accommodating. Even on a busy weekend, they made sure we were all seated together and were served pretty quickly for such a large group. While we understandingly had a bit of a wait (maybe 20-30min or so), they kept us notified of what we were waiting on. Very cute place, humorously tongue-in-cheek decorations ("Spooning leads to forking so use condiments!") and the wait staff were super friendly, helpful and attentive. Called ahead of time for a party of 8. They accommodated which was nice. The second we walked in, we were treated extremely poorly, not sure if it's because our whole party doesn't look anything like the regular patrons here but I'm not going to assume that. We sat and ordered drinks, and the young woman kept speaking to us in a tone that I would GROUND my 12 year old daughter for if she ever spoke to an adult like that with. Over and over. I asked to add onions and peppers to my omelette, was rudely informed THATS NOT POSSIBLE, no substitutions. Never in 40 years have I heard of not being to add veggies to an omelet. It's obvious they don't care about the way they treat customers as their shirts all comments like "did I roll my eyes" "if you don't like it, leave" etc. As well as all kinds of signs on the wall. Also, to the waitress: If a customer asks for a chocolate milk, we don't need you to rudely say "ANOTHER ONE??!!" In disgust. FYI; you got the two fat guys confused. The first guy ordered one, then the next fat guy ordered one, so you can sleep easy tonight that these fat guys had only one child size chocolate milk each today. As you can see by owners response, he doesn't care whatsoever how rude these 16 YEAR OLD children has RUNNING his BUSINESS are. Omg, NOOOOOO.. I am so TERRIFIED of the complaint filed... oh noooooooo!!! LMAO Owners threatening patrons over Yelp, classic! This is a fun place with really good food. Eggs benedict, short stack with blueberries and bananas mixed into the pancakes, and a cheesesteak were very tasty. Hot chocolate was awesome. The "sidewinder fries" are a fun TWIST on potatoes and were yummy. The signs on the walls are clever. The waitresses were joking with their regulars. There is a 4% surcharge if paying with credit card, which I didn't notice til after I paid, but a lot of restaurants are doing some sort of fee pass-through. We'll probably be back to experience Chat n Chew's food and environment and pay cash - there are more items on their menu we'd like to try. Support this cafe! read more

Been coming here for a few years, I applauded the recent expansion, glad to see business is good. Waited 10 minutes for 1st cup of warm coffee and walked out after 40 minutes waiting for eggs over easy and biscuits. Very poor organization, bigger isn't always better. I drove 30 miles looking forward to the biscuits and gravy, might come back in the slow season. Not ready for prime time. read more

My family and I have moved to the area last year, and we have came to this restaurant several times because of Edna, who works at the register. The first time we went, she approached us and we had a great conversation. Everyone is so friendly here and works with a smile on their face. It's a great environment. After shopping at the outlet, my family and I were looking for a place to dine in and decided to return to Chat 'n Chew. We came years ago and loved it! Chat 'n Chew was and still is know for their fabulous let ketchup and great sandwiches. I ordered the "Grilled Cheese", my mom got the "Beyond meat burger" with gluten free toast and my dad ordered the "Steak, cheese, mushroom and pepper sandwich." Our food came relatively fast while keeping it's hot and fresh touch to it. The Grilled Cheese was something to die for! It was warm inside and the cheese was melted to perfection. The french fries (substituting for chips, extra) were the perfect texture and didn't lack flavor. The cheese steak was moist and the buns were soft. You could taste each component and the onion rings were good (extra $). Last but not least the beyond meat burger tasted. Ireally similar to a real burger and the gluten free toast was toasted nicely. The service was outstanding and I would definitely return! read more

What a find! I've been coming to the Pocono's with my husband's family for ten years and neither of us have ever been here! We have been missing out. It is a little gem inside the run down shopping center. Brian: Sausage gravy & biscuits with home fries. It was really good. Steph: I had the Dutch omelet, with sausage, sauteed onions and peppers with cheese and rye bread. The rye bread had seeds but I was ok with that. Coffee was good too. That's always a plus. It was the kind of place that felt like everyone would know your name if you came enough. I liked the t-shirts that the waitstaff wore! Also the open kitchen is always nice to see people are cooking your food right out in the open. We would return for sure. I bet lunch would be good too. read more

This rather unassuming restaurant located in a shopping center next to a grocery store was a pleasant surprise. The inside isn't much to look at but the sarcastic signs all over the wall were entertaining. The T-shirt's were amusing as well. We were greeted immediately and sat (thankfully they didn't have a wait at the time). We contemplated what to have for a while, and our server helped with recommendations. My husband ended up ordering a breakfast special from the wall, which if I recall correctly, was called a "triple mess." Something like that. It was a soft pretzel topped with home fries, three fried eggs, bacon, cheddar and jack cheeses, and chopped beef gravy. You can see the shock when the plate arrived. I ordered the chipotle chicken wrap with fries instead of chips. The fries are shaped like none I have seen before - spiral cut but not curly fries, wide, flat, and rippled. They were battered, and some of the best fries we've ever had. The wrap was excellent as well. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. It's close to the racetrack as well (we were there for the stock car racing experience). read more

We have a vaca home in Lake Harmony~Piggy's and Terra Cottage café are literally just down the street. There's something special and iconic about Piggy's , we really like it there However i thinks it's just way overpriced, bkfst for 2 people is typically $40. While looking for another bkfst spot in the area we found Chat & Chew. We Walked in and were very happy with the place and its setup; it is also very clean. If you don't know where it's at, you might never find this place. Located in the Blakeslee mall next to Ahart, is a delightful coffee shop with good coffee, pancakes, sandwiches, and salads. Served by a young, energetic staff, in a clean, modest setting. I had their tuna sandwich. Very sparing with the mayo on real whole grain bread. My wife had cranberry pancakes. Next day we had a veggie and Mediterranean omelet. Home fries were excellent. Not greasy. Back a third time for another time sandwich and two heaping scoops of tuna on salads. For three people.
