I'm a bit conflicted on the Chasse Hotel...
On one hand, the room was bright and comfortable and the hotel itself is in a good location. I loved our private balcony off the back of the room. Both the bed and the bathroom were huge. The free water and snacks in the room were a nice welcome to Amsterdam after a day of travel. I liked the infused water at the front desk in the lobby, too. We especially loved the front desk staff member (I'm blanking on her name) who is from Italy -- she was always so friendly and full of helpful information. Annnnd, you're just a 5-minute stroll from the tram stop that will take you right into the center of town plus several markets, bars, and restaurants.
On the other hand though, we did have quite a few hiccups during our 6-day stay. Despite being out of the room from 9am - 3pm or 4pm every day, we regularly missed the housekeepers. During our Saturday - Thursday stay, we came back to a cleaned room just twice. The WiFi is a pain in the butt. It's one of those you have to sign into from a browser and frequently dropped connection, forcing you to sign in multiple times. Last but most certainly not least, the dance studio next door is insanely loud when class is in session. Luckily, class seemed to end every day by about 9pm or 10pm. But, when in session, it sounded like a dance club in our room. If you have any hopes of napping or resting quietly during the day, this is NOT the hotel for you!
If the hotel was a little less expensive, I could look past some of those snafus. But, when you're paying well over €1,000 for 5-nights at a supposedly 4-star hotel, it becomes harder to swallow. read more
