I stayed at the Hilton Amsterdam on my December 2023 trip to the city, I was rather disappointed with my stay overall, having previously stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton at Amsterdam Centraal and the Doubletree by Hilton at NDSM Island on previous trips to Amsterdam, it is my least favourite Hilton in the city. The hotel is located on Apollolaan, one of the most expensive streets in the city, for tourists it isn't ideal at all, it's at least a ten-minute walk to a tram stop and from there, it isn't too bad into the city but the time adds up in-case you want to head back if you've forgotten your jacket. Leidseplein - 6 minutes Red Light District - 11 minutes Centraal Station - 18 minutes My stay started very well, I received a lovely welcome email, I explained the purpose of my trip was to celebrate my birthday, and they upgraded me in advance to a suite as a Hilton Honors Diamond member. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, things turned sour and I didn't feel valued as a Diamond member. The check-in process was long and stressful, I was checked in by a blonde receptionist who was rather rude. She questioned the integrity of my Hilton Honors Diamond status, before explaining to me I would be denied access to the Executive Lounge, she mentioned how they would still be giving me free breakfast - but I had already paid for a room rate with Breakfast included, as I had booked two rooms and wanted Breakfast for everyone so it wasn't free, and she then argued with me about this. I was able to get access to the Executive Lounge for the final two nights of my stay, and for such a large hotel, the Lounge was tiny, with only a few tables, I also heard stories of other guests being denied access to the Lounge due to the size and no alternative being offered. For such a large hotel, with the historic fame of being home to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Bed In Protest, you'd expect better. There was a small selection of canapes (nothing GF) and alcoholic drinks between 17:00 and 19:00. The check-in process was so time-consuming, despite advising the receptionist I had a debit card, I was told there was no way around the card hold, in the end, they offered to take a hold for one room, rather than two... only for them to take the full €700 for both rooms and tell me there was nothing they could do but refund it in a couple of days. After arriving at my room, I was tired after my flight and the check-in experience, the room was fairly nice but the facilities were basic for a Suite. The safe was located towards the back of a high and deep shelf, meaning you'd have to be over six feet tall to reach it so it was unusable for me. There was also no desk, so I had to form a makeshift one using the sofa, and coffee table, which wasn't ideal. The guests travelling with me had similar issues in their Deluxe Room with the safe and no desk so this wasn't just an issue exclusive to the suites. My room was a tad small for a suite but the sofa and bed were both comfortable, and there were bed-side sockets including handy USB charging. There was a small fridge in the room, but only one small shelf could be used for the guest's own items, I did put some of my items in place of the free waters in the mini bar, but housekeeping moved them so they obviously mustn't like guests using the space for themselves. I did find a lack of storage space across the room as a whole, not just in the refrigerator Housekeeping standards also could have been better, they forgot to turn up on one day of my stay, if I had not returned to my room before 5 pm when housekeeping finished, I would not have had my room refreshed. They also never topped up my bottled water, or coffee, or cleaned the drinking glasses. The heating in the room also would switch off automatically, even after a few minutes, so I had to request an electric heater, after asking the staff member to come up and look at it, they just told me to request a heater. I did also have some noise issues during my stay, mainly from outside, you wouldn't realise it was Amsterdam's most expensive street from what was going on outside that's for sure, it felt as if my window could have been open even though I'd made sure it was wedged shut. Breakfast is served in Roberto's Restaurant, the breakfast times were good until 10;30 am during the week and 11 am at weekends, although the fruit juice would run out and not be topped up before then, the overall quality was reasonably good. The bacon was crispy, the potatoes were tasty, and the eggs were average. I was confused by the surcharge of €8 for poached eggs and other items though. Overall, I was disappointed by the Hilton Amsterdam, a famous hotel perhaps living off its past and not the future. One thing I've noticed with Hilton is the service always goes above and beyond to make it right, but at this hotel, I felt like a burden rather than a paying guest at the hotel which is also quite pricey.

The staff at the Hilton Amsterdam is amazing! Nico and Hermanmom are wonderful and so helpful. The hotel itself is in a quiet area, but they directed us to a wonderful little shopping area that was easily walk to with many restaurants and boutiques. The hotel itself was not very what we were expecting from Hilton. The bed was very extremely uncomfortable, the shampoo and conditioners were empty or watered down. Realized after that the hotel was room was so basic that I didn't even take a picture. Sorry. The location was not where I expected it to be. I thought it was closer to the Dam and Central train Station. It was much further away than I expected, 25 minutes by cab. But it is in a lovely quiet area and we did walk easily over to the museum block. Be prepared there are not restrooms aka toilets, available for tourists, except during specific hours.

I highly recommend this hotel. Was here the week before Christmas. The staff were amazing. Thank you to Mr. Nico for greeting us every morning. Thank you Roberto for our easy and quick check in and a special thanks to Bruna from the executive lounge. Her kindness was so appreciated. Our room was located on the 9th floor. Clean and spacious. Executive lounge was a 10 plus. Plenty to drink and eat.

Overall, a great experience here during my last business trip. The location is away from the more touristy parts of town, and I enjoyed the tranquility, canal views from the room and bars, and proximity to the museums and Concertgebouw (just a 12 min walk). The property is older but well maintained, and it's in a a residential area that is quiet and also had some nice looking shops and restaurants. Loved the canal view from my room, as well as the bar off the lobby. Morning breakfast was also better than average. And while it's a bit further away from the main train station, it's also a quick Uber ride to the airport which was convenient the next morning.

I love Amsterdam and would totally stay here again.

I usually visit some part of Europe during the fall season and so I do visit multiple hotels along the way. Some hotels are better than others and the Hilton Amsterdam was my favorite from this trip. During my downtime at work I am always on the look for hotels to plan my future travels. Day by day I would check availability for the Hilton Amsterdam and I eventually found decent rates for the dates when I would be in Amsterdam. As with my other reviews on Hilton hotels and resorts to make full use of my Diamond membership (room upgrades, executive lounge access, daily breakfast and 100% bonus points). Travel to the hotel from the airport was roughly 30 minutes via airport bus. Amsterdam is a very walk-able city and so everything is within distance. It was roughly 15 minutes to get to the nearest museum (think of Berlin's museum island; Van Gough, Rijks & Stedeljk) and 30 minutes to the city center where the Royal Palace, Anne Frank House and Red Light District are situated. I arrived quite late on my first night at the hotel and so I decided to dine in by visiting the executive lounge situated on the 10th floor of the hotel on its own glass enclosed floor and outdoor patio. For breakfast I opted to dine at Roberto's located on the ground level. Roberto's is very elegant, posh and the food is exceptional. As a Diamond member you may have breakfast at either the executive lounge or at Roberto's. The breakfast buffet was so delicious and is one of my favorites (my list includes the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai, Conrad Beijing, and Hilton Osaka; these are all Hilton hotels and resorts). The food served at the executive lounge was equally as delicious, I believe the food is prepared at Roberto's as well. However, seating at the executive lounge is rather limited, so at times it can be quite packed. Lets talk about my room; I was given a junior suite, which they also classify as a premier room. The room was spacious and it smelled so fresh that the scent of paint was still faint but present. The hotel was recently renovated and so the room felt brand new. I loved the clean and modern aesthetic of the design, but my favorite part would have to be the king sized bed and the soaking tub in the bathroom. After a day of walking, taking a soak in the tub is the perfect method to relax and it always helps when a hotel room has a greatly sized tub. While I spent most of my time walking the streets of Amsterdam and admiring the many canals; I appreciated the comfort and excellent service from this hotel. I am already thinking about when to visit Amsterdam again,

We are Diamond member and used points with 5th night free for our stay. We would rate this hotel an excellent points-value deal. This hotel provided a "diamond" experience. We received an upgrade to a premium room that was spacious and had floor to ceiling windows that offered an excellent views of the canal, green space, and the surrounding area. The executive lounge is amazing. It's essentially a glass box on top of the hotel that offers panoramic views of the city. It is small and can get crowded but the manager Edgar made every guest feel special. It is open throughout the day (breakfast and happy hour served during specific hours) so it was a great quiet space to relax. The buffet breakfast was better than usual and free for Diamond members. Overall, we felt that they appreciated our brand loyalty and provided excellent service. The highlight of the hotel is the Half Moon Lounge. It offered artisan craft cocktails, a sophisticated bar and food menu, a canal view, and excellent service from Alessandra and the whole team. On the weekends, they had live jazz music. It was a great place to relax after a long day. We enjoyed the location. It's in an upscale, quiet residential neighborhood that has lots of shops, restaurants, and green space. It is walking distance to the major museums and Vondelpark. There are many transit stops within .5 miles and it's about a 15 to 20 tram minute to/from the central station/old town/red light. We felt safe walking in this area at all times of day/night.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend. The hotel is definitely in a great location, more resident and set on a Mariana. Which ironically did not have any boats or tours for guests... we did however book a canal cruise through the hotel at an offsite location. The beautiful looking hotel bar is closed for guests on weekends. So was the coffee bar/cafe on weekends. With that said, don't plan on having a quick bite here before venturing out to explore Amsterdam like we did. Upon entering our room at around 3pm on last Friday, my boyfriend and I noticed there was a horrific smell coming through our vents. The front desk was very accommodating and switched our room given they were fully booked. Our second room smelled exactly the same - like rotting cheap perfume to coverup up a musky smell. It was horrible! I asked someone in the elevator if there room smelled also and hers did as well. The smell permeated through the hallways and lobby but not as strong. We kept our windows open the entire time which helped with the smell but given the abnormally high temperatures for this time of year our rooms were uncomfortably warm with the AC on full blast. And by full blast cool air was not flowing through the way it would in an an American hotel. Overall, if you have sensitivities to smells or even allergy's, do not stay at this hotel. Cleanliness was also subpar. The only saving grace was the restaurants but that's a separate review.

This was my 4th or 5th vacation visit here. Stayed for 5 wonderful days. Check in was easy and pleasant. The ladies behind the desk were nice and I had a lovely corner room facing the park. It was quiet outside as was the inside too. The rooms have been recently renovated with new furniture and a new set up. Our room had a lovely L shaped couch and King bed in our suite. My husband missed having the desk and chair but it made the room seem much bigger without all the furniture. They seemed to replace the larger furniture with much more European styled smaller furniture. It was fine for us but gave us less drawer space and less counter top space. My recommendations for the best suites in the property is the ones that end in _26 and are on an odd numbered floor. The bathrooms are larger and the balcony will give you both a view of the park and the canal with very expensive homes. We were in 426 so no view of the canal but a nice big bathroom. The lounge upstairs for HH members of a certain level is very nice. Small but nice breakfast in the morning and a nice happy hour with snacks in the evening. A little chilly up there as it has 4 glass walls so you can see every angle of the city. Breakfast downstairs in Roberto's is pretty incredible. Outstanding selection and delicious food. If I could give 6 or 7 stars for the service, I WOULD! Coffee was refilled as was our choice of still or sparkling water. It is a buffett and our used plates were cleared very quickly so we could sample more food. The hot items were never low on quantity and the bread and pastry area was restocked constantly. Complimentary mimosa or Prosecco was available as was a variety of milks and cereals from the bar area. It is cozy inside with a nice fireplace to keep us warm in the winter. Roberto's is a wonderful restaurant and sometime I will go there for a wonderful dinner. Overall the hotel is grand which is why my husband and I only stay here when visiting yearly to Amsterdam for vacation. Great management and great staff both downstairs and throughout the property. Definitely a 5 star property!

Great views of the city from my room

I stand by 3 stars in my second review, not my favorite Hilton in Amsterdam, although it is located on the most expensive street in Amsterdam, so I was told, by local people. The rooms are average. The bar does have a nice selection of high end scotches if you are into that. You could spend 300-400 EU on a shot of scotch. Breakfast buffet is average and the staff is overzealous, sometimes removing your plate without asking. The executive lounge has very nice views of the city but extremely limited seating. They were giving drink coupons to some of their guests for the bar downstairs, which is not OK specially when you pay for this lounge and you do want to enjoy the view. The appetizers served here were pretty good and they offer a "label" selection of spirits.

    Terrance on the canal.

I say this because all rooms have a clear glass shower in the middle of the room and toilet is also placed within frosted glass sliding doors (see pics). Approaching the hotel, it's very conveniently located for public transit, about 6-7 minutes walk from the Amsterdam Zuid train and metro station, where trams and buses also stop. The area directly around the hotel is mostly residential so street parking is also available. A ramp or a few stairs lead down to the front entrance, and a Jeff Koons balloon dog statue greets you in the foyer, followed to the left by a casual table set up of self-check-in, semi-assisted with friendly staff that come over if they see you looking confused. I appreciated that the entire process was pretty simple, at each iPad station you scan your own key card from a stash of cards to work for your room, also you're allowed to check-in early as long as a room is available. I arrived at 10am and was able to go up to my room right away which was a plus. The rest of the lobby area consists of plenty of seating, a couple dining tables with benches around a central bar/kitchen area, where snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non) and light meals area available to order. Filtered tap or sparkling water also available for all customers to self-serve fill up glass jugs and bring up to your room. Shared co-working and lounge spaces in the lobby were also very colorful and stylish. Staff are willing and able to help with inquiries. The hallways and my room were pretty clean, I wiped a little dust off the desk and bathroom shelves. The bed is very comfortable, (and probably this and the relative ease of public transit are the reasons I would stay here again,) king sized though it's against the window. Pillows were better than most hotels I've recently stayed at. Control for the thermostat, TV, lights, blinds (both day blinds and blackout blinds) are controlled via iPad. TV controls were a bit temperamental, sometimes it wouldn't work or there was a lag, the TV shut off a couple times and I couldn't turn it back on. WiFi was consistent and strong. If you're not familiar with Citizen M they incorporate a lot of witty/humorous content in their presentation so expect to see some of this in the signs and branding around the hotel. Getting to the parts I really didn't like: 1) the lack of privacy by using a glass shower with white curtains that are basically see-thru, and toilet incorporated into the room--really convenient if you're staying with a friend and you want to see them nude, or hear their bathroom functions. For the rest of us, well...not as much. 2) very nice to have a rainforest shower in a small room like this, however aside from aforementioned privacy issues, it's hard to clean and even with good ventilation the humidity will get caught in the shower, resulting in black mold in the sliding shower door tracks both above and below. 3) because the sink is also in the middle of the room, whenever you use it, water inevitably splashes out even being very careful, so you have to wipe it up to avoid tracking dirt and dust all around the room. 4) the room is quite small so if you have anything more than a carryon suitcase there's not much room to open your luggage, also very minimal hanger space, just a few hooks and a few hangers provided. 5) safe in my room didn't work. I kept things locked in my suitcase and was ok. 6) only two outlets in the room, which can be a challenge if you have more than one person needing to charge a few items overnight at the same time. 7) whenever I entered the room the window blinds would automatically open, which I found annoying bc I would have to close them again. The room I was in faced other residential buildings so I didn't particularly want people seeing into my room. 8) last but not least, I'm not sure who decided to place the toilet paper roll dispenser on the the left upper side edge of a toilet with an abnormally high back--imagine trying to reach a foot over your left shoulder or contorting your body at an extremely unnatural bent-over angle to reach and tear off the necessary several squares each time after you use the bathroom...sigh. Or maybe this toilet paper dispenser was built for tall people, not us with the short arms. For some the positives might balance out the negatives, which was generally the case with my stay, and I would consider staying again. However I would also check what other hotels are available next time before booking this as a back up.

The hotel was reasonably clean, but housekeeping was inconsistent--limited mostly to just making the bed, and the bathroom wasn't refreshed. While in our room, housekeeping somehow damaged my electric toothbrush, which was unsettling given that the bathroom wasn't even cleaned. It's so hip,…read moreand happening, am very happy got to experience it and my main reason for choosing it was because there was a direct bus from the bus stop outside which dropped me off near my work building in 35mins! So I guess having good intentions does matter. So why the love for this place? Well first let my start off with the lovely staff. I arrived at noon and check-in wasn't till 3pm. I was jet-lagged, tired, smelly and in desperate need of a hot shower and a place to rest. Nimka, at reception totally emphasized, called house-keeping and 45 mins later my room was available. The hotel's owner was also happy to supply me with a resident letter which was super essential for me to register with Amsterdam Town Hall and without which, I wouldn't have been able to work. Also Carlo at the front desk, later on in my stay checked that I was happy and when I mentioned the smell of the soup was fairly aggressive for me, since I'm a wee bit sensitively artificial smells, they got a neutral scent soap for me! Just saying! Moving on to the room - oh la la!! It's modern hipster living design elements at its best. Any Brooklynite's reading this review would totally want to live in this space! Everything (including the kitchen sink!) has its place and yet the room walked super spacious. I had a side view of the street and loved the blackout curtains so could sleep comfortably in the massive bed. The headboard was too cute / it's shape profile was like an Amsterdam canal house! The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with pots/ pans/ baking dish/ cutlery etc. No toaster but I used the pan and excellent coffee plus tea machine. Tons of storage space and a lovely + comfy couch. Loved the thoughtfully curated books about Amsterdam that were in the bookshelf as well as the side table. Gadget-wise too, this hotel rocks! All the light switches are dimmers! If you press down on the switch longer, it becomes brighter! There are two usb chargers built-in next to the bedside table, which is super convenient. Also, the shower in the bathroom was fantastical! They had a rain shower which just melted away all my travel dirt and it was super refreshing to use, with great water pressure. The hand-held shower has 3 settings which it was super easy to toggle between. The tiles were delft blue and so u totally got the Dutch feeling. BTW, did I mention how spacious it was? Other amenities that impressed me was the sauna and the gym. There is a restaurant also attached with Movenpick Ice-cream!! This is my fave brand of ice-cream in the world! Ben & Jerrys!?! Pshaw! Movenpick's where it is at! Silky, smooth, buttery - make sure u try this ice-cream at the restaurant if u stay here. Btw, this place is also so well located, it's a short 20min tram ride to Amsterdam Central aka the touristy got spot but it's lovely to come back to this hotel and get away from the crowds and wind down and chillax. Other things I like about the place: - the Braille language in the elevator - the bowl of oranges near the elevator lobby - the wonderful cinnamon candy you get as a gift - the laundry facilities include soap and they also have hanging racks Overall absolutely recommend if you are looking for a cool and hip hotel in a great location for a short trip or even a long stay! We were able to find a last minute room here, and the rest was history. This hotel is modern, spacious, and delightfully new. We loved our room - from the techie-friendly way to open the door (don't worry - really easy!) to the modern bathroom with huge waterfall shower. The bed was very comfortable with two USB ports on each side for easy charging. There was even a stocked Nespresso machine in the mini-kitchen! The surrounding area was nice, with plenty of food in walking distance and the tram right out front. We were able to hop on the tram to get into the main city or head to the airport! (We did both.) I wish we had taken more photos, because this place is so cool that you have to see it to believe it. We will absolutely return to Amsterdam, if only to stay here. Long story short? Choose this one! Like a cherry on top, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended stay to anyone visiting Holland!

It is near the museums, the restaurants, the clubs and right on a tram line. The room was pretty average. Comfortable beds (two singles pushed together, which is common for Europe), decent shower, coffee maker, glassware, wardrobe, etc. The hotel does a very nice continental breakfast which is complimentary with the rate and was wonderful! The thing that really got us was the wonderful service. The desk staff went above and beyond on more than one occasion. We decided to stay an extra two days in Amsterdam because we were having a great time. We booked another night because it was available and they ensured our experience was seamless. Same room, no check in check out. They were full the second night but set us up at their sister property and facilitated the transition. Extremely impressed and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is very family-friendly, which made traveling with kids easy and stress-free. One of the biggest perks was the M Club Lounge, which offers daily breakfast and a comfortable space to recharge between sightseeing. Service was excellent from the start--we arrived early after an overnight flight and were pleasantly surprised to be checked in early, which made a huge difference after traveling. Clean rooms, great amenities, and an unbeatable location. Would absolutely stay here again, especially for a family trip or a holiday visit to Amsterdam.

However, during our stay, a guest in another room opened their door because they could hear people waiting on the elevator. Service: + Everyone is well-trained. Anytime a minor hiccup arose (room was not serviced one day), it was quickly addressed. Elite recognition: + No major upgrades available (NUA denied). Fully sold out hotel during our stay. + M Club Lounge was very nice. Had some of the longest breakfast hours I have seen (6-11am), but was essentially the same thing each morning. It got busy during evening hours (5:30-7:30pm), with some minor variation in food. Heineken (and wines) available during evening canapes. + When room was serviced, given a Tony's Chocolonely bar and stroopwafels in a nice tin. Location: + 25 minute walk to Centraal. Along multiple tram lines.

They have great amenities and helpful staff, though I noticed that the front desk staff were a bit snooty in how they treated me versus some of the other guests on my same tour. I cannot help but wonder if it was because I was about 20-30 years younger than everyone else on the tour and I looked especially disheveled upon checking in after my red eye flight. However, my overall stay was lovely and the rest of the staff were a delight. I even had a chance to visit the spa and gym and pool a few times in my 3 days at this hotel. Highly recommended if you are ever visiting Amsterdam and want to stay close to the museums!

We have been fortunate to have stayed at some nice hotels before but this was at the top end of our price range especially with having to get two rooms for our family of four and we were only able to stay here with their stay four days and pay for three promotion. The location was fantastic--close to the museum quarter (steps away from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh) but out of the tourist hubbub. It had easy transit to both tram (connecting with central station) and bus with stops outside of the hotel. It is near good restaurants as well and bakeries and love that a grocery store was steps away too. The service was fantastic and they were so kind to upgrade us from our original deluxe room to rooftop suites (we had booked three rooms traveling with my parents as well). It was an incredible experience with rooms well appointed and Dutch architecture but so spacious for the city. I had originally booked here since their deluxe rooms were larger than the rooms I was finding in other hotels but loved the views from the windows and ample space with seating areas. My husband enjoyed use of the gym during our stay. It was very zen and fortunately not crowded in the evening hours. We hope to visit Amsterdam again and would plan on returning here since it was an amazing stay despite it being on the top end of our range :). (It looks like the lower rated reviews on yelp are for their restaurant which we didn't try.... the hotel was amazing).

Usually when I think of cheap hotels I think of dirty rooms, cockroaches, funky smells, dangerous neighborhoods, uncomfortable mattresses and everything being a hundred years old. This was not the case at all with EasyHotel. Everything was new and clean. The mattress was new and comfortable. Everything was newly painted and white without a speck of dirty. The room itself was tiny and fit our suitcases and bed and not much else. The tiny room, the white walls and the sanitariness almost made me feel like we were in a insane asylum. Also the bathroom wasn't really a separate room, more like a piece of glass separating it from the bedroom. Any noises or smells that usually stay in the bathroom, entered the bedroom as well. This just made our stay more entertaining and memorable.
